  1. Without factoring in anything about dominators...

The reason Mind Controllers are 'less good' (notice how I didn't say bad) than other Controllers is their lack of a mass immobilize power. Mass immobs just add so much to controllers both offensively and defensively (especially with Grav Anchor proc) that the lack of it does set back Mind quite a bit. Yes, they have other ways to set up containment, but its in no way comparable to the utility of having a mass immobilize. Immobilizes also help enormously in situations with ambushes (Katie and Apex are a good example of where having a troller with a mass immob can make a massive difference), as well as keeping AVs from running around.

Illusion doesn't have an immobilize. It sucks that it doesn't, but the unique properties of PA make up for this loss more than certain things in mind control make up for its lack of a mass immob.
  2. 1) It keeps it even across all ATs and power sets.

    2) Required Damaging Ability

    3) Part of Having a Primary set and a Secondary set is that you have just that, and not 2 equal primary sets. Your Primary is supposed to be stronger than your secondary in addition to it progressing faster. Part of it progressing faster means having more options at level 1 (and all the way up to tier 9 you will be unlocking primary powers faster than secondary powers)
  3. using OG to stack stun magnitude works well. I use a similar strat on my dark miasma toon stacking OG with Howling Twilight for the mag 4 stun.

I'd say Nightfall is overkill on aoe since your primary is fire, and I'd only use Soul Tentacles for the immob (slot it for damage though, unless grabbing set bonuses). You could probably do something like Soul Tentacles-> Fire Breath while jumping into melee->Dark Pit while OG triggers->RoF/Fire Ball. If you are worried about alphas, you could lead with dark pit and use soul tentacles while jumping in for OG to go off, then use RoF/Fire Ball. if needed you can jump out to use Fire Breath, then jump back in. Being able to use Cones quickly while moving in to a mob will make your toon alot more effective.

Just cause you have cones doesnt mean you have to stay at range, especially if you're using combat jumping you can easily use your cones as you are running into melee, then use your Fire Ball and Rain of Fire while you are in melee. Everything should be pretty much dead at this point sans bosses which will be stunned. At this point you will want to be in melee anyways so you can use Smite and Midnight Grasp to down bosses faster.
  4. I agree completely with any changes made to Synapse, currently it is the most annoying chore in making another toon, knowing that I have to spend 60-90 minutes of grinding at lvl 20 through defeat all after defeat all of clockworks.

Really all it needs is changes to the strings of defeat alls and/or removal of a couple defeat alls. The TF should be completable in under 60 minutes by most groups to put it more in line with the completion time of other TFC TFs.

Siphon Power is very good for debuffing hard targets such as AVs as well as keeping the team's damage up when you only have 1 target. It's situational but still useful and a good 1-slot wonder power pick.

I see way more /MM Blasters than Psi/ ones, and this is why.
You see way more /MM Blasters because of Drain Psyche, and to a lesser extent Psychic Shockwave, it's not because of Psy Scream (which is good, but its not what makes MM so attractive). Drain Psyche is an extraordinary ability and unique to all blaster sets that sets it apart from other blaster secondary power sets. Psy has nothing that sets it apart from other blaster primary sets that make it unique (other than being strictly worse than many other sets)

Permadom without hasten, on the other hand, is very pleasant and reliable and not at all finicky.
Agree, it's nice to be able to go afk and not lose your domination, even with Frenzy in consideration. However I would still take Hasten even if you have permadom without it, as it will help with your attack chain and many control powers that tend to have long recharges. Hasten also helps protect you against losing permadom when hit by recharge debuffs.

    +4x8 question

This is a really important point to bring up. If you're level shifted you aren't fighting +4s (sans certain AVs in incarnate trials, in which case you wouldnt be soloing).

    +4x8 question

I don't really ever say that I can solo +4x8 cause I think it's a pretty silly way to back up an argument.

But if I were to say it, it would definitely mean not dieing while doing it and specifying what enemy groups you were fighting and what kind of insps you used (if any) to make it possible.

I would also say your killing speed would be important as well, as saying you can solo on +4x8 is basically saying you consider X enemy group farmable with Y build, if you can't kill them consistantly fast there isn't much point to it.

If kill speed wasn't a factor you could make a Stone/SS tank, IO it out for pure survivability and only take Jab, sure you could probably solo many enemy groups at 4/8 and come out on top, but you're not going to be killing fast in any sense of the word.

  13. Now a days, the cool kids are getting perma hasten with only the base slot in hasten.
  14. Still no titan weapons, which means waiting another week unless you guys do another weird thursday release. I am disappoint.
  15. It's really unfortunate that Shield isn't an option, because playing a Scrapper without a taunt aura sucks, and playing a secondary without some form of offense also sucks. With that said I'd go /WP (or Invul if you don't like WP), cause everything else doesn't have a taunt aura and with all the AoE in Titan Weapons you will want a taunt aura.

The only reason the set works on a defender or a corruptor is the extra range coupled with buffs or debuffs from the primary or secondary.

There is a reason that you see it used as an attack set for Corruptors and Defenders. It doesn't lack the AoE, it doesn't lack the range.
The Range bonus really doesn't matter for PvE. You're giving the +range far too much credit. It's better on defs/corrs because of better layout of damage between tk blast and will dom, having 2(+nuke) AoEs, and the abilility to pair it with a buff/debuff set like Kin or Cold that can outweigh it's flaws, it's not any better because it has 100 ft Ranged attacks in a PvE situation.

Trick Arrow is a hell of alot more common than EM. Alot of people will play TA because they want it for concept reasons, I'd say making a concept character out of energy melee would be a bit rarer. And if you're not making EM for concept, I have no idea why you would be making it.

(then again what would I know about concept... since I don't make any toon for concept, nor do I RP)
  18. What is EM? I srs. I haven't seen anyone playing an EM Brute in I have no clue how long. Really, no one plays it any more and for good reason.

+will dom nerf. (and yes I am aware of the buff to tk blast, it doesnt equate)

I have been corrected. There is a team brute, the stone armor brute.
I don't see why stone armor would be considered more team centric than any other brute secondary, infact in most cases I still consider it worse on teams as I consider it worse in pretty much every other situation. Cause at this time any brute can easily be built to have more than enough survivability, Stone was good when the game was run on SOs, with IOs its a completely different story, all you would be doing now by running stone is debuffing yourself.
  22. Indeed, base raiding was alot of fun.
  23. Fire/Em.

Fire provides all the aoe you need, EM provides you with st abilties to chain with blaze as well as stellar mitigation when solo.
  24. It's a known issue, you will have to watch for the floating text above your head and the red text on your status bar to see disintigrations until its fixed.
