Quote:Castle, with all due respect, we're all pretty much aware of this. Again with respect, what it doesn't answer are our actual questions. Namely, a reason why the markets will not be merged, as well as what happens to character inventory (specifically inf.) during such a transition, and whether or not the three (4) factions will be capable of trading with each other, ever.If you go all the way from Villain through Rogue to Hero, then you can use WW. Conversely, a Hero who goes all the way to Villain can only use the BM.
I can just see teaming with a Hero, a Villain, a Rogue, and a Vigilante on a LGTF, and NONE of us can trade insps. -
Good to know! I have a large collection of music and pictures, along with a few movies, that are hogging all the space. So, back to the beginning! I have my eyes on an a few different external Western Digital drives. The comments repeatedly mention, "Too bad you have to back it up so often" and other similar things.
Is this just in case the drive dies? How likely is that? Half these comments read like I'm buying something with a terminal illness. -

Quote:Wow, chalk me up to being a retard, then.Nah... I think you are not giving credit where credit is due here. At this point in time challenge is non-existant except for the LRSF and STF. Everything else can be done without much effort. Its the players that are complete retards that are having a harder time completing these tfs and such in a reasonable amount of time. Because of the way they choose to award merits there is no reason to do more than the minimum for each mission. So at this point there is no reason why stuff should take forever to do.
What'd my empath do to you anyways? -
Quote:If Emperor Cole was smart, he wouldn't be picking a fight with "Primal" Earth. For a while there's certainly going to be a clash between legacy content and Going Rogue content.
Since a Hero's hero arc makes Praetoria out to be the dimension of the 'evil goatee' variety but the GR content will make it out to be the 'oppressive ruling elite with superpowers doing it for the good of humanity' variety.
I still find the idea intriuging that potentially Primal Earth could screw up Praetoria more than just suddenly having an influx of good/evil super powered beings. Stuff tends to follow us through portals, Nemesis will see a dimension without him and ego wouldn't let that stand, after all, every dimension deserved the right to a real benevolent ruler. The Freakshow (and almost every other level 40-50 foe) have broken into Portal Corp before and muscled their way to a new universe, what's to stop them now?
Malta are NOT going to like the idea of Praetoria, since it's their worst fear realised, so I can imagine detachments of Malta being snuck in to set up new cells there and take out any super powered being they can.
Basically we're bring a whole heap of trouble with us through the portal and possibly making Praetoria a battleground for more than just the Resistance and Tyrant... -
Quote:I think it's important to make a distinction between the average player and the players capable of making the completion times you have listed. I have no doubt that a fully-IOd and well-versed player on a similarly equipped and mercilessly coordinated team could power through new GR content without much trouble. Most of this game's content can be sped through. 22 minute ITFs, 40 minute STFs, 24 minute LGTFs, 30 minute RSFs, etc. I doubt this switch will be very difficult. Will the intention be to make it difficult? Possibly. Will it be easy? Probably.
We'll have to wait and see.
As for me, and for many others in the playerbase, a TF is a difficult and time-consuming undertaking. -
Quote:Wow, and I thought they'd come up with a way to make Tyrant really despicable. I've seen the other suggestions in the thread that Emperor Cole never married into the Richter family. It's an interesting and believable take, but good luck to them retconn'ing it out while trying to explain why Dominatrix is Ms Liberty's doppleganger.
It's going to be a whole lot of weird either way. We've had five years of PRAETORIA IS EVIL GOATEE LAND. Now we're getting, IF IT WEREN'T FOR THE BENEVOLENCE OF EMPEROR COLE etc. Even the art is crazy. Tyrant looks bathat loopy in his gold digs, but very suave in his kicking Armani. In the comics, he always seems to be yelling and eye-popping.
Or is this another of those things, like his feud with Recluse, that Statesman has directly caused through mutual provocation...and dragged us all along for the ride again? -
Quote:She is. Bella is in a few of the GR shots from HeroCon. I am pumped.Don't know if anyone has said this, but... I think it was Matt Miller (Posi) who answered a very similar question to this, specifically about Ghost Widow, by saying...
Well, Ghost Widow probably wouldn't have died in Praetoria. I think Belladonna Vetrano would make an excellent member of the Resistance.
I didn't put quotes around it because it isn't exact, but it is awfully close. -
Why would I hate benevolent Emperor Cole? He keeps me safe.
-
My methodology has always been Sands of Mu, whichever weapon gives the origin bonus, and then the Undead Slaying Ax. The first two are huge boosts to low level characters with few attacks. The Ax is just gravy for whenever you encounter pesky undead, throughout the game.

