  1. Assault and Battery (thousands of charges) ... The funny thing is that what he does that you are considering here is completely legal.

Any number of anti-Terror charges. ... like?

Though he doesn't do it often, he has hit police officers in the past, so assaulting an officer ... Only one I can remember thus far and that was a set up.

Likely several different charges depending on the contents of the Utility Belt at time of apprehension, say explosives, most lockguns are restricted to LE officials, and etc. ... They'd have to prove he has those things which they can't because the belt is locked and booby trapped. Trying to prove he has it would result in no proof whatsoever and actually lose some evidence.

Endangerment of a minor, doesn't have to be wreckless, he just has to do it... This can be massively argued as putting an incompetent person in a car is endangerment.

The Batmobile probably isn't street legal.... indeed.

Almost everything Batman does in pursuit of his mission is illegal... But it's not, there are only a few things he isn't legally allowed to do, but most of it is perfectly legal. The whole taking down criminals thing is not Vigilantism. To be vigilantism you have to use deadly force and such.

    Prove he's done it ^.^

That's the thing, he could be held for breaking and entering, but there is no proof that he has done it. Likewise there is no proof that he has "tortured" people. There is only proof that he has detained people, which is perfectly legal to do.
  3. Asuming Batman is caught, is there anything that the police could charge him with that would get him sent to jail, and the charge stick?

After thinking for a while I don't think there is.

Vigilantism... He's not a Vigilante in the proper definition of the word.

Breaking and Entering... There's no evidence beyond testimony.

Wreckless endangerment of a minor... Nope. Batman isn't wreckless and that is easily provable.

Concealment of deadly weapons... He doesn't carry anything more dangerous than you or I can carry. The deadliest thing he carries is a Batarang which doubles as a knife. That's not considered a concealed deadly weapon.

impeding justice or whatever it's called... This about the only one I can see holding as they could claim that he impedes justice by removing evidence from crime scenes, but every time he is seen doing this it is almost always after CSI is done and/or minor stuff that they wouldn't pick up on or use.

It seems to me that if he went to trial he could only be heavily fined (mainly for the car) and nothing else.
  4. Wait, what happened to the research that says the media (movies and such) are turning guys into effeminate pansies and gays... Are you trying to tell me Batman is gay?

    Still pretty nice regardless...
Actually it's the opposite. It would probably weigh less if it were real. The real thing doesn't need much structural support because of gravity and force shields so it would likely weigh less than a car.
  6. You have to take into account what they use and how they use it...

Peter Parker for example would likely become a much weaker version of himself. I'm sure he has the web fluid formula down somewhere (he gain the knowledge of how to make it from the bite) His body, regardless of losing the powers would still be in pique condition and have a lot of it's muscle memory retained. The problem with him is that he'd likely hurt himself in his first outing by pulling something when he tries to bend too far. He also might dislocate something when he tries to swing because that takes a lot of strength to do what he does how he does it. That however can be fixed with tech. So his main problem is really his stretching and over reliance on spider sense...with those two creating such a problem he'd likely die in his first outing.

Hal, and most of the GLs have gone through military training, both earthly and Oan. They would just switch from relying on Light power to relying on a suit.

The X-men... it depends on which one we are talking about. The regenners are likely to die or be massively injured no matter how good they are due to their reliance on that power. The psychics too as their awareness would throw them. "i can't hear anyone approaching from behind therefor there is noone behind me" It's something that Batman does to psychics some times, quieting his thoughts. However, most of the X-men don't have this over reliance on that type stuff so what they'd end up doing is just start using more practical means, like guns and sonic blasters and such... However... most of them are doing it for self preservation in the first place as mutants...if they aren't mutants any more their reason for doing it is gone and they probably wouldn't continue.

    A 3D Option?

There are several solutions and they are all fairly easy to do...

Realistically all they'd have to do is add a second camera to the code and and a layered or dual screen settings thing... it just doesn't seem worth it to me to do at the moment.

Lets try to stay away from the time aspect as it's a one time thing and not recurrent ^.^

    So basically...

