  1. I'm glad to see that head sliders are loading properly from saved costumes and replacing the existing in-game character's head sliders.

Just a quick note about it though, now the Slider "reset" button only resets the body sliders and not the head sliders.
I imagine you'd want it to reset both.

Regardless, being able to load the head sliders at the tailor is terrific (Most often, on live, it will not load saved head sliders onto an existing character at the tailor).
    So, that's a nice fix!

I also noticed the frozen animations and such, however, the saved costumes animate while selecting them to load.
  2. Hello and thank you for all the welcomes!

  6. I'll just add not to despair.
You'll have great times and interactions... and sometimes you'll have... less-than-great ones...

There are plenty of Non-RPers on Virtue and even plenty of RPers that don't stay 100% IC when teaming and such.

I find that the key for myself is just staying true to what I enjoy (100% RP) and move on from a team if the back and forth just isn't fun enough.

So, I wouldn't say you were just lucky with your first team.
It was just a good one to start with. Be glad for it and continue to do your thing... I hope you find the fun you're looking for and stick around!

    Welcome to Virtue!

(I haven't done much spontaneous RP Villainside other than some PuG's here and there... as opposed to Heroeside... So, I can't offer anything much more specific).

Often times, RP breeds more RP. However, if the people you're with clearly aren't into it.. Move on!

Hm, I'm pretty sure there's no cutscene during the TF, but the SF has one. I think I know what thing you're referring to here, though...

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yes, sorry. I've never adopted the whole 'call it this on one side, but this on the other'.

I wasn't sure which side the cutscene took place on, but it's the one where you're rendered unconscious.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I hear you on that one!
To add into this topic and possible reasons why I tend to use TF when referring to Red Side...
The phrase Strike Force just puts images of Tito Santana and Rick Martel into my brain...

  8. You heard it here first!

    The Devs hate Heroes!!

(Hey, I think I'm starting to feel like I belong here)

  9. Haha!

    First off, welcome to Virtue!
I've only been around a year and a half or so... But yeah, it's a great place and a good representation of CoH's fun community (In my opinion).

Just for the record, sometimes RPers break out of the whole bracket thing if the situation is clearly not an In-Character thing.

However, many of us do not.
I always use an OOC indication when I'm not talking IC.

    Anyways...

More importantly, here is a cool bind IF you are at all interested (Or anyone else, for that matter):

    /bind o "afk ((Speaking OOC))$$beginchat ((OOC)): "

    Lemme 'splain...

Using ((OOC)): works just as well as (( blah blah blah )) or whatever else (Some people use plain old single brackets [ heya ] It really doesn't matter, people get the point).

Now... someone came up with the clever idea of creating a little bubble above your head when you are typing!
That way, people around you know that you are beginning to type something and that your character is in the process of saying something. It's a very cool little player-made feature.
    And that bind offers that.
It simply uses the customizable afk message.
So, a little bubble sits over your head, indicating that you're saying something.

You can also put that into your ENTER key (If you think that idea is as cool as my sister's boyfriend's uncle's neighbor does).

    /bind ENTER "afk talking$$beginchat "

Now... the text following "afk" can be anything you want (Within a limited number).

Some players use that to describe the sound of the character's voice, "speaks with a gruff voice"... or the manner in which they speak, "talks quickly, slurring some words"... an accent... Or some people just have some funny/cute ones... Like, "Is about to say something important..." or "Oh oh oh..." or "((This may take a while))"... LOL.

Anyways... Okay... I hope I didn't scare anyone away!!!

    <.<

    >.>

Haha... One last note... that RPer that wasn't using brackets just may have been looney OOCly.

Plenty of us are!! (As are plenty Non-RPers)

Welcome, once again. We won't bite! (Well, maybe watch out for the Pocket D dwellers... they might)

Oh, I am right there with ya, AkuTenshiiZero!

I don't really care much though... as costume change emotes aren't really something I'm into for any of my characters (Actually, there IS one, but I haven't played him in a while... And EK can use the lightning one as a joke... he used to make fun of a magical friend that snapped his fingers when performing an instant-change).

    ANYWAYS...
I too am a nitpicky RPer... However, I just don't have characters that change costumes in an instant, nor in public.

The ONLY thing I would use the ccelaugh change for would be for my villain, Malfaz.
He wears a hat and trenchcoat or a cloak when out and about in disguise... And then, inside of a mission (Or whenever he no longer cares to hide himself), he shrugs out of those things.

An elaugh and costume change kinda of works for shrugging off a cape or jacket.

    So...

I must say... As a Nitpicky RPer, I do it the old fashioned way...
    I tyyyype it.

You can also make a bind for emoting and costume changing together...
Although, I actually just prefer to type it in on the spot... I can get the timing better that way.

    <.<

So there, silly fancy special effects lamoes!!

    Argh.

/em flip now ends with you permanently in the "idle ready" animation. The one where you have one foot forward, and females are arms akimbo.

This used to put you in the "hands on hips" animation, and leave you in the idle animation swap loop (moving between hands on hips, arms crossed and foot forward)

This probably seems like a silly thing to be frustrated by, but I used /em flip to force characters into the idle cycle for screenshot and demo purposes.

    [/ QUOTE ]
I kinda like the new version. Maybe what we need is /em idle so you don't need to use a workaround to get you into the animation loop you want?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Try /em Idle1 or /em Idle2. I put those in back when we did the wedding event.

Between those and the /em akimbo /em crossarms emotes, you should be able to get the stance you're looking for

    [/ QUOTE ]

Unless it has just been removed in I15, "/em none" does this!
And yes, I was wondering when all this spiffy emote fixing work BABs had mentioned a while ago would come to us!
I hope these changes and fixes don't get too delayed by that power customization stuff that no one has ever asked for and you guys are going to be slaving over...

Anyways... yeah... /em none should get you to do the standard idle animations.

    Magic Origin

Simply because, no matter how advanced and far-reaching science, technology and understanding becomes...
    Magic always lies beyond that.
  13. [ QUOTE ]
Actually ; would be even less typing, but personally I'm used to slash commands. Plus I already have ; bound to something else

    [/ QUOTE ]

    No no
; is defaulted to "/emote" already! It seems to be a little known thing. I love hitting that instead of typing "/e"

Well... until it got broken recently, hehe... and I had to rebind it.

Still... I think it is fixed on Test now and ";" once again works as "/emote".

And yeah... "/a" is great. Anything pretty much works for me... Just so long as we keep "/emote" and ";" retaining the same functionality!
  14. Would it be possible to keep it one command/key for both animated emotes and texted emote bubbles (As it is now)...
And adding something like a double slash to prevent an improperly typed emote from appearing in a chat bubble?

    e.g.
"/emote grins" and "/emote sitchair2" would both work as they do on live now.
"//emote sitchair2" would result in the character performing the sitchair2 animation.
"//emote chairsit" would just result in no bubble appearing (As it is an improper emote command)

The additional slash works as a sort of safety tool to prevent you from making an embarrassing emote blunder

Perhaps a double slash is asking too much.

The only thing I'd request is for the chat emotes and action emotes to not be forced apart.
I would prefer to rely upon just the one key for all my emoting.
Yes, I occasionally blunder (We all do), but I'm confident enough in my ability to type to enjoy only requiring one key for my emoting.

Haha... Not a big deal... Just my immediate thought upon seeing this cool suggestion.
  15. Well, I truly hope if everything is legit and all that the player gets their character back (Not sure about the costume, I'd have to see the current costume and whatnot, and it's not my place to judge that really anyways). Does anyone have a reason why the name would even be any problem? I'm just curious.

For two reasons I'm quoting Celestial Fury's first post in here:

    [ QUOTE ]
I have a character named Amazing Amazon and she once got genericed. But i did not give up and brought the issue at support, i complained at Castle and ExLibris, i did everything i could think of to get the attention of authorities and/or influent people in CoX.

Finally, i won my case! I got my name back after 2 weeks of generication.

But you know what? If a moron petitioned my char again, i woudl have to do all again the whole thing. It sucks like that.

Lighthouse once told me that they had taken the whole thing about the naming policy way too far and that things were supposed to smoothen a bit in the future. They were supposed to cut some slack to players and stop the witch hunt. I guess he was wrong.

Anyway, OP has my sympathy and i pray for his good fight.

    [/ QUOTE ]

First off, that's one of the most useful replies in here for the player going through this issue. Hopefully this can also give you a little hope.

    Secondly...
I had actually heard about your case through a friend!
We were dumbfounded that your character had been Genere'cized and I never heard any more about it.
I just wanted to say that I am truly glad it was settled positively and you got her back.
    That was pretty ridiculous.
Mistakes happen and all... That must have sucked to have that happen though.

Just everyone try and remember... there are worse things... So, just go through the process, stick to it, and hopefully everything turns out right.

I am always glad to see some love going your way because I think you deserve it, big time.
  17. I believe it was after I14 that the Valkyrie single shoulder cape option disappeared (For those without the Vet Reward of the single shoulder capes).

