  1. Please, don't pick this one if the answer to Orion's first question is an affirmative.

[Is it possible to make / will we ever see] optimizations for the amount of space custom creatures take up from an arc that will make it more practical to have an arc composed of a fleshed out villain group consisting of mostly custom enemies?

Great pictures of what I was trying to get at in my post.
Basically, ridiculously big handguns are awesome. =D
  3. If fictional properties are fair game, I'd really like to see something similar to the pistols Alucard of Hellsing uses - modern/realistic looking, but really, really big.
Also, please, no "real humans couldn't use them for reasons x y z" ... We're superheroes/villains. We can be supernaturally strong or have super tech/magic that reduces the recoil to acceptable levels or whatever other explanation the character wants to offer. It's a weak argument.

This is the only picture I can find that gives any frame of reference to how big these things are in comparison to the character's arms.

According to Wikipedia (unnecessary info cut):

Hellsing ARMS .454 Casull Auto. This gun fires custom made .454 Casull rounds containing an explosive silver core. The weapon is 39 cm in length.

Hellsing ARMS 13 mm Auto "Jackal". It has a length of 39 cm and weighs at 16 kg, made of black gunmetal.

    Edit:

Also in the realm of massive(ly awesome!) handguns is the Launcher Pistol from the MMO Star Wars Galaxies:

It actually fires mini rockets in that game (it's a handheld Rocket Launcher, hence the name), but, hey, it's sci-fi, bullets work too.

IE, your player model and costume wouldn't go away, there would just be a new set of 'Granite' armor pieces overlaid.
You would be my God if you did this.
I admit I do not have any Stone Armor characters - but I don't have any because I HATEHATEHATEHATEHATE what Granite Armor currently does to your character. I have *always* wanted to play a Stone but could never deal with that fugly thing, I just figured it was a pipe dream because something that big would never be changed.
Count this as a big vote for NEW GRANITE!

Both of those sound like fair and decently workable solutions to me for people that want the old one, since they're both things that have already been done in the game?

  6. I'm really hoping that they have time for setting up color customization on the travel powers and prestige sprints.

Both of these are other peoples' ideas, but I also think it would be sexy if we could change the item the Medicine pool uses (for non-techy characters) and select a default flight animation from the fly pose emotes for Fly/Energy Flight.

Note to BaB: Add a turn off all gfx option for stuff like Super speed, jump powers, and hasten

    That'd be awesome. >_>

    [/ QUOTE ]

For stuff like personal buffs - except Armors - I wholeheartedly agree. Maybe, maybe even the fist based particle effects for some of the punches (IE the pompoms).
I do not, however, want to see people running around shooting invisible blasts wearing invisible armor and casting invisible heals. Color customization is going to obscure what powers are being used around and against you plenty enough already. That's just going too far. It will take the power customization system from 'cool and cosmetic' to 'optimal settings required.'
  8. Huhmm...
    Probably...

Energy Blast, Electric Blast, Martial Arts, Gravity Control, and Electric Armor. Note that this list is in no particular order.

(Dis)honorable mentions go to Battle Axe and War Mace, because they deserve to be awesome, but... well, they're just not.
  9. Changing the actual pet models/textures is a pretty far cry from changing the colors of the VFX in the game, so I am 100% cool with that flavor of "power customization" not being supported (yet), but I do agree with the OP, I really would like it if we could change the VFX colors of the pets' powers.
It's going to be exceedingly weird playing a MM with, say, blue dark blasts or red force fields when your dead guys are shooting black and your robot bubbles are still teal.
  10. I came to the boards today because I was actually thinking about this very thing myself. As you can probably see from my reg date/post count, I don't post around here for just anything, but I feel pretty strongly that the model change ability is bigger than a booster. This is a huge costume feature that's been requested forever, and I can think of several reasons not to attach it to the Science Booster, just off the top of my head.
<ul type="square"> [*]Thematic Inconsistency: The Cyborg and Magic Boosters both offered very thematically tied powers for their origins. The ability to change bodies, however, is not exclusive to Science - not even close. In fact, the first things I think of when I think of body swapping are Icubi/Succubi and Werewolves, both of which are magical/natural.[*]Content Inconsistency: The previous two Boosters both offered quite useful combat-oriented powers. The body swap tailor is 100% cosmetic. This is a drastic design shift, and it's not a good idea - unless you're planning to make Power Customization a booster - NOTE: TERRIBLE IDEA - you will never be able to match this costume feature in another Booster, and if this is where you set the bar on the costume===power spectrum, it will come back to haunt you.[*]Community Perception: There are many in the community who feel that the new spree of Boosters heralds the death of high-quality costume content as an inherent part of the game's Issue releases. I previously dismissed this mindset as conspiratorial, but after seeing body swap tailor added to a booster, and the... underwhelming costume content of Issue 15, my faith has been shaken. The community could use a little reassurance, and, again, this feature is bigger than a booster should be anyway.[/list]Numerous great ideas have been offered up or a real Science Booster power, more than a few of them are pretty solid. I myself like the OP's Serum concept, personally. This is a sincere request from one more long-time fan: Please reconsider this choice. Such an improtant costume feature should not be tied up in a micro-transaction.

