So on Netflix is the show The Colony. It apparently aired like a year ago...

It's a reality show to a degree... It's 10 people put into a situation where it's the end of the world and they have to survive for 10 weeks in a "post-apocalyptic" scenario.

Right now I'm on episode 9 of 10 and I'm really sorta disturbed. Not at what's happened in terms of violence but how useless and stuck up the women are and how little they seem to grasp the situation that they are supposed to be in.

Almost every problem that they have that comes from the inside comes from the women arrogant, stuck up, and lacks behavior while the men while they sometimes have bad attitudes, are loud, shout, etc, they generally just get it done... The only truly big problem that come from the men is their lack of trust for just about anyone else...and the one time they show trust is to a religious group and a guy that ultimately steals from them and thattime the women cause problem there too.

It seems in the one case where the men and women have a choice to be trust the men are and the women automatically go against the men just because.

I want to be clear that the uselessness of the women I don't think it's the women themselves for the most part (some times it is) it's that the show seemed to have picked less useful areas of expertise for them...

Someone's wife (later on in the series)


2 of the men had practical experience with survival skills. One was in the military and the other had prison time.

The marine biologist never was useful (good to know just in case)
The Rocket scientist had 1 of her own project and that failed... the other projects she was involved in was all solved or were just things others could have done by just about anyone in the group or just wasn't needed.
The Martial Artist caused several problems, and did nothing truly useful.
The Trauma Nurse had 3 chances to be useful but was about as useful as the common person... once she diagnosed a kidney stone, once she didn't help purposefully which could have resulted in someone's death, and the last time she put gauze on someone' head which anyone could have done...
Someone's wife was...not useful at all lol

ironically the most useless of the men(the doctor) was taken out before he could have been useful.

So the women who had the most useless jobs also were causing several social problems...

They did however wash clothes and cook... but they complained about that even though they started doing it as soon as it was mentioned without being asked and the men did cook and figured a better way to wash clothes...

So yeah... Do you think this is reaction is due to them knowing it's not a REAL situation... or do you think this is a realistic reaction?

i only saw 2 series that i would include on that list...

At this point I'm pretty sure that if they wanted to they could just use tech to take what they have of his voice and synth it... that is if his concern is his voice like what i have heard before.

Someone comes from the future and says the entire world/galaxy/universe is destroyed or in a very poor state... They show you proof... and they say it's all your fault... so you must die!

If you stop them from killing you do you try to make it so that future doesn't happen?
If not do you become villainous and hedonistic and stop caring, stop following the rules, and start criminal/villainous activities?

Here's a secret... Christmas has always been commercialized in any form you know it as.

As far as the reason for christmas... it's one of the oldest traditions that mankind has done. Further back than any religious or commercial stuff that was associated with it. Same with Halloween and Easter... those "holidays" are very important to us as a race. They've just been stolen by various religions over the years.

How bout if you're an adult and see 5 kids beating up another kid. Should people be arrested for stopping that from happening?

I saw it on PS3's thing, checked it out and saw that there were special features advertised with it, but it doesn't tell which ones, only the length of time and I really doubt that several shorts fit in the 24 minutes.

I pirated it and will buy it later. Would have bought it on PS3, but I want what I pay for, not less which is what it seems to be offering. I can't get out to the story right now so meh. It's one of the few movie studios that are guaranteed purchase for me as DCAU is awesome.

Also yeah... the movie was good. Not perfect (they left some stuff out and i want it all in!), but great.

The only way humans have made it this far is working together. It's amazing that the bad guys all understand that naturally while everyone else wants to tell the good guys to stop standing up.

The Joker : Depends on incarnation - The Dark Knight version could be considered acting in the betterment of society. The comic version, he started out as a good guy that was pushed over the edge, but either way his focus has been Batman and not society. His entire persona relies on the Batman persona so if Batman ceases to be he would do what is best for himself which is to re-establish Batman. So it makes sense for him to become a good guy outside of Batman's presence.

