  1. Rylas, do I really have to point how much BS you've spouted again?

I said PM me. I don't care about spoilers. You haven't, instead you've taken to quote mining and using other fallacies. That just shows your intent as not having a discussion, but for something else.

Also, my opinion is formulated based on the facts of what I have heard. Not the opinions about about those facts, and I made it clear that that opinion is subject to change once I've seen the movie. So far none of the facts I have said is wrong, but there may be more facts that make those things alright, but then, none of those extra facts have made it any better so meh.
  2. From what I have read around the net discussions on Tron Legacy either go all one way or all the other.

Like I said, I will watch and decide then, but I am very highly unlikely to change my opinion about how a club or a crowd even remotely makes sense in that world nor how the plot itself even remotely makes sense.

If you think that them needing to get Kevin's (that's his name right?) disc makes sense, PM me the explanation, I'm pretty sure it doesn't, but again that still doesn't make having other things in there make any more sense.

There is a difference between an enjoyable story that isn't deep and a pretty light show that the moment you think about any facet of it you realize that none of it makes sense.

    Smallville has little depth.

Tron Legacy is a pretty light show that makes no sense from what I've heard and those people make a damn convincing argument with the facts presented.
  4. Ossuary, what I'm talking about is a huge plot hole... I am not disagreeing that I might have got something wrong, but even looking at say the entire plot spelled out and explained... There is still a huge gaping hole with that whole issue. But yeah, 1 in depth explanation of the entire series with links to all the concepts and such and a review of who I consider to be often overly critical, but most of the time fair may be wrong and there may not be that plot hole.

Even removing that, as I said, the fact there is a "club" and a "crowd" especially given the whole idea of "perfecting" the world in a digital world as it is shows incompetence on some level of the films creative team.

There are just some ideas that before they get on the page, you should realize they don't belong in that setting... and those are among them.

But that being said I have heard it's good if you turn off your brain completely, which I don't see why you'd want to do, but whatever...

    Young Justice

While the reasoning in story for Impulse going to Kid Flash was well done I think it was a huge disservice to the character, considering they just tossed out the entire character pretty much by having him become more serious and more knowledgeable and less impulsive which are all prime traits of the character.
  6. I'm not parading around using someone elses words. I clearly stated these things in the moves have been pointed out. My opinion is of what I think of those stated things that happen.

The reason why the gate way was not opened was because specifically there is only a certain amount of time that it is open once someone comes through. Apparently this CLU guy isn't smart enough to get his people together either before the guy comes through or while it's open.

If this is not the case then the only thing I can presume is that the disc opens and shuts it from inside, but then so what, just go out in to the world and station someone there to turn it on and off... it's already been shown they can communicate.

As far as "Tess being revealed as a Luthor" I have said nothing on the matter as far as I remember but that's besides the point. That is not a hole at all and there is nothing wrong with it from a technical point of view. There is a taste issue, but that is not what a plot hole is.

Oh and I will be watching Tron 2 soon as I can, but when that is i don't know. Doesn't mean that I can't comment on what has been said, which is what I'm doing.

PS: as far as the maturity of my Avatar image. I laugh, that's all that needs to be said about that oh Mature one with the Lost avatar.
  7. Rylas, when you comment on Smallville you almost always miss the details or for some reason don't remember details from earlier that are presented. What I am commenting on is the plot from my understanding relies on something that makes no sense and isn't explained why.

CLU's plan is to take over the world using his army that he has assembled by taking them through to the real world. To do this he needs the gateway open. The reason the gateway wasn't open pre-movie is he didn't have time to get this plan all together until after the gate closed...Therefor, all he needs to do now is find some way to open the portal, which happens in the first what? 10-20 mins of the flick?

