    Especially the tactics sections, and most definately the one at the very bottom concerning the mind dom. This is about the only way I can see the Master of LRSF ever being obtained.
  3. No Travel power till 41 will be a pain, as the temp powers tend to run out by about 30, so unless you have a friendy Taxi service, you may find yourself having to do the skyraider jump pack mish often, or just getting to places slowly.

    DB/?

    DB/Dark would have a lot of control powers. The sweep combo and weaken are both aoe/cone I believe, put that in with the auras and that would be great for a brute who runs into the middle of the mob and can mitigate a lot of aggro, and probs able to get full fury from running in.

    DB/fire, main thing is I cant find a concept I like for it, always an issue with me.

    DB/Elec sounds quite good too, though would have to try to find a concept, which is hard.

    DB/Dark probs then, slotted heavily for end reduction and leaving end heavy toggles till late, replaceing acro with kb IOs would make it manageable I think.

    Would be tight though I reckon.

    Anyone got a basic build for a DB/Dark yet then?

    Well with i11 coming out, its time for me to make my DB/ brute that i wanted (was going to make a scrapper, but well, then i owuld have to go hero side).

    My question is, what would be good to pair with it? Have seen lots about db/fire for farming purposes, but dont want that. /stone is also out as I doubt ile have a pocket kin around, and never been a fan of energy aura, so its /dark /WP /Elec or /invuln. Anyone help me with the synergies of these and what they will be like to play? Have had trouble getting excited about brutes in the past, but DB/ is something I have been greatly loooking forward to.

    All comments and advice appreciated.
  7. PRAF i am not disagreeing with you at all. I was responding to Cognito's comment that stalkers have no form of damage mitigation, which they do have, just not as noticeable.

    At the end of the day, who you invite to your team is up to you, and I usually will try and avoid too many stalkers on team (2 can be effective when played well together, more is usually just a liability).

    So to conclude, I will ask again that any discussion on the good and bad points of stalkers move to the stalker forum where they belong.

    Please leave this thread for usefull hints about playing a stalker, especially if its ways to avoid annoying your team and how to be more team friendly, and of course praise for me :P

    Fairy nuff, personally I love soul storm, probs my fave animation in the game, and a stalker with a hold, especially when you can spam it, is quite something. and the range from blast helps too in arena.

    Looks nice, but one thing, you actually took your patrons? I personally love my dark blast and soul storm, but, wow, never thought I would see you taking it!

    Also, is your regen that good you dont need a heal?
  11. The above points about the efficacy of stalkers in large teams are largely true, and I will tend to agree with them. In a long fight, stalker aint the best, but comparing them to a brute is like comparing a blaster to a troller. Totally different. Brutes are supposed to love long fights, but dont do as well in short fights, stalkers love a short fight, but dont do so well in a long one.

    And in terms of damage mitigation, see that mob cowering next to me? Yep that was my Touch of Fear. See that Mob on its back, yep that was a shockwave, and so on. The effects are there, just less noticeable than when a whole spawn is wondering around stunned.

    However, this guide was intended to help stalkers play solo and in teams of large and small size, and does have warning about playing in a large team. I didnt want this to be a "stalkers are suxxorz on teams you noob" thread. So please leave discussions on how good stalkers are to the stalker thread.

    Do feel free to add any of your own usefull tips and hints on playing a stalker though. Or just the things not covered in the guide that you would like to see eliminated from stalker behaviour.

    Lol. If played well, a stalker can bring something to a team thats usefull. Be it ghosting ability, point man, scout, sniper or just damage dealing. It's just most people have little or no understanding of the way to use a stalker in a pve team. But as a class, stalkers are generally hated by all that dont play them.

    But who you invite to your team is up to you. Neglecting a player just because they are a stalker is a good way to ensure that the stalker never learns how to play on teams effectively. Do your bit for stalkers today, Invite one to your PuG!

    Ice/dark/mu

    Ice/dark is pretty much a controller/domi type cor. 3 holds to use in PvE eventually, slows, fears, -acc -dam, nice bebuffs and a good team heal/rezz. Ice storm and Tar Patch will go very nicely together. Lots of slow ability from that. If you on a team, tar patch should be spammed constantly. Ice aint aoe heavy, but when you lay down a tarpatch, and hit blizzard, without being seen, that will be awesome. Should be a nice combo, though I think ide focus more on the control/debuff side the most, as that is its strenght.
  14. Ive watched duel in the arena where the claws stalker just scratched at the invuln scrapper not making too much of a dent. Then I as a poorly played Dm/ tore him a new one very fast. Admitidly neither of us were great pvpers, but when I could 2-3 hit him, and the claws couldnt kill him, then I saw that Dm>claws.

