  1. All of my corrs have the following,
Speed: Hasten/Super Speed - for recharge, fastest movement, stealth, and -threat
Leaping: Combat Jumping - adds defense, immob protection, mobility, and a great place for IOs
Fighting: Boxing/Tough/Weave - 6% defense from IOs in tough, and another ~5-6% from weave
Leadership: Maneuvers (and sometimes more from this pool depending on spec), again more defense, assault is great for anything that is not kin, tactics can be nice for S/L defense via IOs and for confuse protection, Veng is nice if you have room and need another lotg rchg holder

If you arent using IOs, then tough and weave are less useful (but can still help alot, however without IOs it can be hard to manage endurance running tough and weave depending on your primary/secondary)

Unless you have an extreme hate for super speed or even dont care about being able to move the fastest, never over look the stealth and -threat it gives, it is invaluable.
Ever since Fitness became inherent Leadership became exceedingly more attractive, not only because you had an extra pool, but because everyone has an extra pool, on teams you will typically see a large stack of leadership buffs, and assault and maneuvers especially stack really well from multiple people.

Basically the only downside to the power is that it's a pretty narrow cone. That doesn't make it "relatively terrible."

(That said, I did skip it on my Time/Fire defender, both because I don't like "breath" powers aesthetically, and because cones conflict with the PBAOE nature of Time's Juncture.)
Fireball has a 1 second activation time, Firebreath has a 2.67 second activation time, so while Firebreath might be doing more damage per activation, it is not doing more damage per second. Firebreath also only hits 10 targets while fireball hits 16. Aannnndddd fireball is typically a staple part of your single target attack chain, especially if you are a corruptor, where as if you used fire breath on a single target you would be hurting your dps unless you were recharge debuffed and had nothing else to use.

I'm not saying it's bad, You can get good mileage out of fire breath in many situations where you need a follow up aoe to your fireball, but Fire Ball is your staple go-to aoe for its ease of use and activation time, not the ever slow fire breath.
  4. Most cones in blast sets aren't very good due to horrendous cast times and can be considered skippable, some are still good situationally despite their cast times.
  5. Because a well played blaster is one of the highest damaging at's in the game, survivability is relative, and blasters are fabulous on teams that have alot of buffs already as they are arguably the best buff receivers in the game due to their base damage and access to very good ST and AoE damage. The one "flaw" of blasters that is really noticeable in the grand scheme of things is that fire blast is so far ahead of other blast sets (moreso for blasters than defenders/corrs) that comparing a fire blaster to a blaster with a different primary is practically comparing 2 different ATs.

I don't really understand the hate for keyes, its fast, its not hard, it basically has 100% success rate, and gives 2 emp merits. I does require alot of coordination, but really that just falls on the lead and people actually reading chat (god forbid). It is easily my favorite trial by a long shot, now if only it was run more so long in depth instructions didn't have to be given every run and it'd be golden

Also for some reason every single master trial run posted on these forums is on a sunday, which doesnt work for me as its my day to spend time with rl friends, so gl with the runs as usual, hope its successful.

You would need at least 1000 hits for a good test.

    Lore pets

No. The pets are good as they are right now, ie; having a strong cooldown to blow when you really need it, and planning out for when you want to use it to get the greatest mileage out of the usage. Making it a weaker perma pet would take so much away from this incarnate ability's uniqueness.
  10. Slotting priority for DF should be endred>rchg>lockdown proc>dmg proc. 4 Basilisk gaze works wonderfully in the set, add a lockdown proc if you have extra slots, damage procs are a bit overkill though.
  11. Definitely wouldn't use Lore for status protection. Destiny is up 100%, offers better protection, and affects everyone around you.

For Lore Pets I usually consider 2 things:
Need -regen? >Longbow(higher -regen) or Warworks (higher dmg)
    Need damage? >Cimerorans

For a blaster I suppose a healing support pet could be considered as well to summon when needed, as that could be potentially useful.

Between spiritual, cardiac, and musculature for alpha: Cardiac should only be used if your endurance issues is unsolvable without proper IOing, Spiritual should be used if you are going to to build around it, ie make it make a specific attack chain achievable, where you wouldnt be able to use that attack chain gapless without having spiritual, Musculature should be used if you don;t have endurance issues and your attack chain would not benefit from spiritual.

Interface, in almost all but the absolute most specific build requirements, should be Reactive, and judgment is largely player preference: Ion for targets/radius, Pyronic for damage/activation, void for -damage, cryo is crap.

  14. No fire? Well there goes 99% of suggestions I'd ever have.

I had an incredible Plant/Psy Dom for a while, I deleted it when they nerfed PSW to a 20 second recharge, but it is still a very good spec with great aoe control and damage.

Archery/Mental is another good choice, for a blaster, an Archery/Cold Corr could be good too, with RoA falling on Sleet, though I've never played either cause they aren't fire.

SS/Shield is also very good as mentioned, I ran one before as well until they nerfed Fury and I deleted it along with any other Brute I had at the time.

I'm guessing that Radiation for the -Def is gonna be helpful to keep defenses down to hit the AV. I would think something that is going to boost your damage or hinder the AV in some other way example recovery to limit his choices of attacks or something to boost your dps. Energy Manipulation might be good.

You would also need to be defense capped for range and have some way to heal yourself as hit will get in.
It is absolutely doable and has been done countless times in the past, most specifically by fire/mms.