So...movies over at that point...No of course not... We need some reason to explore the world and such so they say we need this ID disc...but never answer why from what I have heard. It's not to form in the real world because if it were the son would have to use one and again...movies over in 20 minutes... The only thing I can think of is that the disc has some sort of proof of who the guy is, but if that's the case he has misconception of how the world works and that doesn't seem to be the case either and even if it were he wouldn't need the disc nor would the disc be used to confirm his identity and it still wouldn't be useful because its the son the owns everything already so CLU still couldn't do anything without the son allowing it.

So what it ends up being is all filler, which I could accept on terms of well it's jsut an excuse to look around this world and explore the premise of the world of digital processes, but it isn't, not with crowds and clubs and such things that shouldn't be in the digital world so the plot aspect is crap, it ruins the premise aspect, and apparently the guy can't tell a story based on the various details Spoony pointed out.

As far as the CGI... everything that should be in that movie should be very simple to do by todays standards and so if they are bad at all it shows a lack of talent or focus on those aspects in favor of something which whether it was good or bad doesn't matter cuz it didn't need to be in the movie. I'm not saying that the CGI itself is bad, but rather that if it is to anyone then there is a problem...and I have heard people say they are bad so I am left with the conclusion that they are indicative of other bad decisions on the film.
  8. White Hot Flash,

I am speaking of what is said of the movie. All that is required is to say I am wrong about the plot and it is a good plot is to say, and explain why CLU needs the item he is after the entire movie.

With the story holes, you expect some problems and over sites, but no where near what was described. The fact that there is a "club" in the movie shows that their is somewhat a lack of understanding of why the original movie was the way it was. Even without seeing it I can say that much.

And the graphics.. My point is that Tron shouldn't be using anything hard to do so if they are even remotely commentable as "bad" it shows that they are far worse than what people think because they are so standard and easy... and if they are going beyond the standard and easy they are trying too hard.

But like I said, I haven't watched it, but from what I have heard there is a lot of problems with it and my opinion will only likely get worse after I watch it.

As far as the main review I am basing what I am saying off of... It's our favorite neighborhood Spoony of course.
  9. From what I have heard, I haven't watched it yet, the plot sucks... why? Simple...

CLU needs to get x... Why? To take over the world. How? What does x do? No clue.

The plot is the basic story that is laid out with major details such as what the **** does x do and why it is needed to do something.

The Premise is great... however, it's not this creative team's premise so you can't count that. And the basic idea of "lets go see what happened in this world!" isn't really a novel idea.

The story itself is full of holes from what I understand and more or less dismisses the premise to be more of an action flick with babble put in to sound smart, but fails to miss out on everything that the original was trying to do and both in my opinion fails to live up to the great premise that is there is this digital world where the programs you load are manifested as actual people.

Whether the effects are great or not I have no idea, but from what I hear the effects were garbage and this I really must wonder about because they aren't doing anything revolutionary in the film or even slightly new for most if not all of the movie... and CLU didn't need to be a younger version... so if it was even average i'd have to say it failed in terms of graphics.

Of course there are also people saying that the graphics weren't used the same way... and I gotta say if what i heard was true of how the bike and frisbee scene were...then the movie did a complete disservice to the original concepts those things were going for and I would go so far as to say the writer or director, whoever did that, had no understanding of the original and shouldn't have been involved with the movie if they had the power to get that in there.

Red Tornado states that it is something Brainiac would be jealous of and then the Principal says that that is what the other kids call her.

Numbers themselves are fairly worthless imo because a lot of writers just throw out something that they think is high (similar to what people think techno babble is) and then hope that others get it or use descriptors to give the feel that they are going for.

Though I keep hoping Cisse will turn up in connection to the new Green Arrow series at some point, or maybe in a new costumed identity in Teen Titans. "Artemis" from the new YJ cartoon bears a striking resemblance to our little Arrowette, after all.

I know Traya and her mother have fairly recently made appearances in JLA, since Red Tornado has been featured there in the past few years.

