I mean, it wasw basically a teen angst movie about getting the girl. Woop de doo. Said girl also could barely act.

I mean, sorry, but you do not kill of Jazz, one of the oldest TF characters, and not even have a decent camera angle. Theres about a million different ways that scene could have been shot and been a crapton better.
    There was a Youtube vid of filming on set for TF3. It started, and instantly it was all the military peeps running, opening fire, hunkering down behind burning cars. Bay was running around in the middle with a steady cam with this insane grin pasted on his face. I didnt even have to comment, someone had seemingly read my mind on what he was thinking;
"YeahYEAH woo more'splosions! Dakka! Boom! Yeah, more boom, moreboom, BOOM! BAM! Zow, pow, bang! Yeah, wooo! Yeah, I'm good at this!"

It's....it's like watching Warpath from G1's mental process. On a multi million dollar film set. It's just...argh.
I'd kill for the chance to make a Transformers Movie. And it'd be a metric crapton better than Bayformers...

    /fan rage
you should go watch Spoony's review with his brother... they count something like 20 worthless characters largely used for the laughs...
  2. I don't know all the stuff that is coming out... so i can't comment. But if Superboy and Red Robin are coming out...that's at least something even though I won't be reading Superboy for a while... hopefully the other 10 titles don't all come out the same week >.>
  3. Kekaishi is another good manga... it's about a kid that it is the protector of some barrier or what not against monsters that attack it...just so happen the barrier is over his school ^.^

B-Reaction, An incomplete scanned story as far as I can find that is a comedy fighting manga.... basically a kid likes to get into fights is the son of martial artists or something... He looks up to some fighters... and the day before school starts he gets into a fight with a woman that pretty much destroys him... the next day she turns up as his teacher...

and yes I have read quite a number of manga but i can't remember them all and there are a number of manga i've dropped due to slowness of release, or there hasn't been release in forever, but what is released I would say is good, just not finished or being released any more. There are also a number of manga that while i like them I can't remember their names due to it being so long since i read them or its just a difficult name to remember... which is why you don't see many japanese named mangas from all the ones I've listed...I go off looking at lists of new releases and recall to remember to read them ^.^
  4. While I don't view it as immoral or moral... the reason I asked about this is to get moral views that I might not of thought of for this in case I ever decide to cover that aspect...

why not say that new bodies have some intrinsic energy which creates a soul and a reincarnated soul essentially feeds on that lifeforce. That rather makes it more of a concept for dispute because it moves it from "spaying your dog" to more of an "aborting a fetus" analogy.
This in my opinion is really quite close to abortion to a degree and I didn't make that analogy because that can go bad...

And the whole intrinsic energy is what i said in the first place just with different words... perhaps i didn't make myself clear.
  5. No, actually, it's not. The article clearly states that the paper was peer reviewed and published. It's that several scientists don't think it should have been and when they are told to go do science, they are all like "well you made a media announcement so we can try to get some fame too!"

This media nonsense isn't at all what should be happening. What should be happening is those guys go and do the experiments without the "errors" they are claiming they made and then go "look this is what you said you did which caused this result you got, but when we did this it shows that your testing method is what caused the results to come up like so and not what it actually is"

That is all they need to do, but so far they are refusing to do so. The detractors may be right, but they are going about this nonsense the wrong way... and it is mainly a backlash because NASA didn't haul out ET and a lot of people are complete idiots when it comes to language.

Also, while NASA may have jumped the gun, I think it's ok for NASA to do from time to time because they get their funding from the government and as such need to announce something that might be important to the general public every now and then.
  6. So the paper that shows how they found the microbe, not bug like these idiots keep saying, was peer reviewed and published and they held the conference... and now a bunch of scientists are saying there is something wrong and instead of testing it out they are just complaining like idiots...
  7. I am saying that she was lucky to get where she was, and more than likely her trying to go further will result in her being shown she's not talented which means she is going to end in a worse position than where she was. If I was jealous I would be hoping for her to fail, not hoping that she would succeed, but realistically saying she's going to likely fail.

The problem is that it really isn't... The best that is going to happen is the show lasts a little while. She's not talented enough or hot enough to get very far and really she gave up a cushy job for more than likely a soon canceled show and soon kicked off of show... So while she is "technically" in a better position she really isn't because of the prospect coming from it.

The first twelve or so issues of his run nearly always have Clark being somewhere where he gets five o'clock shadow or something so he can look more 'manly'. And yeah, the whole stuff with Diana is just overblown hype...I should point out that Byrne is directly responsible for a particularly notorious issue of Adventure Comics where he's teamed up with Big Barda and they are mind-controlled by an Apokolips character called Sleeze, who basically gets them to make porn....

Make of that what you will.

