I could get behind this. Lack of regular merits is pretty much the limiting factor on burning my inf. into purple merits. And since purple merits are so much more valuable, I finally have a chance of getting all my wealth on a single character...if I had a lot of regular merits. :/

I'm sorry, I wasn't aware that there was some sort of restriction on walking into a Went's/BM and clicking on an NPC.

Correct. Once you get your patron's badge you should be set. Make sure the arc is good and done--I've seen some reports of old story arcs from one side blocking on the other side.
  4. Simple convenience, which is partially derived from the stigma of the market in general.
  5. I've seen people in the past say that converting inf. to prestige is "cheating." I don't see how, but considering the earlier sentiment that it was a perma-bannable offense in the CoX-verse--it would appear that a wide gulf of perspective exists.

When they introduced SGs and prestige to the game, everyone I know was converting inf. to get a headstart. Later, it became a common practice to obtain just enough funds to get that big SG piece of equipment, or quickly pass ahead of someone in the SG listings.

How did it become cheating now?

Or does that only apply to us?

    LONG EDIT:

Also, since we've been talking about missioning and running some TFs with each other (things no REAL SG would EVER DO!) I wonder if some strange third party would consider THAT cheating as well? Frankly speaking, there are multitudes of SG/VGs out there with their own focus. RP SGs, PvP SGs, RPvP SGs, badgers, M/ERP, TFs only, etc. Somehow we're less viable as a SG just because our focus is playing with ephemeral and flowing in-game currency?

But the new Alignment merit system changed all that for me.

With what I consider to be a minimum of effort (like 15-30 minutes a day) I've earned somewhere in the neighborhood of 1.5 billion INF since the beginning of I18/GR by selling crafted recipes I get from buying random recipes with Alignment Merits. I figure I could've earned maybe twice that much if I'd been super-serious about it. There's no real need to change the drop rates of recipes when you can earn enough INF to buy pretty much any recipe you want in a few days' time.

    Good luck to you regardless...
Thanks for posting this, Loth. I was going to comment on how easy it was to make inf. in the game, but it turns out that I've earned the enmity of some forum-goers for talking about how easy it is to make inf. so often. Now that I'm outright deleting it for fun, some folks are really upset.

It is ridiculously easy to make inf. in this game. I've probably earned nearly ten or so purples in just a few short evenings of play since they were introduced--not too shabby if I may say so! But the inf. earnings I also generated in that time allowed me to purchase dozens of them off the market. YMMV, but it's not that hard.

I mean, are you really doing this JUST to piss off people? If so, you're going to achieve it quite easily. And I'm sure you don't care because this game doesn't mean the same thing to you as it does to most of the players in the top SGs. But hey, nothing I can say will do anything to change your mind, and I'm sure you're actually going to be feeding off of this...

To sum it up... I don't like it. It's being done specifically to prove that INF doesn't mean anything and you want to burn it away. I just don't like it. It makes me wonder why I even play this game if there are people out there that are specifically trying to piss people off. I realize that people don't like Unknown Heroes. I realize people don't like EverStryke. I realize that the marketeers don't like RPers. But why? WHY must you do this? It just makes me feel bad. I play the game to have fun, and I like seeing the numbers go up just for playing the game. I am going to be quite disheartened to see you at #1... But like I said, nothing a 5 month veteran with 40-some-odd posts can say will change anything on your mind. I just figure I need to put my thoughts out here... You won't hear anyone else in my SG say anything because they're not a part of the forums... I guess it's stupid for me to even care, but whatever... I don't want this to seem like a rant, so much as just opening my thoughts. A rant would be me getting angry. I'm just a little... upset. I wish you guys the best though, and I hope you enjoy your newfound way to burn off extra INF. I just wish it wasn't Virtue... I guess...
Nothing you're saying makes any sense to me. Also, I'm a full-time roleplayer on Virtue. It's my home server. I have six years of RP invested in it.

    Let me quickly dissect this:

I'm not doing anything illegal, I'm not spitting in anyone's face, I'm not doing it to "piss people off," I DO care what people think, I'm not deriving lulz from your post, I think I'm entitled to spend my in-game rewards how I please, again not trying to piss people off, I see you are pulling the Veteran card--are my opinions more or less viable than yours because of my higher post count but earlier reg date--or isn't that irrelevant, and yes you're entitled to your own opinion.

    Did I get them all?

Maybe I'm being blind about it, but I'm still just playing the game and having fun. I'm not deliberately griefing anyone, any SG has a right to exist and generate as much prestige as they want--no one is stopping them.

Now imagine repeating that process 3 times in a row, before finally getting the less broken AV, and being able to defeat it, and get your reward of 6 (or 10) merits, and you'll have seen a totally new level of 'awesome'...
    Hello yes.

    Organizing teams: Two hours.
Stage One of the Trial: Two minutes.
Stage Two of the Trial: Oh hey, it's the purple boss who can't be damaged. No choice but to enter Stage Three...
Stage Three: Wait 58 minutes for the timer to run out.

Ell-oh-ell. All of my prestige is generated through honest, hardworking means. Whether I killed a bunch of guys, or crafted and sold stuff and converted the inf. to prestige--it's still stuff that came from killing doodz. Even if I earned the inf. solely from investing in the market, it would still be inf. I earned from playing the game.

With respect, (and not at all directed at you, O) we have just as much of a right to have a SG, base, and shiny prestige total as any group of players playing the game.

... actually, as far as prestige, I'm virtually certain that the ranking is based on total, not available.

  15. So...this will be announced and implemented fairly soon?

I'm going to be doing a little experiment with Capitalist- seeing how much prestige he can generate with an absolute minimum of leveling.
So is there some other way that I can contribute with Lucre? I could always level-lock him or something.

That's more than you'll make getting all the other crafting badges. The easiest way to get the badges is by crafting empowerments buffs in a base, and at three ingredients per buff that chews through a fair amount of salvage in a short space of time.
I still found scoring 10,000 easier by making enhancements than deleting stupid buffs. Enhancements will also make you money. Buying salvage to basically delete it only burns it.
  20. Congrats on the Loyal Opposition, also--thanks for giving birth to the 88s.

Stabilizing and lowering prices for the lulz, my good man.

Lucre needs a new costume. I think I will up my contributions again tonight. So fun talking to everyone.
