The problem is that the information for lore is far too spread out and is weighed down by the game info from which it is derived. It's a design thing that more often than not over looks the lore component so that it can describe or talk about a mechanics or direct information.
The site works well for game information, but is absolutely horrible, in it's design, for the lore. That's not a bad thing. It's just how it works sometimes with designs.
For example:
Quote:That's all good... but there is a ton more information and history about Rikti Earth and Rikti Culture which you can find if you run multiple searches, but why? That makes you miss a lot of the information and gets aggravating after a while when you have to do that with every item.Rikti Earth: Home of the Rikti. Rikti Earth destroyed magic and gods early in its history and was visited by an unknown alien power around the time of 2000 B.C. The Rikti are genetically similar to humans but were altered by the aliens that visited them into having a "Hive Mind". -
same thing... neither of those are about lore and don't address what i said.

Using an SDK you didn't design for later costs resource time, depending on the SDK and the code it would be far more expensive to sell on something like that.

Paragon wiki sucks for lore. It just does. It's built for a wholey different purpose and thus makes it incredibly convoluted and iredeemably badly designed for people who just want lore. Not to mention Paragon wiki doesn't include things that are part of lore because it is not explicitly stated in the game... like Speedsters exist in lore, but not in game mechanics so Wiki doesn't really mention them... Same things with changing size powers.

I was thinking that it might be cool to set up a wiki for the Lore of the CoH Multiverse.
I personally would love to have something like this...something that gets right to the lore and none of the rest of the junk for those of us that just want to get to the lore.
So question...
Who else would be interested in it?
Who else would help work on it?
The way I'm thinking about setting it up is..
Have these 5 main categories: Multiverse, Powers, Archtypes, Races, Technology
Multiverse is then broken down into the various universes and each of those are broken down into: Organizations, History, People, Maps (redrawn and labeled)
so what think you all?
edit: sorry for double post accidentally posted it in wrong section >.> -
Quote:That's not coincidence. I heard about it a while ago but forget exactly the reason, but it has something to do with primary colors...Something like since most heroes wear Red and Blue and villains are supposed the be opposing them and need to stand out they wear the opposite color prime/secondary colors which are green, yellow, purple, and orange...Green is probably the one that best mixes with the others, gives reaction wanted, and has a larger range of dark-> light...Eh what? The Riddler is style incarnate.
Besides, has anyone noticed, that the bad guys quite often wear green?
I mean, whats up with that colour? Is there a joke or something that I didn“t get?
Also Orange is more or less thrown out as it is too close to red and purple with different printers can get close to blue so that leave green and yellow... and i don't know about you but i'd choose green more over yellow. -
The one on the right looks somewhat like the design from the DCU animated movie.

>.> But where is Recluse and his minions?

#1. The Lost are not technically homeless...well not all of them... many were just kidnapped and turned
#2. the more important question is who keeps smashing old style TVs over their heads and who finances that! -
Use search. It'sa great tool... or you could jsut scroll down the pages. It's a fairly recent topic.

Actually that's wrong... The license isn't about how the heroes deal with the villains, but rather that they can handle themselves. It's for the "heroes" safety, not the villains.
-
Quote:you do realize that teleporting people is a new development in CoH world... licensed hereos have been around for 40+ years so yeah... you're wrong. If someone went about killing all the criminals they'd be considered criminals themselves.
I have no problem with people RPing how they want. But really, for the PPD being cannonically one of the most NON-corrupt police forces ever, they wouldn't work with someone who was killing people (from that reality PoV people like to throw around)...and even in mainstream comics, those who go around just killing criminals are hunted by police. -
Quote:Supposedly...Last I knew, cannon wise you tagged them with a teleport tag and teleported them off the Zig.
There are 3 things that can happen in the lore.
I shoot you with tags...somehow... and they malfunction and you die
I shoot you with tags...somehow... and they teleport you to the Zig or a Hospital
I shoot you with tags...somehow... and they malfunction, but your teleporter doesn't and you get teleported to somewhere else.
Supposedly only the upper tiers have good teleporters though so it's best not to rely on them...so apparently I shoot you till your subdued and then somewhere in that if I'm nice and don't mess up I tag you which sends you off through some method to a hospital or the zig... Unfortunately the lower tier villains have to rely on me not being a screw up and nice to be saved >.> and me having and adequate supply of tags. Otherwise they're dead. -
Here's a quick try at Statesman... the head doesn't look right and the cape should be red but it's not >.> forgot to change that color. -
Quote:In CoH obviously... that's why it says NPCsIn CoH, or comics?
Something in the back of my brain stirs, and I remember a thread on Virtue's server section of the forums (I believe) that had a contest about that, for the CoH types. There was some great stuff, as I recall.
Might be an interesting idea here to get more folks involved who may have missed that, assuming you're talking about CoH. That lets everyone play, using the costume creator. -
Me neither, ussually, the reason that looks the way it does is because I was working off another design... I was just talking about how to get the iconic look the easiest.
I generally just see something or have an idea and work around that until it goes together with what I had in mind, sometimes discarding the original thing i wa working around... -
Ok here's the challenge... Let's see what we can come up with as a new designs for those heroes and villains we all love...
-
Depends on what you mean by Iconic, but one of the best ways to make something Iconic is to make it simple and using only things that are necessary. In other words, build up your design and then strip it back to those parts that if you tak them off it feels like something is missing...
This costume if you take of the shoulder pads or change them... it just doesn't look right.

Quote:Valkyries are not deities. They are Female Warrior Spirits... akin to nymphs in origin if I remember right... They are much closer to Angels or demigods. Both of which are not deities ^.^Okay, well, fine, it's technobabble. It's still a magic (Sorry, pseudoscience) weapon turning somebody into a Norse Deity/Superhero.
And nanotech is not magic. Neither is nanotech possibly turning one into what one might consider a super powered being. From tests ran and projections of the technology capabilities (it's not been human tested yet last i heard) nanocells would allow humans to jump higher, run faster, play harder, hold your breath longer, and a number of other things... and even if it weren't nanotech is still technology, not magic. -

I've been thinking... if the Rogue isles are their own nation and all the villains come from there then doesn't that make Paragon City the villains for having PPD and Longbow (official representatives and soldiers of the US government) in Rogue Isles... And not only that but they are holding the Villains in a prison which they shouldn't be doing... They should be deporting them.
So they are taking war actions with soldiers and holding prisoners of war seemingly illegally... -
Purchasing options should never "roll out" Any company that does it instantly lose credability to me. I don't mind other aspects rolling out, but every purchase option should be finalized before any purchase option is made known. This is from a business standpoint. You lose people when you roll out purchase options and you lose credability. These things shorten the life of your product in the overall and doing it shows that you're not looking at a long term game like you should be but a quick buck which always feels like a scam... regardless of how much money you possibly get from this you lose it in the long run and that's bad business...
-
On the one hand... It doesn't really matter and it's not something that is going to make me buy another box, maybe try to get the code another way if it works without a gamestop exclusive game code.
On the other hand. I really hate when companies don't give all the buying option information and I make a purchase without that info.
THat along with the fact i was majorly burne with STO's crap... If this happens with NCsoft I think a lot of people will lose faith in the CoH brand and make it all the more likely, no matter how much money has been dropped on the game, that they'll just move on when something new comes around. Why would anyone want to support a company that is just going to jerk them around? -
Quote:I can't find the pic, but that looks like it was highly referenced from an old and fairly popular Tomb Raider Lara Croft shot...The Razer Sphex Skin that comes with the box is apparently a hi-tech, thin mouse pad. And the one you get looks like this:
