Physical location doesnt matter. If they want to play on the NA servers while based in Europe then it is easily possible. Long as they make a NA account and use a NA time code then it should be fine. Just make sure the CoH update launcher reads
"C:\Program Files\City of Heroes\CohUpdater.exe"
instead of
"C:\Program Files\City of Heroes\cohupdater.eu.exe"
That is what is needed to get to either the NA or the EU servers. Just as long as their accounts are marked as the correct one, it should work fine for them. -
Quote:You have a very high post count, that makes you a "muchkin power gamer" too then
I think that speaks volumes on what the average player thinks about Apex and Tin Mage, as opposed to the vocal minority of Muchkin power gamers on these forums who've propped up these two disasters.

I've only done the tin mage taskforce once and that was last night because i just hadnt had enough time to do one yet, guess what? I loved the difficulty of it. It wasnt so hard that people wanted to just give up on it, but was just the right level for an ENDGAME taskforce.
The only reason i play my 50's now are for the shards
Long live the shards!

Damz's view:
If your toon NEEDS a character to keep up with the rest of the team, then you need to go back to the drawing board

Quote:Oh man another good one done today...
They even made Statesman likable!
I used to like statesman
He used to be my ingame idol
A man of courage, hope and all that is good within the world
Now i hate him
He is a coward who is scared to take the risk that could potentially rid the world of all evil
He will be the first to suffer the full wrath of a true hero who was able to tame the well! -
Just done the tin mage for the first time on my first time

Thanks to lady/soul and all the others! Made it much easier than i thought it was

Many happy returns on your baby

Thought of a name yet for him? Or is that a secret?

Quote:lol because new players wouldnt even understand that it was a giant monster and think of it as a normal boss perhaps and rage quit at the difficulty
Why does everyone want to make it easier on new players? I say Spawn the Winter Lord in Outbreak or inside the Hospital, make the game a little more challenging. LOL

Seriously i used to love the snow, it used to bring back happy memories and remind me of a peacefull time
Then . . . . it snowed . . . . . it snowed hard . . . it snowed hard and long and wouldnt stop! I was stuck on a train back from the girlfriends for almost 5 ***** hours! Was only supposed to be just over 2 hours long but stupid snow meant i had to wait forever . . . . while standing because the thing was packed! Then the buses wouldnt run because of it . . . then the taxi took forever to get me home . . . . then my place is frozen solid and taking forever to heat up! Finish it all off, i was walking down a hill this morning next to an old lady thinking to myself uh oh she gonna fall! Then i slipped and SHE helped me up!
So what im trying to say is . . . . snow, i love you, but dont ever come down so heavy and cold again ok? We'll get along great then!
Though the country does look quite beautiful all white for a change

I too love doing tip missions
Just the way how each one feels completely different depending on which choice you made.
Wierd but i prefer doing them as i level up a character since it feels like the main "tip characters" are leveling up as the same time as yourself and chosing their own morality at the same time. Feels more personal

Quote:I don't see how you're supposed to tag all the downed cops OR rescue ____ (who, like most escorts, moves at a slow jog and then whines that you've left him behind), let alone both, in the extremely short time limit. Suggestions from those who've actually done it?
No idea, i feel its one of those impossible tasks surely! -
I got busted by mod08 on Union earlier
Everybody thanked him

