I think at this point it's somewhat a matter of should the DCU's timeline stick and be allowed to advance pretty much in real time... I think it should, because if it doesn't several characters will get lost.
The time reset before 1986 is ok because before the modern age DC was pretty much one off stories that took place in the same universe. Now, if time resets, all development for Dick, Tim, Jason, Barabara, Damian, Stephanie, Cassandra, Helena, Bruce, Clark, Kara, Dinah, and most other chars will be lost almost indefinitely and while the most well known characters will survive all the derivatives have a slim chance of returning...and if they do, by the time they do their stories will be radically different, so much so that there is no point in reseting time to begin with...
This is why I think it would be wiser to just let the world advance in real time. This makes sense since a lot of people already accept the idea of Batman Beyond which if you tie in Batman, inc. this makes sense which various futures shown where Damian takes over which covers the lull between 2030 to 2050 when Terry takes over... This would allow for a transition of sorts. -
Is it just me or is the turn over of these films getting faster and faster?
I mean Under the Red Hood still hasn't gotten lost yet and usually the last one gets lost and found in between each release... -
The problem with it isn't the concept... it's that it doesn't work with the characters.
Dick doesn't want to be Batman. Bruce doesn't want Dick to be Batman. He has only asked him to take over the one time because he was the best choice at the time. Bruce said NOT to be Batman in his message to Dick and he told Tim long ago that he'd like Tim to take over one day as Batman.
So it doesn't make sense for any of the characters involved to have Dick remain Batman and it doesn't make sense to toss out Nightwing.
On the other side it doesn't make sense even from a logistics point of view and Batman would know that. There are very few people that can match Bruce on one skill, let alone all, and to train a Batman takes like 10 years of specific training and that can sometimes fail. The only option for him is to get other known heroes to be Batmen, but then that destroys their comics and they have their own way of doing things so it lessens the overall effect of what Batman stands for.
Also it's lame as it's a running joke that is used that Batman CAN'T be one person because of his coverage and abilities and Robin is thought to have switched a lot rather than only a few time for various reasons.
The entire thing just doesn't make any sense in continuity nor as a story thing as it makes a joke of the entire series. -
Are these people trying to mess up characters or something?
Dick's whole thing was "LET ME GET OUT OF THE SHADOW OF BRUCE"
Dick becoming Batman permanently goes against everything the characters would do and not to mention it's just plain stupid.
This is 4 Liefelds on the JoeQ scale of stupidity. -
Quote:>.> It's actually one of the most misused fallacies as it is not just attacking the person instead of the position. It's only a fallacy if you are using it to support the claim that someone shouldn't listen to this person in place of an argument... It's basically the inverse of the argument from authority fallacy.SMBC Theater is here to present a theatrical presentation on the dangers of Ad hominems.
Enjoy! (Warning NSFW: Mild language and violence)
If for example I say "You're an idiot if you think that x is the case, because y" That is not a fallacy. If on the other hand I say "You're an idiot." and make no argument that is pertinent to the discussion then you have a fallacy. -
Does Gotham City deserved to be terrorized by Poison Ivy after NML?
I think it does.
During No Man's Land Poison Ivy took over the park and left everyone else alone, shelters 16 orphaned children and when the fresh food was running out she became Gotham's only source first through enslavement by Clayface and then in an understanding with Batman to peacefully do what she could for everyone.
Skip ahead 1 year later and New Gotham is built and the Mayor threatens (and apparently does) uses a plant killing agent threatening to do it while the kids and Ivy were still inside and not one person Protested. Of the thousands perhaps millions of lives she saved in that city, not one person came to her defense in protest.
The fact that she sheltered the children and even built houses for them as shown in the issue and the fact that she took in the children and protected them, even from her self and eventually even came out of the park due to not wanting those children to die, no to save her self shows just how much of a humanitarian she is... and really shows that there is a solution that she would be happy with that would be helpful to the world, but is never given that opportunity.
Granted, she had also killed, but the more one thinks about it she was either not in her right mind and/or looking out for the ecosystem of Gotham rather than just the people. -
ok but it still is badly left because we aren't told what happens. Does Luthor own all that land now? Did Lucious turn him in? Did Luthor actually make the claim? That all should have been answered in that arc.

Quote:why not do something simple like a dirty t-shirt and jeans? Maybe a visor so the dirt doesn't get in his eyes. He's a kid he wouldn't be able to afford much anyways so he'd probably just get what's necessary >.> could even call him something like Rock Pete.I am working on creating 2 new dominators... and I am completely at ends trying to make their costumes. The idea is to have an Earth/Earth Dominator, as a young young teen boy (13 or 14 years old). Then to have a Fire/Thorn dom, as a late teens/early 20's girl.
I haven't gotten to write the entire story between the 2 of them, because I can't seem to get their costumes.
So I come to you of the Screenshots & Fan Creations forum ( I miss the old format of calling this section the Art Forums...) for help! So please help me get past this costume design block and create 2 new very cool dominators!
No idea for the fire/thorn girl -
So I just got through this as of last night... and started on to the New Gotham stuff.
I have to say the entire 2-3 years worth of issues were awesome with great stories...
But the ending and New Gotham is thus far trash. This is mainly because the story with Luthor is more or less just thrown out and instead of showing continuing construction they just said "and now we're done everything is back to normal"
They go from a city in tatters with less than a million inhabitants...to Every thing is normal now with 14million people in the city.
The writer, at least in the Batman title, Larry Hama, completely dropped the ball and it's annoying that such a great series of issues is capped off so badly with so much lost potential. -

