Long time (mature) player with fast fingers seeks partner for mayhem and violence!
I've four squishy characters within level range of 40:
Blastique 50 en/en Blaster
Dimension Diva 50 grav/FF Controller
Doctor Devious 50 mercs/poison MM
Photon Wave 41 rad/rad Defender
I've not really played much arena PvP (zone PvP is a bit more accessable), and not sure how to handle getting a mastermind up to speed in that environment. He's vicious when at full power though! All of the characters have respecs available (my defender is very PvE spec and will need tweaking, and my controller has two intangeble/cage powers so will have to lose one), all are pretty useful teammembers.
Anyone interested? -
For solo play, I'd recommend the medicine line for aid self. Even if you only use it inbetween mobs it will help a great deal. If you get stimulant first its a nice team power that you won't need to slot.
I use bean bag to shut down any opponents that can mez me, and use burn (just three slotted with damage and nothing else) in combination with web grenade to take down tougher bad guys fast. It gets a lot more fun with full auto and trip mines too. You can take your time with trip mines solo, and it can make harder encounters much more managable. Full auto is great (especially if you pop a red or two first), but can 'lock' you in place while you're firing so you have to be careful with your timing (getting them on caltrops is usually a good idea).
Use corners a lot too, as this will draw ranged opponents onto your caltrops/mines. -
Seeing again that just makes me think 'Where was the challenge? Where was the game?'
It certainly used to be quite broken. Without the ED changes in i5 the CoV AT's would have been a mess, and PvP would be unplayable. -
'Herding' is fine for pulling smaller mobs together, but I've played in high level teams where it was just slowing things down. It can also be a rather selfish playstyle for other team members to endure. Tankers (Stone tanks in particular it seems, as they are the current fotm for tanks)seem to be one of the easiest AT's to play badly, either in terms of not looking after fellow team-mates, or getting delusions of their importance and barking out demands.
The only solution I've found is to avoid these players giving tankers a bad name. -
How about a zone that allows you to choose a 'temporary' character from a selection of longbow or arachnos troops, that have pre-set powersets depending on which class they are. You could unlock new powers on this toon only by PvPing

My Lvl 49 Grav/FF does fine without stamina, so it's certainly not a 'must'. They really excel as team characters though and are far too slow and safe (ie dull) to play solo. With end-buffers (kinetics, emp, rad) being so common team-mates I rarely run into problems. I also have conserve power though, which helps in case of emergency and rounds out the character nicely for the high levels. I do also slot crush as an attack (along with propel and my Singularity, it's not bad damage now)

The big flaw is for melee-only characters in particular it's nigh on impossible to stay close to a target, and it locks you in place for a second or two after porting. Also the porting line offers no additional mez protection powers (jumping's a fave for acrobatics, this may change however once people can slot the right IOs but they are currently highly sought after and hard to get!). Also teleport needs a few slots in END/Range to make it less of a huge endurance drain.

Ok, I'll bite. Certainly sounds like fun. Anyone need a Grav/FF controller?

Looks okay as a build. I love explosive blast too for the reasons stated.
One thng I would say though, fly is far better slotted with three flight speeds. At level 50 its actually fast and with power boost too, you can keep up with superleapers (with the added bonus of never having to come down again!). For that reason, I'd move the extra slots from health to fly. I also slot hover too, but I tend to stay airborne 99% of the time so its just my playstyle.
I also like stun, its a good solid mez and that can be the different from success and defeat for a blaster facing certain lieutenants. Total focus supersedes it, but as that's not available until 38 its a great mid range filler. -
I'm usually there with Dimension Diva providing another Singularity, but missed last week due to prior engagements. Hopefully I can make it as normal next friday!

PnP roleplay is where it all started for me. I think Warhammer RP was my first main game for a long while in my teens, and then progressed onto shadowrun. The best games I remember playing are Call of Cthulhu and Vampire though, simply because my brothers GMing was awesome for those campaigns.
I've not RPed regularly now for years, but recently I've tried a game of Shadowrun 4th ed, though that didn't last too long. I'm planning a D&D game though (which I've never really played/ran before) so will be both an interesting change and a welcome return to the fantasy genre! -
Ah, I would have liked to join this myself and would have popped online if I'd have known. My controller is finally in the 45+ range and I actually felt useful at last fridays raid!
I can't blame you though for wanting to cut down on the amount of freeloaders/spammers/mavericks/ADS sufferers though. I've been on public raids in the past where people just didn't listen and generally made things far harder than they needed to be! -
Villains are weird from a RP point of view as it's often difficult to imagine some characters being friendly and sociable enough to turn up and get on well with other villains. I'd say that villains motives are far wider than a heroes, and many won't see themselves on the same side. This makes them generally harder to RP well and may put some people off.
I tend to RP my villains in the SG base, or Pocket D as my main places. I don't RP my villains much though as there seems to be less interest. -

I know one of the accolades needs the 'raider' badge - five hours in Sirens.
[/ QUOTE ]
Then how is getting killed in PvP an obstacle to getting the time badge?
[/ QUOTE ]
None at all. I was just stating that there are badges needed for an accolade that require more then a two minute trip into the zone! Also if any non-pvpers go afk in the base just to get the badge it kinda messes up the bounty system, but that's a different topic really. -

I'll bring along Dimension Diva (grav/ controller) providing I get to 45 by the date (currently 43, so shouldn't be a problem). I've attended previous (failed) raids with Blastique and felt like a spare wheel during the holding phase, so I think you need all the holders you can get to make it a success!

Friday would probably be a good day, however a slightly later start time (say 8pm) for us working folks might be more suitable.
-
I have a handful of ellegible characters on defiant I could join with (so nice to be able to join something that's not for 50's!). I'll keep an eye on the thread and look for teams
-
Good job, it's nice to hear that somebody had a lot of fun and a rewarding time getting to 50

I SAID heroes can enter this competition, its just that I prefer them to play a villain rather than a hero
[/ QUOTE ]
That you did. I wasn't making a jibe at you personally, and I'll bring a villain myself (abeit not level 50). I suppose my main issue is that the vast majority of PvP events are lvl50 and that excludes a large part of the playerbase, other than a vocal minority on this forum. If people really want more PvPers, they'll have to accept playing at lower levels, at least occasionally -

Meh my highest villain is 33 so Ill pass.
Even though I started playing villains in beta.. Shows how tedious the lvling process is.
[/ QUOTE ]
And people wonder about the reasons for lack of PvP! Making lvl 50 the 'norm' in any PvP event excludes a large proportion of the playerbase. Even in heroes, a minority of players have 50s. -
Remember remember the 5th of November...
hmm sure there's something going off on that day, but I can't remember what! -
The hero equivalent will be I9 from what the devs said, so probably next spring at a vague guess. I have my mastermind at lvl 47 now (almost 48) and feeling ready to get into a RSF soon
