There is already a system for in-game ads. It may even be dead, considering. On my own, however, I'd much rather the dev's put money towards game stuff than tv ads.
-
You can also use your character bio or self-note to keep track of your defeats.
-
And the next billion after that. Nice work!

Not really a necro, but this thread ain't fresh any more.

Quote:Well, I'd like to address first of all, those flaming me. As per usual in any forum you post something like this, you're bound to get flamed/trolled.. I chock it up to being on the internet, people with anonymity act like punks. To those flamers, well.. Get a life and get over yourselves..
To the positive responses, I really appreciate them.
To the constructive but not entirely positive responses, I appreciate your honesty as well.
To those that disagree say I'm a 'doom sayer', et cetera, I'd say.. Don't think this is being blown entirely out of proportion. 100k may be a successful MMO but it's still pretty low. I'm not even comparing CoH to WoW, just MMO's in general. I mean take into consideration the fact that a game like.. oh.. RuneScape boasts more members ( Paying members, mind you. Subscribers. ) than CoH and I call it a bit disheartening. It may be because RuneScape being a java-based game is a convenient alternative to games requiring somewhat high end machines but I still find it a little disheartening.
I'm just concerned for the future of this game. You may think it's an unfounded concern and give me so many reasons why you think it is, but the fact of the matter is, I am concerned. I feel I have valid reasons and I just want to read objective views on this subject. I'm getting them, but.. I feel some could perhaps use a 'chill pill'.
If we agree, we're bestest buds.
If we disagree, we're trolling/flaming punks that can't get over ourselves.

Gibb, I'm going to say this one last time: Everyone gets GR beta. It goes in waves, and everyone gets to beta it. I won't be first. Even though I've been playing since April of '04, participated in the loyalty program, and will be pre-ordering GR. You won't be first, either. EVERYONE gets GR beta.
Quote:Yes it has. You're the only one that brought "real life" into this. Similarly, you're the only one telling people that they've never had it as tough as you.Account: Created On:Jun 9, 2009 You dismiss life is hard stories because your life has never been "hard"
Quote:Anyway, I still made my payments where applicable and because of something Out of my direct control (AKA The dates I get paid) I was unable to pay on the 26th because it came before my usual payment day (Wendsday) in October.
Quote:Something I stated way far back but yet you trolls like to nit-pick parts of the message that have nothing to do with the end result..
I'm done.
If you want us to interfere or dish advice, okay then: It sounds like things are rough right now. We all appreciate some good escapism...but I would put CoX out to pasture until you've got things back under control. Speaking as someone who was suddenly laid off for several months after the company explosively took all their money and skipped out of town--there are priorities in life, and CoX wasn't that high on my list.
In short, good luck either way. Hope to see you in game. -
With all respect, we didn't volunteer these items as collateral for meriting a badge awarded in a loyalty program.
-
I appreciate that you have made sacrifices for this game that make you more loyal than someone who just paid their account for three months--but that was the RULES of this whole program: keep account active for X months. You don't have to think of it as a loyalty program if you don't want to. Right or wrong, that is the name the incentive program was given.
And really, are you suggesting that the program was deliberate constructed to discriminate against people who smoke? -
I'm sure that the cross-server markets share their lag on every server.
-
Well, we know the official cutoff time now, too. If your account was inactive for longer than 24 hours, then you don't qualify.
As to the earlier poster(s)--it's not flaming, complaining, witching, or semantics. You asked a question. If your account wasn't active...then it wasn't active. You may have a personal opinion on "inactive" meaning the same thing as "active," but the rules and CS appear to disagree. Whether you actively quit the game, or passively did by not paying your subscription in any way shape or form for longer than 24 hours, you were inactive. -
If a light isn't "continuously on," it's "off."
With respect, if an account isn't "continuously active," it's "inactive." -
-
There is also my favorite point brought up so far:
Quote:You expected a loyalty badge for quitting CoX and playing another game?or maybe they just went off to play another game
Okay, check, roger wilco. -
Quote:With all respect, you're wrong. The badge has nothing to do with veterans, and little to do with the beta. It has EVERYTHING to do with people having "money issues" or "personal issues." In fact, that was the only rule for the badge. Yes, it's a loyalty program with loyalty badges, and yes my 66 months of vet badges carry more weight for me personally than one "loyalty" badge--but the badge really WAS awarded only to people "who paid for three months."It's not about getting Beta Access, its about veteran people who got screwed out of the badge simple because of money issues, personal issues or maybe they just went off to play another game.
Veteran people are the loyal people, not people who pay for these three months.
No doubt, it's an improper measurement for loyalty. Don't look at it like one. -
Quote:I thought I'd feel dirty...but I don't.Just keep in mind that every recipe they drop (aside from common IOs and purples) will be level 49 instead of 50.
Your drop rate will be higher because you're killing stuff faster, but the level 49 uncommon and rare recipes that are dropped will very likely be worth less money to the majority of other players at auction. All the 49's I have were vendor trash anyways, and three purples from one three-mission arc.

Have you ever tasted a wild Dumpleberry before?

Quote:I don't disagree that it's a silly little badge awarded for doing pretty much nothing. I disagree that it's worth getting so worked up over. I have yet to see or hear of someone being officially denied the badge. Seems like CS is sorting through the people that the script didn't catch as best as they are able. I don't know what to tell folks that didn't follow the directions.I am going to get this off my chest and come and say this, the Loyalty program was a joke.
Further, for those concerned about the beta, a reminder:
Quote:- Tier One: City of Heroes Veterans with 60+ months of paid time.
- Tier Two: Loyalty Program players
- Tier Three: Players who Pre-Order Going Rogue (Preorder details to be announced at a later date)
- Tier One: City of Heroes Veterans with 60+ months of paid time.
-
Was CoP ever really on the CoV box?
Was that the only reason people played CoV? -
I changed banks, accounts, and credit cards in the middle, and still got it. And even if I didn't, and a thoroughly executed CS escalation showed that I did not deserve it, it still wouldn't be enough to quit the game.
If all it takes to quit the game is a single badge, that you do absolutely nothing to earn outside of paying your bill on time (which some folks are apparently having issues with), then maybe CoX just isn't a good fit. There are far more challenging badges to earn than this one.
