Ooh, I like the shark week idea...
And you could have a special event where Statesman jumps the shark!!
-
WANT SHARKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Haha... man, oh man... that's such a great idea... It can be a little depressing to hear about things that are scrapped due to potential/probable exploits/misuses.
Now... I could just ask for sharks to be put into the seas... with or without lasers (Preferably both)...
But I'll go a few steps (see parsecs) further and request full Sea Zones, with Pirate Ships, Submarines, Underwater Content, Krakken, Giant Tortoises, Whales, Deadly Whirpools, Lightning Storms, Swarms of Radioactive Jellyfish, Meddling Maniacal Mollusks, Atlantians, Defecting Cubans, Sea Monsters, Ghost Ships, Ed Harris, Sirens, Non-Pirate Ships, a Lost Ship Full of Ninja, a GM Shark the size of 4 Rikti Ships that shoots lasers, bile, ice and parasite minions AND can swallow you hole so that you are trapped in its stomach and have to fight your way out (After fending off the nutty society that has developed within the GM shark's innards who believe it is "humanity's rightful place of existence" and refuse to let anyone leave)...
Now... if you cannot get to everything in this list... Please just consider putting the sharks in with possibly no xp and maybe prevent them from reaching the beaches as well.
I am not only offering these suggestions for free... I will accept pay for them as well!
-
Even though I knew it was coming soon... It's still exciting to see these words, heehee!!
*does happy dance* -
Erf! Haha, somehow I knew I was missing something obvious.
I was looking with my heart and not with my eyes, hehe.
Thanks!! -
Quote:I can only see the first image... Is that with the new changes? Or before the changes?
If it is after the changes, how are you accomplishing that?
Matching colors with a specific emblem? Do tell! -
Quote:nobody in closed beta is allowed to tell you. Nda and all that... Wait for open beta.
EDIT: Strange... the forums removed a bunch of capitalization from my own comment and the comments I quoted! Even the smiley was converted to :d and I chose it from the smiley pictures... Heh... when does the Forum beta end? ;op -

Thanks for the reply, Niviene!
You're all doing this so quickly, I figured I'd take advantage before you may get swamped and slowed down(In before the crowds!)
Quote:I think you should either keep this offer open until I16 goes live, or maybe open it up again with each of the next few Issues, as there will be quite a few people who take advantage of the reactivation weekends who will come here and find their names have the "NA/EU" tags on them.
Hehe, I guess we'll see, but no indication of plans to stop! -
Just some friendly advice (And personal opinion):
To anyone that loses the battle over a beloved forum handle...
I, personally, don't see any problem with the _EU/_NA suffix.
So, if you love the name... consider putting that option as your second choice and stick with it should your counterpart have beaten you to the email.
Best of luck to all!
Can we have dashes in the handles now instead of only underscores?
I may ask for a change myself -
Hey there!
I'm curious how your pantomime routines are going to play out on the forums...
Oh, wait... "Skeleton"!
-
That's some goodbye post... Quite impressive, AC.
Stay "angry", aggressive and determined... but always enjoy it.
Looks like you've gotten some very solid advice about school thus far. (Some of it sounds kind of like planning your build very thoroughly. Plot out your power choices, enhancement slotting and Task Force planning)
Follow it. Find your true self and keep in touch with that.
Stay in the moment.
Do your best and when you fall short of that now and then, do better next time.
Best of luck! -
Quote:HAHAIf France lands on me, I would hopefully be killed upon impact.
Otherwise I'd be stuck under all of France (under an undetermined amount of land mass/rubble) without the promise of a rescue team. Although, France is kind of a big place so I suppose I wouldn't be the only one crushed, so they may have a lot of people trying to unearth everything to get to us. Even then there's no promise I'd get rescued before I ran out of air or starved. That's assuming my lungs weren't crushed and fill with blood or something.
Then again, even if I did survive and was saved, it would only be to meet my inevitable end as whatever caused France to rocket across the planet and land on Texas would also probably cause polar shifts in the planet and possibly the melting/incineration of the planet as it's thrown off balance and thrust into the sun.
*hands Dispari a very sturdy umbrella, just in case*
Okay... SO, seriously...