I'm wondering, Durakken, if you've read the Impulse series as well? Good, fun stuff, especially in the early issues.
Traya has made recent appearances in the Red Tornado series in 2009 apparently and Cissie was used as a way to solve a problem which happened in between YJ Graduation Day and Teen Titans v3... which is Cassie revealed her identity and she started having probs at school because of it so to get her away from that for some reason they had her kicked out and in Issue 7 Cissie shows up to petition for Cassie to get in her school where somehow Anita and Greta also go to school along with Traya... From reading that I would think they'd be supporting characters and be used but the lack of info on comicvine about any more recent activity indicates they were pretty much forgotten...

As far as Impulse...no I have not read it yet though I might add Impulse and Wonder Girl both to my read list... I only read this and now Teen Titans v3, like I mentioned, as somewhat as an avoidance to reading Superman, but also cuz i was curious...and since Teen Titans v3 is pretty much a continuance I was like I might as well read that too...

    Young Justice

So... I just finished reading all of Young Justice, avoiding my reading of early Superman for a bit...

And I'm sorta upset... the events all happened in cannon, but all the characters were pretty much just forgotten after the end of the series...and the series had pretty much no impact on the rest of the universe...

Fite & Maad... and Empress (Anita Fite) was left in an interesting situation where she was forced to raise her parents with the help of her "Uncle" Maad.

Cissie King-Jones was just forgotten even though she is a great character and a nice female version to Red Arrow.

Slo-bo was killed off, from what I can tell, just because the series was ending and having Slo-bo running around would be weird I guess.

Secret, Greta Hayes, was forgotten even though she too has a great little possible continuation to her story since Darkseid apparently removed her powers, but he could only remove the "Evil" aspect of the power and not the blessing by the light god so she should have other powers or something.

Traya, Red Tornado's daughter, who has 170 IQ forgotten as well. She should be a part of Teen Titans as their resident genius or working for Oracle seeing as she is supposedly Smarter than Brainiac.

Seriously, these are all good characters and they're not being used... I was given the impression that Anita, Cissie, Traya, and Greta were all absorbed into the Wonder Girl comic but they seem to have been just a, "Where are they?" "Oh... They are friends with Cassie over here off screen..." It's annoying.

I think they should take those characters and make some sort of crazy team... perhaps maybe be employed by Batman, inc. or Oracle.

Also...The Super-Cycle and The Max have been just completely forgotten... A sentient vehicle that has an attachment to the people of Young Justice and a Interstellar space ship have been forgotten...how is that even possible when those would be very useful...
  13. My mistake, though after looking at the wiki article, only partly so. Heat death is the universe is getting hotter, but because of a different reason...and it's no longer possible end.

Big Crunch also ends in "fire", and since the above is also not valid any longer, my brain must have associated the two together.

"Heat Death" doesn't mean that things are very hot when it occurs.

i guess it's a matter of quibbling over terminology and my being attached to the standard usages.
    actually it does...

Cold death refers to the fact that all the energy and matter in the universe is so far apart or in black holes that there basically no way to get heat/energy and thus it's the "cold death"

The "Heat death" on the other hand refers to when gravity stops the outward expanse and pulls everything back in, causing all the energy and matter in the universe to clump and collide thus making it literally hot and dieing in a roaring nuclear furnace

That's the whole point of those names, so as to give the layman something to understand what it would be like.
  15. Actually the "heat death" is the big crush which could happen any time, if it does happen, without warning, where the universe collapses. The One that is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay in the future is referred to as the "cold death" and or the big rip.

But that is besides the point. We're talking end of time. The end of what we perceive of as linear time, which could be now or never.

I would choose to go back in time and be immortal for a number of reasons...
#1. While it might be boring I would have a lot of time to think, write, and learn how the things came to be...
#1a. Some might point out that you are at the beginning of time and thus have no reading and writing utensils, but that is not true, Your flesh and bone and blood could be used.
#1b. The argument that there is a lot of time to go through and you'd get bored is in my opinion nonsense and it bares out as such when one thinks about life in general that it is nonsense.

