    Maybe...maybe not...

You might have your sights on justice for all in a world where those who are supposed to do that have become corrupt.
  2. I don't think that is true.
You need only be off the grid for your operations but not completely.
You also can switch up and modify vehicles and find ways of getting around which is one of the ways to track you
You could set up ways of getting around that would make it so you couldn't be tracked back such as through underground passage ways between buildings that are hidden.

As far as evidence goes all that is needed for entering without a warrant is suspicion that something wrong is happening. A 911 call for example and a loud fight or something would certainly fit the bill.

Corporate can be worked from any number of angles...for example an employee that just happens to get files that are incriminating sent to them "accidentally"

I'm sure things like this would work.

Further you could work out a way fund this venture by way of having several groups/people that get orders from others who get orders from others so that noone would know who is in charge per se even if the funder was in the room. You could even go so far as to hand a set of orders to some random person off the street have them give it back to you and then say that "someone handed it to you and told you to hand it to the person at x spot"

It sounds a bit nuts but i think you could pull it off with enough money and ingenuity
  3. Let's say you were a billionaire and you wanted to form a "secret" "hero" team. That means no one knows who you are, preferably don't know you exist, and are out to fight crime.

In putting together this team what would you need on this team to effectively infiltrate, attain evidence, keep hidden, and put this team at as little risk as possible while maintaining a kill only if necessary stance on fighting crime.

That means in personnel, gear, or anything else.

You're going to want to have a building that is off the grid. No signals in or out. So you are going to need Generators and/or solar powered.
This building is going to have to have a garage and a medical center as well as a advanced computer system with self built OS.

You also are going to want Signal Stations and drop point buildings that are destructible all which are within range of the primary HQ so that HQ is a primary coordinating point with all the important stuff there, but the safe house stations are where you control have command control system and such. Each of the safe houses will also have to have a med bat of some sort.

You're going to want a hacker, maybe two
You're going to want everyone trained in field medical or whatever its called
You also will want whatever is necessary for any surgery that could arise that you can't take them to the hospital for. And at least 2 people that can lead that group for all those surgeries...what those i don't know...i know bullet wounds, but is there anything else?

You're going to want a field commander and a HQ commander (whatever their called)... How many people do you think should be on the field? However many there are it's certain that they should trained more for hand to hand and pistols than anything heavy. i'd also think you'd want to have a tech expert in the field.

    minimum age? Maximum age?

Should the team know each other? It's easier to keep things secret if the team doesn't know who is in charge and how many people they are really working with.

Another addition to the team might be a few cops or lawyers. Those who could "find" the evidence, or weight in on it's legality before they pursue something that ends up not being worth their time.

What should the policy be towards police and capture? How much info is allowed to be divulged?

Also when when we talk gear remember that i think we should be going towards more light weight, easily replaceable either through self making or easy to pick up and are not traceable or are easily destroyed without much thought.

    DCnU week 3

I've been writing reviews of all the new 52 on comicvine as I read them... here are my thoughts on GL and RL

    Green Lantern. 6/10
    Quote:
    Title: Meh Lantern

This book does a decent job of reintroducing the characters and setting up where they've been and where they are going. It does however have several problems with it's story.

#1. Hal Jordan has apparently been AWOL from the Air Force for months now... which makes no sense given that he's been the GL for years and if the GL story is pretty much the same he was no longer with the Air Force as of 5+ years ago.

#2. The Guardians are making incomprehensible movements, from letting Sinestro go to what they say to Ganthet to what they are doing to Ganthet. They make it clear in War of the Green Lanterns that they don't like Sinestro being a GL and they intend to execute him yet they let him go... and return to a sector that is already being watched over.

#3. We don't get a recap of what happened in War of the Green Lanterns but we start right after it occurred... meaning that new readers have to go pick that up to know what's happening here, which DCnU is supposed to prevent. This lack of recap leaves us with a Hal Jordan that has been mysteriously kicked out of the GLC, returned to Earth penniless, and we're left with Hal looking like a villain according to the Guardians' dialogue.

The art is decent enough save for the one page panel that has Sinestro putting his hand in his armpit, but other than that its the quality of art you expect.

    My recommendations...

Is this a pass? No. It's a deent book. If you like GL it's a continuation and some of the elements of the backstory are funky but they likely won't matter over all so whatever.

Should a new reader pick this up? It does an ok job at getting a reader up to date, but really, the fact is GL has more or less not changed, they expect you to have been following along with this title from before, and the stories from the GL and GLC titles are still in continuity so I'd suggest going back and reading "Death of Superman" followed by "Reign of the Supermen" followed by the issues of GL that happen around that period. Read "Zero Hour", skim "Final Night", Read "GL: Rebirth", and then read volume 4 of GL and volume 2 of GLC (the latest volumes) that will get you completely caught up to where this book is going and they are all pretty good reads (save for Final Night).
    Red Lanterns 8/10
    Quote:
    Title: Lamentations of an Despot

This issue is a good intro to Atrocitus more so than the Red Lanterns. You get a little back story about the Red Lanterns, but it is really muted and lost in the mix. If i had no idea who the Red Lanterns were, what their powers were, or anything about the Emotional Spectrum or the DCU I'd have just about as little clue as I did before.

the book is written from the point of view of Atrocitus and the writing harkens back to the monologues issues of galactic despots such as Darkseid and Mongul. It's really a great read in that sense and anyone that likes those styles of books will surely like this book.

