  2. of course it's coming to blu-ray... Lucas has to get th money he donated to charity back obviously...

Also... Han shooting first and second will both be on the blu-ray and it will simply ask you which way you want it to go at that point or randomly decide with each viewing ^.^

    #03. LotDK -------------- 96+
    #04. SotB --------------- 95+
    #05. Catwoman v1 -------- 95+
    #06. Azrael ------------- 96+

    #20. Birds of Prey ------ 10+

Batman: The Return of Bruce Wayne
    Batman: The Dark Knight
    Batman, Inc.

It's an insane amount of reading and would take a month of reading for 10 hours nonstop each day to complete from where I am right now.

But right now i read roughly a year from each series a day in chronological order...some times 2 titles, sometimes 3...depends on how i'm feeling that day and how good the story is.

Personally I find the story so far that I've read of Azrael to be good and regret that I had to pause to go back to other titles. Nightwing v1 was ok, but totally skipable. LotDK and SotB are both hit or miss, I absolutely hated Watchtower but loved Sleeping from LotDK. Batman is fairly consistently good and Detective Comics is... not really my cup of tea, but a decent read even for those not completely into the style. The Batman Chronicles that I've read is pretty good so far...while Catwoman v1 is ok, but not the greatest...

Robin v4, Batgirl v1, v2, and v3, and Red Robin are awesome reads and you should read them ^.^

As far as the symbol... I had to get used to the not yellow disc version but after I was informed as to why its there in the first place (in story) and got used to the suit without...I prefer the without version.

If you have the whole process down Durakken you should try putting up a brief teaser/trailer and see if that grabs more people's interest.
    I considered that...

^.^ I'm still in the idea stage. Also I don't know all the emotes and such so me knowing what to do isn't the problem so much as what's available to use is.

If I do that I want to come up with a logo and two char designs as well as voice actor for one of those chars... before i make a trailor.

The hardest thing to deal with with Demo record files is positioning camera and character and non-controllable elements like MOBs and other players. You can eliminate most of that problem by using the AE. The areas you can't use AE you just pretty much have to just do either a quick turn on and turn off to get positions or go in and figure what to eliminate which isn't that hard... the only hard part about that is timing >.>

That's probably the most extensive thing... Once you have a good recorded version of that it is just a drag and drop the various elements into a video editing program.

The great thing about the demo record is that if you need another angle or to make something to be slightly longer or something like that you just just have to mod the file and re-record which is hundreds of times easier than regular animation or even getting actors.

Instead, in order to be committed to an institution involuntarily, someone must initiate a court proceeding for commitment. In a situation like the Joker's, as I implied in my last post, that would be the state, represented by a subdivision of the District Attorney's office that handles such cases exclusively. In other cases, it might be a relative who cannot care for the person the relative wants committed. (I believe the state will still present the case for commitment even if it's being urged by a private party, but I'm not certain. This is fairly far outside my area of expertise.) The person threatened with commitment will present the case against it.

I'm not too familiar with the legal standard applied in these cases, though I believe that you're right that it's whether the person is a danger to himself or others. The party seeking commitment will be the burdened party in a case like this.

By the way, for a fairly realistic example of what how a case like this might be litigated, see the original (1948) version of Miracle on 34th Street. Note how in that case, an Assitant D.A. is one arguing commitment, and the case is styled State v. Kringle.

You might be surprised. In many places, attorneys (and sometimes law students acting under attorney supervision) provide pro bono representation to individuals under threat of commitment as part of programs administered by the courts. In other places, I believe these cases are handled by public defender's offices. The person who may be committed can hire a private attorney if he has the funds available. And, of course, the person can always choose to represent himself.

Given that the Joker's pockets contain only "knives and lint," according to The Dark Knight, he probably receives pro bono representation through either a public defender's office or an attorney assigned by the court. Judging from what I know of regular, criminal cases involving infamous defendants, the court probably appoints his representative with extraordinary care, seeking someone with a great deal of expertise, either a very experienced litigator who has handled many commitment cases or a law professor specializing in the law of commitment (and probably criminal law as well).

Of course, the Joker isn't noted for sensible decisions, so he might chose to represent himself, which is likely to result in a pretty short hearing.
One of my relatives were committed by a medical practitioner a few years back without a trial... so either missed that one or different rules apply to medical practitioners... or someone did something illegal. But yeah not anyone can commit someone else, but a good number of people can make the attempt and be fairly successful.

Joker in most cannon is wealthy (or has a good sum of money) and it's only the Nolan verse that he isn't...so he could afford a lawyer...

