Quote:There are a LOT of "fat" concepts that are very much in line with "Super Hero" that I would love to see. The Blob was always one of my favourite villains growing up (NOTHING MOVES THE BLOB!), and Huge just doesn't work for that feel. I'm also fond of the overweight speedster (named simply "Speed") villain from Sky High, which is a movie very much in the "Super Hero" feel. So, why not make more SUPER HERO (and Villain) options, before more of the "Look I made my bear gut, battle axe wielding drawf barbarian from our LOTR games" options?
Writing off "fat" as "not super" shows a lack of imagination. -
It is, I believe, a known issue. It's not actually related to resummoning your pets (if you zone into a mission, summon your pets, some die, and you resummon, the names should still match), but to pets zoning with you (when the pets zone, sometimes randomly their names get shuffled around and the thug who was Moe is Larry in the new zone.) This mix-up can get stuck, and the only real solution is to dismiss all and resummon fresh.

Quote:But you don't get defenders redside, and MM numbers are only a tiny bit less than Corruptor numbers (who are, barring VEATs, the best redside).Ah I remember the discussion now. It was concluded that it was a waste of space because mm leadership is barely more than half what a defender gets.
And MMs will always have someone to share the bonuses with, unlike a defender running solo.
So while the fact of the numbers is true, I think your conclusion is off.
I have no issues with my Merc MM so far, but he's only level 12. -
Quote:On paper. -to hit is, of course, affected by resistance (though I know that's negligible for anything but an AV), and by area (things outside Darkest Night and Chill of the Night, or outside the cone of a delivered Fearsome Stare all avoid the -to hit altogether). Defence applies to all things, regardless of outside modifiers. And your /dark mastermind floors the ACC of pretty much everything except an AV. So not soft capping def doesn't matter. The pet alone gives -30% to their tohit. That's in and of it's self equal to a SR scrapper running Single Origin enhancements. And this is unslotted for to-hit debuff. Between Darkest Night, Shadow Fall, and Fearsome Stare enemies will be having extreme trouble hitting too. And that's assuming no slots devoted to tohit debuff and def buff. Slot them for it, and they will floor to-hit eather.
But this isn't an "on paper" comparison. This is in actual play. My /Traps MM tackles +1/x8 content without much trouble. The /Dark one sometimes struggles with x5 or more content.
A key difference between the two is mez protection; the /Traps FFG grants some, while nothing in /Dark does. -

City of Villains uses the same character creator as City of Heroes, and any option added to one would be added to the other. Should I post the list of fat villains, which is far more lengthy and serious?
Kingpin, Penguin, the Blob, Egghead, Doctor Octopus - that's just a small sample of fat or overweight villains in "serious" comic series. Excluding the option because "heroes aren't fat" also deprives us of fat villains. -
Quote:Barracuda Strike Force gives that.Personally, I think we should get some more background on why the 5th is back before this gets implemented, but on the whole, yeah, it sounds pretty cool.
Short: Dumb villain frees Reichsman, Reichsman rallies the 5th column remnants, creating a new force. -

Quote:They said no to "Hugh Female". Not Huge. Also, to add to this discussion. On the recent chat with the devs, they flat out said no to huge female builds. Not "Possibly in the the future" or "not with the tech we have" they said "No"
I think it was a dev being cute at a typo. -
You're wrong. Many super-powered individuals are fat. Some are just overweight. Here's a list of ten (some silly, yes) that I found with a cursory search.
Super power does not discriminate based on body weight. -
Personal Force Field pretty much effectively caps your defence, but that still yields a 5% chance of getting hit. It's not "perfect defence".

Quote:C'mon Xan, I know you play on Virtue. You must see the same things I see - generally there's at least a couple people in any given AE I enter, while I can often pop into a PvP zone and see no one at all. This game has a lot of different sub-communities; and I'm pretty sure PVP is one of the more active ones.
Sure, there's some selection bias there - AE buildings are considerably smaller than PvP zones, so it's easier to find people - but anecdotal evidence from in the game is at least as valid as forum post counts.
I think you have to consider the nature of the game's PvP system - it received a massive overhaul a year ago, one that did, in fact, result in a significant (if not financially dangerous) exodus of players from the game, and has been highly controversial since then. Those forums contain all that. Badging, on the other hand, will never be particularly controversial (the biggest controversy being, perhaps, the recent change to villain accolades, which seems to be widely well received overall), and Mission Architect hasn't been around as long as PvP to generate the same backlog of messages.
For me, personally, Badges and MA are about the same (I like to grab the occasional badge, but mostly in pursuit of PvE bonuses or content, not just for the sake of having it, and while I haven't managed to get an arc put together, as part of an RP VG we do make common, if not frequent, use of MA) and PvP is a far straggler behind it. I've never had much interest in competitive game play, in any game. -

Quote:It is less of a big deal than I generally present it, and more of a big deal than you generally present it. I'm sure the INTENTION of City Traveller was simply to make getting around the city a little less onerous for veterans by allowing them to have full travel speed at an earlier level. The side-effect of potentially unlocking a power choice was likely unintended. But it's still a side-effect that exists, and that should be acknowledged.Yes, we know your opinion on the 60 month reward, which you seem to think is like giving everyone instant 50s, fully purpled out with three extra power pools not available to anyone else. You're wrong, it's not that big a deal.
The permanent temp powers also add a considerable change to low-level (and potentially even high-level) game play by rounding out attack chains and allowing some by-pass of built-in limitations, such as the Rage damage crash. While it's easily argued that the unenhancable temp powers are hardly overpowered, they can still be quite game changing.
As far as entitlement goes, I would say the sense of entitlement to eternal unending further rewards for actions taken six years ago is no less than the sense of entitlement to eventually earn all possible rewards. -
If you are level 50 and you roll on the 30-34 track and get an Luck of the Gambler piece, that recipe will be level 50, not level 30. The desired affect is to roll as if your level was X, rather than your real level, allowing you to gain level 30 (or whatever) recipes of sets that extend all the way to 50.

Quote:I'm merely asking for the chance to potentially earn all rewards someday, after having put in as much time as those currently enjoy those rewards now do. So long as the count of "all rewards" continues to increment at the same pace as the count of "my rewards", this can never happen. The only sense of entitlement being displayed is by the people that are demanding things they didn't earn.
That's not entitlement. That's being asked to have a fair shake at equality. -
Quote:When we're talking about the difference between three years and six years, the concept of "proven to be loyal" really takes on a different meaning. So you want to punish the people that have shown themselves to be loyal customers because you haven't been a vet as long as they have?
But more to the point, I advocate in favour of ending a policy that grossly disadvantages (and, in turn, DISCOURAGES) new customers without unduly depriving loyal customers of previous benefits.
The sense of entitlement displayed by (typically) 60+ month veterans never ceases to amaze me. You seem to think you're the reason this game exists. Your posts certainly convey that tone. -
Quote:I'm advocating for a cap to Veteran's Reward - the cessation of adding new rewards. The same can be said for the vets who patiently waited and earned their 66 months of vet rewards. So changing the system so you can get the stuff they waited for now would be grossly unfair to them.
I fail to see how that gets me anything "now". -
Quote:Yes. One day I will die. I can only reach the end of infinity with infinite time. I know that I do not have infinite time. Therefore, I will never reach the end of infinite rewards. And why are you making this like a race with a finish? They keep adding to it. They have done so 16 times, plus one more next week and another on deck. Like I asked above, do you know something about the termination of this game we all don't know?
That's just basic math. -
Well, there's your solution to colour-coding and enemy/friendly maps, then. Raidable bases don't get colour-codes, unraidable ones do. Sacrifice convenience for function both ways.
