I absolutely love the shot, LJ!!
That is epic in an up-close and awesome, giant-demon-pounding way!
I'm also very interested in these quick colors you've been doing in painter.
They actually have a cool look to them of their own.
More importantly though, I love seeing artists taking on new methods and tools and improving upon them and figuring out how to use them to better themselves, their process and the final product.
Yep, I'm a fan alright, haha.
And.. You know... There is something nice and old school D&D about prying an eye out of a large demon!
However, this action shot and scene is not "old school".
I love the pose, the set up and the (vicious) concept (Twisting the horn and ripping the eye out!!!).
Hah... Sorry, I haven't been around posting many responses lately, my enthusiasm for this one is gushin' out.
Anyway... I'm looking forward to seeing this one completed!

I've messed around with it in the past...
You can manage to get a decent thing going...
But yeah, the hair is always there if you include that hat.
You have to just make it white and tell your eyes not to notice it.
For the mask, you can use sightless with either the double tribal tattoo thing... or you can use the face options for a pattern along with the underlying sightless mask (Making the sighltess mask face BLACK and the overlaying option WHITE).
Obviously though... it does not shift ;o)
Of course... you could possibly save a few costume slots to different patterns and chance them frequently.
However, I think there were only two options that I thought looked okay... So, two different mask patterns... Not really enough for a great effect.
I may go and mess with it again in a bit.
However... if you're only asking because of the movie...
I say NOO!! ;op
If' you've read it... well, then that's a different story (For me and my nitpicky ego).
Hehe... Honestly...
I've also found that I prefer using the closed Lab Coat than the trench coat for that look.
The thing you really miss is the folded and tucked in scarf.
Hehe... anyway...
I imagine if you log on, you'll see many attempts at the look within the next days, hehe...
(If I do mess aroud with it later, I'll take some screenies) -

Here's the next winner: Check out those pearly whites!

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I... am currently speechless at the moment.
And that does not happen a lot...
I will have to come back and form my thoughts into words better...
But... Wow!
I am so in love with this piece.
And... everyone, every time they deal with this character... uses the word "creepy" and "creep"... So... clearly you captured him here.
Oh boy did you capture him.
Anyway...
Thank you tremendously, Foo!
It is terrific!
(As soon as I saw your Miss Madcap, I had a feeling you could do a tremendous image for Malfaz... Wow... You totally did)
I am currently in your debt.

These questions are getting too specific!
The winners are bright and dark, and I think one each of hero and villain.
One has a face, the other's got a grin. (Which doesn't necessarily mean the other's NOT got a face.)
[/ QUOTE ]
Woohoo... Maybe...
Well either way... we're all in for a treat!
Here's a question:
Cake or pie? -
Hehe...
I believe he is referring to "dud"...
a: one that is ineffectual ; also : failure <a box-office dud>
b: a bomb or missile that fails to explode
So, a comicbook hero that was a flop... lame... a real dud.
Like Thor's Assassin or something...
(You were just there, TA... no particular reason I chose you!) -
They look great!
Yeah, I can totally see how WoW would be a creative killer and CoX would be inspiring.
We always have to be mindful of how our simple pastimes affect us.
Seeing these pieces makes me glad you've found out some for yourself
Now, if that "Would you people be interested in such things for your characters" was directed at us all in general...
Hells yeah! Of course!
I love mock-ups and the like.
A nice full body and head shots.
Yeah, I think you're doing some really nice work and I'm sure many people would be interested in some of those for their characters.
Like the characters in my sig... they'd love them
Haha... but yeah, if you're asking for potential commissions... I'm sure people would be interested!
Anyway, keep up the great work! And I'm glad you've come back and found some inspiration!
I look forward to seeing where it takes you! -
Yes! Really wicked piece of art there, Foo!
Me likey so much... Malfaz and I are willing to kill for one now.
-
Thanks a ton, Alex, for all of the arts, not just my characters, but I've enjoyed seeing each and every one of them!
Woohoo!
And you've done the first Malfaz art ever (Besides a few sketches done by myself, hidden in a notebook somewhere)!
Thanks again!
I like how you went for him being rather grotesque/mishapen and all. It showed you were into the spirit of the character... not just drawing it.
You did it! 98 sketches!
Maybe 99 next year!
-
Chaosred,
I've become a bit of a fan of your Virtueverse pages and your characters!
I've really enjoyed all of the ones I've looked at.
As for an SG... I'm part of the Paragon Universe, and while we have a few subteams in there, one of those is our Independents and I happen to have a violent archer and explosives user, The DarkRanger (Not to mention we have Carlin)...
And, anyway, it's a great group of role-players and people and you may find that Cobra Fist could fit in there.
I understand it's all about the right fit, but I just thought I'd mention it.
While most of the group are against killing and all... We have a few in there...
Anyway, check out the VV and the guildportal site and consider it!