    Ice/Psi for me.Make people cry in the arena when they realise that they have no attacks left, and even brawl is taking forever to recharge And quite possibly the biggest aggro magnet domi around (damage proc slotted AA FTW!)

    PvP Dominator?

    In the arena my ice/psi domi, even though badly specced for pvp (ie just in fun duel) can stack enough slows and -rch to make even regens cry, giving you plent of time to kill them at your will, but you need to get to at least 38 to have any real DPS, otherwise Jack is doing most of your work for you, though he does it pretty well. No experience with this toon in the zones though.

    Ive seen mind/fire or ice domies do very well in the arena, watching an MM get creamed by his own pets is always entertaining, even had to laught when my own assault bot blew me away.

    I think domies can be scary in the arena, especially 1v1, in teams, yeh I agree with the above, you have a very large target on your back that says (squishiest of squishies, vill side at least)

    I have only just heard about that they are going to be bringing out +per IOs out with i11.

    Can anyone from test confirm this? If so, can I be the first to say DOOOOM!?

    If this is true, doesnt this mean that, yet again, stalkers get a kick in the teeth from the Devs?

    So, confirmation anyone?

    DM/SR help

    I have got a lvl 19 DM/SR scrapper thats a hero version of my luch loved stalker. I knew before I started that there were different powers, especially in the primary, but didnt look much more into it. Now im finding it a bit of a slog to play him. Compared to my spines/regen (who i gave up a long time ago) he just seems to be lacking. Is it just going to take a while to get going?

    So any build advice? Ie good builds, slotting, powers to skip and must haves? This is going to be a toon for purely teaming, never soloing, as he is part of a regular team night.

    Any help greatly appreciated, as I like his concept too much to want to delete him.
  20. I dont claim to be experienced in pvp, infact, im pretty bad at anything that aint 1v1. However, to me blasters are easier to play in pvp, in general. Fly over your target, sit back, blast em to hell. "See that stalker down there? BOOM! Dead stalker". No amount of running will help a stalker with a fireball chasing him. On the other hand a stalker needs to be selective on their targets, has to be in melee range, and people never stay still for long.

    In team pvp, if a blaster has a fender around, especially an emp, might as well just leave the zone sometimes, having no protection even at stealth cap from being blasted from the sky, gets annoying.

    In PvE, ide say stalkers are easier, but not the easiest AT to play well by far.

    At the end of the day, different ATs are easy for different people. I found I had trouble playing a blaster cos of the playstyle, whereas I find playing a stalker easy. On the other hand, my MM was the easiest toon I have ever played, and my Domi the hardest by far. Other find Domies easy, and cant get the hang of stalkers. So really, it all depends on the players and how they play, in both PvE and PvP.

    Mu Mastery pool.

    I didn't know anyone bothered with the snipes unless for a LRSF spec stalker, and even then, leave it to the cor, they do it better.

    The hold from the patrons is often nice, and can make a stalker quite evil in terms of giving us free crits, and a ranged attack never hurt anyone to get, but otherwise, yeh, mu was the least attractive to me in terms of patrons for my stalker, though might be ok for concept reasons.

    My advice, Do a respec trial.

    Also, dropping toggles with brawl is really funny

    ToF cant stop Foccused accuracy. So you either fought in a duel at WB (not 50) or you fought against crappy players. Unless you used elude. Because Toggles and ToF, there is no way they can stop focused accuracy.

    Well it was in Siren's, so yeh, no FA. But still, was fun though. And when it comes to taking on EBs, Ive stood toe to toe with Ballistae more often than not (others requireing different tactics). But anyways back on track.

    So how will hide work now? A toggle? A passive power? A click power? If it costs no end, then i guess it would be treated as a passive, hmm wonder how this will work. If its a toggle that doesnt cost anything, then there would still be a chance for toggle drop wouldnt there? Will be interested to see how this one pans out.

    Tell that to my stalker Gone toe to toe with BS/SR, spines/invuln scrappers and others, and won. Regens on the other hand just take forever to kill when I dont have all my lvl 50 powers.

    So im guessing that we will be getting a freespec with the nwe issue, as most have hide slotted with an endrdx in it. Cool.