Slotted Drain Psyche from mental manipulation does -500% regen. -Def isn't necessary, blasters have access to obscene amounts of +tohit, fire is your best choice for primary for the sheer damage it does, sonic is capable of pulling ahead in teams, but for solo play the -res isn't going to beat the damage of fire.
  16. Some things other than what was mentioned about permadom recharge requirements;

Slot fortunatas in Mass Hyp, and Sandman in mesmerize, really the only time you should be using Mesmerize is to sleep AVs when your mass hypnosis misses (ie lrsf or similar multi av situations), so a sleep set works to save some money over using a decimation set. However, if you're concerned about unstoppable popping EBs in ITFs, feel free to slot with damage.

You want Incinerate so you can use an Incinerate>Blaze>Fire Blast Attack chain, or a Dominate/Confuse>Incinerate>Blaze attack chain, depending on if you need to mez your target or not.

Total Domination only needs 4 basilisk gazes.

Fiery Embrace only needs 2 rchg IOs.

Terrify is better slotted with targetted aoe sets (posi blasts or rags).

    Apocs in blaze.

Achilles heel proc in melt armor.

    Kismet proc in combat jumping.

    posis in RoF.

Thats what I got just doing a quick look over, I didn't actually open mids, so you may want to look at your defense numbers, I usually consider ice mastery > fire mastery for Sleet (fabulous debuff, and significantly better than melt armor) and frozen armor which enables soft capping to S/L defense. If you stick with fire mastery you can probably drop either terrify or fire breath, you dont need that much aoe.

Yeah, before GR, dev stance was very firm about heroes not getting poison ever, just like villains not getting empathy ever. However, with everything that has been done since then with removing the distinction between hero ATs and villain ATs (especially now with freedom, you can start all ATs on either side), there isn't much of a reason not to give empathy to "villain" ATs, and poison to "hero" ATs.

Mind Probe is better than Subdual, by a significant margin (better animation, base damage, and can slot the hecatomb proc).

And if we assumed you are right about the primary being ineffective sometimes, when your primary is effective, a defender or corr in many situations will contribute less combined damage and support: they have to take time out of their dps chains (and depending on the support set, this can be a significant amount of time) to use their support powers. The MM can support all he or she wants while the pets continue to do their full damage, meaning overall the MM is actually contributing more. Not only that, but the MM pets are pealing aggro off of teammates, allowing teammates to survive longer.
I did not say pets were useless, I said they were ineffective in a fast paced environment. I could spend the next 30 minutes writing out a long list of situations where pets fail to deliver and spend more time listing situations where they can function as well as other power sets, but I'm not going to spend such time.
    Team tp is terrible.
Waiting for a tp defeats the purpose of playing in a fast paced environment.
Corrs have plenty of time to dps, and many corr support abilities further increase dps.
Taking aggro off team mates is silly, unless you're on a low level team, theres no reason that should be necessary.

I still group with MMs frequently because I have friends that play them and alot of people I pick up to fill incarnate trials play them, and I play my own MM occasionally, but that doesnt change the fact that TFs run with MMs are almost always slower than TFs that are run by the same people not playing MMs, does it mean I won't invite MM's? No. But it doesn't make it go any faster.

But I digress, making my point is a lost cause, as clearly most of you havent played the same endgame I play, which is fine, to each their own way of playing, it doesn't change the way I view MMs (which is being a very poor choice for an AT for the way I play, which is running content extremely fast), and it doesn't change the way you or anyone else views them either for the way that they play.

Of course you will always be contributing as long as you aren't afk or off fighting things that dont matter; but lets say you're on a corruptor or defender instead, then you would have no issues doing both support and damage in any situation, in this case you will be able to contribute significantly /more/ to the team than only being able to bring support when your primary isn't capable of being effective.

As fiery enforcer said you are comparing yourself to bad teams, try comparing yourself to good teams, try seeing yourself on an MM on those good teams being effective at completing objectives as well as your other team members who know what they're doing, and running past and ignoring mobs that aren't important. Your pets will die, they will lag behind, they lack the same kind of burst damage that other ATs have to effectively complete objectives quickly, accurately, and consistently.

I have an MM, it was my first level 50, and I've played it extensively, as well as playing 2 other MMs up to 50 briefly, and by that I mean actually playing them, not powerleveling, because MMs are great soloists and leveling toons, but as soon as they hit 50, and get on a good team with people that know how to play well, theyre just not going to be as effective as other ATs at keeping up in a fast paced environment, and I deleted my other MMs for that reason. I've played in both casual and high end environments on my MM and while they can hold their own in a casual area of play (quite well, they're incredibly easy to play), the faster your group goes, and the better the people you play with get at completing objectives, the less you will be able to contribute on an MM on such a team. It's just fact, it has nothing to do with your or any player or group of players its just the design of the archetype that they don't perform well in fast paced environments.
  23. I should almost be posting this in the scrapper forum because thats where people do the attack chain maths, but I'll chance posting it in the right section first Basically what I'm trying to figure out is how much recharge I need on each attack to pull off the following attack chain which is similar to a high end fire/em or fire/elec attack chain replacing Bonesmasher/Havoc Punch with Midnight Grasp.

    Smite>Blaze>MidGrasp>Smite>Blaze>Flares>(repeat)

Potentially this will be higher dps than fire/elec considering they both have a dmg aura and while Bonesmasher does higher damage per animation than Midnight Grasp, Midnight grasp has more burst and the set has soul drain over build up.

Doesn't matter what pets you're using, MMs as a whole will still be subpar to pretty much every other AT (ducks). However, within the AT itself, as others have said, while Mercs may be worse than other MM primaries, it doesn't make such a difference as comparing sets internally in other ATs where your set choice could make a significantly bigger difference.

IE: if you want to play an MM, and you want to play Mercs, the difference isn't going to be that much worse than playing thugs/bots/ninjas/whatever, MM primaries are pretty well balanced, there will always be a best and a worse in some regard, the gap just isn't all that big. It's not like you're trying to choose between Assault Rifle and Fire Blast.
