  1. Yeah, they didn't bother me until City Traveller. Sure, I'd like to get the costume bits sooner so I could actually use them on characters, and some of the base pieces make for nice concept work, and while I play the game largely for costumes and concepts, it was a small evil.

But now I just don't get why veterans are so much more important than other players, and would like to see the "Veterans Rewards" turned into some system other than "thanks for putting up with Jack" (which is really what the higher rewards boil down to.)

I fail to see the sarcasm in your feeling superior in light of this statement. "I paid to make sure you'd have a game to come to later, ingrate, I damn well deserve a reward." Was the game really that bad before?

Oh, and it gives them a free power, the bastards.
  4. I still don't get why we need Veteran's Rewards.

Here's your logical error. 3/4ths is not the same as 5/4ths. I'm using fractions because it should be easier to see where you went wrong doing so.

125% of something is 5/4th of something. To turn 5/4ths back to 1, you want to multiply by 4/5ths, not by 3/4ths. Therefore, to get back to 100% from 125%, you want 80%, not 75%.

Try it. You'll see that the math works.

I'm saying it. If she was Blue Bunny, I would not be as fond of her as I am. I probably would have deleted her by now.

I have a few other characters I don't like playing, but I'm holding on to because the names illicit a smile from me. Names mean something, and I view CoX's "unique name" system as a sort of creativity filter; if a name is taken, I haven't really taken enough time to let the concept gel in my head, and the name I'm trying for clearly is not the right one.

Actually, my Bots/Traps MM can take even-level missions petless. I haven't tried her on higher difficulties petless, but even the basic accomplishment is somewhat impressive to me.

Soft-capped defence and the ability to use Trip Mine to boost damage output is a large part of this, of course.

Had a multi-name policy been enacted before I created her, I would be stuck with my level 50 Tanker "Blue Bunny" instead of "Lapin Lazuli". I have grown very fond of "Lapin Lazuli", because of its cleverness and how well it relates to the character and her costume, and have been complimented many times in-game for it.

If the character were still "Blue Bunny", I'd be far less fond of her, perhaps to the point I never would have gotten her to 50.

So the impact this policy would have on me had it been implemented before, and should it be implemented in the future, is to rob me of the opportunity to come up with a name that means far more, both to me and to the character, than a generic name like "Blue Bunny".

Bad MMs. The leadership powers have approximately the same range as Supremacy, which means bots getting your inherent bonus and/or serving in Bodyguard mode should also be getting all your Leadership bonuses.

Friends don't let friends keep their henchman in Aggressive mode.

Considering there are no female Tsoo models, I took the line to mean that while women can participate in Fight Club, they don't get to be members of Project Mayhem, which is the Tsoo gang proper.
  12. If we had a name system like CO's, I'd be running around with my level 50 Tanker Blue Bunny, rather than the far more classy and unique Lapin Lazuli. I'm glad someone had taken my obvious and unoriginal name so I could come up with something far more clever.
  13. The idea that Smashing/Lethal needs to so heavily be resisted compared to other damage types is part of the problem with balance in this game. It's just silly.

As for leadership - MM's do NOT get the highest leadership mods redside - corruptors and VEAT's are the ones with the highest mods.
Partially true. VEAT mods are overall better than either MMs or Corruptors, but I don't count the VEATs for two reasons - first, they are EATs, and not available to all players, and secondly, they have their own powers that replicate the leadership pool to greater effect with lower cost, so they won't typically be taking leadership.

That said, MMs and Corruptors are odd fish on the "which is better" scale. MMs get more out of Manoeuvres than a Corruptor, while the Corruptor has an edge with Assault and Tactics. Coupled with the fact that the powers also benefit henchmen, I think saying MMs get "one of the highest" benefits is a fairly accurate statement. They certainly get more than Dominators, Brutes, or Stalkers - top two is "one of the highest".

Although I could always write it off as her villainy and power finally bringing the gang around to realise the error of their ways.

