I've done 30 or more trials, I'm hardly a "hermit" (what an inaccurate and poor insult to aim at people who just want options).
I made the Signature Arc suggestion in the Suggestions Forums. I hope people in this thread will check it out and comment. This is content already in the pipeline that I think could be adapted to provide myself and others with reasonable alternatives to Incarnate progression without stepping on the toes of the trials.

Quote:Then this won't work. I would think that the chances that level 50 would be included in at least some of these arcs is pretty good. I know we have limited information on the Signature Arcs, I wanted to get this idea out there to be seen.
What if none of the signature arcs are level 50 content?
Quote:I fully support this. I think the incarnate level shifts should NOT work here, though. We don't get those shifts in an Apex or Tin Mage, I see no reason to get them in soloable arcs.
Please point other people to this idea if y'all favor it.
Thanks! -
Quote:There is content currently being created that would work great for this IMO. Please see my Suggestions thread (and make suggestions if you like the premise).Which is why I suggested that some of the level 50 content get an Incarnate mode where every mob can scale to 54, and come with new tricks if necessary. Level shifts anyone?
Boom, there's you additional Incarnate content.
EDIT: Yes I know that mode will take some time to created.

Paragon has announced 3-5 mission Signature arcs that are already in the development pipeline. There's probably two or three of them already drawn up and they're already scheduled to be released monthly. Why not offer VIP's the ability to run those arcs for Incarnate XP and Incarnate rewards once every 20 hours?
Have the Signature arc contact offer an Incarnate option for arcs if the character is VIP, level 50, and if it's currently not running an Incarnate level Signature arc (note "an" not "that", you couldn't run at Incarnate level more than once every 20 hours no matter how many Signature arcs there are available). The Incarnate option runs at minimum +4/x4 and scales with the number of team members (up to 8 as normal). It awards iXP (different arcs could award different types of iXP) instead of regular XP and works with all Incarnate level shifts. At the end of the last mission of the Incarnate arc you are awarded salvage off of the same random tables that the trials use. No Empyreal merits would be awarded from these arcs, only Astrals. Astrals would be rewarded at the end of each mission including the last, with some bonus Astrals perhaps tied to achievements during the arc. Threads drop at the same rate as in a trial.
Once the Incarnate mission option framework was established it could be applied to future Signature arcs and/or other content. Development of such a thing now could be a good investment of time that would pay off down the line.
There would also be a non-Incarnate option for these arcs for VIP's and Premiums (who buy them at the store).
Because these missions are already in the works this plan would possibly allow for solo/team option to arrive sooner.
The tech exists to limit activity to once every 20 hours, the tech exists to award iXP. The tech exists to place the reward tables at the end of a mission. The tech exists to lock in a minimum difficulty level.
The release of these arcs, one per month, would be analogous to the release of the trials. Knowing that more arcs were in the plan (and the faster monthly release schedule) would assuage the concerns of people that would be concerned about limited choices for solo/team options when this option is first offered.
Trials would still be, by far, the faster and more effective way to get Incarnate powers.
Different arcs could be better for Incarnating different AT's. Remember that Signature arcs use signature allies. Perhaps the Force Field defender that wants to Incarnate using this path chooses to solo the arc with Statesman, BAB, or Manticore. The Scrapper chooses Swan's arc, or Sister Psyche. Or of course they get together and work through the arc.
Options
An Empyreal Merit could be awarded along with the reward table at the end of the arc. Because only one Signature Incarnate arc could be done in a 20 hour span Empyreal Merits would already be at one third the speed of trials and that fraction would favor trials even more as time goes on.
The timer could be based on when you started the arc or when you completed the arc.
The minimum level could be whatever, though I think +4 would be essential.
Tying the bigger rewards to the last mission of the arc might seem problematic as people could jump in on the last mission and get the rewards. But as long as the rewards can't be achieved more than once every 20 hours that shouldn't matter. Plus late-comers would get fewer Threads and Astrals. Alternatively the arc could be treated as an AE or TF, where you are unable to change team composition until it's completed.
Please post any feedback you have on this idea.
Thank you! -
Quote:They might be already on your machine, which is where I found mine. If not try AMD.com, they are listed there I've heard tell.
Here's a page I found.
http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownloa...w_vista64.aspx
That's for 64 bit drivers.
Just locked up again. It usually seems to happen when I click on a menu item, like Map or Contacts. -
I've been locking up, even solo, after about an hour or maybe a little more. Don't recall making any changes like upgrading drivers, but I'm willing to try older drivers. I have an ATI 4850. Where did you guys get the 11.2 drivers?

