Obviously you're not playing my empathy defender. *cough*

Anyways, I thought there'd be more discussion of the character unique enhancements. *looks around* Huh.

And how do you explain away "the buffs from sets stack up to 5 times" if your interpretation is correct? No clarification needed. If you have 5 powers that will take a set you can have 5 copies of the set.

    [/ QUOTE ]
I'm almost certain that means that you can have the same buff from up to five different sets and they'll stack.

As to the original question, though, I'm not sure whether you can slot more than one of a specific set enhancement (in different powers) or just one per character. I'll try to find out from the good Doctor.

    [/ QUOTE ]

If a power qualifies to take a set, you can slot that set into that power, no matter if you already have that set (or parts of that set) slotted into another power.

Yes, a Thugs/Dark MM can slot Edict of the Master 5 times.

Now to be fair there are SOME Enhancements that are marked as Unique. This means you can only have ONE of that Enhancement slotted in your entire character. These Enhancements give generally a better bonus than if they were stackable (because they are not stackable), but the bonus is not as good as if you had stacked 2 or more of this Enhancement. In other words if a Set Enhancement gave a +10% Hypothetical bonus, the Unique version would be around +15%. Not as good as 2 of them, but still better than one.

Currently, no more than one Enhancement in a set is marked as Unique, but that is subject to change during testing. And only around 10 or so Enhancements (total) are currently marked as Unique.

    So...ten character-unique enhancements. Interesting.
  3. ((AH!!! Nice return of a favorite character, Heroid. ))

  5. Well, seeing as my post went by the wayside again--I'll address the newest topic. I can't get nukes or shivans, either. Again, I'm just trying to put things in perspective--but why am I going to be nerfed if I can't solo anything--can't do mayhems, can't do safeguards, can't get nukes, and can't get shivans. Again, I think all this discussion is a bit skewed and premature.
  6. There seems to be an awful lot of...erm...passionate words being thrown around in here. Ultimus is VERY GOOD at what he does. I, in posting that I can't do safeguards or mayhems, was attempting to illustrate that, well--apparently I'M NOT.

The point is, there are a variety of ways to play the game. It's rather premature, IMO, to base any changes solely on how Ultimus plays.

PS, I'm still taking advice on safeguard and mayhem missions.
  7. I can't even complete a safeguard or mayhem mission. You see what I have to put up with? *walks out of bar*
  8. All the red and green in this thread...it's like Christmas. *cries*

    MeeP!!

If anyone can get shivans and nukes, how can it be unbalanced?

    [/ QUOTE ]
    *sigh*
I have extreme difficulty getting Shivans, and I've *never* been able to get a nuke. They seem pretty balanced to me. :/
  10. Wait...pizza and dew can go bad? I wonder if that's what happened to my secretary...

    Thanks, Castle!

    That video...those people are [censored].
  12. And, with all these buggy bits, I still think they're too hard.
  13. When you push the "Set Title" button at the bottom, you're done until next time. If you look at the bottom, you should see something like, "Your title will appear as follows:"

Check that out for assistance, and good luck at 45.
  14. Odd. Even with my dramatic failure stats, I've never experienced that before. What map was this on? How big was your team? Did anyone move from the zone-in area before the rest of the team had arrived? How long did you have to wait for your teammates?

In my experience, you have a few minutes before the bank robbery starts. And then you fail it.

  16. I just heard, from over on the badge forums, that pillbox captures give badge credit to the entire team now--instead of just the single player who captures them.

Why am I bringing this up here? Because if they apply this same code to the mayhem and safeguard missions--and give side-mission credit to the entire team instead of one person--I will gladly concede and withdraw my complaints!

And I'll look to team with YOU, Mr.-never-fails-a-SMG/MM in the future.
  17. Thanks for the backup, Tempest, and ThisIsIt. I concede the point, readily, that some players and some AT's can solo these just fine. My point is that I'm trying to determine where the average player, average AT, and average build falls. And thus far, I think these are way too hard.

I can't beat a Dark Ring Mistress, let alone with her associates. I can't beat the bank crew. (It happened once, I'm one for five or six.)

I've said it before. I have played my level 50 defender since April of '04. I raid my SG base of all the Tier 3 inspirations. I fire off Eye of the Magus. I just can't do these missions.

