That came out following the website reveal and press releases, also in early...May.
Hero Con had the most information...but that was for us. Unless I'm missing something, and I very much hope for someone to correct me--there hasn't been any GR publicity for more than eight months. -
The evidence is that we are still alive. None of those cars survived, and luckily there were no witnesses.

You don't get any reward, other than satisfaction and a badge, from defeating the various villain groups in the game.
The Master Illusionist badge does count towards Archmage, though, an accolade badge and power that temporarily boosts your defense through the roof. Helpful in "oh crap!" situations, or temp-tanking.
And the Master Illusionist badge is exponentially easier than it used to be.