Ultra mode is ultra mode.
Er, one of the things revealed last weekend was a graphics overhaul to the entire game. The cool twist is, the game remains playable for everyone else at the same minimum system requirements. If you have a new compy, though, you can switch ultra mode on and it looks like a brand new 2010 MMO. -
Hrm, so data transfer over USB 2.0 is comparable to a SATA line?
-
As has been openly suggested by the devs, it was love that made things fall out the way they did. Monica Richter basically picked Marcus Cole over Stefan Richter, and things happened the way they did. Well, let's see here...Cole kills Richter at the Well of the Furies, right? And goes on to take over what is left of the world with his meritocrazy? (Deliberate.) I'm going to take a wild stab that he never married Monica.
My assumption, now, is that Dominatrix (or whatever her Praet name is) may well be the daughter of Miss Liberty...but is very unlikely to be the granddaughter of Emperor Cole. -
Thanks so much, everyone, for all the feedback. It's sounding like the best thing for me to do is grab a SATA PCI card, drop it in; and grab an internal SATA, and drop it into an external enclosure. That'll give me decent storage, as well as fast access speeds.
-I didn't see any external hard drives that supported SATA.
-I saw a few different kinds of SATA PCI cards--this is an area I know nothing about navigating, RAID what?
More thanks! -
Thanks all for all the suggestions and help. I know I'd be better off building a new compy from scratch, but the money just isn't there. I can, however, justify a hundred bucks or few to draw out the life of this thing. I've ramped the RAM up to the max it'll hold, and swapped the disc drives a few times so I'm not afraid of the inside of it.
I appreciate the idea of USB for mobility for Some Day when the new compy comes--but won't I be sacrificing drive access-speed unless I go via the SATA connect?
So...back to the original plan? External hard drive that connects via USB? Any advantage/disadvantage to getting one that already comes in an external case vs. a naked one and grabbing an enclosure? -
Happens to me all the time. The trick I'm most looking forward to is the, "You've defeated more than 90% of the mobs on the map" auto-highlight of all glowies and mobs on the map. This feature is still upcoming, though. :/
Currently, it's "retrace my steps ad nauseum until I go crazy and ring for support." -
Quote:Love you, man, but why are you dignifying threads like this with a response?Uhm...standard code rant?
It will be possible for a Hero to become a Villain and a Villain to become a Hero. Rogue and Vigilante are the grey areas between those two extremes. They have the flexibility to move between both sides, team up, and play through the content, but can only use the market on their 'side' until they complete the transition. -
Quote:I've got all the backstory ready for all my heroes that are going bad.I think that several of my heroes will walk over the line to the Rogue Isles just to see what it's like. Get some different badges, try my hand at the RSF, stuff like that.
They may not stay there, but I do think we will see a jump in "hero tourism." -
Quote:That would be very very bad. People would just stop listing expensive items on the market and start listing them on the boards. If you aren't on one of the high pop servers your ability to buy and price paid would be even worse.
This^^^. Heck, leading up to the price cap patch, I would just buy all the good stuff off the market for cheap, and then sell it exorbitantly on my server. Watch the supply of rare stuff disappear, as folks with the money hoard it all, and then dole it out at 10x the prior going rate. Demand sets the prices both on the CH, and off of it. -
It's been even more fun for your investors.
I don't think I learned a great deal, but I appreciated the weekly updates and enjoyed keeping an eye on all the totals. I'm still looking for a better understanding of how the markets in CoX operate, in relation to player trends. If you or anyone else is ever interested in running another scheme, I've certainly got the money to burn. Congrats on the final upcoming week! -
I'm starting a new SG that is only open to people living between Mohawk and Seminole, and north of Eighth Street to the Lake.

What Bill said, mostly. From the sounds of it, it'll be I17 for the sync, unless they can fit anything (IE the graphics upgrade) in beforehand. Which would, to an extent, already involve cutting it off of the main body and independently beta testing. It's probably easiest if they just leave it all as one big lump and wait to test next spring.

You all are awesome. So what I need is an internal EIDE hard drive and an external USB connect enclosure. So here's my next issue--nothing on Newegg says "EIDE." The closest I can find is "IEEE."
Quote:If I search the site specifically for EIDE hard drives, it basically says it doesn't have any. (Bearing in mind I might not be looking in the right way.) They do have cables that indicate as being EIDE/SATA adapters.eSATA2010150414 1035921831 (3)

This^^^. I have my own reasons for wanting the markets merged, but nothing will keep me from my precious villains. In addition, the current RP reason for the merger, or against it, is ludicrous. I don't have a problem with an RP reason for the markets to be separated, so long as it makes sense. This one doesn't.