Am I the only one here that the "go to next unread post" rockets way past where I last left off (And not where to somewhere I've already read)? -
I'd love to see (And I think it's a bit ideal and not going to happen or anything, but hey, doesn't stop me from sharing it)...
A Name Request sort of thingie system!
(Official name still under works)
Where a customer could submit a name they are interested in using.
IF that name is being held by an inactive account, an automated email is sent to the address attached to that account holder.
The person with the inactive account is given notification that their character's name is in demand and they are informed that they have a time period (Say... within 3 months) to reactivate their account or else that name may be taken.
That's just my opinion.
Many people believe that people who are away for great amounts of time for important reasons deserve to have their names kept for them no matter how long it's been.
I don't feel that way, but whatever... it's just opinions.
And, in the end, the opinions of the people running CoH (regarding this subject) are the only ones that end up mattering in terms of how it all works out!
And so far we've seen... they'd rather let people keep names, even from Trial Accounts and one month players.
Personally, instead of holding off name purges based on the amount of time that they are inactive and the level of the character(s) in question... I'd rather see that loyalty based on veteran status/amount of time subscribed!
If a player played for multiple years and has been inactive for two years, give them some leeway. A player that was subscribed for one or two months and been away for a year or two? I'd like to see those names opened up.

Quote:A few ingame things i have noticed:
If a EU player will go on the US server, or talk about gameplay, know this:
-Its common as blaster to have tough, prefered weave
-You are gimped if you are not softcaped or at least purple IO'ed
-Badges are nothing, as long u got the basic ones of AE you're good.
-Without a kin, dont even start the mission.. you will loose, or everyone leaves after first mob.
-If you are looking for a group, use /b, /l and request channel, 5 times, by default.
-If you are a kin troller, you better be fire/, else welcome to City of Solo.
-Even if you are just lvl8, you should be a full tanker from lvl1 and tank 53bosses without problems.
-Knockback equals kick
-If you are sonic, thermal, frost or FF, dont worry about shields, nobody will noticed. If you are Kin, DO YOUR FREAKING JOB. (aka, SB everyone, FS every group).
-Defenders do _not_ exist in City of Heroes. If they do, they are gimped blasters. Trollers do just perfectly fine for support.
-Never.. i mean never, serious never, mention that it might be better to lower the difficulty a bit to speed things up, you are soooo wrong. Purple mobs equal exp, got it?
-As british, dont try funny jokes, they just wont understand
-There are no travelpowers, Atlas aint that big!
-Learn the 'convert 3 insp into 1' rule, you look stupid when you reply to 'what u need?', 'a rez?'.
-Never make jokes about Obama sounds like Osama. Ever. (this apply to forum rules 31: when WW2 is dragged into the conversation, the whole conversation reached its end).
-Nobody knows Golden Girl..serious, they dont. (really? Impossible!! i know.. weird people).
-Blind teaminvites equals AE missions.
-Chimora is actualy populated, it is not a ghost town.
-If you do the Chimora TF, pretend u spamming powers, even though the whole time you never see anyone moving (LAAAAAAAG).
-If you only do AE, never put enhancements in your powers, you look silly.
-The avarage framerate on peekhours in AE Atlas - Freedom is around 0.25.
-You never crash, you DC.
-Buff random people fighting on the streets, you get very friendly replies (serious).
-It is common to use a dot or a misspell in your name, it makes you look 'veteran'.
probably more, but this should be enougha
Wait...
Is it seriously not like this elsewhere??
Can you do transfers from NA to EU servers??
Oh...
And does the following quote apply?
"None of you understand. I'm not locked up in here with you. You're locked up in here with me."
And... adding to the list:
- Don't mention the war (I mentioned it once, but I think I got away with it)
-
Quote:OK, I've had about as much as I can take of this nonsense. I try to be a reasonable person, when my first reaction to the new boards software was "What the hell, man! What the hell!" I thought I'd keep my cool and just give myself time to adapt. New forum software, new interface, a lot of stuff to learn. It'll be all good, right? Wrong. Not when a basic functionality such as going to the first unread post completely and plainly doesn't work.
