Hi, I just thot I'd add my 2 cents in here. I consider myself a casual gamer and play a lot like veg's scenario above.
The thing with new people understanding the market is that they will mostly learn by common sense. They may make that Decimation mistake once but never again. I was quite intimadated by the market when it came out I had just joined in I8 so there was a lot for me to learn then with the addition of the market I almost gave up, almost. So I checked it out and was vastly overwhemed with the interface. But I compared everything I had with everything on the market and everything at the vendors and spent a few hours just getting familiar with it. Started to ALWAYS check with the market before I sold anything in case it was worth something.
I think your case study of what a Casual Player can do just by playing is a good one. I must have made a ton in Villains just on my "lucky drops" if I didn't sell them at the market I'd be much poorer. (I did get quite lucky solo, 2 or 3 respec recp, 2 steadfast prot uniques, 1 armegeddon, 1 touch of death proc. plus a ton of other so-so's and crap thru lvls 10-48) it got me a perma1 by lvl 47 ~
