Boomtown, Striga, Dark Astoria. No reason to go to any of those zones, ever. Hollows sort of has a reason now even though I still skip it. Faultline is better.

Cim only makes it because of the ITF. If it didn't have that, nobody would go there ever.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Boomtown, yes. Waste of a zone, no reason to go there. Striga? Heck no! It's a great zone, has some great arcs and a couple awesome task forces. Dark Astoria? Another great zone, go there, level from 21-30ish, get rich off arcane salvage. I really wish there was more to do there though, some contacts/arcs or a "stop the BP!" type of task force. even as it is, it's one of my favourite zones in the game.

I go to Cimerora regularly, but only to run the wall.

Faultline is great since the revamp and I wish they would do more like that to other zones.

Least he had some status protection. Ran a Sara Moore TF last night, SR scrap had no PB because it "didn't add any defense." This on a 36 month veteran player, mind you.

    fake edit: ebay indeed.
  3. Don't need any of those ATs. You can get this done with pretty much anything. ITF's been soloed, run by all-scrapper teams, all blaster teams, et cetera. You can split Rommie off and fight him just once; I've done it. No LoS, no rez. You can avoid the stun by breaking LoS. Lots of ways to beat Rommie. Depending on your team makeup, bumrushing him might be best, or you might be better off peeling the healing nictus away to kill Rommie faster.

There's no detail in this guide. A person running the ITF for the first time would gain nothing from this guide. What about the Kheld boss ambushes at the oracle? What about the Nictus crystals exploding and killing people? What about Lag Valley? What about handling the ambushes that show up during the final battle with Rommie? You don't mention the myriad of alternate strategies for some of the missions. This is a bad guide.
  4. I sort of liked this bug It gave Manticore's TF, an otherwise boring and terribly written TF, an edge of excitement and danger But yeah, it's pretty frustrating when the random spawns are ten times tougher than the AV at the end.
  5. I prefer to keep LFG Alpha. I like the high signal/noise ratio of global channels, and I have seen a fair amount of "LF bubble farm" and the like in the architect channel already. Also, using it as a regular teaming channel will absolutely get the blowhards up in arms and spamming in there about how they think it's for AE only, regardless of evidence to the contrary.

I envision a world where there is a dedicated LFG channel, like Angry_Angel mentioned
  6. This is the best thread

My biggest problem with ITF is the same problem I have with Ernesto Hess(my two favorite Task Forces BTW), YOU DON'T GET TO FIGHT THE GIANT ROBOT!! Annoys the hell out of me.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Gotta agree here. Seeing the robot through the windows in the Hess TF and not getting to fight it was such a letdown!
  8. [semi-QR]

Welp. Every set listed here as "underperforming" has amazed me more than once in the hands of a good player. So, I guess the set that I think is underperforming is whatever one a lousy player is using. Lousy players can't pull greatness out of any powerset, but good players can do great work with even the most "underperforming" powerset.

I've seen great electric and psi blasters, awesome Gravity controllers, and one of the best scrappers I know uses MA as his primary (Hello Infatum!). Electric Armor, as mentioned by some folks, has a great bag of tricks. I see some folks mentioning SR or Empathy; have you lost your minds?
  9. Hmm, this thread is a refreshing breath of fresh air. I clicked it expecting a lot of snark about "well first you click the big doors on the AE to leave, then you look for a train station to leave AP. . . " but instead it was filled with useful advice and appreciation from the OP. Cheers all around, this community can be great
  10. [QR]
Agreed all around OP, the ITF is a great one. Only things I hate are Lag Valley and convincing the teams I run with that bumrushing Rommie et al. at the end is a viable and fun tactic They all come around, though

I can't pop an inspiration to make my powers come back faster.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I've always thought that should be an Inspiration

    [/ QUOTE ]

    I'd trade Oranges for this.
  12. [ QUOTE ]
Actually, speeding up attack rate but leaving endurance costs the same doesn't increase damage, just the damage rate.

    [/ QUOTE ]

AM also buffs damage, and even if it didn't, attacking faster = dead enemies faster = less incoming fire = you don't die. Damage rate increase is a good thing.

    [ QUOTE ]
As for inspirations, it would be useful to be able to carry an assortment rather than a full tray of blues into every fight, then being incredibly hamstrung once they're gone.

    [/ QUOTE ]

So bring reds and kill faster, or bring purples and get hit less, or bring greens and heal incoming damage, or bring oranges and, wait, no, don't bring oranges, they're useless
  13. Just wanted to make a couple points in the midst of this discussion.