    S.
read it...it's a two issue story, and Superman was too pure to make the porn...Barda however apparently wasn't pure enough to resist to make a porn before that though.

And the Diana thing he had a crush on her...and then they went on a date and then he didn't want to date her because she viewed him as god like, even though she herself technically would have to be considered a goddess and eventually becomes one >.> weird.

Also... I'm finding that the timeline is all weird for Superman from what I'm reading...because they sorta rebooted him and all the villains and such, but that was 10 years ago that his history begins but he's seemingly just now meeting everyone in his career even they all played roles in the crisis... And also Wonder Woman just made her first appearance so apparently WW and metallo, and clark having knowledge of his kryptonian roots...and the discovery of kryptonite all happened in year 10/11 according to what im reading... v.v

An more powerful soul would have have easier time healing, communicating with the dead, could use some forms of magic, can heal others... it also allows souls to manifest at will in the physical world more easily, but its dangerous as obviously, a soul that wants to be more powerful will be drawn to reincarnated babies.

So the difference between an old soul and a new is much like the difference in ghost stories between, say, an orb be caught on camera, and the events of paranormal activity (the movie) or the exorcist. One is just a "hey what's that?" and the other is a "oh **** we gonna die" thing.
  11. I like the idea of soul "leavings" become the new souls. I'm not really concerned with conservation of energy with this ^.^

Here's the thing... a god is a soul and a body... and even if the body is destroyed the soul can reform the body for a god.... Same with some other creatures in this universe. Not all souls can do this and thus they must either steal soul power from others, reincarnate due to degradation, or simply poof out of existence.

So unless a person steals soul power or somehow gains soul power through other means, they'd have to eventually reincarnate or vanish. Obviously the growth in other ways can be good or bad and that can be more easily have an individual grey area...

Reincarnation however would be more like a tribal/clan/culture thing that of that culture would take part in. Is having a reincarnated soul for a child viewed as an honor, or is it seen as that soul "killed" the possible child in greed for life? Then there are views on reincarnating of evil people and how cultures would react to them... kill the child? view them as another chance like in buddhism?

On the other hand, if by "reincarnate" you mean a form of possession, then it's a moral gray area if they aren't displacing an existing "baby soul." For the story's sake, I'd have powerful souls displacing -- essentially killing -- baby souls.
There is not a limited amount of bodies.

The reason for the need for the body to create a soul when there is none present is to solve a problem of with an expanding civilization the more people that are alive the more souls that are needed...for those people, unless all the people just don't have souls.

I've not thought "when" the body starts to create a new soul, but keeping closer to the real world i would say that i'd set it to something like before a certain age the soul power doesn't have enough to form a sentience... So say a 1 year old has a soul being formed, but not one that is sentient...

Obviously at some point another soul could just steal the soul power in a person or kill them or whatever, but I'm more talking about a point where the soul hasn't started to form, as I'd say that probably only a fully formed baby could start forming a soul...so if a soul reincarnates into a body, before the point where the soul starts to generate it's own soul is what we are talking about, but if the other soul did not inhabit the body a soul would have formed.

I wouldn't consider it a "possession" because a possession implies a soul being pushed out or subdued... in the case we're talking about the soul has not yet begun to form.
  13. I'm world building and I need opinions about a morality of a subject from other views... this subject is a matter that deals with religious matters, but this is not a religious topic, so please don't conflate the two. This has nothing to do with any doctrine of any religion in the real world...

    So, the idea is thus...

    Everything degenerates, including souls.
A Soul or soul power is generated from physical bodies. The longer a soul is in the a body the stronger it can get.
A powerful enough soul can generate a physical body via matter manipulation.

Basically this is an explanation of why, if souls can manipulate matter why don't they create their own bodies and if the soul is more powerful in the pure spiritual form why don't they just stay dead... ie what's important about life in a world where the afterlife is known to be true.

So here's the thing I need opinions on...
What is the morality stance on reincarnation?

If a soul does not reincarnate it will eventually decay and vanish which means it needs to get into a new body.

But bodies without souls, create their own...

This means that someone who reincarnates could be seen as preventing the creation of and thus killing a new soul.

So is reincarnating in this system considered immoral or not? And what are your arguments for or against?
  14. I bet you she'll not be on the top 100 hottest women of the world this year ^.^ and that'll be proof enough since the last 2 years or so she's gone up the ladder.
  15. Superman v2 and Adventure of Superman both started in January 1987.

Also I wasn't aware of how much Clark was confused about his love life... He thought he loved Diana, while pretty much Dating cat, while Trying to get a date with lois and being in love with her while having Lana love him and wished things turned out differently...
  16. Being on 1 hour a day to and moving on to a likely to fail half-hour tv show once a week and an unfunny person on one of the funniest comedy shows... yeah... she's fell off the edge of the world...or teetering.
  17. As of Monday Olivia Munn, the Cohost of AOTS, has been replaced by Alison Baily as a permanent cohost.

