There's no time limit on those tests, short of the time required for basic training. A soldier can serve for twenty years and never qualify to pilot a tank or helicopter, while a raw recruit just out of boot could qualify to do both. And seniority is only one of many factors that figures into earning promotions.

    The analogy still fails.

Who said anything about money? The only question was seeing if you had to wait the time as well as paying the time, or if paying the time was enough, and a general statement that the latter wouldn't be the worst thing ever.

    Insert standard accounting rant here.

That's not how finance works. The "steady stream" (which is easily cancelled) is not more valuable than the "lump sum". It's not an incentive or a special treat. It's because it makes better business sense for NCSoft to receive larger payments up front rather than smaller payments over time.

The ratio of discount for this to become untrue is very large - along the lines of 50%.

Dark Servant cannot take Recharge Intensive (it used to say it could (even though it could not), a few issues ago, but that was a bug and it was corrected). I don't have a high-enough level Storm Summoner to check in-game, but Mids says it cannot.

The power does not have to be active for the aura to be in effect. The game treats unique powers like the auras as set bonuses, so as long as you have it slotted, you will have the aura.

Call to Arms and Expedient Reinforcement, for the record, are Recharge Intensive Pets sets, and MMs can only slot them into Gang War, Soul Extraction, and Hell on Earth. Bots, Mercenaries and Ninja MMs cannot use them.

    Analogy fail.

The badges confer the "you were here" status, not the powers.

PS If a "steady 15/month" is better than a lump-payment, why does NCSoft offer incentives (in the form of discounts) for those that purchase larger chunks of service ahead of time? If the steady 15/month was preferable to large but less frequent payments, they wouldn't do this.

When you say a steady 15/month is better then paying ahead, you are basically saying that NCSoft is purposely making bad business decisions.

We need a SCR for accounting.

For Eiko, the reason she doesn't try to overthrow Recluse is because she saw the future where she tried to overthrow Recluse, and destruction of the entire global ecosystem isn't part of her schemes.

After I finished Time After Time with Eiko, I spent a lot of time with my roleplay having her working with Dr. Aeon (by force; I love running missions where the end goal is beating up Aeon. There's got to be a dozen of them in the game), exploring other possible futures outside the DESTINY project to find a future where she overthrew Recluse successfully.

I would love, love, love, love, love for that to be an actual story arc, as you explore all the myriad possible ways and reasons why any given plot to overthrow Recluse would be a failure.

Dangnabbit. I just realised what my AE arc needs to be.

So please stop pretending that's what we're saying, GG, because it's not. You're better than that.

Ideally, what would be available would be a selection of "pre-fab" rooms, with items and (bare) decorations already placed to create the desired effect, with the advanced editor still available to tweak (or even build from scratch) as desired.

AE seems to be working pretty well, so they could even turn this design over to players (maybe with a few dev-created choices as base templates to start) and allow base builders to create pre-fabs to be placed in a database for others to use.

You head to St. Martial, where the power-bases are the Family, Johnny Sonata, and Arachnos.

There's no reason Grandville has to be written and designed like it is. There's no reason Arachnos has to be a major player in any given zone. They are, but not because the whole balance of the game depends on it.

It's largely because Jack Emmert knows about as much about making a good game as you do.

Arachnos needs only be slightly stronger than other factions, not an overwhelming force and driving factor of all gameplay, to establish this effect. Nemesis does not bow to Recluse. Countess Crey does not bow to him. The Center does not bow to him. The Circle does not bow to him.

There are a plethora of powerbases in the Isles completely divorced from Arachnos and Recluse. Arachnos does not have to direct so much of the action as they do to keep the Isles in some semblance of order.

Some zones - especially Nerva - very much reflect this. There's virtually no Arachnos presence in Nerva, and the gameplay there doesn't particularly suffer for it (it suffers mostly from being the Independence Port of Redside, and thus simply far too large a zone).

That's a stupid conclusion and a stupid rule. Heroes don't all have Statesman as a boss in any form. Why do villains have to have a boss but heroes don't?

If you really think that a) this is the way things should be and b) this is the way things will always be, I don't think you know the first thing about either writing or game design.

Spotlight-stealing jerks, the both of them. The game would be better without them.

Hopefully the new Incarnate system will do something to remove those two from their unearned pedestals.

Our base is a large part of why I have a feeling of the Supreme Society being an organisation at least on par, if not greater, than Arachnos or the other villain groups in the Isles. Without the base, I'm not sure I'd get the same sense of greatness.

Pfft, I lead my own faction. We're called the Supreme Society, and we're a bunch of comic book supervillains out to rule the world.

Most of us have proven ourselves greater than Recluse in single combat, and we as a whole have trounced the Freedom Phalanx multiple times.

Not for Heroes only. Silver Mantis delivers similar dialogue (including a post-combat(coital?) "call me") in Dark Watcher's arc.
  19. Hell On Earth is already a nice hybrid of Serum and Gang War (and, as a bonus, it's a Serum-like effect on a petset that would actually benefit from the Serum.) It's already really cool. Making it cooler would just be imbalanced.
  20. Wasn't offline SG rank changes promised as a feature in i17? Does it work some way other than what I would expect (selecting someone, clicking the button)? If so, what are the commands? If not, when can we expect this feature to be implemented?
  21. Vet Rewards are just little extra bonuses that don't really make a difference. Why would you need to change your selection?
  22. I know for a fact that Thugs sometimes change names. I have my Thugs named after various sins that they went to Hel for, and the "Fool" is the Arsonist. Normally. Sometimes the Arsonist becomes "Wimp" or "Coward". I usually notice it when I see Wimp or Coward getting hammered and wonder "WTH?", then selecting them will reveal that they have mysteriously become the Arsonist.
  23. Pfft. Devs hate villains. Fact. Get used to it.

That used to be their response to power customisation too.