I like where I see that the story is going, BUT I also think that some of the things, namely the story event on Earth, could have waited till the next issue it detracts from the overall flow of the book in this issue. It's a rushed element, but it doesn't do too much harm.

If you skip this book you'll miss like 2 pages that set up an origin of a future character, but other than that you won't be missing any story elements. However this is also worth the money and a good stand alone issue. If you are looking for something to pick it up, this is a good one for the money and even though it really doesn't contribute to the overall story of the world it is a well done character piece.

    DCnU week 3

I'm posting now rather than after I'm done to give some good and some bad news...

I read 3 titles so far

Resurrection Man #1 = Go buy it. It's well done 10/10

Demon Knights #1 = It's meh all the way around but it hopefully will get better once this dumb writer is off the book 5/5

And now for the good and bad news...
Mister Terrific #1 = It is one of the worst pieces of crap comics I've read. Karen Star aka Power Girl is in it.

If anything this would likely be closer to Dexter.
Spectre will smite you if he heres you saying he couldn't have been a pretty girly!
  9. They already made this show... It was called "Touched by an Angel" or was it "Highway to Heaven"
  10. I don't mean just straight transplant. I mean, use the code as a base point to work off of to see what worked and why... and then from there build their own system and code.

There are usually several ways to do the same thing with code and since you'd have different people building on that super secure code privately you'd have variants with a strong base rather than variants with indeterminate strengths and bases as we do now
  11. I was watching: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6gSwRHScq6M

And I was thinking that it would be an incredibly interesting idea to set up a website with a private server... then say..

"Hack this server, if you can. If you can, Improve the security"

So any and all security is broken through and then improved. It creates a challenge of both getting in and keeping out hackers using the skills and expertise of hackers.

After a while that server would likely become nigh impenatrable and then you take that security and apply it to other servers and such.

    DCnU [Spoilers!]

You know, the worst thing about the DCnU is that it doesn't do what it set out to do in terms of story telling and such.

The comics don't introduce you to most of the characters, the universe, or anything else... They want to introduce all this stuff to new readers and they don't do that at all so all this "people won't get it less they read all the back issues and that's why we're rebooting" No one knows these characters or this universe and these comics don't do a good job at telling you who they are.

    DCnU [Spoilers!]

Actually, I agree with Bob Chipman aka Movie Bob aka Game Overthinker...

Regardless of how much DCnU sucks has nothing to do with how good or bad this whole thing is going...

What IS causing all the buys is something that comics industry has pretty much forgotten how to do. It's called MARKETING. Publishers don't advertise and comics are only sold at specialty shops and comics are only advertised in other comics so noone in the outside world really know anything about them.

The books are selling well now because people have been advertised to. Future success will likely be based on the same thing and if DC stops advertising their comic sales will likely be dropped back to previous sales points or worse.

Then they were partners about 6 months when Hank died. Hank was gone about a year before being brought back in Brightest Day. ( Granted they still need a timeline to show the backstory so everyone's on the same page and how Hank died)
Hank & Don were close but remember Dawn was overseas in London when she recieved the powers of Dove after Crisis. Do you remember every single one of your brother's or sister's ex-girlfriends / boyfriends?
Granted I'm not a fan of Liefeld's art either but I think story wise you're being totally unfair here.

*(On a side note while I don't agree with you're assessment of Batgirl either, I do agree you raise some valid points in your criticism of that)*
The issue states they've been working together for a couple of years. I have no idea what the full back story of Hawk and Dove is, but the way it's written gives too many mixed signals.

On the first 4 reviews, including Batgirl, I had a power outage and lost them and I was being nicer in the rewrite

Here's a longer review which I wrote earlier today on comicvine...

    Quote:
This is perhaps the worst of the new 52 that came this week. Not because it was bad writing or bad art per se, but because there are so many things wrong with it that it really does show that no matter how good the character, art, or writer that sometimes it is just garbage.

I want to be clear that it isn't that the writing is bad in and of itself, but rather that it is because what the writer does to the character.

Batgirl, and specifically Barbara Gordon, has been a symbol of women liberation and handicap empowerment. Before she was shot she was a strong forceful confident brave girl that got he leg up on the super elite Batman and after she was shot she was broken for a short while but quickly pulled herself together and reforged herself stronger than ever before, becoming one of the top people in the super hero world as well as making quite a buck for herself. And even while in her wheelchair and in front of a computer all the time she never lost a step whenever she regained her physical ability to walk whether it be from power or in the virtual world.