#2. The fact that an entity could offer me such a thing indicates that they must have some sort of way to travel back and forth, to impart such stuff, and be unaffected by the end of time anyways so there must be a way to get around it, however the length of time in the end of time, and the resources, may not be and most likely aren't available. However, even if the big rip happened before I figured it out, there is every bit of reason to think pocket universes and other such technology could be used to sustain resources to reach the end to ask about the work around from anyone that the entity offered the second choice to...or the entity itself.

#3. Even if I had all the knowledge in the universe and more time I would not find it at all worthwhile as even with more time you're missing other components to what makes life interesting and worthwhile. I would gladly give up quite a bit of my current knowledge to gain other things so I don't see how it's beneficial to me without a level of certainty that i could figure out a work around to continue on.

#4. Going back in time allows you to be helpful to others and not just satisfy your own curiosity. And comes with the added benefit of the possibility of reaching the point of having all knowledge anyways...

So in my opinion the second option has no merits for anyone other than the greedy, stupid, and huge gamblers. The end of time guy could take that choice betting the entity might give someone else that choice and they might gather resources and such to figure out a work around...Of course if their wrong, they know it instantly and they have an hour to deal with that fact and just how bad or good their decision was ultimately.

And what would I ask? Well if I was there it means I hadn't figured out the work around yet and so I'd ask what it was and quickly build it.
  16. Batman (#705)
    Green Lantern (#060)
    GL Em. Warriors (#005)
    Brightest Day (#16)
    Batman and Robin (#018)
    Birds of Prey v2 (#007)

my opinion of these titles is that...well nothing really happened.

Batman learned more about something happening
Hal Jordan had a nice chat with Paralax and learned more about something happening
Guy Gardner learned more about something happening
    Aqualad became Aqualad
Firestorm "might have destroyed the universe"
Batman and Robin learned more about something happening
Barbara decided too many people know about Oracle and has decided to kill herself off... after setting up the whole Oracle thing which means the whole thing is stupidly conceived...

Basically it was just a parts of a whole story that without knowing the full story is hard to judge...so this week was more or less nothing happened.
  17. One day some random entity comes to you and gives you a choice...

Be transported to the beginning of time and live until the end of time. You have the ability to fly FTL with reduced relativistic effects by a lot and are immune to permanent damage.

    Or

Be transported to 1 hour before the end of time and have all knowledge in the universe.

    Which do you choose?

And at the end of time, you meet another person who chose the opposite choice, what do you think you'd say?
  18. I think, even if it's not 100% accurate it gives us an approximation that can be used to help get the idea across which is perfect for those who want to travel and not learn a whole bunch of languages or carry around dictionaries.
  19. So basically it got canceled due to pretty much the same reasons as a Star Trek: Enterprise.
  20. This is the second time the SG team has been screwed. For years SG-1 was planning for the end and they ended every season with the "this could be the last episode" episode and every year they got renewed...so when they finally was like "we're going to have an ongoing story and intro something new" Syfylis was like "We cancel you". So now we got to the focus of SGU and Syfylis is again going "We cancel you again"
  21. So when is this supposed to have more eps?
  22. SGU is people wanting to make SG like BSG when it's nothing like BSG v.v
  23. Durakken

    file help...

I and another person have tried Open Office... doesn't work.
  24. Durakken

    file help...

I've spent the last 3 or so hours on trying to get this thing to be converted.

If someone can get it converted still it'd be great, but I figured out what was bloating the file so huge... about 100 ~3000x2000px 1-3MB images being attached so I deleted all them and converted it. He can deal with fixing the images later if worse comes to worse.
  25. Hopefully MGM realizes what they have and pulls what they did with SG-1 which is go sell it to somewhere else... Or just do the whole movie route with SG-1 and expand into SGU and SGA
