  1. I've been watching Asura Cryin' on Crunchyroll. Its an action anime with magic, demons, ghosts, mecha, cyborgs and a big mystery all taking place in a high school. Its weird and entertaining, what more could you want?
  2. Sam, didn't they give you an invoice for the parts? If they did, look up the PS.
You mentioned Everest, have you used it to do some stress testing of your system? You might try 3DMark for some more stress testing and compare it to the results here, if you numbers are not close you might have a defective card.

Cross fingers I think I've fixed it... a clean and upgrade of the firmware - there does seem to be something of a cavity behind the lens so gently teasing out some cat hair from there may have been the fix.

    Here's hoping and thanks again
Cats and mice don't always get along.

    Razer death?

The erratic behavior can be caused by a small hair or other detritus on the lens, have you tried cleaning it?

    System Manufacturer: Hewlett-Packard
System Model: HP Elite 7000 Microtower PC
Is that correct? Looking at HP's website, the GTX 285 is NOT an option for that model computer.

Check the size of the Power Supply they gave you, the standard PS for that model according to HP is 300 watts, which is about half the power you need. When you ordered the GTX 285 they should have upgraded the PS to 550+ watts so you can actually use the card as intended.

    3. Drop off tons of Bootleg disks at comic stores.

    ...snip...
I started playing because of a Bootleg Disk, someone had dropped off a bunch of them at a gaming convention I was at. Note, GAMING CONVENTION, as in a bunch of people gathering together to play GAMES. Every convention I've been to has had a freebie table, use some of our fellow forumites (like mousedroid) as ambassadors to distribute updated Bootleg Disks and flyers at game conventions around the country.
Another venue to drop off stuff like that would be game shops, I don't mean computer game shops but where you can buy Role Playing Games.
Also, send some Bootleg Disks to F.I.T. in NYC, they'll love the costume creator
  7. What was that at 2:10, a subliminal message soliciting for donations?????

  8. Does he use Windows Update? i.e. is Windows up to date?
Windows Update will install new video drivers (at least it does it for Vista) if he just selects it, its an optional update.
You could download the drivers for him, you just need to know which version of Windows and if its 32-bit or 64-bit. Then but it on a disk and mail it to him if he's not local to you, otherwise put it on a thumbdrive and walk it over to him.
I know someone with a learning disability who has similar issues with his computer, his family hired for him a "consultant" to keep his computer updated and healthy. I'm using quotes around the word consultant for the simple reason that the person doing the consulting is actually another disabled person that's getting paid about $20 a month to drop by and check on the computer. Maybe your friend could benefit from a comparable arrangement.
  9. CoHHelper

    HijackThis

Download and run the programs, CoHHelper puts its result in your clipboard so you just have to paste it into a reply. HijackThis gives you a text log file, just copy/paste it into a reply.

  10. I got it from here, I keep that picture in my documents file for reference.

No Arabic script though I'm afraid, but you can do Greek.
  11. You can try to track down exactly what programs are utilizing svchost and clogging your CPU by running cmd.exe then use the command tasklist /svc

    How to guide

COMODO comes bundled with an anti-virus app doesn't it? And Avast can come with its own firewall too. Have you disabled COMODO's anti-virus and Avast's firewall, or otherwise configured them to work together?

I see you have SUPERAntiSpyware, which I'm not familiar with at all. Could it be doing some type of active scan which is slowing you down?

I see no problems, you have a very clean and lean machine. Since there is so little running the only real targets I see are the 3 different sets of security software you are running. You could try disabling them one at a time and see if you can find a culprit.

Anyway, I don't see anything unusual. Does your Firewall/Antivirus programs have any kind of auto-update as well that might be kicking in?
Mateo, some malware detects HijackThis and disables it. It was actually a smart thing to do (I should of mentioned it myself when I asked for it).
  13. A HijackThis log would be useful, it will let us see what is running on your machine. There could be some undetected malware or simply some software conflict.

The heal set bonuses don't effect the heals in regen, it has to do with the toxic resistance in the powers.

Secondary source, I couldn't find the dev post that originally told us that it was not a bug but a consequence of how powers were coded.
  15. If something like that happens again you will want to bug it (use the /bug command), the information you need to supply to QA is the following:
    1) Mission name
    2) Contact that gave the mission
    3) Name of the map that had the problem (use /whereami command)
    4) The EXACT location of the problem (use /loc command)
    5) Description of the problem with possible steps to reproduce it
    6) Preference: Cake or Pie?

    (N.B.: Number 6 is optional)
  16. Exception: IOs like the Steadfast Resistance/Defense unique slotted into Shadowfall is only going to grant the +3% Defense to you, not your allies.

    A. Lee Martinez -- He is TOO funny
  18. I'm curious as to where you got the video driver you are using, I looked through Dell's web site and couldn't find a Win 7 video driver for that laptop you're using. Did the crashes start shortly after the upgrade to Win 7, or the change in video drivers? I'm wondering if there is some oddity between that driver, your laptop and OpenGL which is causing the crashes.
You might want to watch this post at Laptop2go, its about someone who can't get their video drivers installed on a Dell M1730. If you haven't tried it you can check out Laptop2Go's driver search and see what they have for your laptop.
Good luck, hopefully someone with more experience with laptops will stop off in this thread with advice.
  19. Have you tried running in Safemode? There is a checkbox on the updater screen for safemode.

You might want to rollback your video drivers and see if that works. Use a driver cleaner first, then try these drivers from Nvidia.

(BTW, you might want to update your OS to SP3.)
  20. Post a CoHHelper report and a HijackThis log.
Tr3ytr3y, start your own thread, your solution will probably be very different from Socorro's and we don't want any unnecessary confusion (there is already too much necessary confusion).

    Mouse Oddity

Replace mouse this a wired mouse or any brand of wireless mouse except Microsoft, and CoH will be fine again.

    SD/Axe....Whoa.

Muon, I'd recommend two changes in your build. First I'd use Obliteration in Shield Charge instead of Multi Strike so it recharges in 42 seconds instead of 54 seconds, to keep the soft cap all around I'd slot Deflection with 3 LotG and 3 Aegis. You pick up a little recharge, HP, and regen that way, and you lose a little accuracy bonus. In my build I dropped the Kismet +6% Accuracy in Phalanx Fighting. (OK, make that 3 changes )
Check out those changes in Mids and see how you like them.
Other than those suggestions I really like that build, I think I'll give it a try myself.

    Patch notes??

They fixed an exploit so no patch notes. If you used that exploit you should be ashamed of yourself and give me all that inf you farmed. You'll feel better.