We have a guy trying to prevent his own death, acting as a vigilante (as opposed to a registered hero), and apparently fighting against some corp for the first season.
We have a heroin that somehow gets involved with this guy... Doesn't like what he's doing but doesn't or can't stop him.
We also have someone who's goal it is to set this all into motion that we don't know.

From there is a few things that can/will logically happen...

Eventually the main char and female heroin team up or are view each other as arch enemies eventually, but are still pretty much on friendly terms...pretty much a Batman/Catwoman relationship.

The guy behind it all is either doing it for a greater good and eventually will reveal themselves and tell him what that is. Or they will reveal themselves to be doing for personal gain or a distraction to some other event that the main char prevents such as the female heroin is supposed to become some major hero and now she's not cuz of their interaction or perhaps this interaction caused the heroin to become the major hero rather than preventing her...

Basically from the fact that there is someone else manipulating things there is a guarantee that that force is trying to cause them to get stronger or weaker to confront and win/lose against some event that will happen in the near future.
  13. The only thing that really matter is business is that you are making more than 5% profit on your money and couldn't possibly put that somewhere else that would make more money and that's the catch with MMOs, once they are developed they are pretty much money machines and there is literally almost nothing that can make for a better investment or guarantee the same turn around on the investment.

how can we figure out roughly how much they are making?

Let's say a server costs roughly $10,000 per month...
    There are 12-15 servers.

That's 150,000 a month to run the servers... 1.8 mil at yearly cost.

So if the game ever goes below that amount the servers will likely start merging and such >.> but long before that, the dev team will be cut as a previous calc puts that cost at a minimum of 4.8 million.

This means that CoH roughly costs $6.6 million a year to run as it is now.
So how much do they need to make for CoH to not be considered a good investment at this cost?

    $330,000

That means as long as the revenue is over $7m per year we aren't going to see much change as far as we are concerned as players.

Also not to mention. A lot of that is considered a lost leader. Consider that the current cost of 4.8m is up from around 900k and if Paragon Studios really needed to I think the dev team would get shredded more before the servers are changed and as such the minimum revenue we before change is something like...

    $2,835,000 a year.

So if you see that number in the per year value then you might need to start worrying, but until then you just sound like an idiot.

Yeah I like it too. Sucks that it would give the wrong impression... especially after the first season if there is a second ^.^

Oh and the reason for the CoH thing... somebody has to advertise it ^.^ lol
  15. Durakken

    An idea...

    @CR

The problem I see with that is exactly what would be good about it...The guy isn't rewound, but rather two copies of him exist. The him that led up to his murder and the him that was sent back in time. Mender time travel is different as it pretty much sends the consciousness back to it's body in the past (if it exists or was after the point you became a hero) while this is taking the body and consciousness and sending it back to that time period together.

Of course this becomes an obvious paradox, if he doesn't get shot he doesn't go back in time and thus doesn't try to save himself so he can't stop himself from being shot so he is shot and can but then can't...

So while it's sound good and all it would give the wrong impression of what's happening as it seems it already has ^.^
  16. 3D will be the norm sooner or later... I plan on getting pixel lenses or whatever they are called as soon as they are affordable. With those types of things, there is no reason for TVs, monitors to do 3D...let alone exist

Consider that the human eye can only process 300dpi and eyes are less than 1 inch... we have the tech for infinite resolution and 3D at fairly cheap prices... after all the only thing that will cost is the surgery and that's getting cheaper and cheaper.

Graphically speaking a graphics card today... the power is well... pretty worthless to us in the near future since we won't need all that much. My PC's resolution is something like 68dpi and i use a Radeon HD5770 so... we're talking about roughly two 5x5 inch screens that totally takes up your field of vision. That's pretty much 1/2 the power I'm using right now and my screen is probably 1/2 the power my card can produce which is probably a fair bit less powerful that the top of the line cards out there and a long way from a 4 card display.

I doubt CoH will ever have 3D but it would be really easy to make it 3D... I could probably literally make a 3D CoH video using the dual display technique ^.^ it's not that hard...
  17. Is that total revenue as in what's coming in or is that just profit?

    That's a huge difference...

    80 employees with minimum of 60k/year = 4.8 mil...
assuming server costs make it an even 5mil

As long as they are making above 250k in profit they are good.

