No that's not what happened
No that's not why they did it
No that's no what they did
No they should not do that
Gen X didn't refuse to grow up, and even if they did that has nothing to do with what happened.
Stan Lee actually had the right idea... Every comic is someone's first. When you realize this you realize how dumb the idea of a "reboot" is for reintroducing characters is.
The problems include...
Forced 6 issue arcs
Using blurbs to introduce the characters/story rather than doing it in the comic. -
Based on the number of 50,000 words makes a novel...I can write 8 novels in a month. I'm not, because I'd rather try to write something good, which takes more time ^.^
-
It depends what you mean by frighten. There is a ton of stuff that I don't like that, make me freak out or worry or whatever, and that I avoid for the most part, but I wouldn't consider them so much fears because I don't let them stop me from doing anything.

Quote:Sarcasm is not neededHuh, I guess you're right. Next time I get a level 15 DO drop I'll sell it instead of replace a similar, weaker enhancement that's getting close to fading. Thanks for your brilliant advice *eyeroll*
Enhancements don't make a difference much below lvl 15 (even at lvl 15 they don't make much difference) so using enhancements that you can sell is wasting the money you could get via selling them and means you'll have less inf for getting the IOs later... it doesn't seem like a lot but it is >.>
I prefer getting the money for future IOs and not bothering with changing enhancements all the time. It's not the only way, but i think it's better, if I didn't I wouldn't do it myself. -
That's a waste of money ^.^ Should sell all those... though it's irrelevant once you get a higher level character cuz you have more than enough money for that those IOs
-
Quote:I view them as a waste of moneyErm, maybe not at endgame, but I'm level 15 right now (bit of a noob) and DOs I can use that drop get slotted immediately.
I go enhancementless till lvl 12 and then deck myself completely with lvl 15 IOs
Wait till 25 and then deck myself with all lvl 25 IOs
I don't think I have a character that I've gotten to lvl 50 and attempted to deck out yet. I like lvl 25 IOs because then i can have the effects for ouro for most of the missions. -
Superman annoys me... here's my review on it and why.
Quote:I'm trying to find something I like about this title, but I just can't. This'll include a few spoilers so stop if you want none.
First thing that annoys me is the quote "You can't go home again." If we were talking about Superman in general it would be an apt line, but we're in a setting where he's talking about Krypton. Clark doesn't remember Krypton. He doesn't consider Krypton home and to make this in error more so is that the quote doesn't mean a physical place and Clark would know this as he's a well read person.
Next we move to General Lane who says pretty much that Superman is a target and this make Superman question himself. No. Just No. That's not how Superman would react. Why? Because he would have had to face this early in his career and you hear it all over the place. You hear it even in a world without super-heroes and Clark again would realize that "No, crime and disasters don't happen around me cuz I'm here, but I'm here because this is where crime and disasters are most likely to occur" Does he really think the likes of Brainiac wouldn't attack Earth? Especially after the events of Darkest Night and Brightest Day where we know that Earth is a highly prized place because of the Entity and it's position in the multiverse. It just doesn't work for Superman to be questioning like this.
Lois scene... [sarcasm] yay they are removing Lois from the comic because her being the perfect damsel is bad[/sarcasm] ... oh and "The only reason I'm successful is because of you Clark, both as motivation and giving me all those Superman stories" ... real classy, not.
The main story though is that there is a monster that Clark can't see or hear... and somehow can be seen and heard by others and everything else and even though Kryptonians have a much larger range than Humans and include Human rang in both those areas Clark can't hear or see the monster... and the creature doesn't cause sound or visual change either... for some odd reason.
So we're left to assume it's magic and the creatures are actually magic'd humans who have something to do with Krypton? It's not a mystery or interesting when you are not given clues to figure out and when it makes so little sense to begin with.
I like Superman when he is written well and George Perez is an awesome writer, but so far these last two issues have just been bad and without even trying you can poke tons of holes in them. Perhaps there is something I'm missing and at the end of the arc this will all make sense and work, but right now, every page makes me cringe...I can't help but think that something is effecting Perez's ability to tell a great story. -
Origins are like the most integral yet useless part of CoH... i don't think anything really uses them any more seriously.
The first missions don't use them
The dual/single origin enhancements use them but those enhancements I don't think anyone really uses any more.
There is a mission set that uses origins to decide something (the Percy missions at like lvl 30 in Croatoa)
I think you can also call it up as a variable in dialogue for AE...
That's about it >.> Is there something else they do? I can't think of anything.
edit: don't they also change the frequency of the salvage drops you get? -
Quote:*watches movie*Well, actually, Mjolnir was just a really, really damaging hammer that was very unwieldy to use because it was created with too short a handle due to Loki's interference since he was trying to win a bet over the quality of items crafted by two dwarves
as far as I know Thor was the God of Storms because he hit like thunder, not because he actually used thunder...most of the time, raw elemental powers in Norse myth were equated with evil monsters...predominately, Thor was a farmer's/laborer's/soldier's God.
Your ancient mythology is wrong! The movie says so!
Quote:That said...I would like to see an ability to add flame/neg/elec/etc to the various weapon sets we have
Another solution would be to drop ATs and lets us mix and match sets, but that's not going to happen. -
Actually no... Movie ratings are crud. There is no standard for what is or isn't a given rating. Movie ratings are based on what ever a small random selection of volunteers say it is. As general morality changes (or if uptight people keep "volutneering") the movie ratings changes and as such a PG-13 title of today's era could be an R rating tomorrow or yesterday... That means if people stop being puritan nudity and "language" won't earn you a higher rating.

