You know what would be interesting... A rikti city zone where the Rikti that are not warmongers try to live...
enemies in the area might be the PPD and Longbow... you know, groups that are generally heroes but because of the Rikti War Zone are attacking Rikti... -
im not sure if this is an art issue, but it is somewhat in my opinion... Please raise the fly height. Being able to sore high above the city would be so much more awesome than not even beig able to get to the tops of the highest buildings...
-
Another thing... Paragon Times... bring it back.
-
I would love to see the war walls fall and all that area between the zones on the map get built up...
Basically what i mean is i would love to see the city physically grow by tearing down the walls slowly over time...
Also as i mentioned in the other thread can we get some roof hopping areas that can extrend from one side to the others... there are like none hero side and it is integral to my favorite type of hero.
Along with that I would love to see more iconic places for me to go look at or hang out at. Nooks and hidden passages leading to conference rooms for various hero groups.
Oh yeah... Send me to other planets too!!!! -
Quote:According to the quote I posted up there somewhere...Obsidius has confused me.
Here's how I envisioned the parallel Earths, using a city analogy:
Each Earth is a building. Each building has a basement (Netherworld) and an attic (Shadow Shard). Portal Corp is essentially building a subway that travels between buildings.
Are you saying that each building *shares* the basement with all the other buildings?
There are 17 Shadow Worlds
These Shadow Worlds are in the Netherworld
These Shadow Worlds can be reached via Portal Corp which travels to Alternate worlds
Therefor the NetherWorld is either an "anti" multiverse or a section of the regular multiverse...
Not only is it one of those two... Because powers are drawn FROM the Netherworld in presumably every world we've come across the Netherworld is intrinsically linked to every world in the list somehow...
Why they are called the Shadow Worlds or the Netherworld is unknown in the lore.
The basement in your analogy would be the Underworld or Hell where the Circle of Thorns calls forth it's demons from. Croatoa would be Earthbound spirits that live just out of sync with our plane of reality, or in this case they might be the dining room and we're in the living room on the same level. The Overworld or whatever you want to call it would be the luxurious attic where all the gods reside... None of those are connected as shown by the Rikti and the incarnates.
To someone who mentioned this...
The Shadow Shard is another alternate world... not part of Earth-Prime -
Hrmmm I wonder if there is a system for the names that they have thought of for what each piece means... It's got to be a coordinate system or a registry number...
If it's a Registry then they have found a lot of earths and need to revamp the system as they are going to run of numbers soon...
So... the only thing it makes sense as is some sort of cordinate system...
Alpha Upsilon 24-2 - World Destroyed by your alternate
Gamma Upsilon 28-3 - Nemesis controled world (destroyed large cities)
Delta Zeta 24-10 (Axis America/Axis Earth)
Epsilon Tau 27-2 "Clockwork Earth"
Zeta Tao 7-63 (Shadow World)
Lamda Rho 57-20 - "Werewolf World"
Nu Beta 9-7 - Council War ravaged world
Sigma Psi 20-7 - Revenant Hero dimension
Tau Delta 8-7 - Nemesis Automaton dimension
Tau Gamma 9-24 - OranBegan Earth
Upsilon Beta 9-6 - "Praetorian-Earth"
Omega Omicron 26-20 - "Council Empire"
This tells us that we are working with 24 by 24 by 57 by 63 variable number
This likely doesn't tell coordinates in time or space so there is no reason to consider 3D space in the system. Why do I say that? look at the numbers and think of the missions... You almost always portal in at exactly the same place when portal corp is there on the other end and the numbers just don't line up so the probability is that time nor space is adressed with this system.
So this to me can only be 1 of 2 things...
A coordinate system within a defined area or some sort of "wavelength" or "phase" settings for each world...
The phase setting is stupid as it would suggest only a poorly thought out system that would be self limiting with no real benefit
Thus I would argue that it is a grid type coordinate system
Alpha Beta X-Y
Alpha = horizontal on the grid
Beta = Vertical on the grid
X = horizontal within the previously selected cell
Y = Vertical within the previously selected cell
or something akin to this. -
Quote:There is a large problem with what you've described... No such thing as the "Etherworld" in canon and Portal Corp uses the same method to reach the Netherworld Earths as the others Earths...My internal picture is almost the same, but slightly different. I'll have to draw it out sometime, but consider the Code box the "Multivese":
Code:*** Etherworld *** | | | | | | | | Entropy | | | | | | | | v v v v v v v v Parallel Earths / Universes (each w/ their own planes of existence) | | | | | | | | Entropy | | | | | | | | v v v v v v v v *** Netherworld ***
Well, that's one perspective on it anyhow. -
So CoH Cosmology essentially looks something like this...
Earth-prime is made bigger just because the need to show a sub divide. -
So you would say...