To me (and presumably the devs), it's much more important to have a fun, thematically open, diverse power set selection. If you try to get more specific with the elemental damage sets beyond what they already do, you're going to be getting so specific as to pigeonhole anyone that wants to use the power set (Lightning Hammer, Flaming Spear, Frigid Axe) so it's wiser to simply have a single broadly defined set for each element. The nice thing about weapon based s/l damage sets is that there are loads of them that are still thematically different and conceptually vague.

    [/ QUOTE ]

My thought on this is that, since power customization is coming out - YAY! - The elemental weapon attacks (at least) could get hit with a round of weapon customization, since, IIRC, the only reason they weren't included (spines, EM, etc, as well) when Weapon Customization came out was that the particle effects on hit and their projectiles couldn't be changed to match the altered 'weapons', but that's a non-issue now.
  12. People who argue against Psi Melee as a represented Superhero power have evidently never heard of Psylocke, who is, coincidentally, my favorite Marvel character ever.

    Edit: Typo
  13. I think it would be pretty cool if you added a section to the menu for each restricted group, I.E, the menu could read:
    Cyborg Booster
    Magic Booster
    Science Booster
    Wedding Pack
Badge Granted --- You might have to do the badge after the emote name in this one for it to make sense, for example Stolen Police Band (Outlaw Badge)
Then then the currently existing menu groups.

Yes, people would be able to see emotes they can't access if they don't have the correct unlock, but I think that would be a good change. It would cut down a great deal on the 'How do you do that?' and 'Why can't I do that?' brand of questions, plus provide a little in-game advertisement of the things you could have if you buy the micro-purchase.
  14. Wow, guys, those are some fantastic looking trashbots. So much inspiration. &lt;3
I'm on my third or fourth iteration of this costume without actually making the character! XD When I settle on one I'll definitely post some screenies.
  15. My latest character concept is for a Brute golem, who's costumes are going to vary as he levels up based on different materials. His initial costume was going to be a "trash golem" composed of basically random junk.
The secondary is going to be /Shield, so the obvious choice there is the manhole cover, but I'm having a really hard time making a convincing 'this thing is a pile of walking junk' costume.
If anyone has any suggestions on various parts I'd really appreciate it!
    Thanks!

  17. I'm unsure if this has been said, because I haven't time to read through all 50-some pages of the thead right now, but:

Females: [u]"Glam" Hairstyle[u] clips with almost all the [u]Chest -&gt; Shoulder[u] items and many [u]Head -&gt; Detail 1 and 2[u] items, as well as the obvious issue with [u]Capes and Long Hairstyles[u] clipping

Male and Female: All the loose Chest options I know of ([u]Robes, Jackets, Baggy, etc[u]) clip in odd ways with [u]Capes[u] at the shoulder and upper back, and with the [u]Reaper Head -&gt; Detail 2[u] option.

I'm sorry I haven't got screenshots for you, but I haven't the ability to with this computer, and if I did, there would be LOTS of them.

makes me a very happy Blaster, indeed. I love my Bone Smasher, and my Hero just wouldn't be the same without it.

I might add that just giving everyone an extra inherent 5-10% resist against status effects and damage types might make life a little easier in general for everyone, and couldn't really unbalance the system too much.

I have faith in you as the Lead Developer for one of my favorite MMORPGs of all time, I know you'll lead us in the right direction, and I can't wait to see the results of this thread!