I want weapons that are the source of the power...
For example a Mjolnir is a Hammer with the Power of Lightning. Thor get's hit lightning powers from his Hammer...without his hammer he doesn't have the lightning.
Likewise there is Captain Cold and Mister Freeze, both of which have Ice guns. Take them away and they are powerless.
I've always wanted an actual fire sword where the sword has fire powers and is the primary weapon instead of having to have some not quite what I want power set.
I don't see the problem that something like this would pose as Blasters are already melee secondary so have weapons that are largely melee but can have ranged powers should be an issue.
As far as secondaries I think melee secondaries alright for the idea but i'd propose a new style of secondary where they are largely innate that turn on and off based on power usage...something like where the more Brutes attack the stronger they get but instead of "stronger" a secondary power turns on at a given level so to maintain it being on you have to keep going. -
Quote:I'm not being cynical. I'm just saying that the polar bear thing is nothing special because they do it every year. I think the charity and the change over just happen to line up or something or perhaps someone saw the two things and linked them.Huh. Lots of cynicism here.
I don't care about the whys and wherefores of this. They're raising money for a good cause. I believe they were committing up to 3 million.
Good enough for me.
CocaCola has always given money to the save the polar bear things since they've been endangered and coke has been using the image. -
Quote:They both don't know what they are talking about in terms of comics, but whatever >.>Both Phoenix and his wife have done an interview. Well worth watching and reading.

Quote:Aquaman is only bad if you actually think about it and realize how much you are getting screwed by Geoff with Aquaman #2 and JL #1 & #2Wow, big drop. I'll be picking this up Saturday, along with the second issues of Flash and Superman.
Really miss Power Girl and Stephanie Brown.
read my review for why Aquaman fell so hard in my opinion...
Quote:My reaction to this comic was...
Wow this is a slow start... huh? I'm done? That was a pretty good comic...What was good about it? What happened? not much... a 5 page scene that should have been handled in one followed by a 4 pages scene that should have been 2 pages. Followed by a several page scene that had bad tropes and repeats of "wit" from the several stretched scenes...and then follow that up with a brief fight that has an ending that makes little sense...
OMG I just was tricked into thinking an average to bad book was good at first glance.
This entire comic could have been and should have been fit into 4, maybe 5, pages.
The first scene we don't need to see much of and the more that we're shown the less horrific these guys are. This is an axiom of visual medium of the horror genre... let the reader/viewer scare themselves.
The second scene was nice, but then over extended by Geoff's stupid back and forth dialogue that add nothing to the book except to stretch scenes and issues so that it fits into a 6 part arc. The more I read of his work the more I get annoyed with this shlock.
The trick that made this seem like a good book is that there was a fight scene at the end that increased the pace and makes you think oh wow I just had a great time, but you didn't. You sat through bad filler comedy and badly done horror for more than half the book. But the worse part about that is that the end fight scene had Aquaman just stand idly by while the trident was calmly taken away and then he was spit on.
Congratulations whoever made that happen, whether it was geoff, the artist, the editor, or all three that allowed that to slip by they just gave Aquaman his first real threat after building him up to be cool and they have him being impotent. Those scenes with him like that are so out of place in the last two issues and how Aquaman has been acting it's unbelievable that that got through what with 2 editors v.v -

All my physical comics are trashed... the closest ones that I have that might have been worth money are...
Batman 500 or 501 which is the Bruce vs Az-Bat in the mall issue
Amazing Spider Man 50th Anniversary(i think) holofoil issue with Spidey fighting Kraven
and Batman #0
My grandparents had some really old comics, but nothing really worthwhile so meh -
Does anyone else find this trend to be a bit disturbing?
The trend of
Slim Jim "FOR REAL MEN!"
Dr Pepper "FOR REAL MEN!"
I could think of more, but at the moment those two come to ind immediately. -
