Quote:I could deliberately misquote myself, but I'm not. What I'm stating is my personal opinion. I kind of said that early on. Just to check, I just rolled up a new character with a unique name last night, just to see if I could, and the name wasn't reserved. By the way, still not using odd punctuation and deliberate misspellings.Very nice way of deliberately misquoting, but a total failure at anything else. If you can't make your point without misrepresenting the other point of view, you have no point to make. If you're willing to settle for an inferior name with odd punctuation and deliberate misspellings, that's fine, but let's stay on point.
Good names are rarely reserved, and reward creative people. -
I was already starting off an Apex TF with my SG when I saw you calling for players. Considering that after ~3.5 hours we gave up and scrapped it--maybe I should have gone with you guys instead.

Quote:Oh I'm telling him you said that. For example, I heard the other day that this whole thing is Castle's fault. One day Castle decided to redesign Fireball so that every time someone used it, the game servers deposited a penny into his retirement account (ever wondered why fireball has such a short cast time? now you know). Castle figured in a few years he could have retired sitting pretty. But then datamining showed that blasters were dying too quickly and not using fireball enough. The ones that were not dying had such high defiance buffs that they were one-shotting everything and not using fireball enough. So he reduced the damage buff of defiance, and made blasters partially mez-immune. This helped greatly, but then blasters starting doing so well that blasters were using hundreds of thousands of fireballs. Pretty soon NCSoft didn't even have enough money to pay BaB and had to let him go, much to his surprise. At that point Castle knew the game was up and by year's end the auditors would catch up with him. Knowing that his finances were being monitored he transferred his ill-gotten gains to an offshore account under the name of an accomplice. Castle would then leave Paragon Studios and his accomplice, citing new opportunities out of state, would leave California and meet up with him in Aruba a few weeks later where they would split all that perk pack money.
And that, people, is why blasters were buffed. -

This is exactly what I have going on as well. No special setup, no tweaking, nothing--just hooked up two monitors and had the game on one and extra stuff on another. Sometimes I load up CoH information on it, or the Cape, or a movie to watch. Usually it's just chat, and RP references.

Quote:Surely, none of the rest of that movie is offensive.Who knew that his name was a bad word? I guess I've been living a sheltered life...

I was playing when the water broke. True story.

Is ***** really censored, or did I get the wrong name?
EDIT: Holy smoke, it is. -
Seriously though, I think it's a mindset. The last character I rolled up was named Vizier Black. That was the name I thought up, and that was the name that went through. I liked the name Priory, because I wanted a religious name, and that wasn't used either. I rolled up the name b00ts because I might use it on a Resistance character. I thought, hrm, I should have a Highwayman character. That was used, but Night Highwayman wasn't. It's not really that hard.
Again, I think it's the less creative names that are used the most.

This is the worst thing in this entire frigging thread. Now I can't get that stupid BLESS YOUR BEAUTIFUL HIDE WHEREVER YOU MAY BE out of my head. Wholesale kidnapping and attempted **** is HILARIOUS.

That is a single player. At least, somewhere in there.
According to the post I linked, they fell asleep.
Even so, if you can't beat Trappy on the first attempt, you're still better off resetting the mission. I hate that. -
I thought I was being specific, in referring to the bullet points. It was not meant as a wholesale attack on the entire post, just a statement about the bullet points. And if, as you said in both posts, they're just fluff rumors from the community, then we're doing the community a disservice by repeating them.

Quote:This is the awesomeness of CoH/V/GR.But...but...there's no balance! What if I pull aggro? What if I need heals! Who is going to tell me that my damage is the sux0rz and I need to L2P n00b!?
OMG!!!!!!: eek:
: eek:
But seriously...you can have an all damage team or all tank team or etc.. and still stomp your way across their faces without much of a drawback?
....
Not to be glib, but how is this possible?
I was tanking Lady Winter on my Defender for my team. Not well, not as good as a Brute or Tank might have done, but with a good team you can do anything.
And yes, all X teams just do X^Y so well that things get ridiculous. An all Defender team never gets hurt. An all Controller team never gets attacked. An all Blaster team never gets to use their Tier Nines.
Mixing and matching is fun, but don't be afraid to try a team of a single AT. -
You're all grown consenting adults, I don't care what you enjoy so long as it doesn't hamper what I enjoy. Keep on doing whatever it is you like, and support equal civil rights in the real world--where we really need it.

Still not having a problem with good names, and still seeing a lot of awful names out there. I think I've discovered the true issue at heart here:
Its getting harder and harder to get names with odd punctuation and deliberate misspellings.
Luckily, for us creative types, the good names remain largely undisturbed. -
Quote:There's also the whole, "It's inappropriate to speculate on this sort of thing, here."I guess my problem with this concept is that it assumes that NCSoft would turn development of a City of Heroes 2 over to a different developer than Paragon Studios. Of the sequel titles NCSoft has funded the development of, specifically Lineage II and Guild Wars 2, both were developed by the development houses that created the original games in the first place. Ergo, there is no precedent to suggest that NCSoft would look to build or fund a separate development house for a sequel title.
I do not believe that F.Grubb has announced who picked him up, but there are a couple of rumors on where he's gone.- some say that C.Bruce over at Infogrames managed to work a deal that F.Grubb couldn't pass up.
- some say S.O.E. offered F.Grubb a deal he couldn't pass up.
- some say that EA headhunted F.Grubb for either Mythic or Bioware.
If it helps, I've talked to your "F. Grubb" and you're wrong on all accounts. -
Oh, you people and your quaint little categories.*
