Oh, no doubt. I would certainly love a Praet code.

And yeah, depending on people's situation, there are different financial/etc. obligations. But thems the breaks. If people live next door to the Con hall with a surplus of cash in their pockets, they won't have much trouble.

So what? Do people seriously expect Positron to visit every single subscriber with a goodie-bag, a preview of GR, and a hug? Have some personal accountability people. I've said I'd like to see more NCSoft events, and events outside of CA, but I'm not crying a river because I suffer emotional duress from not attending the con.
  2. But you could take time off from school, and get a second job. It's none of my business, but I'm just making a blanket example. I could take time off of work and save up money over the year. It wouldn't be very hard. I just don't want to put the effort into it.

That's why I'm interested in seeing an East-coast con. I can put less work into it.

As an aside, as a UK native, did you attend any of the Brighton events?
  3. It's not a freaking punishment.

And if you think it is one, you need to reexamine your priorities in life.

NCSoft can give out the codes however they feel like. They're not brain dead to tuck it into a goodie bag. That's the point of an incentive. Frankly, I'm tired of hearing people say that cons are being held solely to spite people who can't afford it or can't take the time off. How do you live in life, walking down the street, and seeing people with better clothing or cars than you?

The pre-order helmets were an exclusive item, true. But they weren't a pay item, and it's up to NC to decide what they want to do with them. It doesn't automatically equate them to costume codes.

"Let's get realistic," you said. You also said this:
    Quote:
I do think that the devs and publisher need to look at solutions to make those costume parts available to players who simply can't go to cons, and have no desire to participate in lotteries they have no realistic chance of winning.
No effort. No participation. No interest.

Why exactly do you merit a costume code?
  4. What Father said. You can't. The fraud problems with codes floating around were too much, so now it's all handled on an immediate and "account-internal" basis.

Absolutely not. I don't want the code I'm salivating for given to random Atlas RMT PLing riffraff who've never heard of Paragon City.

Holy crap, what a bunch of scumbags. If you're interested I have some empty boxes of Ferraris for sale.

There are no conditions for the give away other than being first. Anyone can be first. In fact, if this was an actual contest, they wouldn't be able to run it so smoothly. You know, like no one from Rhode Island could participate. Luckily, it's just a give away, so anyone can be first.

    It's entirely fair.

And what the heck are you talking about, re: scripts? You seriously think there is an auto "browse twitter/boards, cut picture, login to plaync account, paste text" program out there?

  9. Also, remember that you're looking for an intact account code. Not a five year old scratched compact disc.
  10. While I would love a Praetorian code...this is a give-away, so it's perfectly equitable. I can sympathize with *WANT*, but it doesn't make the method of distribution unfair. How is missing out on a give-away unfair?

Thumbs up to having them in the store, though.
  11. Again, the mysterious CoX trial with no directions.

This is called Gambler's Ruin, and is used in biology as well.

    Game Masters

Well, I'm glad that all the other forum-goers and Mod8 have stepped in with their awesomeness. I was going to call doubts on the part of you being abused by a senior GM. Good luck.
  16. Are you familiar with statistics. Something that happens 90% of the time may never happen at all, in a given data set. Similarly, something that happens once every hundred years could happen five times in one week. It's possible, just highly unlikely.

In game terms, I did two three mission story arcs and got five purples. It was wonderful. I haven't seen a purple in a month of playing since then, and I never saw any before that.
  17. That's why I camp outside of Deebs' front door.

He's a hero. Just not to the people of Paragon.

I'm guessing somebody ran the first part of this storyarc over and over again in Flashback mode...and it was deemed an exploit, sorta like the "Welcome to Vanguard" storyarc was exploited back in the day?
But there are no merits. Sorry, 150K inf. might as well be zero. You can almost get that selling a single common recipe to a vendor.

Oh yeah. It didn't even take any thought from me, several of my characters have been rogues/vigilantes all along.

Catwhoorg the character, I can safely say will not fall. Even if it means that hundreds of badges are firmly out of his grasp, he will not do so.
Darn straight. My main of mains will never fall. He's not the typical hero, but he's neither villain or rogue.

Are we making a big assumption here? Was this really why it was yanked? Personally, I thought it was damn strange that it was the only Ouro arc that rewarded zero merits.
I was just making a guess. I can't think of any other reason why it would be removed.
  22. There is going to be a crapload more than that. Marketing is just keeping a lid on things, so there isn't much to talk about yet. At the very least, there are new zones, villain groups, stories, badges, and powersets. You are not going to pay $50 for a new tutorial.
  23. OOC: It's a level-based carrot reward.

IC: Because you actually have to earn your cape. Considering the sacrifice of Omega Team, it's seen as especially disrespectful for every craptacular joker who registers as a hero at City Hall to fly a dishtowel. Wearing a cape is a fashion statement, sure, but it's a loaded one. I'm a real hero, honest.

Alternately, you actually have to earn your cape. Considering that any two-bit criminal can call themselves the Master of Evil, it takes a particularly vile individual to go into the Big City and choke some half-wit hero to death with their own cape. Wearing a cape is a fashion statement, sure, but it's a loaded one. I am a badass. Look at me and die.
