Maybe we get to blow Oranbega up? That would be nice.

How will the people who don't have CoV be able to get into Grandville?
[/ QUOTE ]
It'll be an instanced outdoor map I'm sure. You wont be going to the actual villain zone. -

Dark Defender's can pitch hit for Controllers in most circumstances. And Ice/Ice Blasters.
[/ QUOTE ]
I wouldn't say Ice/Ice blasters could, they only have single target control and not the AoE control controllers specialize in. Dark defenders can manage as a substitute with their fear cone and black hole.
[/ QUOTE ]
I think Ice/Ice has enough control to manage. It has a massive slow in Shiver, and also ice patch. ice patch is effective against bane spiders, and tarantulas, and pretty much anything that doesn't float.
it won't affect the AVs, obviously, but with three (or even four, depending on the APP) fast cycling single target holds, I think it can more than hold it's own
[/ QUOTE ]
They also could have up to Two AoE sleeps if they took the Cold epic.
Oh, and then theres Sonic Blasters with cone sleeps and single target stuns. -

I was wondering when that thread would get mentioned. I'm noticing a pattern. If they want to put up official discussions of the big interviews, it might be better if they started setting them up before users found them and started their own threads.
[/ QUOTE ]
Or they could sticky the threads users start, like Lighthouse did with Lady_Sadako's thread about an interview the other day. -

We are thrilled to present a preview teaser on Issue 9s upcoming Statesmans Task Force, directly from the desk of Positron (Matt Miller).
Check out the preview here, along with a series of exclusive screenshots of the tremendous action that awaits you in "Breakthrough!"

Sting of the Manticore, for example, only works in Snipe or Assassin Strike powers (which I believe makes Stalkers the only AT that can slot it TWICE).
[/ QUOTE ]
I hate to disappoint Stalkers out there, but Sting of the Manticore can only be slotted into Sniper powers, not Assassin Strikes. I don't know where that rumor started.
Assassin Strikes can slot in sets that are made for Single Target Melee powers.

Dr. Brainstorm, is LRM from Munitions Mastery considered a snipe for the purposes of Snipe IO sets? -
[ QUOTE ]
The issue with Safeguard/Mayhem missions dropping from the Story Arc Pool would seem to be that it would make salvage that would seem to be meant to be relatively rare common as Hydrogen. As mentioned in another thread, how about limiting Story Arc drops in Safegard/Mayhems to once per day? This would provide a repeatable source of Story Arc drops, but the limit technology would keep the farming relatively low.
[/ QUOTE ]
Seems reasonable. They can limit the number of times you get SHO from the LRSF this way, I would think that might be something they could apply to recipes. -

I believe it's been confirmed that both his boots and gloves are inventable costume pieces
[/ QUOTE ]
No.
Currently confirmed Costume Inventions:
- 8 Different Wings
[/ QUOTE ]
Its also been confirmed (by my asking the question), that there will be non-wing Costume inventions. Just so people are clear.
Dr. Brainstorm Sez:
[ QUOTE ]
There will be temporary powers and costume pieces other than wings when the Invention system goes live.

Lighthouse Sez:
[ QUOTE ]
I believe his robotic appendages and wings are something that Doctor Brainstorm invented for himself. Yes, that is the good doctor depicted in the Issue 9 Information page. You may be able to invent those for yourself at some point in the future too!
[/ QUOTE ]
Seems like a pretty good bet that those are inventable boots and gloves in I9. -

Well good for you.
You're in a rather small minority. You're what datamining dismisses as an anomoly.

Inventions has been touted as something that shelved level 50's can partake in. Level 50's that have completed all their story arcs already. Please, how can both of those occur? Level 50's can not experience IO's if they are locked out of acheiving specific rewards because they happened to hit the level cap before I9.
[/ QUOTE ]
It's like I said, we are looking into other options that keeps the mechanic of the four pool system. Our intention is to not make people feel "gimped" for previously completing all their story arcs.

I was trying to figure out where he was standing but couldn't make much sense of it. It sorta looks like IP, but I just can't tell. I also wish that shot was zoomed out just a bit so we could see if there is a ring around States' feet.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah, looks sort of like IP to me. You can see the edge of a bridge on the left. I wonder if that's where they're putting his TF. Seems sort of odd that that would be the location.

Wait, is that Ravenstorm beside Statesman? Who let him off his rock in Striga?
Also, people use that text box when you insert a URL. Breaking the h-scroll just makes threads hard to read. -

Quick question.
Why did you put 4 recharges in Dark Servant when the base duration is 240 seconds, and the power recharges in 240 seconds?
Wouldn't you get alot more use out of the build by slotting something else like ToHit or Heals?
Just thought I would ask because I found that kind of....odd.
[/ QUOTE ]
Are you responding to Jaguar Stryker? Look at how old his post is. He was an SG member of mine and doesn't play anymore, so he can't answer you.
Edit:Also, this is a really old guide. It predates the 1 Pet rule. Before I5 with many recharges you could have 2-3 Dark Servants out at all times.
Those were the days. The AV and Giant Monster soloing, insane days. -