Quote:don't you have me on ignore? There are tons of words for hate, both the noun AND the verb version:
verb:
despise
loathe
detest
abhor
noun:
noun versions of most of the above words
odium
revulsion
disgust (towards a person)
And I'm sure there's many more when you get into slang or allow multi-word phrases in.
And think some of you don't like my whimsy! To Arkham with you! -
What do these words mean to you when you hear/see them in the blank in this sentence "I blank you."

Interesting to me... there are less words for hate ^.^ -
Quote:Watch the blu-ray extras. The creator says he wants to do more 3 volumes. And quite frankly you can't really have a story called Kick *** after the name of the main char... and not have him in 3/4 of the story. That means 4 movies... 3 sequels. No, a Sequel hasn't been announced. However, those of us who've seen Kick-*** know one is eventually. The way they ended Kick-*** made one thing very clear. *spoiler*Red-Mist is gonna become the Kick-*** Unverse's first 'super' villain*spoiler*.
With that said, what do you guys believe will happen in the Sequel? Because those of us who've seen the movie know that *spoiler*Kick-*** stopped being a superher*spoiler*. Who do you think will be returning? Who do you believe will be the main focus of the story? Am I the only one who thinks Hit-Girl might have a crush on Kick-***?
So, share your opinions.
EDIT: Bloody Heck...they blocked the word ***...even if used in the title of a legitimate move, Kick-***. D:< -
Quote:If your interested... Original title...My favorite song title is from a song I've never listened to. It's "Our Lawyer Made Us Change the Name of This Song so We Wouldn't Get Sued" by Fall Out Boy.
"My Name Is David Ruffin And These Are The Temptations"

It's ok...I guess. Mostly repeated **** as most of their work. -
I would like to be able to play on a secondary screen in full screen mode...
right now there are very few games that allow this apparently, but i'd find it very useful... -
Quote:Of course they left something out of War of the Worlds... Viruses that they were carrying that they were immune to would cause just as much damage to us as any of our germs would do to them...Yeah, this is the one big one people tend to forget, I think. If you were to go to a planet where the native microorganisms considered your body tasty but weren't bothered by your immune system and natural defenses, there'd be nothing stopping you from just sort of decomposing.
Of course, this is assuming it's carbon-based or otherwise cares about the chemicals in our body. If silicon-based life were to visit Earth, I can't imagine much would happen to it. Though I guess plants might like to grow on them.
Theoretically, any germ that could attack us we could develop a vaccine the same way we do it currently and the ability to play with genes like we're beginning to do would be extremely useful. It would more or less be trial and error. Have supply of rats, send a number of them down. Any that survive breed... eventually you get a vaccine. If none survive just take a few sample from indigenous life, check out their code, play with their genetics a bit and then splice into a test case of rats and test again. If you get a near 100% success start vaccinating and splicing colonists... -
Quote:I'm not saying that they aren't already "green"er than america or whatever. I'm saying that it's stupid to keep building on old technology to do something when you have an opportunity to build a whole new system that would be that much more better.Did you know that, by some accounts, China is posed to surpass the US, Japan and Europe as an implementor of green technology? This is just in terms of sheer size but I think it's something we need to pay attention to. Whatever other faults China may have, I have the impression that their leaders realize there is simply no possible way for them to raise their standard of living without being green automatically. All other paths are just too costly or limited..

JoeQ scale of stupidity
OMiT = 10 Liefelds
Pockets are cool = 1 Liefeld -
You know, with the current technology we have, all it would take is a mad scientist to make a robocop. I mean we are literally right there and it's more a matter of ethic that is holding us back than it is the possibility that we could figure it out in save 5 years.
There are a number of things like that... It's not ethical to experiment that fast so we don't, because if we did we might stumble onto something like the grey goo apocalypse and most of us don't want that, but it if we were to remove that little ethics thing someone who really wanted to go explore the stars today could, albeit really slowly and in isolation, and not to mention they'll likely reach their first star long after we as a civ do if we are determined to do it... but it's there in our grasps if we're psychotic enough to do so ^.^
Also the first digitized person will be a very dangerous gamble for both our civilization and the person in question. Given the ability to learn and retain faqs along with human creativity the first digitized brain needs to be someone of character simply to compensate for all possible things that could go wrong that we could control, because that person could easily take over the world ^.^ -

China's advancement right now is stupid. It would be better if they tried something new and better than cars since their infrastructure isn't as there as America's is.
Now that we have readily available electricity and various electronics it makes more sense to create a public tube transportation system underground that is computer controlled. Doing so would allow for energy conservation, help with land problems, and make transportation quicker which allows for more productivity. -
I wish to introduce a new scale for measuring the stupidity factor of an issue, arc, overall comic, or character...
The JoeQ scale. Measured in Liefelds... Yes that should work...
