Why should I go grief Triumph? Does Triumph grief us?
Let them have their server, we have ours, and everyone's happy. Why are you encouraging people to be jerks? -
Last LRSF I failed was because we ran it at 48. A bunch of folks SSK'd to 47 simply cannot fight any more than maybe 1 level 53 Hero.
We beat everything else, including the perma-51 Vindicators, but 6 levels is just too much of an obstacle to overcome. With SSK, the need to have perma-levelled enemies in a SF is much less, since you can no longer set the level lower and drag along high level people to make it "easy mode". -

I maintain my stance largely because the actual plotlines and missions the devs have written for us lend credence to the belief that PCs are very much the peers and rivals of the major NPCs, not their lackeys.
When Recluse needs someone to give Statesman a display of his power, he calls PC Villains, not his NPC lackeys.
When Recluse threatens the very world itself with his great Towers, Statesman does not call on the Freedom Phalanx, or even the Vindicators to stop him. He calls PC heroes, the only powers truly able to rival Recluse's master plan.
When Statesman is captured by Tyrant, it is the PCs, not the Freedom Phalanx, that ventures into Praetoria and rescues him. Every single Villain that has completed their patron arc all the way through has not only faced down at least one of Recluse's minions, but Recluse himself and come out victorious.
MMO mechanics be damned; the devs are doing the best they can in their limited format to make each and every one of us feel like the true movers and shakers of the realm; why should we not acknowledge and celebrate this?
And to MondoCool, I point this out: in the LRSF, 8 villains face 8 heroes. It's an even fight, and if you beat the SF, the villains come out on top. That doesn't sound like the signature heroes are superior to the PCs at all. -
Quote:He said they'd have to replace him with a gibbering lunatic to start work on the animations for it, and they'd look terrible.Secondly, I'm sure there is a discussion some where where BaBs explains why. But my guess would be the physics engine. You can always look it up though.
BABs is personally against trying to make an underwater zone look good with this game engine. He also thinks Aquaman sucks. Which he does. -
Does it count as time travel if you simply lived for those years?
I've got a Mastermind, Violet Valkyrie, who is a Valkyrie in service of Hel. She's been around a long time, and sees prophecy of the future as well. Not sure how much that counts. -
I just wanted to say one thing:
A cannon is a gun. A canon is a true writ. Please don't confuse the two. Someone might get hurt. -
Origins made me cry. Which a video game hasn't done for over a decade. It's BioWare's best work to date, I think (it's not particularly original, I admit, but the execution is very well done. The characters especially.)

Quote:Which are the same people that love Star Trek. The "audience" for Star Trek from a bottom line perspective, is the same person who loved Iron Man.
I'll note that I don't think the new movie "failed". It preserved the history and details as far as was necessary to make the movie still feel "Star Trek", while changing it enough to create new possibilities for the future. Enterprise utterly failed at the first, and thus the second did not matter.
I say this as a life-long Trekkie, born of Trekkie parents, all of whom enjoyed the new movie. -
Quote:Funny you bring this up, because the very reason Enterprise flopped and was perhaps the biggest failure in Star Trek's history is precisely because the creators decided that the history and details weren't important, and because of this they alienated their target audience.I know Star Trek fans in particular, believe the history and the details are just as important, but when it comes to mass consumption, mass production and artistic freedom, it simply isn't. This miffs the fan who is obsessive, but is reality.
Sometimes the history and details are important. You've got to know your audience. -
Well, cops got a first step with Issue 13, and commandos and mercenaries already have a lot covered in the base designer; Eastern themes did need a bit more love.
But I do look forward to the next round of these. I'm sure they won't stop at 5; they've been pretty darn successful thus far. -
Just because something would be nice doesn't mean what we have isn't also nice. Nor does it mean we're demanding more. But if BABs is listening, it can't hurt to mention some adjustments.
Really all I'd want is the ability to choose which of the three animations I use, regardless of toon. -
Quote:Agonus just doesn't want to see my 17-year old character strutting around in heels. My apologies for not being clear, I was referring more to the base Sprint and Prestige Power Slide. Aren't they both included in the broader "Sprints" category?
I love that I can walk, BABs, and thank you for taking the time rigging it up, but it would be nice to have my characters be able to walk without heels once in a while. -
Quote:Wolf Spiders, maybe. The problem is that Wolf PCs eventually become either Banes or Crabs, and the CoX canon is that Recluse divides up baby telepaths by gender, raising them either as Fortunatas or Banes. While I do agree somewhat with the first comment, I see nothing barring women from becoming soldiers. Heck, there was female Wolf Spider concept art for CoV at one point. My guess is that they weren't able to be added as NPCs due to time constraints or something.
I suppose Crab Spiders have never been explained enough to exclude females. -