That there are infinite number of regular alternate Earths
Each of those Earths have some connection to the 17 "Shadow Worlds"
Each of those Earths have their own Spirit World and Psychic Plane
Where do you place the God dimension and the hell dimension? They seem to me more like they would be Shadow Worlds due to the portals... either way i think they are separate from the "Croatoan world"
Like...
Over World
Regular World
Spirit World
Under World
OR the spirit world is 3 realms in itself so you have Regular World and Spirit World and then Spirit World is divided into 2 or 3 parts?
Those are all part of one universe and then each universe is also connected to the Nether World that all other universes are connected to as well? (remember netherworld is where people draw some powers from and as quoted it is an alternate world IN the netherworld...which implies that the netherworld si a group of alternate worlds ruled over by one force or some sort of special set of worlds)
Also another reason i think croatoa, overworld, and underworld are all Alternate earths in the netherworld is because the Shadow Shard is what caused Croatoa to start happening...
But then...if they are all one earth in the netherworld that would mean all versions of Statesman are being powered by the same Zeus which I think is unlikely... -
It seems I sorta have some of my answer with what i found on paragon wiki...
Quote:The Shadow worlds are Alternate Earths that are in the Netherworld?Born with a connection to Shadow Earth in the Netherworld,
So the Netherworld...seems to be Alternate Earths that all other Earths have a connection to...which would indicate... That there are 24+17 earths making 41 so far... I wonder if this is in the Bible or they just randomly came up with these when making those arcs. -
So I did a quick look through the missions, remembered a bit, and looked at paragonwiki's list...
And I counted between 25 and 27 worlds.
01. Earth-Prime
02. Spirit World
03. Crotoan-Earth
04. Rikti-Earth
05. Shadow Shard
06. Hydra Dimmension
07. "Clockwork Earth" Epsilon Tau 27-2
08. "Praetorian-Earth" Upsilon Beta 9-6
09. - Banished Pantheon World
10. - Freakshow controlled world
11. - knives of Artemis Earth
12. - No name or special feature
13. - Devouring Earth controled
14. Tau Gamma 9-24 - OranBegan Earth
15. Alpha Upsilon 24-2
16. "Council Empire" Omega Omicron 26-20
17. "Werewolf World" Lamda Rho 57-20
18. Sigma Psi 20-7 - Revenant Hero dimension
19. Tau Delta 8-7 - Nemesis Automaton dimension
20. Nu Beta 9-7 - Council War ravaged world
21. Gamma Upsilon 28-3 - Nemesis controled world (destroyed large cities)
22. - 2nd Nemesis Dimension (Sun blotted out)
23. - 3rd Nemesis Dimension (Superdine world)
24. Zeta Tao 7-63 (Shadow World)
25. Delta Zeta 24-10 (Axis America/Axis Earth)
26. Circle of Thorns world
27. Warrior Earth
Now... why do i say between 25 and 27... well because # 2 and 3...
The Spirit World and the Croatoan Earth I both consider alternate earth and not the same Earth... Why? Well to access the spirit world you use portals and they say different dimension so it seems like it is a different earth... Croatoa is also spirit world, but it is pretty clear they are not in the same as the gods and demons...
So are they "other earths"... OR...
are they other plains? Could this then be those 17 "Shadow worlds" mentioned and each Alternate Earth has 17 planes to it?
0. Earth
1. Overworld
2. Underworld
3. Netherworld
4. Croatoa
5. Psychic Plane
6-17. ???
What do you think? How do you think the Cosmology is?
Are these "shadow worlds" planes in each Universe or are they universes in themselves that each 'Earth' universe just happens to contact these 17 shadow worlds. -
I was giving an example... Coca Cola spends a lot of money to advertise as is and not to mention just putting out a new label will draw attention even without advertising because people are crazy.
-
Cross promoting...
Sprunk Cola ... talk to Coca Cola have them make real Sprunk Cola and you can advertise it in game, which you already do. Limited time only... you get free advertising and we get a limited edition pop, plus Coke gets a free advertising in the game... -
Quote:before i go on... I hate those comic encyclopedias published by the comic companies, mainly cuz they are trash for information when they cover a broad spectrum of characters... the batman encyclopedia = phenomenal... The DC encyclopedia = not worth the money. The first thing I thought of when I saw this was remembering something I used to see in comics when I was younger... ages ago, I used to have the "Who's Who" (DC Comics) and "The Official Handbook to the Marvel Universe". They were done as alphabetical groups, so I remember one edition that had Scarlet Witch, one had Lana Lang, one had Angel (and ArcAngel), one had Cloak and Dagger, and so on. But they had at least 20-30 heroes/villains in each.
Rather than do something similar with just screenshots from the game, a novel way that Marketing might take advantage of the enthusiasm of the playerbase is to hold a massive contest - say, submit 'comic style' art (and obviously T for Teen style) for up to 5 NPC characters. A group of Paragon Studio judges (including David Nakayama and Ken Morse, for example, the art guys) then selects the best ones to represent the NPCs in the "City of Heroes Who's Who."