Really speaking, the way i look at it is here is an enemy who is [in comparison] quite weak, however once a battle starts he gradually gets more powerfull over time. Now not in powerfull as in strength, but as in his regeneration making him impossible to kill and thus only a matter of time before he kills you.
Really speaking, it was about time we had an enemy in which you did only have a short amount of time to kill him before he started to overpower you.
Now lets look at the trapdoor fight in detail and try and work out whether or not it is too hard.
Trapdoors health/attack strength:
Both of these are where they should be for an EB battle when you think about it. His base stats are not that high when you compare him to other EBs and when you consider that he is indeed an incarnate. Yes he can one/two shot you if you get unlucky, however there are many EBs out there who can do a whole lot worse. Think Frostfire at a low level, remember how many times a whole TEAM used to wipe out back in the day? Even the fused titans at a boss level are imo harder [stats wise] that trapdoor. So when you compare his initial strength/health to other characters in the game? I'ld have to say that my verdict is . . .
Verdict: Thumbs up
The regeneration clones:
These have very low health and can be easily taken down in a few hits. I tend to leave one alive personally to save on time, however if you start to get two up at a point, then his regeneration gets to levels which you do have to take care of them. They dont move which helps a lot and are easy to spot. Maybe if they really were classed as being able to be one shot by ANY power [turn into a level 1 critter for example], then maybe people would find them easier to take down. A slight suggestion i heard people say is to get the clones spawn in a certain location all bunched together, i dont think thats a good idea because it'ld make it far too easy, if they went that route they may as well turn the clones into a stationery object like a computer or his incarate shard. To help against this though, im not sure if its possible but would it be possible to increase the regeneration of an enemy depending on the number of players on a team? So people who want the challenge can stay at x3 difficulty for example.
Verdict: Time frame that the clones spawn needs to be increased but apart from that, thumbs up.
Lava strategy:
This is the main strategy that i hear ingame on the chat channels all the time. "Pull him into the lava, it'll help greatly!", now is this a valid tactic or would you class it as an exploit? Personally i'ld say its using the environment to your advantage, when you are in a fight you have to use anything thats available to you to help you win a tough fight. The damage that the lava does though, that needs to be decreased because it is far too high and makes the fight a LOT easier [also, if he dies in the lava, its dangerous for the player to talk to him in the lava!]. Add it so that he resists a certain part of the damage [special suit?] and it'ld be ok.
Verdict: Using this strategy is fine currently and not an exploit, however the damage scale of it does need to be brought down slightly. For that point, i have to give it a thumbs down.
Snipe and pull:
This has been in the game now since the start. People on normal PUG teams in paper missions have been saying "pull the stormie/engineer" for years. Even against old EB's we have been saying to pull the minions/EB first and deal with it that way, its a valid strategy and the fact that its used on a taskforce as new as the ITF means that a lot of people [including the devs because its still not changed] think it is valid. Not all ATs have decent snipe powers and so for me, my verdict is . . .
Verdict: Thumbs up
Use of inspirations/temps:
My ill/rad would not have been able to have done this mission first time was it not for the help of inspirations. Inspirations are designed to help a character and it is true that they can make a character godlike for a brief amount of time, but that is an exploit that has always been in here. I do think however that temp powers and using a lot of them is a bad exploit in certain situations. This is one of those situations in which temp powers should be excluded imo.
Verdict: Inspirations = thumbs up Temps = thumbs down -
Greatest thing for me? Hmm i dont think i can pick to be honest.
While i still did play my 50's a lot before i19, i've now more or less become solely on my 50s [with the odd low level thrown in]. With the incarnate shards and my goal of getting enough shards to build every single alpha power, i can see my main being used a LOT
Though the plus side though is that im now doing the hero tip missions a lot again and crafting every recipe that i get while keeping the rare salvage [stupid mini game of mine, hard to explain].
Also attatched to that was the fitness change being able to pick new powers. On my ill/rad [main] i was able to pick up flash, choking cloud and rise of the phoenix and slot them to make them worthwhile
[one +recharge IO + the alpha +rech = no slots needed! woo!] and i love the extra damage i am able to get from the holds and the danger powers.
On my fire/dark scrapper [noob buster], i used to play him a lot and was very proud of him since i dont really see that many /dark scrappers around. However over time i stopped playing him, now i've done the respec and even took breath of fire [love the new animation for it!] and got to admit, im back in love with it again. Taking me a while to get him back up to the standards i remember him as [what was classed as strong then, is mediocre now imo], but im slowly and i mean slowly, getting there
So i suppose my favourite feature of i19 is . . . . .
Getting the love for my oldest and [imo] best characters back again
-
They really need their own arcs of how they used to be before they turned
-
I've only just gotten my uncommon alpha yesterday [spiritual heal/rech]. I plan on eventually getting every single one of the powers so i can just switch between them.
My main is the only character that will do this however, since it is supposed to be my strongest and leader of all my alts, it should have the strongest abilities known.
Another good thing about it being an ill/rad . . . . . . all the slots seem to work great for it
-
Quote:Either that or he is just careless for an incarnate . . . . .What was it in Lady Jane's mission for the midnight squad she was seeking? didn't it turn out to be a vial of Hero 1's blood (I don't remember for certain).
and isn't that what the player finds smashed on the ground before encountering Holtz and the weakened Honoree? I wonder if that means anything.
Also, in that last mission of the Ramiel arc we encounter echoes again, and echoes who seem to know that the character will be a god in a future timeline. I wonder then who put them there? It seems odd that if we were travelling back in time to the location of the well, there would be no actual enemies, only echoes.
Love these type of threads though
Make for great reading

Ultimate Damz
Ultimate is fairly straight forward i'ld hope, however my handle/RL nickname isnt. Majority of people pronounce it like "damn/z" but really its like "dame/z".
Annoys when sometimes, especially when i got announced as a finalist on the radios cossie comp ages ago and they said damnz, was like noooo thats not my name!

Quote:If we're powering up our 50s in order to do powered up content isn't the Incarnate System basically just a level bump in disguise? 'Cept without any, ya know, actual 51-60 content to go along with it. Well, those two TFs, I guess.
Are there any Incarnate tip missions? Radio/Newspaper missions? What else is there to do as an Incarnate?
I've always viewed the shadow shard islands as a perfect place to test how strong your character is. So for me, that zone is the incarnate street sweeping zone. [Though i did used to street sweep it a lot "back in the day"] -
Once the entire incarnate system is released, i wonder how long it'ld take to level a brand new 50 character all the way through it
-
Quote:My ill/rad spammed heals in a mothership raid the other day and got shards. Did i not deserve them since i wasnt killing anything and was more or less just talking while the heals were on auto?
5. The Incarnate System could and should be much more individually testing that what it is and seems to be headed for in future releases. As it is now, the laziest, most unskilled players can join a TF PUG and be rewarded richly while more highly skilled players receive far fewer rewards (or none at all). In the lore of comic super heroes, the lesser skilled pretenders fail while the more highly skilled ones succeed. Allowing the RNG to determine who moves forward and who lags behind runs counter to everthing super hero lore is based upon.
End of the day, stats/number increases with the alpha slot does not turn an "unskilled player" into a skilled one. So a skilled player with lesser stats, will still outplay the unskilled higher stats one. -
Quote:Hehe this is true. On a MSR i use my ill/rad and just spam the heals [a healer spammer is much needed imo for a smooth ride PUG raid] and of the two i've done since the incarnate arc, both raids gave me 6/7 while others in the team got about 2 [apart from effy i think who got more than me?].
I have been on three TFs with various Incarnate'd alts, and I notice something odd:
*the laziest, most goof-off ninnyhammer on the team will get 7-8 shards.
*a few others will get two or three.
*one or two on the team will get none whatsoever.

Quote:You mean the 30 minutes since I logged in until we were killing Hamidon? We had two raids in a row both tuesday and wednesday, and they formed with no preparation whatsoever.
Didnt mean the time to get EoE's or whatever, just meant the time to get one organised. Ours takes at least a week before we even can organise one
Sorry for the confusion.