Quote:Why are you six-slotting Stamina? There's really no point in going more than three slots, two if you're using IOs.(And of course my stamina ability, because that's a no-brainer.)
Thanks to ED, the only things that should be six-slotted are things you want multiple types of enhancement for - attacks, primarily, for accuracy, damage, and end redux/recharge. Things you're only enhancing for a single aspect really only need two or three, tops. -
Quote:Female models don't get that coat.Have you looked at the "Baron" coat? Personally, I prefer it to the trenchcoat.
Quote:And by getting access to unlockable pieces, we'll have someone else giving the EXACT SAME argument as you - "They get it by being vets right away, I don't, it's not fair."
I'm not going to let slippery slopes work. I'm asking to be able to be proactive. Your hypothetical complaints would not be proactive. There is a clear difference. -
Well, I hope those coat tails keep the veterans warm as newer players flock to games that don't deny them customisation for arbitrary reasons.
-
Quote:Here's the flaw in your logic. You view Veteran's Rewards as something you paid $900 for. In reality, you paid $900 for access to the game. You get the Veteran's Rewards for free.Let's see. A person that has been playing for 5 years will have spent $900. USD playing the game.
If you paid for the Veteran's Rewards, then I or anyone else could pay the same amount and get the Veteran's Rewards. But since I cannot pay for them, then, logically, you have not paid for them either.
Veteran's Rewards are not given to you because you paid for them. -
Quote:You really think there's anyone that's going to feel slighted by getting something, for free, that someone else paid for? If anything, this is more disadvantageous to the person that paid - Veteran gets a "thanks, have some free stuff", newbie paid extra to get stuff Veteran got for free. Now, what happens if the person who's stuck with the game for five years and gets these thank you bits suddenly sees a new, 0-month player with them? Not much of a thanks.
Quote:How about the person who buys them - they now no longer have any sort of reward, or "thanks for staying loyal" going for them. They're now self-screwed out of the entire program.
Quote:Then again, I don't see it as "screwing everyone else" when someone gets, say, a discount for being with the insurance company longer, gets extra days off due to seniority or whatnot.
I don't object to little bonuses - respecs, costume changes, a few free merits, in-game discounts. I object to the things tied up in superhero (or CoH specific) mythos - wings, emblems, boxing gloves - that are, for some reason, given exclusively to veterans, making characters using those aspects as part of their basic character completely inaccessible to non-Veterans.
When someone suggested doing away with costume unlocks, or letting other characters of that player use them, or making them unlock for all characters instead of just one, it was a relatively popular idea. When someone suggested doing away with VR-related costume unlocks, however, it suddenly became highly unpopular, despite being basically the exact same thing. I simply don't understand the mindset that creates that discrepancy. -
I'd love to see something like the HK P90c from Fallout:

Veterans want their special parts and screw the rest of us?
Veterans get something for free other people pay for. Sounds like a good Veteran Reward to me, and will quiet down a lot of non-Veteran cries of foul over having some vital piece - Samurai Armour, Devil Wings, Boxing Gloves - locked away in the VR system.
Seriously. Explain to me like I'm a five year old: why do VR costume pieces have to remain exclusively VR? -