So Olivia Munn, officially fell off the edge of the world finally apparently...
  18. Oh yeah...if you haven't read it/seen it...

Go read BECK, it's a completely manga about a band, particularly about a guy who is a loser pretty much that learns to play the guitar, write music, and sing... and they become legends ^.^
  19. you know i keep on forgetting Ranma 1/2... i thought it was only an anime...not a manga? but if it's both which is better and how much do they diverge?
  20. 7 Seeds is another good manga. It is a story about people who were secretly signed up for... pretty much apocalypse insurance... basically they were signed up without them knowing (i think, I'm not 100% on that any more). Different people and groups of people find themselves waking up in a bunker from cryo sleep... when they leave the bunker they find that they are surrounded by an alien landscape and after some time, it's discovered that it something like 10,000+ years in the future and some cataclysm apparently happened on Earth and they were saved and set into pods so as to defrost when earth had returned to hospitable. Save for the fact that it's a long time in between scans/next issue, it's a great story...however unless you plan on keeping a record of what's happened to some degree you get lost due to the story covering several groups and what happens to who and why and who is who is kinda confusing after a while if you have to wait for the next issue... that's the only reason I haven't read it lately...once I caught up and then waited for the next issue I couldn't remember or care about the story of each person any more.... but there is only 50-ish issues so not that much of a problem if you like it.

Cage of Eden, This is a great story. Returning from a school field trip a plane crashes. When they look outside, they find an unfamilar world and as they venture from the crash they start to find creatures that have been extinct on earth for millions of years. Again this one is hard to keep up with, but if you are willing to I'd suggest it to anyone. It's very much in the same vein as Lord of the Flies, so if you like that type of setting, read it.

There's this awesome one I can't remember that I read a few years back that I lost track of because it ran out of issues. Wish I could find it. Basically, there is some sort of accident in a subway, He's locked in, everyone is dead, and if he doesn't try to get out so will he. As he gets out of the train and makes his way to the surface he finds some people (good and bad) and then when he reaches the surface he is confronted with a desert and no knowledge of what happened. If any of you know what this is called please let me know.
  21. The Sacred Blacksmith, A female knight who's not very good apparently has a problem and seeks out the aid of a black smith. He makes katanas through some magic or something and he some how special...and there are swords that turn into people... yeah there isn't much plot so far >.>

The Legend Of Maian, Kid that is the descendant of a legendary knight that brought peace to the world by sealing the most powerful mage in the world, but is the blacksheep of the family due to sucking as swordsman apparently, accidentally releases the mage and is bound to her... They quickly pulled into a plot and they are sent on a mission to save the world ^.^

Fairy Tail, A girl mage joins a mage guild called Fairy Tail and adventures occur.

+C Sword and Cornett, Princes discover a plot that brain washes the royal line. One escapes to have his beliefs challenged by seeing the world while stuff happens back at the royal manor and such...

Skip Beat, A girl moves away from her home because she believes that she will be marrying the guy she goes with who becomes famous. Once she finds she has been lied to her personality changes into hatred and gloom and declares that she will destroy the guy by way of becoming a bigger star than he so as to crush his dreams of being the best...

Gunmm (Battle Angel), girl wakes up in a science lab after she has died. sHe's a merc and finds the world a whole different place... don't know much else. It's an awesome read as far as i have gotten into it, but i'm not far into it.

Sankarea, guy obsessed with death experiments on bring back a cat from the dead. Popular girls wanders into where he is experimenting. They hit it off. Her father is obsessive and so when he comes after her she kills herself believing that the guy has figured out the zombie potion...he has, but there's a problem with it... now they must figure out how to bring her fully back from the dead ^.^
  22. if you've read some of Gantz you should know that in the future issues that the rules of "the game" start to fall away and finally collapse at some point...at which point it is called third and final phase of the story where parts of the history of the gantz ball is revealed, and an assumption of why the ball exists, but the ultimate why has not been answered just yet... i assume that it will be answered by the end of the story... Phase 3 left me a little annoyed though at first because it's a long way to go to for a classic outer limits twist.

Liar Game seems to be on hiatus or something at the moment and the finish of the current round has not yet been scanlated or they think they finished it but didn't...or they count the finish as before the explanation or something...

HSDK is a good comedy/fighter/romance with a good amount of Fan Service as is Hitman Reborn, save for without the fan service aspect. I would suggest both series to anyone even though there are low points and at least Reborn is a bit repetitive, but is still a good series.

    As far as more series...

Veritas, It's a series about a punk that runs across a master martial artists that ends up training him over a period of time... Then one day a group of people who know the martial artists turn up and more or less force him to join a school for martial artists.