Is there a big advantage to Hasten for Night Widows? Much less Perma hasten? As long as MindLink is perma of course.
Really asking, not sure. -
Quote:I hope you're right - but my biggest concern about Freedom is how limited the Free players are in terms of participating in the community, or even realizing that the community is around them. The one channel they get is /help, which means /help is going to be utterly useless for actual help when it becomes the lft/general bull channel.
Even Premium users will be hugely limited, cut off from much of the fun and interaction.
I tried the competition, speaking cryptically, and the reason I didn't stick with it was that they never got the importance of community. I tried it when they went Free, and it wasn't any better - but wasn't any worse. If there's anything that will kill this, it's the complete and utter crippling of this game's great community features.
This. So very this. The feedback I've seen on game sites talks about this. The discussion among my friends emphasizes this. It's all well and good to make dramatic posts about how great the community is, and it is, but you're shutting players OUT of the community!
This is my biggest concern about Freedom by far. -
Quote:Bummer. I'm having a good time leveling a Widow but there are definitely times I'd just like to cruise through a few levels. They work best on brutes because they have the full 675% damage boost potential even at level 3. That means with 1 Spin (or other early PBAoE) you can one shot bosses. You're killing minions with 2 pulses of Blazing Aura. On top of that, you only need to give the enemies 1 power from the primary/secondary (I chose Scorch/revive) to still get 100% XP. I've tried with Corrs and a Fire/ troller and it was actually pretty slow. That's mainly due to not being able to exploit reds. You need to enter the mish with capped damage/def/res, which you can do with the insp dealer.
I usually get capped, then buy 5 lucks and fill up on enrages in my tray. I enter the mish, destroy the objects and start cycling spin. When the inspirations I entered with start to fade, I pop all of the reserves. At that point I just sustain on the inspiration drops I get from defeats.
Mine works exactly like Frontload, so if you've done that, you know what to expect. I've cruised straight up to level 36 in about 5 hours running it. I found it to be way easier and faster than Cyborgs, even at higher levels, because of the ease and the fact that you're indiscriminately defeating bosses like they are made out of paper. The downside is that you can't increase your difficulty without screwing up the HP scaling on the enemies, which defeats the whole purpose of it in the first place. -
Quote:Cool, thanks for checking this over!Is that with CoH running? Cause, that's *a lot* of memory usage.
CoH on UM should only be 2.5 GB running. And if gets to 3 GB, most everyone's client start going chuggy.
Please post the results of this:

Quote:It always seems like there's some sort of facing related to stealth in the game. Like you can stand behind an NPC and they won't see you if you're stealthed but if you're in front of them they'll see you. It's perception, not reality. The game has no idea which direction you're facing. The closest we have to any of that is a Stalker's crit from hide.
Anyone else seen that? -
Quote:This.Batgirl is Babs' past. She can no more go back to being that than Dick can go back to being Robin. Plus, in doing so, that says that she thinks very little of Steph as Batgirl.
That's not to say she couldn't put on a cape again, but not as Batgirl. Take a new persona like Dick went to Nightwing. Babs has graduated from "girl" anyways.
Babs is so much more as Oracle than she'll ever be as Batgirl. Swinging cape wearing punchers are a dime a dozen in comics. But good masterminds like Oracle? Not many.
Most importantly, how many characters can you name that have suffered a horrific injury as she did, and IT STAYED? Even death seems temporary in comics, but Babs' injury actually affected her character for a long time, until this poorly considered reboot. -
Some things I learned in that guide:
- Brutes don't have AoE gauntlet. I would swear that I read something that said they did.
- Gauntlet only works on Tanker single target attacks.
- The taunt in Icicles and CE doesn't stack. I'm Ice/Axe and didn't know that!
Despite my ignorance, I swear I do pretty well tanking, really!
Nice guide! It would be fun to hit up the Tanker community for set specific comments down the road. -
Quote:No problem, I think you were one of the people that got me started down the -dmg path! Thanks for the name of that interface. I felt too lazy to look it up. Going heavy on the -dmg is beginning to look more appealing to me. I might have to work up to crafting Paralytic for certain fights on my tank. My Ice/Ice is currently using Reactive but also uses Void.
I have a Reactive for soloing and use the Paralytic for teaming. Both are T3. I even went and got the Void T3 Judgement after getting the Cryonic T3 (which fits the Ice theme better). I've had trouble recoloring Void though, seems like it always wants to be black. -
Quote:Paralytic is the Interface with -dam. It can stack up to four times I believe with each application adding 5% -dam for ten seconds. It also can proc in Icicles every ten seconds (right now only on a single target but that's a known bug that will hopefully be fixed soon). Figuring 35% from Darkest Night (16 targets) and Chilling Embrace (10 targets), plus you can maintain a pretty solid 15% -dam from Paralytic Interface with PBAoE, cones, AoE, and Icicles. It should be possible to stick pretty close to -50% damage on 10 foes in melee range before even adding Void or the additional -dam from KM.So, if you want to get the most out of Ice Armor, I'll vote KM to pair with it for the -dmg synergy. Then take Soul Mastery. DN and CE add up to 35% -dmg added to whatever you can get out of KM. Void Radial adds 50% -dmg and I'm not sure about the Interface that provides -dmg. I think in the thread I mentioned the peak numbers were up to 100% but I'm sure that gets capped off below 100%. Obviously, these peak numbers would be against single targets. Against groups you'd have the 35% + Burst + 50% from Void Radial.
-dam tops out at 90% which is easy to get from Void Judgement.
I did Axe with Ice but I don't know that I'd recommend it. Axe is toward the bottom of the stack when it comes to secondaries I'm afraid. I love my character too much to start over though. -
Quote:Dang, still no details on Poison's Noxious Gas either. For what it's worth it seems to be that anything with a pet that was created in I16 or later is not working (not 100% sure about the issue, it might be earlier).
Proliferations that used an existing Pets got ported fine (for example in Cold Domination for Controllers is fine) but new pets are not getting linked. Here's a list of affected powersets I've spotted:
Electrical Melee for Scrappers
Electrical Melee for Tankers
Traps for Defenders
Archery for Corruptors
Demon Summoning for Masterminds -
Hello!
Recently I've been experiencing huge lag on the trials. Yesterday I may have discovered that it's only when I play my MM and have my pets out (Thugs/Poison), but I'm still testing (any thoughts on that are welcome). In the meantime I'm looking for any suggestions to help out with the lag.
I get lag almost entirely through each trial, with extreme lag (to the point of mapserver disconnects) in the escapee phase. Also, it seems like it gets worse the more I play. I'm a casual player trying to drink the trial kool-aid but this makes it very difficult.
- I use Soluto to monitor what's loading on my system at startup, and I don't run with anything in the background.
- Suppressclosefxdist is set to 99.
- I think Show Buffs is disabled.
Any suggestions would be welcome!
Thanks!

