  1. Hurr durr this here forum has been here two days and some people aren't getting replies! Time to call it a failure. /sarcasm

Really folks, let's give this a chance.

Came here to post this. Dark Armor is kind of a deceptive set. You start out with it, maybe you don't have an IO plan, or you heard bad things. You have the idea that it's not that great, it's hard to level, you are going to suck wind all the time, but maybe your theme or concept demands it.

Soon, you start seeing that you have good resistances to weird stuff, and you find that Dark Regeneration with a ToE proc sometimes results in a net end gain. Carnies and Malta are a joke. End drain? That's that thing that happens to other people. You forget that minions even exist, because whenever they get close enough to smell your farts, they are stunned and staggering around like drunken nuns or wetting their pants and cowering like beaten stepchildren.

After awhile, you are running around balls-deep in mobs that you thought you had no business even looking at, let alone soloing, you have no end issues, stuff is stunned, feared or melting from a damage aura, and you realize

At least, this is how it was for me.
  3. Agreed, haha, Bots/Traps ruined me for any other MMs. I even tried a Thugs and was disappointed.
  4. Damn it AMD, what the hell were you thinking with Bulldozer? Slower IPC than Phenom II? Twice the power usage of a 2500K? Everyone involved in the Bulldozer project should be fired, unless this is AMD's attempt to enter the home furnace market.

AMD, I am disappoint. I was looking forward to finally upgrading my Q6600 and ditching the Evil Empire of Intel, but once again you have put on an embarrassing show. Anyone else a little disappointed by AMD cementing their position as an also-ran? Father Xmas, what's your take? Should I just bite the bullet and build a 2500K system, or is there something better on the horizon?

Not worth worrying about, MrCaptainMan. Model the correct terms and use them yourself, but I don't think it's worth correcting people. They will come around or not.

For sure, and if I implied that I didn't agree, that was my error in communication. Super Reflexes is one of my favourite sets for just that reason; I can gain significant advantages by not having to set myself out with defense bonuses. My point was more that calling out Aneko for implied claims s/he never made was poor form.
  7. No worries Z, I know we will get them when we get them and it's not a big deal. Most of us are grownups and understand that these things happen, and I know this is just a minor delay. Don't sweat the small stuff, as they say
  8. I suggest either fire/traps or fire/cold ruptor. People can cancel the shields if it bugs them that much.

However, recently I joined an ITF and it turned out to be a literal kill-all...I was slowly dying inside but suffered through it simply because 1. I was not the lead and 2. I did not ask upfront. As for any story-lines..yes I have a toon that has run every mission this game has to offer save for 4 flashbacks I missed along the way and have no intention of doing the same with another character.
This right here is the perfect way to go about it. Whatever way you choose to run your TFs, make it clear upfront! The "right" or "wrong" way isn't a question of kill everything versus speed everything, it's a question of communicating how you want to do it and letting people make the decision to stay. While I don't usually run TFs the way akarah the hunter does, the fact is that akarah the hunter is Doing It Right by telling people the way things will go right from the start.

Calm down. Nobody said it was better to softcap on SOs, only that it was possible. Also, you are not really in a position to throw mud around about superior builds, having committed some egregious errors in your own.

  13. Doesn't sound like you made it clear that the TF was going to be run the way it was. You or the team leader should have laid that out at the outset, that you were going to speed when possible. Can't lay this at the feet of players who thought that they were going to fight through.

New players are not bitter and jaded at the design and playtimes of the TFs, so is it really surprising that they might have wanted to fight through, beat up the baddies and win? Your post makes it sound like the "right" way to run Sister Psyche is to speed where you can and fight where you must only. To lots of people, that's boring and defeats the purpose of a game where a major appeal is to smash great big gangs of bad guys.

    EDIT

Here's a proper public service announcement for new players. Don't be surprised if you join a task force and find that the more experienced players are unilaterally deciding that they know best how to run the TF, without consulting or even informing you. Don't take it personally; they are set in their ways and can't understand that some people might have different assumptions than they do. A good practice when joining a TF is to ask, "are we speeding this?" because many team leaders won't even tell you that at the outset, even though it can make a huge difference in fun for many. Remember, if you join a TF and it turns out to be run in a way you don't like, you can leave and form your own!

What's to comment on? You have no slots or IOs placed. You've picked powers and there's not much anyone can say about that. Might wanna head to the Builds forum and ask there.

I would assume that is what anyone would do, yes. That still doesn't address the crappy recharge in Posi's Blast. Personally I am slotting Ragnaroks in it, but it sucks that the second best option is so bad.

On a power like Spinning Strike, I want that power up all the time. Getting a 6.25% global recharge bonus from Posi's Blast versus a 5% bonus from Oblit seems nice in theory, until you realize how much less recharge enhancement Posi's gives you compared to Oblits. Five slotting Oblits gets you ~89% recharge in the power plus 5% global, where five slotting Posi's gets you ~26% recharge in the power plus 6.25% global. Not a tradeoff I like to make. Also Posi's Blast has a worthless range enhancement that does nothing in SS.

I do see what you mean about set bonuses and the rule of five, but losing ~60% recharge in a cornerstone power of the set seems like a crappy tradeoff. Maybe losing is the wrong word, we have no better option than Posi's (or Ragnarokfor the rich), really. The set type is the only thing that bugs me about SS being a TAoE rather than a PBAoE.

I am finding StJ to be a thirsty mistress. I paired it with EA and man, that has been a rough ride to 35 and the joy of Energy Drain. Even on a testbed StJ/Regen things have been dicey for end. It's just that fast of a set, you are constantly dispensing ***-kickings and that gets tiring
  18. Reading about slotting Reactive Armors and Kinetic Combats for positional bonuses makes me a sad panda. That said you have clearly embarked on a journey of discovery and obviously have learned a lot, so keep going!
  19. The animation for SS sure doesn't look like a PBAoE. I really like it the way it is, other than the fact that TAoE sets really, really suck.
  20. My inv/dm tank is unkillable in most cases. Even psi damage isn't a big deal when you have perma DP and a ~18% heal on a very short timer.

Or on preview, what Claws said!

I think I see a possible cause, though, because I *also* have a radeon 5850. I don't think it's drivers, because I know mine are out of date and I don't think yours are. I dunno what a q660 is, but I only have 4 gigs of ram, so of what you listed the only commonality is the video card.

Here's an old post that has my complete system specs in it - is there any other overlap between your system and mine other than the video card? And could anyone else with this issue post their card and/or specs?
The lag thing is EXACTLY like using Mids when alt+tabbed, that's a perfect way to put it.

Re: system specs: I also have a Corsair powersupply, an HX520. I am also running Win7-64 bit. Other than that not much in common other than my CPU is also a quad core, but it's an Intel.

If you guys experiencing lag could toss out a HijackThis log, it might help identify the lag culprit.
No, I do not run any GPU computing stuff. I learned the hard way that while those clients CLAIM to fully release the GPU to games and the like, it's a lie and they don't do it correctly.

    Here is a HijackThis log.

Actually I suggest looking at RottenLuck's last build, it is a good place to start and has room to make changes of you don't want the energy mastery pool. That build is much better and will be a good start for anyone. One major change I would make is to drop FA and put those slots into Combat Readiness if you want the Gaussian bonus still.
