So this pretty much says there will be no new powersets in I10. Nail in the coffin for me. I'm out!

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'll say this yet again. Play the game because you enjoy it as it is now, not in hopes of some future change.

I'd rather pay for the box and get more stuff.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Amen. 1000 times.

However, I think that entire box / free stuff switcharoo was purely a marketing ruse. If they could have had that stuff ready for a box 6+ months ago, how can it be taking so long to do it now? Has always sounded bogus to me. *shrug*

    [/ QUOTE ]

They perhaps could have, if they'd spend the extra money to expand the CoX staff to create the expansion box, as they did with CoV. That they chose not to do so says that they didn't think it was the best business decision.
  3. Polls are good. I'm glad you guys are doing more of them. I presume these are linked in the updater? If not, they should be, so those who don't visit the forums regularly see them.
  4. Are all Non-US residents supposed to select Other as location?
  5. Nicely done again. This has really helped me think about how to plan IO builds for my characters, especially those that don't have a lot of IO Sets possible to slot, like Dark Miasma.
  6. Major props for this Suckerpunch. I hadn't expected anything like this to be availble for a while.
  7. Sad. Multiple posts in this thread with one user telling someone to do something thats apparently censored to themselves, all reported to the moderator days ago, and nothing done about them.

Interesting guide, but perhaps you could add your total set bonuses from IO Sets.

    [/ QUOTE ]

The reason I didn't do this was because I steadfastly refuse to tell people EXACTLY how to build their character. Like I said in the introduction, there's no way to actually meet all my slotting recommendations.

I really like when guides don't just hand hold someone from 1-50. There should be some choices in there for the player to make. I want to create min-maxers, not FOTM followers.

Give a man a build, and he'll have one good character, teach a man to build and he'll be 1337!

    [/ QUOTE ]

True, but perhaps just doing it to for one type of power or set might show the potential of stacking set bonuses.
  9. Malaise has been made a hero again already, its just happened "off panel" as it were. He shows up as a hero in CoV, he's back in the Vindicators.

Also, for Hero-1 getting riktified, just check the cover of the final CoH Comic. Like so. Also, this thread.

And it should be made clear Lighthouse is NC Soft hence a orange name not a red.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Check the colour settings on your monitor dude, no orange names.

When we turn our eyes to the future we see some pretty awesome stuff coming together. New costumes, new temp powers and new inventions. A villain group returns with a dramatic change that will shake the very foundation of Paragon City and the Rogue Isles. An old friend returns as an enemy. Enemies will become friends. Issue 10 and beyond is really shaping up nicely!

    [/ QUOTE ]

First, thanks for the update. I think these State of the Game messages are a great idea.

    So, onto the posssibilities:
-A villain group returns = 5th Column Return. Lets say, led by the Reichsman.
-An old friend returns as an enemy = Hero 1 Leads a new Rikti invasion of Paragon and the Rogue Isles
-Enemies become friends = Co-Op Zones dealing with the above. At an extreme, perhaps cross over, but I consider that doubtful

And while all this content sounds very exciting, its when it gets delivered that will be critical. Hopefully future issues will not take as long to devlop, if a hold is put on developing new systems or new graphical gew-gaws.
  12. Interesting guide, but perhaps you could add your total set bonuses from IO Sets.
  13. Quick, someone post Scrapulous' IO slotting examples in here.

For those in the Brisbane, Queensland area, I have bought the last card at Indooroopilly.

There are no cards at Redbank, either CBD stores, Cairns or Toowoomba.

All stores tell me they're not getting anymore in (hardly a surprise) but cannot tell me if they're getting the new PlayNC cards.

Any comment from the mods for Australian distributors? Can I purchase the codes through the internet from USA or Canada and apply them to my account?

    [/ QUOTE ]

If you're comfortable buying online, why not just use your credit-card to subscribe directly?
  15. This thread should be getting shorter, shortly.

Just out of curiousity, do auto assault time cards work for CoH? I've heard both yes and no. And I can get auto assault cards cheap at futureshop.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yes. I've used them in the past. The Knowledge Base also assures you of this. These new cards are basically just like the old ones, only packaged to tell us that they can be used this way.
  17. Excellent marketing idea to do this. I wonder if these coming out are why I found CoV and Auto Assault GTC's in the bargain bin at my local London Drugs (Western Canadian Drug Store/Electronics Retailer). I just got two months of play time for $9.99 CDN!
  18. Very nicely done. I don't even play tanks, and I found this a pretty informative guide. Especially for showing the potential of stacking set bonuses. You're going to have everyone asking you to do one of these for their favourite builds.

An elegant synopsis. I think I'm going to have to go find this article. However, I doubt Jack will be reading this, which is a shame.

    [/ QUOTE ]

*ahem* I read the boards every day!

    [/ QUOTE ]
I doubt it... I'll bet someone lets him know when comments like this come up just so he can slip in, pretend he's following along, and then slip away again to do whatever it is he does when he pretends to be too busy to answer serious questions.

[/ QUOTE ]Or like I suggested, a trusted developer like Positron is allowed to log in as him and post ambiguously when threads like this appear...

    [/ QUOTE ]

I bet he has an intern whose only task is running ego searches for him.

While an interesting article, these Wings have been finished since Issue Eight went live, with the exception of the Tech Wings I believe. Did it really take Jay the entirety of the months since then to make a few pairs of boots and one set of wings? Furthermore, the drop rate for these new Wings is so poor that Jay may as well not have wasted his time creating them, as a teeny, tiny, minority of players will benefit from his work if the situation is not improved.

Also, I really hope those costume designs for the example characters in there are the product of the random button. They're not really what I'd expect from a professional designer.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I really don't think it's Jay's call as to when his designs make it on to the game...that's more State's and Posi's call.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I would think that if there were more costume pieces ready to be put in the game, they'd put them in. I'm not of the opinion that costume options have been developed and withheld. I'm of the opinion that they haven't been developed.

Sadar said in the previous Warcry interview that they were already working on Issue 11 features. So if the models for these wings have been in the code since I8, who knows what Jay has been working on since.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Who knows indeed? Because all the evidence we have of his handi-work that hasn't been known for months is 3 pairs of boots, 1 pair of wings, and a new pair of glasses.

Of course, Cryptic has other projects under way, so perhaps he's working on those.

Because the Test server is representative of what will happen on Live. And because everyone should always have every time whenever they want it because rewards are pointless

    [/ QUOTE ]

    [/ QUOTE ]

I've never argued that these costumes should be automatically available to everyone. I just think the drop rate needs to be reasonable. Which it currently is not.

Also, your point about the Test Server is absurd. Do you even read the Community Digest? Or did you miss the "Issue Nine Final Focus Testing" thread Ex Libris posted? Thats a pretty good indication thats whats currently on test, small bug fixes aside, is what will go live.

The Test Server is very representative of what goes Live. The vast majority of changes that go to Test, go to Live unchanged. There are a few exceptions, but they are a very, very, small percentile of the total changes.

Furthermore, drop rates are coded into the game, unless they are intentionally changed by the developers, they aren't going to magically change just by I9 being pushed to Live.