According to the canon, there are no male Fortunatas or female Banes, because Recluse gender-sorts psychics into the two branches (strictly speaking, he gender-sorts child psychics and raises them into the two branches). That of course was dropped for the VEATs because players wouldn't stand for that. And lots of people play VEATs without actually being members of Arachnos.

But since VEATs didn't exist for six issues, there exists a good in-game reason for the models to be the way they are.

I'd still like to see more girls out there. Wyvern, the Legacy Chain, the Freaks, and the Outcasts I see as highly-likely sources of existing enemies with new female models. And a couple more all-girl gangs would be cool, too. I like the idea of the Amazons and Black Cats.

Well, now I love this thread too.

Grammar nitpick (only because this is a common error everyone makes): "Its", without an apostrophe, is the possessive form of "it". Its chair, its house, its word. "It's", with an apostrophe, is the contraction for "it is". It's dumb, it's hot, it's weird.

Most people don't care, but there are times when it can cause confusion.
  18. This thread became really funny today. Good job, thread!
  19. Aurora Borealis, Sister Psyche, and Numina are all in the game, and their costumes are glorified swimsuits. Scantily clad females are allowed in T-rated games. The rating will not stop the developers.

I believe it has been announced, or at least hinted at somewhat officially, that the "weapon" for the direct attacks in the Demon Summoning set is a whip.

    A) I'm not sure about Concealment specifically, but your henchman should be able to follow you through stealth without difficulty.

    B) First Aid is up to you - most secondaries have a heal, or other forms of high-defence (like FFs) that make the need to heal your henchman directly with a pool power less pronounced, but with some secondaries it can be handy (and it can be a nice bonus on teams too.)

Leadership is generally considered a "must have" for MMs. Redside, they have one of the higher buff modifiers for it in the first place, and the fact that the "effective" bonus you get out of Leadership is multiplied by six thanks to your henchman makes it even more worthwhile. Assault and Tactics are particularly enjoyed for increased damage output, while Manoeuvres can often be the 3-4% more defence you need to soft-cap your pets.

    C) Flurry and Whirlwind are considered some of the best-looking, but mechanically worst, powers in the game. You're better off taking attacks from your primary or patron pool.

    D) You can't respec your secondary so you'd have to reroll, but I think Thermal Radiation and Pain Domination are the two secondaries with direct damage boosts in them. Poisons, Storm Summoning, Dark Miasma and Trick Arrow all have some resistance debuffs, which are as good (better, in many ways) as damage buffs, and Traps can provide its own damage with a couple powers.

I don't think any of the discussion has been around mistakes, but rather focused upon deliberate misuses of language because it is "easier", "faster", or "evolving". Most people are fairly tolerant and forgiving of genuine mistakes, and most of those able to communicate with clarity themselves have great skill in reading past those minor mistakes without blinking an eye (I am at the point where other people have to point out common typos to me, I read over them so easily now.)

Making mistakes is not at issue here. A deliberate intent to not even bother trying is.
  22. And no one said your good faith effort was not taken in good faith. I have dyslexia. I know many people that have far more severe forms than I have. What is causing the response you are getting now is your very negative and derisive response that proper communication is about respect, not your own use of language.

We object to your content, not your form.

You fixed it wrong, for your information. Your very first "fix" is a comma splice, an inappropriate use of a comma. Comma splices are very common among those who are able to communicate verbally with eloquence but rarely have to communicate effectively in writing, because it is a common mistake to place a comma where you would pause while speaking. This, however, is not what the comma is for.
  24. I weep for the younger generations.
  25. All pets have a Brawl attack. The issue here is that your Protector Bots don't have enough to do at range, so they get down to having Brawl as their only active power and run up to melee, but by the time they get there, they have another power recharged, so they use that instead.

Once you get Upgrade, the Protectors have enough to do that they never get down to having only Brawl active, so they get better. If you're not using Equip on them, or your Drones aren't getting hurt (thus the Protectors don't have to heal them), that might also be an issue.
