I'm not sure if you're serious. The problem with the red market isn't a lack of cash on the part of villains, it's a lack of supply. The reason my WP brute isn't kitted out with Kinetic Combats isn't because I can't afford the five sets I want, it's because they just aren't there to buy.

(If you're being tongue-in-cheek as suggests, please forgive my SRS BSNS post!)
  3. Sig updated. This is the best announcement ever. It does me so much good to know that the devs will make the right decisions for the good of the game.

    Market Merge FAQ

Thank you so much for this. This has wiped out any fears I have for the game.
  5. This is the happiest day ever. Finally, merged markets. Finally, I can get rid of the link in my sig. This is a day of victory for anyone who uses the markets.

If you're not in them already, get into the VirtueUnited, Virtue LFG Alpha, Virtuebadges09 and Virtue TFs 2010 global channels. You'll have more access to people who are interested in joining you.

  10. I use Microsoft Security Essentials. It works fine, small footprint, doesn't bugger me up. I've previously used AVG and Avast! but they just kept getting bigger and uglier, so out the door they went.

Where did you learn that the way to solicit help is to post backhanded, passive-aggressive sniping at the community trying to help you?

edit: To echo some other posters, just play the game and use the market wisely. You'll make plenty of money and be able to afford what you want.
  14. Main thing you are missing on Virtue is a lot of people with worn out parantheses keys and significant hypertrophy of the special snowflake gland. That said it's my home server and I couldn't imagine life on a lower population server.

I laughed at this because it's so true. Freedom's just another server, except it's got a lot more people. This means that yes, there are more twits, but there is also a lot more opportunity to do stuff. There's nothing wrong at all with Freedom as a first or only server! Virtue is also nice ((once you get used to the strange accent of the natives)) and has plenty of folks.

Joining some global channels will make the game much more active and fun for you, regardless of what server you join. It will also expose you to more people and increase your odds of finding a good SG to join.

    Hope you enjoy your stay!

Feel free to ignore the quoted part of this post. Freedom has a high population, so there are more people who like to do anything, be it farm, TF, whatever. Freedom's a fine server. Virtue is great too; it's my own home server. The others are quieter and have smaller communities, but they are not dead at all. Ask folks for global channels and whatnot to get you involved in the community of your chosen server; you will find there is a lot going on that you would never see if you just ran around and went by the population visible in the overworld.

If you come to Virtue, PM me on the forums and I will send you a list of global channels to join to improve your experience.
  17. Invulnerability is a great set right out of the box, and when you IO it out it's even better.

I'd sooner skip Unstoppable than the auto resists. There's some good stuff in those powers that will help you out.
  18. I've not found the damage procs to be worth it in damage auras. I tried it for a bit, but it was really underwhelming. Now I frankenslot dam/end and one acc/dam/end and call it good. If I had slots to spare, then maybe a proc of some kind could go in there, but that hasn't happened to me yet.

Been playing on 64 bit systems for the last three years, myself and my spouse. No worries at all, you're gonna be fine.

Oh wait. You just like to go out of your way to get offended and uptight. Carry on.
  21. Every team I lead is a PUG other than the one spot my spouse occupies. The idea that players are somehow better because they are in my SG or in a common global channel is kind of ridiculous. I take anyone who wants to come and if they make the team a miserable experience, so be it, I onestar and don't invite again.

    Quote:
    In an average gaming week:
    1) How often do you PuG instead of grouping within your SG or friends?
All the time, likely every night that I play. Folks get busy and my spouse has long hours. Like I said above, my SG mates and global channel co-members are still PUG members. They're no different than someone I get from /search and vary at least as much in skill as what most people would call PUG members.
    Quote:
    2) How often do you group with friends and fill the rest of the group with PuGs?
Anytime I need more than one person in the team, so SFs/TFs/whatnot.
    Quote:
    3) How often do your PuG members do what you feel needs to be done without being told to do so?
Well they all use their powers and we never fail a TF so I would say 100% of the time. Then again I am not a control freak who thinks they know better than everyone else how to play the game or their characters. Those people are terrible to team with and do more to ruin a team experience than the fire/kin who AFKs every third spawn or the tank who forgets to turn on his status protection.
    Quote:
    4) How often do you find yourself telling PuG members what you feel they should be doing (for the good of the current team/session)?
Unless it's to smooth out social issues, never. If someone sucks then things go slower; who knows why they are not playing at what I think is their best. Maybe they are disabled or they got kids distracting them or they have a slower PC or whatever, I can't tell them how to play because I don't know the reason why their playstyle is what it is. Besides which I am not gonna tell someone how to play their game; people rarely if ever respond well to some anonymous twit telling them they need to pull up their socks in a videogame. If they are disruptive or obviously there to be a pain in the ***, I kick them.
    Quote:
    5) How often do you find yourself adding PuG members to your friends/global friends, and if those lists are full, using other methods of remembering them?
Well I add people based on if they are cool. People can be lousy players and still be cool, fun, or funny, so I guess I do this when it warrants.
    Quote:
    6) How often do you group with complete jerks in a PuG?
Not more than once per jerk! I'd say I get a real tool who makes things hard maybe once a month if that.

Not directed at the OP but this game would go a lot smoother if people would try to keep in mind that on any PUG team everyone is a PUG member, not just the people who aren't in their SG or a common global channel. When I join a team that is half ABC Supergroup and half random folks, everyone on it is a PUG to me and the other random folks. Acting like this is an official ABC Supergroup event and the rest are lucky to be there makes things awkward at best, and doubly so when it's the ABC Supergroup members who are lowering the mean performance of the team. I see this all the time, which serves to remind me that membership in any social group doesn't convey any sort of superiority.

I have the reverse: the animation plays but not the particle effect.

edit: i was incorrect, the animation AND the particle effect repeat endlessly. My mistake. The animation does not play if I have another animation occurring; it doesn't interrupt any other animation.

I activated the Secondary Mutation power and received the "Acute Senses" ability. Since receiving it, the activation animation (leaning back, arms straighten, blue particle effect around head) keeps replaying every 5 or so seconds.
Same issue for "Mutation: Tough Hide". "Mutation: Pain Reduction" does the same, but on a much faster frequency; as soon as the animation is done playing it repeats.

edit: "Mutation: Heightened Speed" does not show up in combat attributes and does not appear to actually modify my movement speed. "Mutation: Pain Reduction" and "Mutation: Tough Hide" both appear in combat attributes.

I take Tough and Weave on my SR characters, but I only use Tough for a place to slot a certain +3% Def IO. Running it seems a waste to me, given that I rarely get hit and when I do Tough is only a ~15% (is it even that much?) damage reduction on S/L damage. Not that it isn't helpful, I just have a hard time justifying it to myself. Then again, if my characters weren't all Dark Melee with Siphon Life, my feelings might be different.

edit: on Invulnerability, I took and run both. I only have one Inv character but Tough and Weave seemed to really help.
  25. Hi, thanks for the post. Here's my thoughts.

Being rooted doesn't bother me and I don't consider it when picking powers. Lots of great powers root, and it would be utterly ridiculous to skip a strong power just because it roots you for a brief period. On the other hand, I have read good posts about, for example, Shadow Maul and how its root gets you killed. Not an issue for me but I can see how the perception might be there.

    2. More combinations of powersets - This i was hoping would come during GR, however i am not certain if that is the case. I believe we have enough powers to keep us busy for quite sometime, however i for one would like to see more diverse amount of builds instead of being restricted to the Tank/Dps/Ranged Dps/Healer/CCer combination. In a world like CoX the freedom to be is the greatest super power of them all.
I don't see these restrictions. I have ranged scrappers, tanking defenders, ranged damage controllers, and that's not even starting on the red ATs. The idea that there are fixed roles in this game exists only in the minds of some players. I cringed a little at the word healer, there's no powerset, let alone AT, that is mainly healing-focused. Well, except maybe Regen, but I don't think you meant scrappers as healers

    3. I love all the improvements so far, and seeing everything that CoX has become has always put a smile on my face, the game has been around for 6 years now and many of it's players are core players, they live, breathe, play CoH/V. And although many of the farms/AE farms have been taken down by miles, i think faster xp is a real plus. I was thinking of possibly an XP critical system where as you are fighting along doing your thing and you defeat a mob and instead of giving standard xp from level 1-50 you have a chance for an Xp crit where you get *Up to* double the Xp you would normally get. (How many of us don't have X amount of level 50s?)
We've had XP smoothing, radio missions, patrol XP, and the addition of IOs to make characters even more effective at earning XP. I don't think we need anything more. Why rush to 50 anyway, most of the content is on the way, not at the cap.

    4. this is a personal awesomeness idea, i would like to see more options for our characters (Costume wise). Now booster packs are a great idea in my opinion, i believe we have enough free costume pieces to keep us all going for a long time. I for one do not mind paying money for booster packs for costume designs emotes and such, i also believe that CoH/V should take full advantage of the fact people love making their characters look good. Booster packs (Brought out in small doses to ensure the money/time ratio of the animators is efficient) i believe are a great source of income for the game. (I for one have bought every booster pack/Version of the game minus Science/wedding...i'm a nerd...i know.)
Now you're talking! I'd pay every time they released a decent pack of costume parts. I would love to see bimonthly releases of just costume packs.

These are just some of the ideas i feel would help benefit the game as a whole. I would love for this game to prosper and continue into the future, there really isn't anything like it and if the ideas continue to flow, there will never be anything that can compare to it. Thank you all for your time in reading this.
    Thanks for posting!
