    TGIF Rookery.

Next time go with caffeine-free, Emmi. Caffeine's a diuretic; a very bad thing to take in large quantities when afflicted by heat, as you're now experiencing.

And I do speak from experience. I have collapsed from dehydration before. It's not fun.
  2. I'd really like them to fix that bug with extra health and these badges. WP would otherwise be a good set (in regards to the damage taken badges) if not for that.

Ascendant and Ghost Widow once attended a wedding together, so, technically speaking, they sort of dated.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Ascendant is different. He's like Blue Steel.
  4. I roleplay that my villain works with Dr. Aeon on various research projects, basically by forcing him to help through threats of physical violence (and slightly because Aeon's characterisation is such that it seems he would like to work on all sorts of different projects.)

I justify this because she has defeated him as a Boss, EB, and AV in a large number of (dev content) missions thus far, so she should have the martial might to be reasonably assured of defeating him again.

    Would this bother you, Psi?

    Gauntlet 2.0

For the record, she's WP/SS, and I'm currently working on getting her over 4end/sec recovery. I'm a little spoiled.

My only Tanker is WP, so I guess I don't see it, except when fighting Carnies and other things that directly drain endurance (especially Carnies, who take pretty big chunks when their death blow hits). Is endurance really that big an issue for other primaries?

So what you're saying is that if you had a friend that's been with you through good times and bad. Have proven his or herself truly good, loyal and dependable, you would treat a new friend with the same regard? I don't think you would!

    [/ QUOTE ]
Actually, it only takes a few meetings to get me to treat someone like a friend; I'm a pretty charitable person overall.

Moreover, I don't, and I don't think most people do, treat my friends of five years drastically different from my friends of ten.
  8. [ QUOTE ]
I really don't understand your sentiment because if you've been playing this game since your registration date, then you're a veteran players as well.

    [/ QUOTE ]
I played for two months from then, didn't really like Statesman's version of the game (and took a break from MMOs altogether), and came back shortly after i12. I just today hit 15 months of VR.

I wasn't arguing for myself personally, however. I was arguing a principle. Which I am done doing.

    [ QUOTE ]
As someone who started CoH only this January I do take issue with the fact that I will never achieve the rewards and abilities others have thru the VR program. Because of this fact I am actively looking at "the other Superhero MMO" since I can start the game on a level playing field.

Is that what you really want for CoH? New players constantly seeing items they will never get so they decide to leave? How is that helpful to the longetivity of the game? And thus the veterans' enjoyment?

    [/ QUOTE ]
Thank you, Flu, for letting me know I'm not alone in my thinking. That makes me feel better.
  9. [ QUOTE ]
    I'D HIT THAT.

    [/ QUOTE ]
(( Somehow, this isn't as flattering when coming from a cursed bat of doom. ))
  10. They're only fair if you're a veteran. If you're a veteran, they're immensely fair. For everyone else, the continued addition of new rewards is inherently unfair - the system is weighted towards the veteran's.

Seriously, this isn't that hard. The system is supposed to be weighted towards the veterans. Admit it, enjoy it, and move on.
  11. [ QUOTE ]
They payed and played this game for OVER TWO YEARS, without ANY VRs.

    [/ QUOTE ]
And then got them all retroactively, making this point moot.

The Veteran's Rewards system purposefully favours veterans over new players. Just admit it and move on.
  12. I just wanted someone to admit the system was unfair and biased towards veterans. I'm satisfied now.
  13. At least someone finally admitted that they do, in fact, view veterans as more valuable than new players.
  14. Does this mean I can't keep breaking into Dr. Aeon's lab and making him check my notes whenever I like?
  15. [ QUOTE ]
Second of all, having the veteran's rewards cap out after an arbitrary length of time is about as 'fair' as suggesting that companies stop paying salaries to their workers after five years

    [/ QUOTE ]
City of Heroes is not a job, and Veteran's Rewards are not a salary.

This is a service we all pay for. I pay just as much as you do. You don't pay more because you're a veteran, and you haven't contributed more, because you're not contributing. You're playing.

If the only reason you keep subscribing is for your 60+X month veteran reward, I have to wonder what value you are to the community aside from income, and if your value is income, why aren't the same benefits for sale?
  16. [ QUOTE ]
You're saying the system should be terminated because you can't stand other players receiving a reward earlier than you.

    [/ QUOTE ]
I'm saying it should be terminated because I can't stand other players receiving a reward I can't. Continuing the system until the game closes creates just that problem.
  17. I've gotten the same reaction to "stop giving out new rewards" as I have to "give newer players a chance to get more rewards". One is not the same as the other, but is treated with the same disdain.

Stop giving out new veteran's rewards. Let there be an upper limit to how many rewards there are. That will make it "fair" for everyone; everyone puts in five years, everyone gets five years of rewards.

Let me turn it around: Why do you need more than that? Isn't five years of reward enough? Why are you demanding more? Why do you feel entitled to your continued rewards? What makes you so special?
  18. [ QUOTE ]
But to have them cut-off so newcomers can catch up?? Newcomers who may not even stick around anyway for the entire time??

    [/ QUOTE ]
This is what I'm talking about. I'm tired of being a less valued customer because of my Reged date (or because I didn't like Statesman's version of CoX and only came back after he left).

ETA: What, exactly, is it about a new player that makes them far more likely to leave the game than old players? Nothing I've proposed would benefit someone who starts playing tomorrow immediately; only after they've shown that they, too, plan on sticking around would there be any benefit. So why assume that someone is more likely to leave the game after playing it for two years than after playing it for six?
  19. [ QUOTE ]
You also assume that the rewards will go on ad infinitum. How many more perks do you think the devs can actually come up with? Seems to me they're starting to hit the bottom of the barrel of new ideas.

    [/ QUOTE ]
I already mentioned having the new rewards stop was an acceptable alternative to me, and a bunch of Veterans cried out "No, that's not fair!"
  20. While the method of gaining them might be fair, the fact that many rewards will be forever denied me simply because of my Reged date is not.
  21. More that, while you might not know what the reward for 120 months is, when it rolls around, you will get it. Meanwhile, someone joining today might know what they'll be getting for the next five years, but once they get there, there will still be five years more worth of things ahead of them they won't have, and no matter how long they play, there will always be five years worth of rewards they will never have (unless you accept Arcanaville's argument, in which case they'll get them for 24 hours before the game closes, which is rather cold comfort.)

Basically, the Veteran's Reward system as it exist now tells the newcomer "no matter how long you play, no matter how much you put into the system, you will always be worth less to us."
  22. (( Everyone of Agent and higher can invite, Blarg. Just contact one of us next time you're on. ))
  23. [ QUOTE ]
A vet reward system is SUPPOSED to be non-inclusive, that's why it's called a vet reward system and not a "we're giving all the rewards to everyone at day one just because you stamped your feet and complained" system.

    [/ QUOTE ]
I am now far more bothered by the twisting of my statements into "everyone should get everything right now" than I am by the Veteran's Reward system. I never suggested that.