This book takes a beat from Batgirl Special #1 and makes the Brave, Bold, Confident woman into a pathetic weakling that is scared to face a gun pointed at her by even the most inept of of gunmen. She no longer has made a name for herself apparently and lives in a small apartment. And if you want to talk about powering down Superman and how that may or may not work you should really be seeing that this character that is in Batgirl #1 that they are claiming is Barbara Gordon is anything has been depowered in just about every possible way from physical, to mental, to economical.

In the end this is not a book I recommend because it is not only just a "few things different" it is indeed a ripping out of the soul of a symbol and replacing it with a Skrull doppelganger.

    DCnU [Spoilers!]

... Well I just read that Jason Todd was never Robin in the DCnU which means one of the most essential moments in Bruce's life which has effected all the bat stories after CoIE no longer happened. Somehow what happened to Jason happened to him though which really doesn't work cuz if he wasn't Robin none of those past stories make any sense what so ever... and most of Batman lore as of current makes no sense either...

To get every flashpoint issue it'd cost $212 and spans 53 issues... 5 told the story of "flashpoint" 1 page told the story of why the huge reboot... 6 issues told the story of why the flashpoint world sucked. Most of the rest ranged from utter crap (like Grodd of War) to great one shot mini-stories (like World of Flashpoint).

Also: I hear that the reboot was an attempt to "appeal to younger readers who would be thrown off by seeing Batman #893"

Why is this just now a concern, as opposed to all of us who used to be a younger audience? For example, when I started reading comics, it was around Knightfall and The Death Of Superman. Well past 400 issues for both Superman and Batman. Not once did I feel left out because there were so many other back issues. Especially with the advent of the internet, which made what little problem I had with it go away.

Ugh. I'll go back to reading DC when they go back to the old universe.
Knight Saga ended with issue 500. and the entire thing is like 70 issues split between like 3 or 4 titles... Detective Comics, Batman, Batman: Shadow of the Bat, and Batman: Legends of the Dark Knight. Also Robin launched from the middle of Knight Saga.

    DCnU [Spoilers!]

Continuing the full 13 #1 reviews...

Stormwarch #1: While I can't say anything negative about it as a book by itself I get the feeling that this is Jim Lee masturbating his ego. These guys say that Super heroes are "ameturs." That StormWatch has been around for centuries protecting earth. And they have Martian Manhunter pretty much use the term hero as a derogartory. Further even if you don't like this comic or where its going you will have to read it because this is now the center of the DCU rather than the JLA or GL or anything that is actually from the DC Comics.

Justice League International #1: Its the classic JLI mixed with the Ultimates... heck the guy who put it together even looks like Ultimate Marvel's Nick Fury without the eye patch. It's good some nice humor and I hope it develops well... but that doesn't stop it from being a rehash and a ripoff combined...

OMAC #1: HULK SMASH! I mean OMAC SMASH!!! An average book. It will likely be canceled within the year as anyone that likes this type of book likely already reads Hulk.

Hawk and Dove #1: Another below average book... The 2 have been working together for 3 or so years now and for some reason Hawk doesn't know there is a connection with Don and Dove nor are they cohessive unit even though they always been up to this point and assuming Brightest Day is cannon have been in any known cannon for this unverse... So all the issues they have make no sense... The first page was a cool play on the Hawk & Dove mythos though, tricking the reader into thinking one thing and then going a different direction. so below average writing and below average art... meh.

Action Comics #1: Superman acts to cocky/arrogant in this in my opinion. He doesn't yet have the power to fly. The big bad villain is seen as a good guy and the authorities don't into account the safety of the innocents thus demonizing authorities All the common tropes of the badly done hero mistrust storyline. There is no date indicating when this is taking place, Clark looks as young as Jimmy, and doesn't work at the same news paper. I'll give it a C... C-

Detective Comics #1: Good book. Not great, but good and against the back drop of that cavalcade of crap it looked better than it usually would. It's a classic quick Batman vs Joker story and establishes that Gotham cops are incompetent and don't trust Batman. Gordon however still works with him.

Side Note: This comic Establishes Joker's Origin as 6 years ago and assuming that Batman Year One is cannon and Joker's origins are tied to Batman it places Super heroes being around 7.5 years in current day DCU and Action Comics happens around 7.5 years ago rather than 5 years ago like is suspected... Otherwise Batman is the first Super Hero in cannon. This also places JLA forming in Y2 or 3 which is when they formed in the old cannon.

Static Shock #1: The writers do a decent job of introing the characters and the basic setting of the comic as well as the foe he's likely to face for the foreseeable future, but this seems to assumes you've watched the show Static Shock from the DCUA... If they told his origin story I think this would have been much better as a relaunch/reboot/new character...Its worth seeing where this goes.

btw I'm 161 issues from being completely caught up with Ultimate marvel... It's so far better ^.^