Also apparently according to B:LotDK - Going Sane arc Joker had two outings after both of which he was thought dead be everyone involved and wasn't captured till a third outing after kidnapping a council woman and going on a killing spree in one of the safest neighborhoods of Gotham and then almost killing Batman, thinking he did, he had plastic surgery done and took up the name Joseph Kerr and lived a relatively normal life with amnesia of past events...

That is when his trial would have been held and any point after that would have been moor until he was officially released from Arkham which he never was.

As far as the Supers becoming essentially their own nation. The Justice League is sometimes referred to as a 5th estate and acts many times as a foreign power through out many cannons...so I'd after to say that there is some legal doctrine in place for "vigilantes"

But Gotham as far as I can tell seems to be unaffected by the rest the world and at one was considered a No Man's Land where in Gotham was pretty much sealed off and considered a separate government all together to a degree.

Also Gotham and the DC US should have fairly similar laws to reality's US and New York as that is what Gotham was based on.
  11. Durakken

    An idea...

    Main character idea...

An ordinary guy from 1 year in the future is shot in the head...instead of dying, he is transported 1 year into the past without knowing why or how, but decides he must figure out how to stop his death...

    Adventure ensues!
  12. Olantern, there is also a number of other problems... like Bruce owns most of Gotham in one way or another and one might be able to argue that he can use some sort of use of deadly weapons on trespassers if he really wants to... He could also legally keep the police from accessing most of the city which would be interesting too.

Yet another problem is that the DC heroes have effectively formed a separate government and as such one could argue that as a citizen of America Joker and the other various villains are actually patriots that are engaging in a war against a foreign power.... and it could also be seen that Batman has diplomatic immunity as an ambassador of some sort.

As far as psychology of the joker and others are concerned... They just have to be shown to be a danger to themselves or others due to some mental condition and they can be checked in by anyone and lose pretty much all rights, if I remember right. Of course this is based on various things. To get someone out legally of that situation they would petition the court and have several opinions presented... and i doubt any one is going to present that case for Joker

The same as we know that going to another planet, any planet with life, would likely be dangerous to us... same as intercontinental travel is or was dangerous back a hundred years ago or so because of germs.

There are a few times I remember but it wasn't because of them doing their job but rather when they were taking criminal actions or endangered civilians or some such thing like that. If I remember right, the first time one of the officers shows up Batman and Gordon are talking and then an officer says or does something and Batman tears into him.

So his argument is "between" 35 and 54 Batman had no kill code less stringent....

Maybe. He did carry a gun for a short time... which is handled in like one issue of LotDK which takes place in the first 3 years of Batman's career... In fact if you want to add all of those 20 years into cannon those years are all in the first 3 years of Batman...

But the argument wasn't that Batman had a less stringent kill policy in his first 3 years. It was that the no kill policy being more stringent was a recent development... not 55 years in the past at a minimum.

    An idea...

I don't see how it would be a "lot" of work... though that is relative.

Once I come up with the story I'm pretty sure I could write the script (24ish pages of script is easy). The filming of the scenes shouldn't be that hard as all that would be needed is find somewhere empty and have people do the actions, then just shift the map/cam options as needed within the demo record... have people do their voice acting... edit it together.

Most of the work is done for us and since we don't have to worry about lip animations syncing the audio up is easy.
  19. Durakken

    An idea...

I also should mention that who ever works on the storyboard/script should know what all the animations look like and what can be accomplished because if we can't produce it with the game models it can't be in there...

I was considering making a video version of one of the comics, but there was just too much that wasn't possible in there...

Anyone else want to do or see something like this?
  23. Batman had gone off the deep end a bit during the ambassador Joker issue and it was made out to look like if Batman had his way he'd have killed Joker right then and there. However, Superman stepped in and in the end he didn't kill Joker...

There have also been times when Robin did stop Bruce, if I remember correctly, because he was beating someone down and nearly killing them...seemingly losing it.

Meaning before that time his kill policy wasnt the same before that time. You wanna correct me fine, said prior to that era was when his extreme no kill policy started.(and his rogues actually started getting much higher body counts as they were mostly just crooks like the flash's rogues were before then.) He began the Dark Knight era during the late 80s which has for most part continued to the present.
I also meant to cover that...

That is highly unlikely when you consider that the CCA was in effect and had most of that banned from 1954 till the mid 80s so if anything the No killing rule was not only for batman but was pretty much for every character. Maybe you are talking about a very brief period between say 83 and 87 but that is hardly a blip on the radar of a 75 year old character.

But then that can't be right either because batman getting his darkness back is largely attributed to The Dark Knight Returns which was released in Feb-Jun of 86. Are you trying to make the case that between July and December Batman was that much more darker than he was in the beginning of 87? Yeah, I don't buy it.
