He's getting old, can't run with the big dogs any more, so the rest of the gang let him handle the BCUs so he can still feel badass and they can focus on the AVs.

Quote:That's the thing. MARTy will alert devs to exploits that may pop up in the future.Yes, but what are these said exploits. I guess I am saying that since a high xp farm is not considered an exploit (by the nature of MARTy not being triggered), then what the heck IS the exploit? It seems it would have to be pretty major and pretty awesome. (er, I guess I don't mean awesome, or do I?)
Let's say that after a totally unrelated patch, all female model CoT suddenly give five hundred thousand XP regardless of what level they are. MARTy sees that someone killed a spawn in Perez Park and suddenly gained five levels. MARTy applies the brakes, creates a log, and the devs learn about the problem.
I was one of the people who assumed MARTy was a disingenuous attempt to curb farming. Glad I was wrong. -

I have no idea where you got the idea that anyone was seriously advocating selling bugfixes, but it sure is funny to read you raging against it.

That would be quite the thing. Is it possible to make up the ~23% deficit using maneuvers/weave/CJ/IOs? I have never tried on a ruptor; always went with S/L or ranged depending on what secondary I had.

Quote:This is pretty wrong, FYI. Don't slap some piddling resists on top of piddling defense.Ninjas are gonna need resistance and healing regardless of how much -tohit or defense you have. Its best paired with thermals unless you want to have a much harder time. Resists are needed so they just dont outright get 1 shotted and the heals are good to patch them up as needed.

Quote:Some very good points and I will have to take that into consideration. Adding a resist shield on top of some chunky defense is a good thing.Go Power Mastery.
Power Build-Up used with Farsight will grant more +defense than Scorpion shield.
You can also take the resistance shield and run it with tough for even more resistance.
It also has Conserve Power which will offset your endurance use.
Quote:On Beta powerboosted Farsight was granting me about 22% defense.
ED Capped Scorpion Shield only grants 20% S/L (And 13% energy).
My main reason for thinking about Mace Mastery was because I find myself in melee all the time and I am not sure how to build for melee defense on the character. -
So I am looking to build some defense into my beam/time ruptor. I am split between Mace Mastery to get Scorpion Shield, or Power Mastery to get Power Build Up. What's the prevailing opinion between these two options? I'm seriously torn.

Just noticed that Mace Mastery has scorpion shield and Power Boost... things are gonna get fancy when my bots/time MM gets him some PPPs.

Quote:Familiarizing myself with another OS mainly.PS: Emberly, is there any reason in particular why you're considering a Mac if CoH worked great on it?
edit: rereading, I wasn't that clear. I didn't mean that I would replace my Windows machine, just that the next PC I buy would be a Mac. I am chained to Windows because of my work, which uses special software that just plain isn't available on any other OS. -
Macs are currently suffering from some issues with the CoX client, but I'm not sure on the specifics. Check the Mac forum a little ways down and see what they have to say, would be my suggestion.
edit: building your own PC is surprisingly simple and straightforward, and even if you are not keen on it yourself you almost certainly have a mate who is and would assemble the PC for a box of beer. It would probably be cheaper than a Mac, too. -
This might sound crazy, but if I knew that Macs could run CoX without a hitch (and without having to reboot to Windows) my next PC would be a Mac in a heartbeat.

ATI card? Drivers higher than 11.4? If so, downgrade to the 11.4 drivers and enjoy a silky-smooth experience (other problems notwithstanding). Otherwise, I got nothin'.

I am fine with them just being cool little things that are unique to the zone, they don't need to be some game changing mechanics thing for me to appreciate them

Quote:In answer to your question... wait. What was the question?Ever since i21 has launched, I as a mac user have had nothing but troubles while trying to access the game, I have not had a single solid gaming experience - or one that has lasted longer then 30 minutes since the release of i21.
It started with launch day the NCsoft launcher not even recognising the new issue and claiming that the 'cider' download or w/e can't be found, 4 hours later I manage to sort it out.
I log onto the game play for 20 minutes then crash for entering paragon market, CoH wont load when clicking 'play now' tried repair/patching nothing works. Have to uninstall and re install CoX ... 2 hours later I log in 20 minutes into play I tab out of cox to put music on and when I tab back in its a blank screen.. just black or orange nothing but colour... So now apparantly I can't tab out of the CoH screen without having to reload. Now everytime I do anything that causes the game to crash i,e entering store or spending time in AP or any zone I have to unsintal the game and re install because it simply wont load. I just don't understand why they would make an issue go live that they KNOW is plagued with problems concerning Mac players. -
The description has a typo in it. It has the word spelled as "onstoppable" where it should be "unstoppable." It's driving me nuts.

Yep, this is intentional and ******, but it was needed to improve server hamster miles per carrot or whatever.

Quote:How many levels do you think a 7 year old MMO should have? Why does MMO age factor into your belief? One thing I've noticed is that there's only 50 character levels, for an MMO that's 7 years old that's.... not very much
So, considering the max level is so low, what's the end game content like and how long will it keep you busy for? As it's one area almost every past MMORPG I have played has let me down in.
So low compared to what? There isn't some universal yardstick to measure number of levels against. A game isn't better or worse than another because one has 100 levels and one has 20. If MMO 1's endgame is at 75 and MMO 2's is at 50, that doesn't make MMO 1 better.
I'm not going to go into a long post about it, but suffice to say that there is plenty to do at 50 and unlike many other games, there are good reasons to do lower level content even if you are 50. If you are the kind of gamer who wants to grind out a million raids in order to get the complete set of the armor needed to grind out a million higher-level raids in order to get the complete set of the armor needed to grind out et cetera ad nauseum, then the endgame might not be for you.
Regardless welcome to the game and to the forums, and hopefully you find stuff you enjoy enough to stick around. -
I am thinking of getting my partner a new graphics card, specifically the 560Ti. We've been ATI kinda folks for awhile now, but the drivers as of late have been irritating us. Specifically, anything newer than 11.4 has caused CoX to crash out with regularity. How are NVIDIA's drivers? Any known problems with CoX that I should consider when making my choice?