What should "Go to first new post" do? Well, judging by its name, it should take me to the first post made into a thread since I last checked it. Fat chance. Not only does it not take me to a new post, it actually counts posts I made as new. Um, hello! They're not news to me. I made them. But, OK, technically they are new, so I can roll with that. But even that aside, this still doesn't work.
Here's how the forums have been working for me all day: I haven't logged in for around a week, so when I logged into the forums today, there were a lot of new threads and a lot of old threads with new replies in them. I used the microscopic little triangle to go to the first new post in them and, lo and behold, it took me where it was supposed to. So I posted in a few threads, took a stroll around the house while the windows in my living room were being replaced, came back to the forums and decided to check out what had happened in the past half hour.
You'd think the posts made AFTER I posted would be new, but no! The little triangle thing kept taking me back to the OLD posts that had been newest when I first came online today, but were no longer newest or unread. I read them. In fact, I quoted them. It's kind of hard to quote someone if you haven't read his post. The "Quote" button is right next to each post, so I have to at least have had the post drawn on my screen. But no, that's still undread and the damn function keeps bringing me there, so I have to scroll down, flip through the pages and manually find the last post I read. Well what the HELL is the point of having an option to take me to the first new post if it doesn't take me to the first new post but some random location in the thread so I have to manually look for the REAL first post? At that point, I may as well start from page one.
I tried to give these forums a chance, I really did. But it's just one thing after another. The colour scheme sucks, the functionality is down the toilet for the most basic stuff, direct-poster replies and multi-level quotes are gone... And now I'm finding that the most basic functionality of any forum - finding where you left off a thread - isn't working right. Oh, and the Dev Digest is still gone, to the point where players are having to make their own. Now, I'm grateful to the many people who have rigged up versions of the digest, but come on! What did this forum shuffle fix that was worth breaking practically everything?
I'm sorry. I just finally feel fully justified in being very loudly indignant. This is an absurd, embarrassing step down from what we had before, and it's only getting worse.
*edit*
And for the love of pi, where did the link to the official game site go? The old forums had a link to the effect of "Go back to City of Heroes" which brought you back to cityofheroes.com. No such thing exists now, and even clicking the banner up top brings me to http://boards.cityofheroes.com/index.php, the root of the forums (for which a link already exists) rather than back to the official site. Since I don't have any tabs with it open right now, the only way to check the server status is to open a brand new tab and write in the url by hand. Why was this functionality removed? Was it a problem to have a basic link of convenience?
Just to be a complete wisearse and purely for simplistic (But somewhat extensive) humor, I'm quoting this without reading it...
Okay... Now I am going back and reading the rest of this.
By the way... am I the only person that constantly gets taken to new posts way past previous new posts that I have not yet read when clicking on the little triangles? Everyone's always complaining that they get taken to posts they've seen already... But I get taken past several posts (Sometimes pages) further than I've yet to read. It's kind of like a hyper-active fast forward button. I then have to scroll up, up, up for a while until I finally find a post I've already seen!
EDIT: And let me tell you that this shooting too far forward in threads has killed a lot of suspense and enjoyment in reading these things. It ruins it when I know that the debates about whether AE is killing the game and/or whether GR is Issue 17 or not aren't going to come to a resolution in the previous replies I'm having to scroll up to read... Okay... carry on ;op

Quote:I hope you don't mind... I'd like to give you a cyber hug *hugs*I recently posted what was clearly just a rant in this topic, I apologise for wasting time and forum space and will attempt to provide helpful opinions and ideas in future post's
Passion can come through in different ways... sometimes in rants, hehe.
Anyone who holds anything against someone for maybe making some ill conceived (or ill-delivered) comments is being silly themselves.
Didn't want to make this long, but anyways, I love seeing people stand up and be real.
*hug* -
Does anyone else think that looks like a giant toilet?
I generally don't think fondly of most any cliques...
But their existence does not bother me.
If all traditions that were celebrated within my world were kept to only what I preferred, there'd be a lot of unhappy and repressed people.
Eh, maybe they deserve to be... but...
For now, I'm a lenient entity.
Anyways... giant toilet... right? -
Well... it was news to me until I read it in your post!
