  1. Hopefully the prestige roll out will happen a week or two after I11 hits, to give groups time to take advantage of the doubled SG roster limit.

    Special Thanks to Our Players

Now back to you, the players. You are the lifeblood of our game. In celebration of our new studio and our exciting plans, and in order to thank you for the fantastic community that you have built, we are pleased to announce the following.

Full Access to City of Heroes and City of Villains®
All players with City of Heroes retail* accounts will now have access to City of Villains, and all City of Villains retail* accounts will now have access to City of Heroes. Players that didn't previously have access to "the other side" will find that they do now. Just log in to check it out!

    Debt Wipe
After the launch of Issue 11: A Stitch in Time this Fall, we are removing Debt from all characters and giving you a fresh start. Actual date will be announced shortly. Have fun in the mean time.

    20,000 Prestige
Also after the launch of Issue 11, all Supergroups will receive an additional 20,000 Prestige per Supergroup member, meaning SGs could acquire up to 3 million Prestige based upon their Supergroup membership roster! Actual date will be announced shortly.

We wub you too, devs *hug*

Not that it affects me personally, but does this mean that people who used to only have CoH access will now be able to enter SG bases?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Since bases are a feature of CoV, and you require CoV to enter one, it certainly should.

Cryptic Studios is able to fully focus on their current project.

.... Which is or is not CO*? Just wondering because I'm sort of confused about this. Just wonderin.

..... God I wish I had programming experience

    That would be MUO.

I hope this doesn't sound pessimistic (I have no reason to think this will negatively impact the game), but what do the following parties have to gain from this deal?

    NC Soft
    Cryptic
    The Players

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well, for Cryptic, they don't have to work on supporting two different games in the same genre that will be direct competitors.

Also, I suppose this puts us closer to some sort of PlayNC Monthly Pass deal to get access to TR, CoH, Lineage, etc.
  6. Wait, what?

Cryptic is selling off its independently developed IP? Man...
  7. [ QUOTE ]
Combos for Duel Blades are good idea.

But i also want to know when is i11 going to be released on live severs?

    [/ QUOTE ]

We're still a ways away from that. It hasn't gone to Open Beta yet, which would be the step between Closed Beta (where we are now) and going Live.

As a total guess, I would say we might be looking at Late Novemeber/Early December for the roll out of I11 to Live.

Also, keep in mind that the Developers will almost never give a firm date for the release of a new Issue, and any date they do give is something to think of as a something they're aiming for, not a written-in-stone guarantee.
  8. Hmm. If I live in Canada, do I choose Other? Or Pacific Northwest since I'm a whole two hour drive from Seattle?
  9. I'm glad to see you're stepping the moderation. Its been mediocre to poor of late, and I'd started to think the only way to actually get mod action taken was to PM you or Lighthouse, as the "Report to Moderator" button didn't seem to actually get anything done.
  10. So EG, Weapon Customization= a buff for Lethal Damage sets?
  11. [ QUOTE ]
I have a new suggestion. Lets keep all lemmings from being able to post, so they can't keep good ideas down.

    [/ QUOTE ]

If you think board posters can prevent the developers from implementing an idea, you ascribe far, far, too much power to this forum. UBB Boards is not wired directly into the Cryptic Hivemind.

Its amusing that you ascribe herdlike behaviour to people with a differing viewpoint from your own, while engaging in the very same behaviour.
  12. <qr>

Whoah. Unexpectedly awesome news! Flashback I was expecting, but not Weapons Customization.
  13. They hadn't added the Message of the Day Pop Up to the game at the time they did the powerset polls. So, unless you happen to have a time travelling irish sports car, or your last name is McFly, complaining that the poll wasn't mentioned in something that didn't exist is silly.

They did post links in the Updater. Which is where the PvP results should have been limited to as well. And since most people use the updater to launch the game, they did a decent job of publicizing the poll. While you can bypass the updater, most of those who know how to do that are the informed sort of players who monitor the dev digest anyways.

Of course, you don't really care about publicizing the poll, only that people who have a different opinion from you are "idiots" right?
  14. [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]

It may not be a democracy, but I do seem to remember the devs stating that their priority was to give the players what they wanted if it were possible. Is a poll possible? No one is saying to make it a fill in the blank pole, but if the devs would throw out 20 ideas that they believe are doable, and then let us narrow that down to 6 or so for the official poll, it would be a step in the right direction.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'd much prefer they narrow down the list themselves and present us with a handful of 'most likely' candidates to choose from.

