Yeah, since a fair amount of people missed that, a summon demons powerset is in the works too. Probably just for MMs, but maybe they'll work it in with a Control set, hard to say.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Honestly, I would love it if summoned demons could be customizable pets for Fire Control. If I could swap out those ridiculous flaming Rikti Monkeys for demons, I would take a serious look at playing a Fire Controller or Dominator.

    "Millionaire Playboy"

Seriously. One of my character has more money than most countries, and he only 'plays' super hero because he's an arrogant rich snot.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    This.

Actually, one of my characters is a Mild-mannered Freelance Billionaire Playboy.

    [/ QUOTE ]

As opposed to the aggressive Billionaire Playboys who work in the Billionaire Playboy division of multinational conglomerates. I hear Deloitte-Touche-Tohmatsu's BP department is a really cushy setup.
  3. Who any of the Vanguard signature heroes are.
    Who Ms. Liberty's father is.

    What about Night Widows smoking?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Nah, doesn't sound menacing enough. It sounds like a bunch of Night Widows hanging out around the corner of the Arbiter's tower, puffing away on cancer sticks and [censored] about that one slutty Fortunata in Accounting who's trying to advance her career by getting into Black Scorpion's armored codpiece.

    [/ QUOTE ]
...I think whatsername, his girlfriend would spear her before she got anywhere near him...

    [/ QUOTE ]

After which the topic of the next meeting of the nicotine club would be how awful that eyepatch goes with the Fortunata helmet. She could have at least put a sequined pastie over it and tried to add some pizzazz to the ensemble. Fashion-challenged [censored]!

    They do exist!

    [ QUOTE ]

    Mutant - ?
    Natural - ?
    Magic - Red Cap, Demon
    Technology - Clockwork, Robot
Science - Rikti Monkey (I guess, but it could also go under Technology)

    [/ QUOTE ]
Maybe spoiler, but a low level one.

Clockwork are not really robot, they are pile of junk metal looking like robot that are extension of the clockwork king mind. So it technically doesn't make more sense than a redcap. the list of pet per origin(and not archetype) would look like that :

    Magic : Demon
Mutant : Clockwork(since they are animated by the psychic power of their mutant king.)
Natural : Gnome(Just call them normal gnome and consider that they are a natural hidden race of earth.)
    Science : Rikti Monkey
    Technologie : Mekman

    [/ QUOTE ]

The Clockwork are still Technology origin, as anyone starting the game out as a Technology hero will tell you. They are still hunks of scrap metal cobbled into robotic shapes; they owe nothing to inborn genes that code for super powers. It is the Clockwork King alone who is Mutation origin.

And the Redcaps, like everything else that is native to Croatoa, are Magical.
  7. Duck Dim Sum

    They do exist!

I think my Stormie is going to get the Mek Man. Then I'll say he found it in place of a cowering human hostage in a mission, and decided to keep it.

if you look at the new spawn compisitions in AP and GC you will notice that there are a few contaminated in gemini park (i think that is the name, the one by perez gateway), I don't know if they count towards the badge and they are not there all the time but while flying through the zone I found one once.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Those are not Contaminated. Those are Infected. Contaminated can only be found in Outbreak and the train station in Recluse's Victory. Only Contaminated, not Infected, count for the Isolator badge.
  9. I dunno, I kind of saw it at Lord Recluse exemplifying something that actually occurs in-game. My main hero was certainly part of his share of SGs that sucked and didn't cut it before getting fed up and making his own.
  10. [ QUOTE ]
Sorry, but anything involving rubber-banding the mask back to Italy where it can be lost in time for Vanessa DeVore to find it again is just lame.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Whether it's "lame" or not is of no consequence. What is important is the explanation's viability. Punch holes in how credible it is, but don't BS that it's just a "lame" possibility and not how you'd like the story to go.
  11. OR the mask was put on by some other patsy or two in this 15-year undocumented time span, and they took it back to Italy. Let's face it, Giovanna Scaldi can be quite persuasive in getting people to wear that mask, and not everyone has a hero's willpower to resist it.

That explain where the Lone Contaminated in RV came from... Somehow...

    [/ QUOTE ]

He broke free alright... broke free of the whole freaking timeline!

    [/ QUOTE ]

Contaminated...secretly the strongest group in CoH.

    [/ QUOTE ]

If Contaminated take hits of Outbreak long enough, they eventually trip so hard that they can travel through time and space.
  13. The first reference I can find - I may have missed an earlier one - is the paragraph at the bottom of page 369. Miss Liberty's name is given as "Alexis Cole".

The backstory gods have been largely ambiguous about who (if anyone) Ms. Liberty's father is - all that's been said about him is that we wouldn't believe it if/when his identity was revealed. Also ambiguous is if Miss Liberty married him and kept her own name, or married and divorced him, or is a widow, or didn't marry her daughter's father at all. His surname may be "Duncan", since that is supposedly the name that Ms. Liberty carries.