Was this intentional or a bug?
I do not recall seeing anything mentioned about it (Although, I may have missed it).
  18. Huh, we've never interacted...
We've never met at any cons...
We've never spoken in-game or out of game or anything...
    Hehe...

But I check the forums and the community tracker regularly...
And I love this community... And you are a big part of why it has stayed so cool.

I can't think of any time I read anything you've posted and thought anything other than, "That Ex does her job so well".

So, I will indeed miss you in this role.

However, I'm glad you're such a fan of the game as well and maybe I'll catch you at a Con one day (I'm considering going to Hero Con '09).

Enjoy yourself as a player... And follow the rules on the forums!! You don't want to become a problem and cause stress on your former peers!

Best of luck with the new horizon!
  19. Nice!
Way to take pride in the work you've done on a great and fun game!

At least... If you insist on the Rank 6... Implement a voting system that Rank 5 Leaders use to create the Sole Rank 6 member AND for forced demotion from Rank 6 (If the matter comes to such things).

    [/ QUOTE ]

Only problem here is that this too can be abused.

If a Rank 6 has done absolutely nothing wrong, and the Rank 5's decide to Mutiny, and Force-Demote-Kick him; Is that Fair?

No matter what they do, some peeps will find a way to use it against the purpose it was intended for.

One man's perfect fix is another man's nightmare.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I should add to the idea I suggested that, if there is only one Rank 5 Leader (The highest rank now), there is no vote and all... That Rank 5 Leader is now the Super Leader and there need be no other Rank 5 members until/unless that SL decides to promote any.
When and if there are other members promoted to Rank 5, then there could be a possible mutiny.
Otherwise, why would a single leader SG need to have any Rank 5's to worry about a possibly mutiny?
And, if enough such ranked members do believe that is best... then either they should not have been given Rank 5 or they are performing their duty and doing what is best for the SG over all.

That is not "abuse" that would be a functional usage of the system.
  21. I shared my opinions about this SL thing back when it first leaked and I've seen nothing that changes my thoughts on it.

I wish you/they could have come up with something different.
It's not going to cause any foreseeable problems for me or the group I am a part of, but I don't only dislike things that would adversely affect myself.

If you wanted self demote (Hey, we'd like to see it as well), put it in.
If you wanted a designated SG/CS Liaison, put it in.

If you want to give players a means of demoting a Rank 5... Put it in! (Rank 5 members could call a Rank 5 Demote Vote and their votes would create or prevent the demotion).

It would have been better not to mix these things up into a "Super Leader" rank.

If people/players/customers have an issue where they would like to demote/kick another Rank 5 Leader, but cannot... Then that means there is potential that there will be situations in which people will have a problem with the one sole person that has the Rank 6 Super Leader designation.

    So, what then?

Add in a Rank 7 for eliminating this problem?

Mandating that a single SG member must have kicking and demoting abilities above all other SG members goes against what has stood as individually customizable SG Leadership options.
There's no argument or discussion about that.
    It is what it is.

I just think it would have been better to implement the things you wanted without creating a potentially worse problem...
A situation in which someone unwanted and/or unworthy becomes the SL and damages/destroys other people's fun.

Again, if there are situations where some SG's wish to get a current Rank 5 out of there, why wouldn't there be a situation where an SG wishes that a certain Rank 5 didn't become the Rank 6?

    Bring in the Rank 7's!

And then in Issue 16, we can have Rank 8's!

At least... If you insist on the Rank 6... Implement a voting system that Rank 5 Leaders use to create the Sole Rank 6 member AND for forced demotion from Rank 6 (If the matter comes to such things).

Ah well, I suppose I could just go and relax in my very happy and comfortable SG where I don't fear any such problems... Even though we use are a group of multiple leaders.

And yes, this post is littered with a bit of humor. No, I'm not paranoid and yes, they are out to get us all.
Seriously though, I'm just expressing my opinions one more time (Since it had ben a while on this subject).
  22. Well, this inspired me to go give such an idea a try... Hehe, and I enjoyed that.
I forgot about the fact you said it was for a shield brute... I'll have to go back and see what that looks like (I think the shield should add another cool element to it overall).

Anyways, it is hard to not look more like a robot being patched up with spare bits than pure junk... but here's what I got!
    Junk-Bot

At the time I made the collage, I wasn't sure about a few options, so I included a few.
The belt: I like the chain wrap one best, but the enforcer and the cyborg belts work well as a welded connector piece.

And the shoulders: I like the gladiator shoulders here for the asymmetrical design.
The heavy neckchain also looks kind of cool, so I included that one as well.

Anyways, best of luck. This just sounded too fun not to try, hehe.
If only I had been inspired sooner, I could have entered it into Naz's contest!
