Some people will complain about anything
[/ QUOTE ]
I want to complain about that comment! -
I forgot all about this, and didn't see the arranged time
Glad it went well though, I really need to get into some PvP soon!
Shame it also clashed with the Union hami-raid though, that may account for a few absences. -
I enjoy occasional PvP, but I know a lot of people are put off by the dregs of the game that strut their stuff in those zones. I've been sent abuse many a time (though one time I wasn't even aware, until I realised I'd not enabled broadcast or villain tells on one toon
). I just tend laugh it off, but some people are more sensitive and don't want to have to put up with those morons, which in standard PvE you never have to.
Personally a major deterrant though is the risk of debt, which can turn many people off going in the zones. They've fixed that partly in the last patch, and though a lot of people can go through PvE and through good play get zero debt, they can end up building up huge amounts on a bad day in Sirens through no fault of their own. That's a lot of risk for very little reward. For that reason I really only do zone PvP with my 50's but many people don't have that luxury. I personally think they should at least treat PvP zones as missions and give half debt.
To get around these problems (which aren't really that significant overall), I think we need some major events to get serious numbers in the zones. I remember the bridger/rockjaw one saw four instances of sirens due to so many people turning up. If a player organised one gets a fraction of that, it would still be a good show. -
Yeah CoH is getting some much needed love to bring in line with CoV.
Forthcoming MM primaries include elementals and insects however (from statesman interview). -
Actually just checking the power descriptions on the webby, they've used the same Poison Trap description for /poison and /trap set. This is actually incorrect. The poison set one, just does sleep and a very minor amount of End drain (even slotted, I tried it on test)
-
Ok, main points I'd think about:
Elixir of Life: Doesn't work on minions, so although a good team power, probably not worth having more than a single recharge.
Vengeance: I'm not sure this works on minions either, so the slotting seems a little OTT for a PvE build.
Neurotoxic Breath: arguably one of the best powers in the set. I'd look at taking this early in the build. Slotting looks fine
Poison trap: The worst out of all the villain poison traps, I tried hard to like this power but its nowhere near as good as the poison traps from the MM and corrupter /trap sets. Maybe pick this up in the late 40's instead to round things off.
Noxious Gas is a far more useful power - just three slot it with recharge.
There's probably other things I could pick out, but It's late and I can't think too deeply at the moment -

It's been over two years now. If you consider real time to be the same as COH time?
Only 5 years until we can get that Time Capsule to Hero 1 open then

...and find out he was hiding inside it all this time!
Actually, the Rikti homeworld was the highest voted in the poll, so we may get to see it for ourselves! -
I'm definately interested. I can bring my blaster, or my mastermind is currently Lvl 46, so might be a good alternative if there are any villains needing a team-mate.
-
I'd really like to come along on one of the days with my MM, Doctor Devious. I can make Friday or Saturday (but prefer saturday if possible)
-
My LvL 45 mastermind (/poison) does not have fitness, and I've never needed it. Those extra powers in other areas are far more useful to me.
I slot my upgrades with two EndRedux in each. I don't feel that extra recharge is needed. -
Sounds great. I'm looking foward to getting to some more PvP with my Mastermind!
-
With one disorient enhance you can perma-stun an even level lt. With more it will last longer on higher levels of course!
-
I have some characters on Defiant that have gone unused for a long time and might consider playing one of them if there is some RP going on!
-
Ok maybe a stupid question but I have looked around and can't see a start time?
(I don't finish work till 8pm on a monday so I'm guessing I can't make this) -
Lvl 40 merc/poison here. I chose them for concept rather than anything else, but I'm certainly not disappointed!
-
I agree with max, leadership is not the be all and end all. Besides whatever powers you DO take , something else has to go.
I will say though I've not felt the need for stamina at all on my lvl40 mercs/poison MM. -
My flying fire tank is very similar in concept, and currently level 45. I don't use any of the sword attacks, Burn seems to work very well to ignore the very few times I get immobilised (heck... I remember back in I2 having to spam burn in order to get to standard status defenses that they thankfully moved to the shield toggles!). Hover handles all knockback too.
It's not an 'easy' build to play, but I have far more fun with it than I would with a standard cookie-cutter build, and its still very effective. -
I took part in a beach party on the US virtue server about april of last year, but that was held on one of the southern beach islands off Peregrine - a pretty good location as there are no mobs anywhere near there.
-
You can count me in!*
*Provided I have an internet connection as I'll be moving house at the end of the month -
Personally I think the fitness line is a waste of powers for */regen. I always preferred to go for the toolkit of useful abilities giving flexibility, rather than trying to max out numbers, as you will always find a PvP situation that messes those numbers up
It very much depends on the style of PvP though - either zones against villains or arena matches. You aren't going to meet any storm powered villains (the most you'll have to deal with is cold, rad or dark). And even so, group vs.one-on-one can differ greatly too. -

The thing I guess which annoys me is that Brutes get Punch-voke and Fury.
[/ QUOTE ]
Are you sure? They get access to the taunt power, but no-where can I find any reference to them having gauntlet/punch-voke or causing more agro than any other damage dealer in the team. -
The best example of a more 'heroic' story arc in CoV is Hardcase (30-35). Without spoiling the ins and outs of the individual plots and missions, he introduces himself as a demonhunter and needs help protecting the citizens of the Rogue Isles against the various demonic forces at work (thorns etc). It all felt vary 'dark hero', and similar to Blade in feel.

The only non-humanoid mob that springs to mind is the DE swarms. Actually... insects is another forth-coming MM primary (as mentioned in a statesman interview. Along with Elementals)