They can even do a "Create a Character's Look" contest - what DOES Galaxy Girl look like? Or Dauntless? How about the Dream Doctor? Or any of the other heroes/villains we hear about but never see? Talk about a chance to have your ideas made canon!
Then voila, we've got a comic-style "Who's Who" of the CoH-verse.

I like digital which is why I suggested it, plus it could be updated rather easily to which would be nice...it would also function a bit more slicker and you could link between relevant things...Another reason is a little bit more cleanliness as some things are easier to put in (i'll explain in a moment) But most of all... it's just something that i think all the characters in CoH would have and it would be like making part of the game a part of reality which is a big trend in marketing now adays
See what I'd want in something like this is... something like this mock up
Then when you click on the head image you'd get a turn around (for those that don't know this is a turn around)
But that could be easily placed on a separate page... it's just not as clean. -
Or you could just look at it how the Bat series explains it... They don't want the fall of the world because it destroys their power base as much as it would destroy any Hero's power base. You can't get rich off people that are dead... well most of us can't.

"Is a Storm Coming with issue 19?". -
Actually... to become an incarnate it would be stupid for it to be in a team just by the fact we are talking about deities that are giving you powers and they are supposed to be choosing you as themselves... Unless you want to go the power rangers route doing it in a group is just meh...especially if it is a mix hero/villian/rogue/vigilante group
-
Black Pebble,
You deal with marketing right? Does that include the website and other products?
If so I'd like to request some things...
a Dosier or Encyclopedia. What i mean is something like a little electronic book type thing (could be sold as a program, a book, or a electronic device) that has information on every thing so far in CoH... mind you not a copy of the bible, but something like...
a turn around image of every character, break down of their powers, history, physical stats, and alliances, and other status.
It would be rather cool to have just for a read or to have sitting next to a PC to quick find. I'm sure people would be willing to buy it for quite a bit of money and more or less it just requires putting it together as all the pieces and information is already out there.
Another thing I'd like to see is an expansion of the CoH comics... I don't see why CoH couldn't become it's own Brand and print comics like DC or Marvel. Sure they wouldn't be as successful, but the story and lore is really great and would likely draw in more customers...more so than one comic called city of heroes ever would.
Waffles... I just want waffles please... -
Other people shouldn't exist in my game cuz I can make them kinky
-
I think it would be better to call it a mid ranged fighter, which this game is severely lacking
Kinetic melee if I saw it right would be considered mid ranged... maybe a bit more distance than what I saw, but a lot shorter than ranged stuff.
I would include
Pole Arms
Thrown projectiles such as darts, boomerangs, chakrams <- least likely workable.
The pulse blast that Iron man has which sends out a short range burst
Nodachis
Kinetic melee would fit
Various elemental attacks
Chains and whips
Obvious secondaries stated above.
Dragon
Elemental Birds
Robot
Mechsuit
Sidekick
Large feline/canine
Other Birds
The big problem with this AT is conceptually it's all over the place and instead of having pretty similar powers to every other power in the set it would focus on building around the pet and it's abilities...
for example the
Dragon pet would pretty much add a 2nd or 3rd hit every few attacks just by toggling it on.
However a tier 6-9 power might be a merging power where the Dragon merges with the character to give it armor and strength boost...
Where as a mechsuit would have that power as it's main toggle... Elemental birds would have a similar power, but other birds and the feline/canine wouldn't have anything like it... -
-
Oh also this is not treading on Controller or Mastermind territory, nor beast masters...
Controllers = Control a force or a group or type of something... These guys don't "control" anything. They work in a coop with the pet. Pets are "uncontrollabe" and more of an aside to the power.
Masterminds = are about controlling a group of minions while you back them up in some way. Pets are supposedly expendable and are more just a simple 1 for 1 replacement for the stats you would have as another AT.
Beastmasters/tamers = control of any animals around and using them to provide your strength/defense. Same as mastermind, but with animals...
Pets = on the other hand would work in conjunction with their partner... They are partners, not subject/minion.
This AT would not step on the toes of the other pet ATs...
Another cool idea would be is that with say the Dragon set the Dragon would start as a hatchling and as you level up it would grow into an adult dragon...
Also this would be a great AT to include a "sidekick set" which would be cool. -
Just DL the trial version from the site, install that and update it to the current build and then log in normally... You don't have to go through steam to do it.
-
Yeah that's a crappy name...
Basically this AT would consist of a Primary power set that is the PC's weapon or other powers... while the secondary would be the Pet's powers.
Each Pet secondary set gets 1 pet as their first power. They don't get multiple pets (unless it makes sense as a single pet such as a swarm of bees) The pet would be a toggle power that consumes no end.
Ideas would include
Dragon
Phoenix
Mecha
And one could also see something like "power armor" could fit into this group as as the power armor would act as the pet to the player...