Kingpin - If I remember right he was a mistreated kid and wanted the bullies to stop. He accomplished this by attaining powers and controlling the bullies. So any evil he does becomes a necessary evil rather than him being evil in general.

Hobgoblin - Crazy people are crazy...

Carnage - same as above...

Red Skull - don't know enough of his history, but isn't his goal similar to the Nazi's? Purification by killing off those who go against him. Yes killing his bad, but his ultimate goal is a utopia where everyone follows the law and such.

Annihilus - no clue

Venom - He's never been evil. He's always just not liked Peter. Outside of that he's always been a fairly decent guy.

Rhino - He'll do anything that makes him a buck, being a common criminal and all.

Quicksilver & Scarlet Witch & Magneto - They all share the view that Mutants are superior and best way to transition is to remove humans. At some points they don't think this is the case and agree with Xavier. They don't want to cause chaos and such.

Thanos - don't know much about him

Galactus - He doesn't want to kill billions of people. He was created by trying to survive and killing planets allows him to continue to survive and his continued survival allows the rest of the universe survive. So if I want to save as many people as possible, not letting the entire universe get whiped out is a good place to start and that's Galactus' function.

the High Evolutionary - Isn't it his goal to create a utopia?

Hulk - He was just out of control when he's considered evil. It is those attacking him that make him so. So when he is in control and not being attacked he's good.

Dr. Doom - Doom is odd. In general he's a good guy/ruler as shown when he takes over the world. The reason he hands it back is cuz he's bored or something. So he puts his own enjoyment before the world, but I'd imagine that he still wants to see that well ruled world. One of the best ways to get that world is for others to step up and one of the best ways to get people to step up is to be the target.

first off, There has been a strong genetic factor found in one sex becoming homosexual or heterosexual. The other sex however there has been found either none, or very little, and it has more to do with various developmental conditions that are not "genetic" but still outside of the "choice" area.

Secondly, Sociopathy occurs when a child is not handled enough while the first several months of their life. Their empathic/sympathetic development is retarded and as such do not think in terms of how things will effect others. It is a handicap and it is no more "evil" than someone who is missing an arm or needs to wear glasses. On the other hand, people characterizing sociopaths as evil are themselves evil in my opinion.

Thirdly, Psychopath is also not evil. A psychopath is someone who has a mental disease and again it's those who characterize these people evil that are evil. Especially when you know that everyone has a mental disorder/disease to some degree.


If you want to cure the world of the above get everyone into psychotherapy and educate them properly, stop having war, and stop stressing people out... and that cures pretty much all of the things that can be cured above.


As far as curing evil. Don't be daft. Evil is simply an opposing view that is contrary to our view. It's why things like the 1st amendment exist. So people can't just go around claiming others are "evil" for their beliefs and kill them, or make laws against them, or anything like that

Good Villains are only Villains because they have an opposing view than the heroes or society or they believe that they can improve society by doing what they are doing.

Why wouldn't a good villain go "good"? They want what's best for society, humanity, whatever. If the best way to do that has changed why wouldn't they also change?

At least the plot advanced in this episode...

There is something dark and mysterious going on... like omg we're in the past and I want to get laid. What's the deal with these dinosaurs?

It's like there are two shows going on...

There seems to be 3 categories that are popping up...

#1. The Magical Girl Genre. Not what I'm looking for, but close
#2. The Adult female bad *** who is a female protagonist... The're adult so disqualifies them.
#3. The young female that acts like an adult. Like Tengen Toppa Gurran Lagann...she's 14, not the main protagonist and acts like an adult or Line Inverse who is the main protagonist and is young, but acts like an adult.

Those are the 3 types that are popping up from the titles i see and know or have looked at.

Aren't there any young female characters that actually act like young female characters but aren't in magical girl roles... think something more along the lines of where the kid gets control of a toy robot that becomes a mecha. He acts like a kid. Are there any stories where that kid is female rather than male and continues to act like a kid and is not a magical girl. I guess that girl would be a tom boy to some standards, but whatever ^.^