Considering that... they are making roughly 5mil a year on it and that's not all that bad... of course if it's net or gross makes a 5mil difference still... I'd like to think they were making 10m profit but that's unlikely unfortunately.

Yes... What I'm thinking is... 13 standard length half hour shows for this...

episode 1: Guy gets shot and sent back in time. Has the idea to rob his own place which he has tech from work there that he remembers getting stolen around that time and doing so before the robber get's there... Obviously the robber is him.

Episode 2: Guy needs to get in shape and work on the gear, but ultimately finds he needs something from his previous work to make it all happen and somewhere during this is a to be continued as a hero appears...

episode 3: Female hero is confused as the guy seems to not be working for that company and isn't showing up on the hero mediport tracking system so they fight, but end up having to cover each others backs as they escape.

That's about as far as I can think up at the moment ^.^ also that's probably an excellent point to decide whether to continue or not.

    Quote:
You could go with something simple like "Rewound." Or give an antagonist as the cause and name it after it/him/her "Time Eater" or "One year gone?" I don't see any reason to use "City of Heroes" in the title. One could use "Title: A City of Heroes Tale" or something to that effect as well, if you insist on including CoH in the name. Maybe "Chronoskip"? "Death Rewind." I think I am out of ideas to brainstorm at the moment.
I'm leaning more towards having the first season focus on this character and the female hero and expanding from there. And considering the time travel aspect there were already ideas for what happened (like maybe it is all a nemesis plot), especially considering the ending twist i have in mind. One that might be all to obvious at the moment ^.^

I think having the go one year back thing over and over would be lame so only want to do it once either way it goes ^.^

    As far as the trailor...

Trying to come up with a video sequence in my head for this dialogue or something similar to it -
"They say to live in this city you must not be in your right state of mind, that the villains aren't the only crazies. Villains, heroes, citizens, to the outside world we're all a bunch of psychos. I don't think that's true, but then, it only took a bullet to the brain for me to put on a mask and mete out my own brand of justice, so who am I to judge? I'm dead afterall."

Speaking it takes up takes about 30 seconds. Obviously breaking it up, adding some scenes, and the logo it will easily fill something like a minute and a half...

Right now I'm trying to catch up on Batman and Robin (alas no where I look has back issues, specifically 9, 10, and 12), Return of Bruce Wayne, and then Batman Beyond (which sadly is a temporary deal). Basically, I just want to keep up to date with the main Batman story line. It sounds like my near future is going to consist of at least B&R, the end of RoBW, TDK, and then Batman Inc.

I guess I'm just trying to figure out if I should also be reading Streets of Gotham, Batman, and Detective Comics among others as well, (and by not reading them, I'll miss something important) or if I'm good at my current position.

    Hope that makes sense.
If you like Bruce you should read the last 12 issues of Robin that leads into Red Robin and then read Red Robin, because Tim has pretty much taken over the role of Bruce in just about every way.

I can't really comment on anything up to date other than Red Robin and Batgirl, but from what I know of story Red Robin's first several issues are more important to the overall story arc and certainly Tim's hitlist has a lot more impact on Gotham than Dick and Damian doing their thing.

Streets of Gotham are less likely to hold anything story wise
Detective Comics focuses more on detective work than overall story so I doubt that has much in it right now.
Batman is probably Dick lamenting about what he's doing more so than him actually doing anything like always.

So I'd say you'd probably want to read Red Robin, Return of Bruce Wayne, and Batman, Inc. if Batman, Inc is supposed to focus on Bruce...

    As far as...
"Batman and Robin (alas no where I look has back issues, specifically 9, 10, and 12)"

It's one of the ways that some companies try to tell you to promote yourself to build yourself as a brand and she is definitely trying to build herself as a brand, from the Playboy thing, the movie roles, the tv role she supposedly has, and the Daily show thing... also could do seasonal changes in characters or continue on with one character (or group of character) which would change what the title would be...

    Maybe something like...

City of Heroes - Everyday Heroes if going to go with different chars...

    or maybe something like

City of Heroes - Pathos (though that sounds better for an arc >.>)

maybe CoH - City Life (but then again that sounds better as an arc too ^.^)