You know what, I hate to grab two off of ya in this thread, but I thought you may enjoy Malfaz, so why not...
Oh, and thanks once again for all the great work, Alex!
Malfaz
Backstory
Malfaz is a tortured soul. Born a victim of his own naturally occurring psychic powers, that produce debilitating migraines and induce insanity upon himself as well as those around him (Completely out of his control)...
He also became a victim of a foul scientific experimentation after he was placed into Federal custody and kept within the clutches of a team of dark-minded psychiatrists and brain surgeons under the reign of major pharmaceutical tycoon, Richard West III President and CEO of WestCare Pharmaceuticals.
When their surgical experiments (meant to analyze and harness Malfaz's latent powers) backfired and instead gave him control of his now intensely amplified psychic powers...
Malfaz went on a murderous rage... After siphoning all of their minds, memories and knowledge.
Filled with multiple personalities, both self-created and from siphoning the minds of many of his victims, Malfaz has a broad range of knowledge and skills that are all twisted asunder by his reigning psychotic mind. He seems to believe that the societal definition of sanity is actually the prison that cages true freedom, which, according to his beliefs, society has named insanity.
This twisted viewpoint of psychology is the basis of his major criminal personality and, thus far, none of his other personalities seem to have opposed or rebelled against these core beliefs.
Malfaz now embraces his own mental illness and seeks to unleash this psychic maelstrom upon the rest of regular society.
Malfaz is a criminally insane villain who uses deadly psychic powers to wreak havoc and misery upon the rest of the world.
Appearance:
Perpetually grinning or grimacing... Likely both, Malfaz just might appear as insane as he truly is.
Malfaz's appearance gradually became more grotesque as his own powers took hold of his ill body.
Certain medications he was on to combat his chronic illnesses from childhood, combined with these powers to mutate his appearance into a sickly and scary monstrosity.
Losing all pigmentation, he turned pale white. The skin upon his face stretched thin and has left his head to look like little more than a skull.
His lips receded and left his teeth exposed in a permanent smile or grimace.
His eyeballs shrank and withered into useless black balls that fell backwards deeper into his skull.
His teeth grew stronger and larger and are in a constant state of grinding and mashing together.
This constant grinding utterly weakened his jawbones, so that he had to have a metal support structure surgically placed to hold it together.
His wiry, thin hair turned colorless.
And his body has been left weakened and close to physically useless... He is near to an invalid being propelled by pure psychic rage.

Holy wow!!
That is fantabulous!!
I haven't been around as much to comment on things lately, but I had to hop in and say that that shot is quite epic!
I love the line work you've been kicking out... but the shading on here, the swirl and trails of energy... plus the light in the background really made this one stand out!
Although, really it is the shading and the detail work that makes all the rest of it combine to be super! -
Well, I love making costumes and all, so when I remember to try some of these out, it's great fun to offer my own personal attempts to these requests!
I like what you had there originally and planned to stick with that more-so... Although everyone else's offerings look great as well.
Anyway, here's my offering:
Illusion Girl?
I liked your sleeves and the tights and skirt, and I also like that sun emblem, although I'm still not sure if I got that one right...
I just had to add in the psych pattern.
And then when I was done, the odd hair color just called to me.
I'm not sure if I veered away too far from your plan... But, regardless, I had fun doing it!
Best of luck! -
Thanks for the offer and congratulations to anyone who gets some free art!
So.. if you feel like doing something twisted:

You know, I think I goofed.
I had originally wanted the 'parents' staning behind loking stern - so I was going to put them there with arms crissed. For some reason I decided against that and went with a clenched fist.
Now I' trying to figure out a suitable excuse as to why.
lol
[/ QUOTE ]
Hehe, whatever you think you need to do...
But, for me, they just look like they're posing somewhat stoically/sternly... Like the egotists that they are.
Suits them in my eyes, but I've only got two out of the many others that'll look at it.
(Another possibility is that they're threatening the new boyfriend quietly behind States's back) -
HAHA!
Prof...
I like the way your brain works!!
And great job, mate!
Hmm... Would it be wrong of me to ask for art from you here and in the SG? ;op
Anyways, like I said elsewhere... your skills with these tools are leaping in bounds, man. The shading work is looking mighty nice.
And I have to say to this pic...
"YAHHOOOOOOOO!!" -
Whoa!
Awesome, Juggy!
I'm loving the shading (Very cel-shaded feel) you've been doing over recent times. So much of your stuff has had a look of a quality animated movie.
As for the poses, I kinda see it as though the parents have her back.
Fists clenched... warning anyone off sort of, hehe.
Although, she does look like she might be a handful.
Actually, as someone else mentioned... Look a that pic and imagine being a new boyfriend of hers, picking her up to go out on a date.
Haha! (I'd do my best to have her home before 11... But who am I kidding?)
Great job! -
Holy cow!
I loved the pose and the setup, earlier, when you showed the sketch...
I really love what you've been doing.
You've really been picking different and interesting shots (No pun intended related to this picture)!!
The water ripples and reflection and the motion blur are just excellent touches to an already excellent shot.
It's no 2nd Edition D&D illustration... It is a Baquitania!
Congrats, Hericane, on a great series for your collection!
I'm digging all of them! -
Aw, man...
I didn't even do anything!!
Hehe, you really didn't have to! However, I'm very glad you did.
It's very kind of you!
Thanks, LJ, it looks great!!
EK would like to say, "I'm very glad that my comments sparked some creativity and generosity! This whole exchange has been rather shocking!"
I'll send a PM now!
Chrysame!!!
Your check is in the mail!
Everyone's being too nice to me... Is there something bad you all know that you haven't told me about yet?
<.<

Well, I did a tiny bit of messing around, but did not deviate from the Booster Gold design much...
Here's my attempt at getting Booster Gold down pretty much as well as I could figure. Booster Gold
But here's my attempt with different colors and all... trying to base t around the power set's colors and the villain world.
Booster Brute
I saved the costume files in case you'd want them. Like I said though, I didn't do much at all. The sleek tights and the diablo pattern gave me the closest results to his chest costume.
And sleek tights for pants as well.
Anyway, best of luck!!
I just saw the pic and felt like trying to match his costume to see how close you could get... and figured I'd give this a try! ;o) -
Wow!
Yay! I was just so glad that you actually appreciated that compliment!
You never know what someone else might think of such a comment.
Haha, I'm thrilled that it means the same thing to you that it does to me, hehe!
And woohoo! Thank you very much! That was totally not necessary!!
You have officially done the first Electric-Knight art (Well, besides my doodles and sketches here and there... Especially years ago when I designed him for table top rpg... Marvel RPG top be precise).
Thank you very much, LJ!
That was very awesome of you.
And keep up the great work! -
Great job of capturing the battle!
I like the idea behind it very much.
Plus... sibling brawls and such... They -have- to come down to getting in close and punching, pulling, scracthing, biting... anything it takes... Especially when your powers offset each other -and- they know each other's motives like they might (being siblings).
Close quarters is the way to go!
Good going, Alex! -
Oh, beautiful, LJ!
Definitely a great pose... Love the feel.
I'm hesitant to say this, as it almost makes it sound like I don't like the color (But I do, I do, haha!) something about this piece makes me really love that Ink version.
I suppose it is the dark, shadowy nature of it and the simple contrast in black and white.
Also, something about it, I suppose, calls to me as it has a Larry Elmore-ish look... I could imagine seeing that Ink version inside a 2nd Edition D&D book (Which is a very great thing for me, anyways, haha).
Anyway... silly ramble there... Me likes!
