  1. I've only done 3 characters so far (5 respecs total) and I already want to beat my face against a wall.
Gratz on toughing it out through 70 of them.
Only 38 more characters for me, maybe I'll get done by 2012

Ya, guilty pleasure, the anime version is called Karin.

I'm also enjoying a Korean manga, Black God, give it a try.
  3. Since Frostfire is a hero now, he no longer believes that its right to enslave poor Jack and those flaming monkeys and have them fight and die for him. So he ran a Terra Volta respec and dropped those powers.
My question though is who ran the respec with him?
  4. At this time of year, forced to listen to holiday music, I always flash back to this scene and smile.
    Big Marx Brothers fan.

Z, that sounds like her energy Bayonet. Those things are nasty, and she is an EB after all.
Tech, didn't you buy the cure for the curse of weariness? You craft it on the Vanguard table in the RWZ.
  6. Go to the FTP site and download the CohUpdater.eu.exe and put it on your desktop. Start it up and point it at your CoH directory, that way you won't have to re-download everything. The US and EU client are the same, only the updater is different.
  7. Since the log in to the game and the log in for the forums is the same you obviously have them right. Just to cover all the bases, you didn't have Caps Lock on when trying to log in to the game?
Is your account US or EU? And are you using the correct updater? The US Updater is CohUpdater.exe, the EU one adds an extra .EU in there, CohUpdater.eu.exe.
  8. Not really, C is always Windows, D is games and I haven't needed another HD (yet). That's about it, my entire collection of music is small enough it doesn't warrant its own drive, its just in Documents.
  9. I'm thinking the Concealment pool is going to be real popular, it has 3 powers you can drop LotG +7.5% Recharge in. I'm going to be taking it on a good number of builds that otherwise could only squeeze 2 or 3 of them in. Just leave them with their base slot and not use them for the most part.
    Ya recharge!

I 6 slotted Kick with Kinetic Crash on my Fire/Fire Scrapper and like to use it as a finishing move, it looks like she kicks them in the nads and they go flying. It always makes me giggle

Join some global servers. Whichever server you're on you can do a channel search, you can sort that list to show you the most populated room and the rooms with the most people online. Join a bunch of channels, and watch for TFs and teams starting up.

Go to the Forum section for your server(s) and see if there's a thread for Global Channels for that server. If there isn't, start a thread asking what are the popular Globals there. You'll meet lots of interesting people, have fun teaming, make friends, and depending on which Global you joined, you may have more than a few inappropriate conversations

Also, a lot of the game lore is revealed in the story arcs, at some point you'll want to experience them (or you could just read about them at the Wiki but its more fun running the arcs yourself, and you get Merits for completing them.)

    Have fun.
  12. I guess I'm the only one who deliberately does NOT get their costume "right" the first time for most of my characters. I like seeing my characters grow and develop into the hero/villain they want to be, so the older (i.e. higher level) they get, the more their costume reflects who they want to be.
  13. Looks like its still on sale this morning, hopefully it'll still be on sale when you get around to it later today moonbound.
  14. I remembered 8 of them, oh well.
  15. In Weave and Maneuvers, slot 2 Gift of the Ancients and 2 LotG (I use GotA Def/End and Def/End/Rec, LotG Def and Recharge Speed). That increases your Recovery by 4%.

For Purple sets I usually slot 5 of the 6 leaving off the Dam/End (sometimes the Dam/Rchg), do that for Body Blow (leave off Dam/End) and pick up a slot. Do this also for Focused Burst but leave off the Dam/Rchg. For Burst I'd leave off the Dam/Rchg. Drop the extra slot into Build Up with a level 50 Recharge IO.
Also note that slotting Enzymes instead of Cytoskeletons for the extra Defence boost is considered an exploit by the Devs.

    Those are my thoughts.

Interesting idea but I don't think its necessary.

The other thing I've always wanted to see is either shorter-interruption or even uninterruptible Assassin's Strike. Stalkers really shouldn't be running around scrapping all the time, because they make poor scrappers sans their Hide. They should have an easier time re-hiding and re-assassinating.
I find my stalkers scrap pretty well, and as for re-hiding, that's what Placate is for.

Stalkers are explicitly designed around single target damage and aggro-based mitigation. Those signature stalker skills are both underperformers on teams The problem is:

A - AS is very good DPA, however its animation is SO bloody long that no matter the difficulty you never have a chance to use it on teams.

B - Placate not only has the potential of screwing up aggro for everyone, but on teams its unlikely the stalker is taking enough aggro to need to use it.

C - The stalker's single target damage does not exceed available single target damage of ATs not designed as single target assassins, even WITH AS.

    The solutions could be:

A - Strengthen AS as part of the team buff mechanic. Call it a distraction bonus. The more stuff distracting your target, the easier it is to isolate the sweet spot and stab the **** out of it. Each team member grants your AS a shorter activation time and increased damage.

B - Allow placate to be used on allies. Placating at an ally (may require alternate animation or facing) would grant a wide PBAoE -taunt, similar to the way AS grants a terrorize. This places stalkers an a unique position to "anti-tank" Simultaneously helping both squishies and other melee be keeping aggro focused. This gives the stalkers the ability to do for teams what they can do for themselves, manipulate aggro at will in a deflective rather than absorptive fashion.

C - Increase global damage bonus OR give stalkers an additional BU-style autohit damage buff for each successful AS. This encourages stalkers to use their signature tools often, and rewards them for isolating and successfully assassinating things. Again, this combines with the team buff to AS to ensure the stalker spends his time stalking the biggest, hardest, toughest thing in the mob, or leveraging GOBS of damage at large single hard targets.

I believe these propositions would create a stalker teams wanted for its ability to do for teams exactly what it does solo. Kill hard targets extremely quickly with AS, and defensively manage aggro via placate.
I don't think stalkers need more damage, we do pretty darn well, but I really like your suggestion B. Being able to Placate a mob off the Blaster would make me feel valuable to the team, that would be a great soft control that could make a stalker a desired team mate.

Ditto. I don't feel like my stalker can contribute enough on a team so that I don't feel like a leach. Ninjitsu has Caltrops and Blinding Powder, which can help the team occasionally but I still don't feel that I made a real contribution to the team's success. So solo it is for my stalkers.

The character info is stored server side, when you log in that info is passed to your client (how else could you open your enhancement screen and see your slotting). These guys figured out how to parse that info out and the badge info when you open your info screen, which I don't think is a trivial achievement by any means. A brilliant implementation in my opinion.

You have to manually pick your pool powers it looks like.

I love the Mid's export, it makes life so much easier. I no longer have to manually update my Mid's current build for my characters and that is AWESOME!

    Thanks!

  22. I can't believe no one mentioned the Mentor Project yet.
And the Help global channel is also good for asking questions, make sure you are looking at one of your tabs that monitors the Help channel when you're asking questions in it
Its already been mentioned, but I'll repeat, to send a message to the Help channel you type /hc <message>
  23. Caltrops does minimal damage, if you really want to slot it with Ragnaroks though, replace the Accuracy/Recharge (you lose 2 seconds) with the Chance for Knockdown. Now you can hit them when they're down