I think the "average" player should be able to finish these, even if they do it badly.
  18. I have to disagree, respectfully, on this one Venture. I've attacked, and had them run off with the orange numbers flying off their heads as they disappear in the distance. I know that you're really good at CoX--but I still find Safeguards (and Mayhems) near impossible to complete. Normally I consider my CoX aptitude as "average"...maybe I should lower it to below-average. :/
  19. ((Jeebus, Heroid. Even when you started dropping the clues about the thorn daggers, I didn't pick up on it. This is amazing. ))
  20. The story arc icon may be randomly popping up. My teammate and I were doing missions for Timothy Raymond of Nerva Arch. in CoV. As seen on Red Tomax's site. We duoed the elimination of Kit'Vul, and received the icon after completing the kidnapping of the Crey Scientists. We realized something was up when he was given Thornbird, and I was given Timothy's sister. We completed his Thornbird, where he recieved Timothy's sister. We duoed that one, and I received Thornbird. We completed *that* one, and both of us recieved Save the Arachnos Lab.

This was a play-by-play of our first night with Timothy. We haven't yet gotten to wiping out the Rikti--which is the start of the ACTUAL story arc.

can be used every 25 minutes

[/ QUOTE ] But if you have hasten, accelerate metabolism, adrenaline boost, speed boost, etc. it's much MUCH faster. I've seen some blasters fire the Magus between every other mob. Have you ever seen a blaster that is nearly invulnerable to damage!?
  22. Caesar et al., my empath has two single target ranged attacks (plus Sands of Mu), one snipe, and two aoe dot's. What I usually do is get to the door of the bank as fast as I can. The map is covered with Malta that have no problems seeing through any invisibility, and their aggro range and attack range is *tremendous.* Pop a bunch of purple/orange, yellow, and red inspirations, and jump inside.

The general spawn is three minions in the inner bank, so I immediately immob. them and start dot-ing. Somewhere in there is a lieutenant--usually hiding. Once I find them, I start single-target attacks on them, and keep aoe/immob. on the mob. I just keep whittling and waiting--because I can't defeat these guys any faster. Company will be there soon.

Once the robber and his one or two cronies run into *that* mess, I eat the rest of my inspirations, fire eye of the magus, and then try and keep all seven+ guys' attention on me. Usually by now someone has snuck out the door and I get an instant "mission failed" (isn't there supposed to be a dash to the getaway vehicle?)--or the villain has me dead by then.

If I die, they scatter all over the map and I can't find any of them. :P I mean--I have a high-level regen scrapper, so I can totally see him *creaming* all of these guys with no problem at all. But balance-wise, it's nearly impossible for my defender. These should be tweaked a bit, or the badge credit (for folks who care) should be SHARED.

As for me, I'm 1 for 5 on safeguards.

The CoH shared mission completion only works if you both have the same mission and received it from the same contact. This also applies to normal missions.

True, but I didn't actually *have* any scanner missions at the time. I ran four or so on a team, and half of them counted for one detective, half for the other.

I've had this happen with all sorts of things on the SGM maps. Often times it happens with the guys holding hostages in place--and then they won't help as they're still "held." Still, if that's not what is happening--I think we've enough evidence that things are sufficiently buggy anyways.
  24. [ QUOTE ]
i'd hate to see these made so easy people can solo them on invincible with no iota of challenge.

    [/ QUOTE ]
I agree with you completely, I do. But my thing is this:
    [ QUOTE ]
but if you can't take an lt. even with inspirations and such

    [/ QUOTE ]
I nearly soloed my empath to 50...so I'd like to think it's at least a half-competent build. And I raided my SG vault and filled my tray with tier-three inspirations. And I fired my Eye of the Magus. And i still died against an even-con lieutenant (yellow). Top that off with the fact that my AOE's don't seem to matter at all. The villains scatter, and each runs off to the getaway car in a different direction. It's not fun. And if I can't cut *that*...well, maybe I need to decrease my difficulty below heroic somehow.
    *shrugs*
  25. The villains at the bank? Sometimes, they don't stop running. No matter how many times you attack them, they just don't stop. At least half a dozen guys, two of them lieutenants--and one with all the powers of a standard hero/villain. And then they each run in a different direction. I can't see how that is supposed to work.
    :/