I'd also like to know why Cryptic hasn't taken advantage of many possible merchandising opportunities that exist with CoX because of its ties with comics.
[/ QUOTE ]
I still want my Rikti Monkey plushie!
I'm betting this is more NCSoft's fault though since they run the store that sells the shirts and such. It does surprise me how little they've even tried in this regard, even in regards to something like the shirts. We've had the same CoH shirt since the store opened and the same CoV one since CoV's launch. I wonder how many people might be willing to buy a shirt based on their archetype or one with a popular CoH/CoV saying on it. They really have plenty of money making opportunities with this that are more mainstream than things like HeroClix.
[/ QUOTE ]
We uh, we don't even have the T-shirts anymore. Seriously, they're gone from the PlayNC Store.
Searching the knowledge base turned up this:
[ QUOTE ]
City of Heroes and City of Villains game boxes and game time cards can be purchased from many local and online retailers. Other City of Heroes and City of Villains merchandise, such as posters or T-shirts, is not currently available for purchase.

Maybe people wouldn't attack them so much if they'd take some communications classes and do a MUCH better job talking to us about fixing major bugs like the crashing that's been effecting far too many of us since I8 was released TWO MONTHS ago? ...[snip]... they devs and moderators seem to be tone deaf to important issues effecting the game.
[/ QUOTE ]Have you LOOKED in the Community/Dev Digest lately? There's been more posts by Castle, Positron, Statesman, Visigoth, et al, in the last two months than there was in the FIVE MONTHS before that! I mean, honestly. I think you're deliberately wearing blinders here.
[/ QUOTE ]
There was a time when you couldn't enter a thread on this forum without tripping over a red name.
The dev communication was unbelievable. Until some of them were no longer willing to put up with the hostility of some posters here in this forum.
I miss Geko's posts.
** Leaves out a plate of cookies as Geko bait **

He never really posted very much as I recall. _Castle_ has been far more forthcoming with players about how powers work, upcoming changes and the like then Geko was. -

Statesman, your high-road responses seem vaguely inhuman. I would respect you much more if you made veiled jabs at detractors or perhaps called them names. People are certainly entitled to have an opinion, but sharing it is another matter. Since you've got all the inside information on the game, you can let people know when they say things that are terribly stupid. Otherwise, they may stay under the impression that the words they spew out are good ideas instead of intellectual vomit.
I mean, you probably had your share of idiot customers when you worked in retail. There were probably a couple that got told to jump off a bridge and/or never return, right? The same rules apply here! Usually, it's the mods' job to do that sort of thing, but I'm sure you could hop in now and again to tell people they need to (censored) in many hurtful words.
[/ QUOTE ]
Letting people know they can provoke him would just incite more attacks and forum drama. Demonstrating to people that they can upset you is giving them a form of power over you.
States is a big boy, he can take the criticism and laugh at the off the wall stuff. As well, as the public face of Cryptic, he'll undoubtedly be looking for further investors and partners for other game projects in the future. I doubt he'd want to do anything in public that might make people skeptical of his ability to keep his cool. -

mountains of Yserbius (sierra network)

Wasn't it 'Shadows of Ysrebius?'
Earlier poster...
Air Warrior! Dear lord, the amount of time and $$$ I sank into that game. I could play at 300bps for $6 an hour or 1200bps for $12.99 an hour back on Compuserve, then had to cover the phone bill on top of that. Between IoK and AW, I had some huge Compuserve bills.

My god, Yserbius! I LOVED that game. The old Sierra network kicked all kinds of butt.

and you'll get to run around in Marvel costumes
[/ QUOTE ]
I don't even understand what this means. Is this just another way of saying "Spider-man and Hulk clones for everyone", or does it mean "tights and Kirby discs"? Either way, I don't know if I'd count that as a point in MUO's favor.
It still seems disingenous to produce a product that is actively in competition with another of your own products, but I really don't see support for CoX drying up. As near as I can tell, the two games will have their own separate teams for the most part, so the important part - having people working on and updating CoX - is secured.
[/ QUOTE ]
But Jack is getting at the fact that Marvel is going to have a much larger team because now they have more money, leaving CoX's team much smaller.
[/ QUOTE ]
Thats not necessarily true. Read the article again, note how they've expanded the staff so much that they're moving into a new building.
[/ QUOTE ]
Also, check out the list of positions Cryptic is looking to fill . I don't think smaller staff is going to be an issue.

On the other hand, just because they're expanding their staff, that doesn't mean those folks will be working on CoX. -

If I might play devil's advocate for a second, in the presence of EQ 2, how well is EQ doing?
And yes, that's a rhetorical question.
[/ QUOTE ]
According to MMORPGchart.com which hasn't been updated since June, EQ1 subs are falling while EQ2 Subs are rising. They're basically converging.
However, given the genre, you really have to consider the WoW factor in declining numbers for EQ1.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, and I don't see how it's relevant. Better to ask how EQ is doing after DAoC. Similar genre, different games.
EQ vs EQ2 would be more akin to CoH vs CoH2, which MUO is not.
[/ QUOTE ]
You don't see how its relevant that Cryptic is producing another MMO in the same genre as its current MMO? Thats the reason for the EQ1 to EQ2 comparisons. -
This is a really interesting, well presented concept. I'm not 100% on all the powers, but its a neat idea.