    [ QUOTE ]
So yes, I must be a bad player if low level corrupters die frequently. Because there can't be any other reasons can there? Playing defenders couldn't possibly have taught me how to play similar characters, could they?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Your low level corruptors might die frequently, but mine don't, at least no more frequently than my defenders. I'm sure it has to do with the higher damage + Scourge.

    [ QUOTE ]
Just tried running the same mission with my rad/rad corrupter again, this time on difficulty 1. Again, endurance runs out I get killed. How does this happen? Well, let's see here. I believe it has something to do with an endurance recovery rate of 1.67 endurance per second, and endurance consumption rate of 1.49 endurance per second. Sure I could hit Accelerate Metabolism and get an end recovery rate of 2.17, but that also speeds up attack recharge. Thus actually causing me to burn endurance faster. Consider that for a moment too before claiming I must be unskilled.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Speeding up attack recharge also means doing more damage and killing mobs faster. As far as your end consumption, might be that you don't need to use those toggles every fight. Also, do you not use inspirations?

Your stories of bad teams are so bad that they appear apocryphal. I can't imagine a team refusing to sidekick someone; there's no loss to the mentor, so there's no reason not to SK. I also can't imagine a team demanding you forgo buffs in favour of weak heals, or specifically aiming to kill your anchors. Unless Guardian has a population made entirely of trolls and griefers, your teaming experiences are outlandish and almost certainly not experienced by others.
  14. Gotta say, complaining that you can get badges by logging out, which you are gonna do anyway, is pretty weak. That said, thanks for the guide.
  15. He came in, he pretended that there were no social norms or unspoken rules (or pretended they didn't apply to him) and then acted dumbfounded when people hated him. Shocking. When I meet people in real life who act like this, I stop associating with them, because they are invariably worthless.
  16. It adds a percentage of your regen and recovery rate. It doesn't recover 20% of your HP/sec or anything like that.
  17. Heyyy, thanks a lot! I'm 33 this year, ancient to some of you, just a baby to others, I'm sure

Hope you all have a day at least as good as I do!

Welcome! Enjoy your stay. And just remember, not everywhere is Atlas, and there's more to the game than Atlas.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Welcome, and this quote right here will help you a lot in your travels. Here's another tip that utterly changed my game: join some global channels. Virtue LFG Alpha, Virtuebadges2009, VU2009, and Virtue TFs are good ones. Never want for a team, badge, TF/SF, or ridiculous chat again!
  20. [ QUOTE ]

It's good to see that the defender forums are full of such thorough readers.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Hey, give us some credit. At least we read patch notes.
  21. Sweet, I will park my gun-totin' patoot beside ol' Faathim right now.

    No agitating for change here.

Some people like 'em, and that's fine.

    Diversity is a good thing.

  23. If there's a spot open, and I can get 44, I'd love to be the token blaster-who-thinks-he's-a-scrapper on the TF, assuming such a position exists.
  24. I don't think the Malta are overpowered at all, which is why I see objections to the Malta as being indicative of wanting combat to be a shooting gallery. I'm not accusing anyone of being a carebear, whatever that means. If it means no PvP, hey, I'm the Carebear King. I'm also not intentionally maligning anyone's gaming skills, but when my experience with a given part of the game is vastly different from someone else, I do tend to look for reasons. My position:

    1. Malta are not ridiculous, unmanageable or overpowered, they are a challenge.
    2. I like a challenge, I like the Malta, and I enjoy fighting them.
    3. Some people don't like the Malta because of the things that make them a challenge.
    4. Those people don't want a challenge.

I assume we differ on point one. I don't see them as overpowered or ridiculous because I fight them and defeat them whenever they come up. I don't avoid them, in radios or contacts. Hell, Crimson and Indigo are two of my favourite contacts. Despite their newfound power, I still fight them and defeat them regularly. I guess our difference of opinion comes about because our gameplay experiences differ.

    [ QUOTE ]

I know some of you want to pretend that we have two extremes in the game to choose from, with nothing in between: pushover and OMG OVERPOWERED!

    [/ QUOTE ]

I don't think anyone is presenting this, unless it's you. I can't think of any mob group that is OMG OVERPOWERED at all. I'd like to remind you that I'm not the one claiming that the Malta are too hard; I'd never make that claim because, in my experience, it's not true. Therefore, I am not making a claim that there are two extremes with no middle ground. My claim is that the Malta are more challenging than other mob groups, but far from overpowered, as shown by the fact that I can handle them and sometimes actually seek them out for a good time. Your position seems to be that the Malta are impossibly overpowered and you can't handle them in gameplay. Your experience differs from mine, so it's no surprise we don't agree on this. I apologize if I said something earlier than was insulting or snide.
