  1. Almost off-topic now, but the only thing I think CoX really needs to make it a more perfect superhero simulator is more non-combat content, something like putting out the fires in Steel, the ski chalet or curing the Lost in the midnighter arc, only more of it (perhaps include it in the AE somehow). I would love to save a kitten from a tree someday :-)

I have tried to introduce a lot of people to the game and the one big complaint I get from the people that don't stay is "its only the same thing over and over again, fight, fight, fight".

More non-combat stuff would be nice for a change, though I know its hard
  2. I would love a summer version of the ski chalet open during july with green grass and water slides
  3. Once, when a friend tried to make me play Guild Wars, I actually used a headset and spoke to him and the guild while playing. I have never tried it in City of Heroes, mainly because my RL friend I usually play with thought it was a real stupid idea. However, lately I have seen some of my SGs advocating it and I have also seen it on a lot of WoW videos on Youtube :-)

What are your experiences with live voice chat during gameplay? In what way does it help? In what way does it hinder?
  4. Just noticed that people are farming the AE like the I16 nerf never happened (but I only noticed this on Freedom). What changed lately?

It feel like May again, Atlas Park is full of "lvl 50 stone tank LF AE" etc
  5. I don't have too many slots to spare, are you saying that if I get the MA booster and don't slot Swift or Sprint at all, then I am fairly slow?

I have seen it maybe 7 times, but it still scared me. It was mostly in the final days of Boss Farms before the I16 nerf.

It will probably keep me away from the Magic pack (and any other pack that gives me a buff power that can only be used on others).
  7. How does Ninja run compare to Superspeed?

Can I respec out of superspeed on my farmers and get by good enough on Ninja Run if I buy the MA pack?

Same result, though, as I would not push up to a 100 members without a good idea of how to get the self-sustaining growth. Which brings back the question - how do you get it?

But we are getting off-topic here. I will post a thread about this in the SG forum if I ever want to try it again
  9. I use a 32-page Excel worksheet to track what I need to track, even though I do not track Badges (don't care about them, only about accolades) or influence (have enough everywhere). But I run up to six accuonts and 450+ toons, so tracking is essential for a lot of stuff :-)
  10. I love the Magic pack costume but I would never buy that pack because I would get to hear "fortune plz" between all the cries of "SB plz"... I don't want to be a fortune teller machine as well as a coffee vending machine

Ninja Run looks very impressive, I will probably go for the MA pack as my first pack

Unfortunately, while I can see WHAT needs to happen, I can't really say HOW to manage it.
    .
I think that is where we failed. Only myself and the American I found did good recruiting and started events etc. I would love someone's advice on how to manage it, even if I don't know if I will ever muster the energy to get an SG up to 100 members again. On the other hand, I can always join a good starting SG and try to help out myself. That way I might get someone to take care of the base building, which I don't particularly care for :-) (the American did that part)

I'm on a badge channel, a farming channel, a general team channel and 4 private SG channels and there's always something going on.

FYI, I find the server friend list pretty much useless. People have too many alts. I have too many alts. The only time I use it is when on a team and someone DC's. I immediately friend them so it will tell me when they are back on.

I completely agree about the server friends list.

I have tried using the global channels but only found success on Virtue LFG Alpha (and maybe channel "Freedom"). Also, playing on all servers limits my ability to use the global channels. There is some sort of maximum on the number of channels allowed and that often leaves some servers empty. I have tried balancing this between my accounts so that I can use an alt to listen to the channel.

Which brings me to the biggest question about global channels: Which are the channels to use on each server? I have looked at the "post your global channels here" sticky, but I would still like your answers here to see what will really work right now.

So which channels should I use on which server?
  13. When is the international "No Pants Day"? I am not in the US, but I can't wait to get into the 20 below zero temperature outside here, in the snow and get a picture :-)

This. You just feel powerful doing energy blasts. To me, they feel very superheroic

Then it is obvious I did something wrong. I set up a Guild Portal site, ran weekly events, tried to be on for 6 hours a day, found an American (I am European) to run the SG along with me and cover other hours of the day. We got to about 100 members, but as soon as I switched down to being online maybe 1-2 hours every other day, things broke down in about 4-6 weeks. Now there are just 2 members that play at all that I don't know in real life.

Any tips what I could have done differently? We had three leaders: me, the American and a RL friend of mine who was on maybe an hour every three days.

Also, I envy people being able to find or form PuGs any time of the day. I find it the exception on every server besides Freedom and Virtue and I constantly friend (not global though) everyone in my PuG on any other server, only to usually never be online at the same time as they are ever again.

There are some success with finding sewer teams and maybe even KR/Hollows teams on the nine other servers, but I find it very very hard to find 20+ teams, for example on Pinnacle or Liberty.

Justice is somewhat better than the other servers, but not much.

    SG/VG Bin access

My VG still hasn't noticed this, so even though the VG message is "please take whatever you like from the bins", I can't take anything as I don't have the permission to do so :-)

That actually sounds like a real good idea.
  18. I agree with the OP. I am now an 18 month veteran with several accounts, 400+ alts, 14 lvl 50 toons but I still don't feel that I can get into any social networks in this game. When my friends who play WoW brag about their strong community, I think about switching (but then I tried and travel was soooo slow so I couldn't do it).

I have found one good SG on Freedom and one on Justice (I am on all servers).

I have tried building SGs but they break down quickly unless you commit 6+ hours per day to maintaining them.

I have found one global friend I actually care about and communicate with. I have two globals I know in real life that I play a lot with. Usually it is we three that form a PuG and do something.

Perhaps its just my altitis that prevents me from sticking around long enough with one toon to get social.

I have filled up my allowed number of channels (why so few?) on every account but I probably have the wrong ones on the low-traffic serves, only Virtue LFG Alpha and "Freedom" works for me.

When I want to play with others and not multibox, I am usually stuck on Freedom or Virtue because that is where you can find PuGs on lvl 20+ easily.

Recently, due to the free server transfers, I have changed the toons on Freedom and virtue for a refreshing change of toons to play in teams.

I play about 10-30 hrs per week, about 70% blueside, 30% redside.

What should I do to get more into the social part of the game?
  19. I have a lot more heroes than villains, but now I am playing mostly redside, just because I think the arcs there are so much more well thought out than the blueside ones.

There are some great arcs redside

I will do it almost exactly like this but I will probably wait up till 15 min if they tell me they are going AFK. Kicked someone yesterday after about 5 min that had not said anything.

I will admit that it depends on the server. I am much more forgiving on a low-traffic server where the soon-to-be-kicked-team-member is hard to replace and I will kick faster on Freedom
  21. I would love to see damage on the city and the environment. That would be insanely cool.

Perhaps combined with cleaning/repair crews of NPCs that showed up and put everything back in order after a while.

I would also love to be able to do anything that actually affected events, storyline, politics ... anything in the city. I am a little frustrated by constantly saving the world but deep within knowing that I made no difference whatsoever

  23. Samurai Farms? This sounds interesting, but I haven't seen anyone send one broadcast about this, despite being in Atlas a lot.

    So whats the mission ID?

    New Archetypes?

    Isn't new archetypes extremely unlikely?
  25. Lord Winter has hit northern Europe pretty bad too. We have about 10 inches of snow here in Sweden right now.