Very cool!
I hope we see more new/proliferated ancillaries added in to match up with all of the powersets eventually!
Haha, they're behind though... We want Electric Mastery for Scrappers now! Heehee!
Anyways, another great addition! Yay! -
Quote:Yes! I Love the concept!!The concept if anyone is curious for, pohsyb or (pohsib):
A dilapidated and malfunctioning robot abandoned by his inventor (a different character that tries to mix magic and technology, but usually fails). Left alone, the robot has an epiphany and becomes a religious zealot believing that the universe is really a giant computer and that god is binary.
This half-mad glitchy robot begins proselytizing his beliefs (with violence if necessary) and soon begins to work actual miracles (explaining any powers he has whenever I roll him) indicating there may be something more to his beliefs than pure lunacy.
I really love that!
So, you have this character created!!
Pics or it didn't happen?
How far off was my design?
And thanks a ton for sharing!
I love reading people's bios in-game and I love this piece of art... So, it's great to get this info!! -
Quote:Or maybe they can still use the "old system" in such a case?Give the 50 the star.
Edit: Strike that. The 50 will have quit the team but stay in the mission, because it's "to the mission owner" when you're in a mission.
I'm not clear now... Players will be allowed to Exemp the "old way" through their options, should they so wish... How might that play into this type of scenario?
Still, this is great... And really... there's no harm in just having them quit the team in order to help you blast through the mission... But yeah... can they SK you up and over the mission level to romp through it?
Hmmm...
-
Hahaha! I am so very happy to hear/read about these changes!
Beautiful job, Team! Simply great!
No more having to run into that wall of... heh, I like your term "Mentor Tetris".
Quote:Yes indeed!!!I'd like to say how very nice this system will make non-AE teams for my RP SGs. We've got a lot of characters of a lot of different levels. And until AE, it was always a challenge to find something for us to do together (if we didn't have half the team in the right level range), and mostly we ended up Flashbacking down to an arc that the very lowest level could do.
When AE came along, that problem was solved by AE missions with limited level ranges. And with i15, it got even better because the designers didn't have to play tricks to limit the range. But now, with i16, we'll all be able to do non-AE arcs with anyone, get xp with anyone, and rp with anyone while still 'playing the game.'
Thank you so much.
I am truly pleased! -
I am definitely intrigued by the prospect of a A/TA Corrupter and have wished for one in the past.
I may roll a new version of The Dark-Ranger, but I'm not 100% positive.
Traegus, I understand what you were thinking and share a similar mentality regarding my enjoyment and all...
However, I believe you jumped the gun on this one AND you worded it very poorly.
While we could argue that, realistically, no one would ever use a bow and arrow when they could simply command other energies masterfully...
We could go on the same track for countless combinations throughout the game and throughout the genre... not to mention for most of supernatural fantasy.
Seriously, we could nitpick a lot of things and take them down to the level of, "Huh... yeah, if someone had THAT power, it makes NO sense to..."
However, there also are ways (As have been put forth) to make it work.
More importantly, Luminara, you handled things very well.
It is something to be admired and should be appreciated by others.
*bows*
Traegus, hey, we all make mistakes. Seriously.
Lumi... I'd imagine you've written so much about the powers and such that it's near impossible to not spot those facets. I mean, Dark means they can't hit me so well, etc.
Really, I am so very far away from anything that comes close to a power gamer or number-cruncher (Seriously, haha... so very far away)... However, even I enjoy seeing the combination results of powers.
It's the video game equivalent of trying to discover peanut butter and jelly.
Anyways... All archery Corrupter for me eventually... for sure! -
Quote:I think this is uncalled for. MMOs are a social game, and the forums are a social environment. I certainly don't look at people negatively for wanting to communicate and socialize with other human beings, even if it is only virtually.
Having met a number of people that post regularly on the forums in real life, I can attest that most of them seem to be perfectly normal people, with family and friends, more than capable of having a life outside of this game and these forums.
This post, btw, is being made on a Saturday night at 9:03 pm. Take that as you will.
Well said, Mr. Bruce!
But what I really wanted to do was react the the bit I bolded...
HAHA : )
*applauds*