Quote:Hu usually opens with a Molotov I think. But Breath is right up there on the list. In fact I think Breath is the reason that the Arsonist is so notorious for running in to combat. If it was changed so that he would only use it at the edge of its range it would make a huge difference in his survivability.I haven't played my Thug for a long time. Did he use to open the battle with Breath of Fire? Oni used to do that all the time when he is within the range but not anymore. Yes, it's almost like Breath of Fire isn't treated like an aoe. It's just "another attack" that the AI uses when it feels like to.

Quote:Poison's Poison trap. The only power in the game with a 30% chance to do NOTHING each time you cast it. Ouch.Everyone forgets the green-headed stepchild of buff/debuff sets.
Poison
Poison Trap/Noxious Gas. One is like Mass Hypnosis, except with an interruptible sandwich break animation time, aggro, no range, and not much duration. One is an unenhanceable debuff aura that requires you to maneuver a pet into melee, a very long recharge time, a high endurance cost, and again, not much duration. Now, to be fair and balanced, I'll say something nice about these powers. They're better than Intimidate, and almost as good as Group Fly. Yay.
Noxious Gas. Only targets pets, not players. Only effective on melee pets. Numbers are better on higher tier pets so it doesn't even work well for all Mastermind sets.
Poor Poison. Noxious is good in some really specific settings, but really could use a wider range of usage. -
The Arsonist is bad with his Breath of Fire too. He only uses it at point blank range; it's treated like a melee attack. I've sometimes wondered if somehow that attack is mis-labled as a melee attack in the pet code somewhere.
I've seen the arsonist run all the way across a battle to get to point blank on his target so he can Breath of Fire. That power should be set to only be used at the edge of its range, not at point blank. -
Quote:I did that too. I have Reactive for soloing and Paralytic for when I'm on a team. I'm stacking -damage from Chilling Embrace, Darkest Night, and Paralytic and the -damage from Judgement Void for 30 out of every 90 seconds. It seems to work pretty well.I have both the Tier 3 Diamagnetic and Reactive on my fire tank. Depending on the rest of the team make-up, I'll choose between the two. If I'm soloing/farming I'll generally go with the Reactive. When I'm on a team, unless they're trying to do one of the Lambda badge runs, I'll generally switch to Diamagnetic. It's nice having the flexibility.
I think Interface is a slot that lends itself to swapping powers in and out. -
I doubt my slotting is exemplary but I have three LotG's (including the recharge) and three of one of the EndMod sets (I don't have the build in front of me).

Quote:This is what I did with my Ice/Axe. I even went that step further and added that paralytic -DMG proc in Interface. I think it's a great way to go. CE and DN for 35%, add another 15% or so for Paralytic, and an additional 50% for 30 out of every 90 seconds. -DAM caps at 90%.I'll echo a vote for soul mastery, if only for DN. However, it should be noted that the -tohit you'll be getting is heavily resisted by AVs. The -dmg, though, is not, and stacked with CE you get 35% in -dmg. Then if you were to take the Void Radial route for Judgement, you can periodically add another 50% -dmg to those numbers (and more if you go with the interface that provides -dmg).
If you build your tank to have higher HP and regen numbers, that -dmg adds up and will allow you to take on foes you thought you were weak against (psi attacks, namely).
It's great because unlike resistance, which applies just to you, this applies to every attack from the main target and lots of additional targets in melee range (Icicles and non single target attacks). So your team is protected as well as yourself.
I went villain just long enough to do Black Scorpion's arc and get Soul Mastery then I came all the way back around to Vigilante.