Baby Steps, A guy who's known to take perfect notes in class and uses it to get get straight As... and people borrow his notes... one day a girl asks to borrow his notes, something ends up happening and he finds out he has really good eyes and thats awesome for Tennis.

Kampfer, guy gets a mysterious stuffed animal that comes to life and a bracelet appears on his wrist... and when he is around other people who have these bracelets he turns into a girl and he must fight in mortal combat against some of these others...hilarity and problems ensue.

Kurohime, this a bit weird to describe as the story starts on a guy that is a quick fire gunner...but the real main character is kurohime, who is the most powerful gun mage ever and hooks up with the other character who has always looked up to her... the story is badass and the so far the first part is more of the set up for awesome battles to occur.

Yureka, a boy logs into the world to find that an NPC has somehow been attached to his character. What's happening in the world and why this NPC got linked to him is a mystery.

1/2 Prince, an avid girl mmo player is taunted by her brother, that girls attach themselves to guys and have it easy cuz they get gifts and such. She gets angry and since a new MMO is coming out she decides to make a warrior and a guy in that game...however in that game all players must look like they do in the real world, but because she is the first player to have ever logged into the game, as a reward the devs allow her to change gender... so she becomes the only transgender character in the game. She keeps this a secret... and of course hilarity ensues due to various things... This one is based on a internet novel that is being or has been translated within the last year and if you look it up i'm sure you can find the free english translation online as it is complete and the manga itself is slow to actually be made even though it is massively popular.

Beach Stars, A bunch of girls have their volleyball club closed due to some issue or another. They get the idea to form a beach volleyball club and state as their quest to beat a certain person... It's loaded down with fan service and funniness and is a nice light read.

Mysterious Girlfriend X, the adventures of a weird girl that keeps scissor in her panties and can use them to cut things to bits really fast and a boy... it's a romance.

Super-Dreadnought Girl 4946, giant girl fights giant monsters...eats boy for more power, but throws him up before she kills him... it's a romance...an interesting romance.
  23. btw... There are two "History's Strongest Disciple Kenichi" One of these is a finished short series that is cool and the other is an on going series... they are both based on the same concept and the first part of the latter series is very similar to the full series of the former... but it's not exact. Its because the latter is written and based on the former series...
  24. Bakuman, written by the team that wrote Death Note. It's the story of two boys that want to become mangaka and have an anime made of their work. It's great art and story.

Freezing, Some time in the past some interdimensional monsters attacked earth. Heroes rose up and stopped them. Since then there has been a education program to train girls and boys that have the ability to stop the monsters' attacks that happen sporadically. It mainly follows a freshman who is the brother of one of the heroes. The story also follows his partner who is considered one of the most powerful of the school.

Gantz, A crazy story about a people getting killed and resurrected to take part in what appears to be a game of some sort. It's insanely gorey and NSFW. If you like Deadman Woderland you probably will like this.

Liar Game, It's the story of a girl who gets involved in a strange game where a company gives participants x amount of money and sets other participants to acquire the other participants money. The rules are... you may use whatever means to acquire other participants money save for killing them (i think). You must pay back all of the money you are loaned. You may keep any of the money you acquire. If you cannot pay back the loan, the company will do whatever it can to get the money back from you (this side has not yet been explored but used as a threat). If you get through a round and wish to not go on to the next round you can buy your way out by giving half the money back that you won. It's been a while since i've read it and read the explanation of the rules, but anyways... this girls meets a guy who is extremely good at cons and together they set out to "survive" at first, but then their objective becomes to take down the company.

Change 123, Story of a girl with multiple personality disorder due to be raised by 3 of the top martial artists in the world... Each style results in a new personality forming...and a guy that falls in love with her.

Ketai kiyoshi Hitman Reborn, A meek freshman is told he is to become the head of one of the biggest mafia family's in the world and because there are people that don't like this decision and will be coming after him which is why Reborn is there to train him.

History's strongest Disciple Kenichi. A nobody kid who gets picked on looks to find martial arts training and stumbles into a dojo that is inhabited by several of the top martial artists in the world that are legendary. They accept him as their disciple and start training him...the result being that stronger people keep coming after him.

Holyland, story of a bullied kid that is on the verge of suicide and such... This causes him to obsess over mastering a single punch that he learns from a book... and wandering the streets leads to getting into confrontations with thugs... this leads to fame which leads to people coming after him which leads to him needing to learn new things and such. It's a good story that discusses street fighting and combat moves.

I could go on, but i think that is enough....for now.
  25. This will lead to stilted performances by already famous people or lively performances of nobodies... either way after the point this becomes main stream we will lose "stars" which somewhat worries me that directors may stagnate and not introduce new talent or we'll have a problem with people not getting the "rights" to use a dead person in their movie or have one char look too like another person...