To be honest, I really thought that it was going to turn out to be Jonathan St. John-Smythe, given how he broke down at Maiden Justice's funeral and had that scene with Miss Liberty/Alexis. But they seem to just be acquaintances whose parents were friends.
  14. [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]
    There are THREE Miss Liberty(s).
    One is State's wife, Monica.
I suspect their daughter, Ms. Liberty, is Jessica.
Ms. Liberty's daughter, Miss Liberty, the Vindicator, is most likely Megan.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Monica Ricter, married to Statesman is Maiden Justice.
Their daughter is MISS Liberty - retired but still around. Don't remember her name from the book...
Their granddaughter is MS. Liberty ('MIZ'), the Vindicator. According to the book, her name is Jessica.

    [/ QUOTE ]

According to the book, Miss Liberty's real name is Alexis Cole.

In the book, Ms. Liberty's name is Jessica (which was also her name when her original background came out), but here on the forums Manticore - who is in charge of everything backstory - has said that her name is Megan.
  15. [ QUOTE ]
Even if I wasn't having to constantly restructure your sentences into real English, as opposed to whatever crazy moon language it is that you speak, I'm sure this wouldn't be funny.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Fixed.
  16. [ QUOTE ]

*snort* Okay, I don't get the reference, but I think I must hunt the books down now.

    [/ QUOTE ]

At one point, Little!Ms. Liberty draws Statesman a picture of the two of them fighting crime together. In it, she's described as wearing a costume full of bows, with a unicorn shoulder bag.
  17. I'm surprised no one's mentioned the inaccuracies with Ms. Liberty yet. In the Laws novel, she's reverted to her original name of Jessica, in spite of Manticore's claim that her first name is Megan. Additionally, she's shown manifesting superhuman strength in her childhood, whereas the current Ms. Liberty has no such powers.

And Monica Richter Cole/Maiden Justice apparently passes away in 1986 (the book does give this as the year the story is being told, several times). However, in the Top Cow comics, Lord Recluse has insinuated that she is still alive, ambiguously well, and possibly being held captive by him. Guh?

As for Positron's history, I do wish they'd pick a version and tell everyone, already. Did he have a Science-based accident prior to developing his armor or while wearing it that gave him his powers? Is he a Technology hero with powered armor that gives him his abilities? Prior to this discussion, I was led to believe that Positron came out of the Rikti War relatively unscathed, but a more recent accident damaged his armor and irradiated him, forcing him to remain inside of it full time; this was corroborated by the differences in Positron's image in the original CoH manual and his current look in-game and in the present manuals.

Also, the devs simply MUST have at least one day in which Ms. Liberty wears her alternate costume bedecked with bows and with a unicorn shoulder bag.
  18. At approximately 5:00AM CST today, Solar-Wind (Storm/Energy Defender) ascended to Security Level 50.

    You may now praise me.
  19. So I have to ask...how do the Warshades feel about being left out of the civil service?
  20. Four words, really.

    Giant. Monster. Fight. Club.

    Comic #10

The reason Manticore sticks out amongst the Freedom Phalanx, or at least, amongst folks like Statesman and Sister Psyche, isn't necessarily because he fits right into the Loner Badass stereotype peghole.

It's because he's the one sane individual on a ship of fools and weirdos, captained by El Loco Weirdo Grande himself.

Hi folks - on the Malaise issue:

The comic’s timeline puts that story well after the in-game events of the Calvin Scott Task Force. Malaise is certainly not a pure villain – let’s say he’s a complicated individual. After those events, Ms. Liberty found him and offered him a place in the Vindicators, for they are all about second chances. Yes, Malaise has done questionable things, but the Vindicators believe he can be one of the good guys.

    cheers,
    Arctic Sun

    [/ QUOTE ]

Then I demand either a story that pairs up Malaise and Aurora Borealis or a heroic trio with the both of them plus Sister Psyche. Let the reality-TV catfight commence.
  23. Statesman's very existence is a Mary Sue event. We learn to live with it anyway. Well, except for Lord Recluse, who is the most anti-Sue anti-Sue who ever anti-Sued.
  24. Very rarely, if ever, do mutants manifest powers from birth. The "conventional wisdom" dictates manifestation at puberty or the powers remaining latent until a post-adolescent, high-stress situation.

My peg was always Mutation/Defender/Empathy/Energy Blast for Galaxy Girl.

    [ QUOTE ]
There we were in Skyway standing on top the badge, with me giving the whole tour guide routine. Me: "This is Dauntless"...blah blah blah. My Friend: Rustier than I thought he would be. Me: "What?" I turn to see that she is looking away from the statue and instead at the clockwork prince that is standing next to her. "No no. Shoo shoo, you pesky thing." /em begone.

    [/ QUOTE ]

BWAH! *imagines Babbage attempting to hide from hunting heroes in Skyway by trying to blend in with the statues*
  25. [ QUOTE ]
    Nice article, Arctic.

As for the story confusion, was it possible that another by the name of Galaxy Girl was involved with the meteor?

    Edited for spelling

    [/ QUOTE ]

Ditto. While I always enjoy these little backstory-filling articles...the heck? I thought Galaxy Girl was a relatively modern hero, an Empathy/* Defender who died Absorbing Pain from her BFF Ms. Liberty during the Rikti War to save her life.