I'm not interested in sifting through a bunch of no-hope choices like Rodeo Clown Fu, Body Odor Projection and Violent Flatulence....that's why I pay them the big money. =P

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well, when they presented some of the options on the polls like Shields, Growth, Ball and Chain, etc, with the big *"Animation constraints may present us from developing these sets or greatly delay their development" sort of speech, I really wondered what the point of including them as options to vote for was, aside from potential market research for MUO.
  15. <qr>

You know, complaining about bladed weapons being "killler" or "unheroic" in a game where we can routinely set people on fire, hurl shards of ice at them, shoot them full of harmful radiation, electrocute, and molest with tentacles from another dimension seems to be sort of missing the point.

Honestly, just because something is metal and has a sharp edge, its not exactly any more deadly than most of the other offensive melee or ranged powersets.

Now, I expect the response to this is going to be some sort of "Blasters aren't heroic" insanity isn't it?

hmm.. is it just me, or is a large chunk of this thread missing?

    [/ QUOTE ]

It's the part where I put on a bra and said "Look at THESE dual blades!"

    [/ QUOTE ]

    I musta missed that part....

The part thats missing is about the Avengers. like 2 pages worth of posts

    [/ QUOTE ]

I thought I posted about Patriot of the Young Avengers having a shield. I wonder why those posts went away.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Because the board software chains posts together, and if the original post in a chain is deleted, all the chained posts are. Which is why the mods should edit out the content of objectional posts, and not butcher conversations like this.
  17. [ QUOTE ]
To all the people spouting off about the majority have voted for dual blades....I have only one word for you. Shields.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well, lots of people voting for a set that was clearly marked as being difficult to actually produce due to animation time requirements should not be surprised that the set with the asterisk was not produced.
  18. [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]
I'd say there are more precedents for dual blade-wielding comic book characters than for clawed ones or hammer users. I can't think of any mace-users offhand, but there might be one.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yeah, about that. Other than Wolverine, is there even ONE other character in a comic book anywhere to use claws from the hands? I'm seriously asking here, because I don't know of any.

    [/ QUOTE ]

As in, the metal claws that come out of your wrists as opposed to finger nail style claws like Saber Tooth, Wolfsbane, Feral, Wildchild etc?
  19. [ QUOTE ]
Oh, this is clever. This is so so clever.

That reference to the 'widow of Doctor Greg Miller'? Well, Dr. Miller is the second person you talk to in the Outbreak mission. He's the one who sends you off on the rest of the missions.

This whole paper story is about how different history would be if one single detail was changed. Remove Greg Miller, and the Outbreak Plague is still raging after four years, because WE haven't been containing it. In this alternate history, the heroes haven't been able to do the Outbreak mission, so the plague has been rampant.

The whole flow of history works out differently because of that ONE detail - whether Greg Miller lives or dies.

    It's all very Ubelmann.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Nicely reasoned.

    [ QUOTE ]
Also, the issue of the newspaper is Issue 11. Nice.

I am further venturing that there is something to taking a level 50 character and being able to play the game all over again with that character.

    [/ QUOTE ]

huh... Certainly not unheard of in gaming... Start on easy mode, finish, unlock epic mode sort of thing...

    [/ QUOTE ]

Its been going on since at least Zelda on the NES, if not earlier.
  21. Congrats on the new position AS. Shame about the hockey team in the city you're moving to though.
  22. [ QUOTE ]
penny arc. has made many different books and strips with different themes. i have seen some on a lot of different game topics, a TON of warcraft penny arc. strips, but i have seen only one time that the penny peeps have deamed the city of game worthy of making a comic on us. so i was wondering if there was more out there or just the one 3 frame hammi joke one i saw like a few months back.

    [/ QUOTE ]

They've done no CoH strips. PvP has done some CoH strips though.

Also, a bit of advice. People will understand your questions a bit more clearly if you use complete words and phrase things a little more clearly. If you'd asked "Have Penny Arcade made any comics about CoH?" you might have got an answer before now.

By the way, you can try searching the archives at PA for comics, though the search function is not so great. You can also search the Tags at PennyPacker to try and find strips about specific subjects.
  23. Fix the Cathedral of Pain? You know, that advertised feature of CoV that still isn't live and functional nearly two years after CoV launch?

I'd say it really shows just how far Dumb Luck can take a snipey hate-rag

Where's the conventions for PvPOnline, or VGCats, anything for that matter that actually has clever writing?

    [/ QUOTE ]

    There's PAX.

Seriously, if all you can call Penny Arcade is a "snipey hate-rag" you really have no clue what they've been up to. I'll say this much: It's not dumb luck.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yeah, that's not a particularly good assessment of the comic there _Ilr_.

PA's catchphrase used to be "You wouldn't get it" and its one of those sites you either do, or don't. Dumb luck doesn't have much to do with the sucess the PA guys have had. Dumb luck doesn't take you from writing a webcomic in your spare time, to it being a full time job, merchandise, a million dollar plus raising charity for children's hospitals, a successful convention and your own videogame.
