Something you might want to consider...
If you're playing Earth/, Electric/, Fire/, Ice/, or Plant/, your AoE immobilize will also have a -knockback component that will allow your Tornado to float on and chew apart anything you hit with that combo. If that's the case you might want to consider not totally muling tornado for uniques and instead getting it at least some decent enhanced values.

  4. I have to second that Gravity is really, really lackluster on a Dominator. The only real draw to the set for a Controller is that its immobilize doesn't block Knockbacks, if you want to be able to KB immobilized targets (with, say, Tornado), however that also prevents Grav/Storm from being able to use the immob/tornado combo for a damage dealing tool.

I will however, throw a dissenting voice into the mix on Fire being a poor Dominator choice - it can work out beautifully in my opinion, especially Fire/Earth, for a little bit of extra soft and hard CC, as well as the delight of Hot Feet + Mud Pots.
  5. Hello folks of the Controller forum.
For the upcoming double EXP weekend, I am planning on dusting off an old alt, an Ice/Storm Controller, and hopefully getting her to 50. With that in mind I've been working on a build for her, and I think what I've got is looking good, but I've never had a level capped Controller before, so I'd greatly appreciate some more experienced eyes taking a look at it.

The two most influential build goals were:
I tried to aim for super-high recharge while still maintaining the S/L defense cap, because faceplanting isn't fun , but lots of tornados and lightning storms and freezing rain are !
I tried avoiding any set that has enhancements that cost 100m+ apiece. I am capable of some amount of farming for a build, but usually find that I burn out too quickly to stomach aiming for 500-700 mil/enhance sets like Apocalypse and, to a (slightly) lesser extent, Unbreakable Constraint and Gravitational Anchor.

Also, I would like to have some soloing capacity - being totally inept alone sucks - but I usually focus on team play.

So without further babbling, here it is.

Any helpful advice is greatly appreciated. Also, I'd love some suggestions on Incarnate power picks (post-Alpha, I can't really see anything but Spiritual Core being suitable for this set combo). I'm sort of thinking Reactive, Ionic, Barrier or Ageless, Polar Lights or Storm Elementals, but am more than open to opinions in that area as well.
    Thanks,
    Draeth

Edit: Also, I just noticed that the Gladiator's Net sets show the wrong PVE set bonuses on this printout, the PVE set bonuses are actually:
    (2) 2.5% Hold Enhancement
    (3) 2.25% Max End
    (4) 2.5% Damage
    (5) 7.5% Recharge

It could also be similar to Dual Pistols' Piercing Rounds.

Leadership powers don't effect anyone who isn't on your team, so, yes, the post you quoted is accurate.
  8. It can be, sometimes, easier, to use a "trinity" type setup, but generally speaking there is no content in this game (except, possibly, the incarnate trials) that absolutely requires any particular matrix of archetypes.

Quick thing... you're aware that damage bonuses from sets are not inherited by pets, right?

Edit: Also, I just took a cursory look over your build... I don't really have time at the moment for a full review, but if you want your pets to do more damage, you need to slot them with some accuracy. The pet damage IO sets are very rewarding for pure enhancement value, it's relatively easy to ED cap accuracy, damage, and even end. reduction if you really feel you need to by using them.

Just so that you know, most set bonuses are of limited value to Masterminds. Pets do not inherit any set bonuses from you, including accuracy and damage bonuses, and cannot have their powers' recharge times modified in any way. For /Traps, global recharge and defense are going to be your best bets. Blood Mandate is a great set to pick up some AoE and ranged defense to supplement your Force Field Generator, for example.

For a real "ninja" feel, go NB on primary. Otherwise, KM and Elec are also
    excellent choices.
Kinetic Melee feels pretty ninja-ey as well if you like a little magic in yours, I personally do. MA/Nin is also fun, but MA is much better on a Scrapper than a Stalker in my humble opinion.

You can't really go wrong with some of the combos given here. Definitely either make your Brute or your Tank Superstrength, it's a late bloomer but it's crazy fun. Definitely play Shield Defense on something, too.

And for what it's worth, I'd suggest avoiding Regen except maybe on a Brute once it's proliferated in I21. It's a much weaker set than it was in it's hayday and it's a lot easier to get good regen numbers plus softcap on a defensive set than it is to get anywhere near softcapped on Regen.

Funny thing - the APP/PPPs are now biased towards Villains rather than against them - you have to play as a villain/rogue to unlock the Patron sets and you get to keep them forever, even if you switch sides. Heroes have no way to unlock them short of taking a detour down evil street for a few days.

Also any procs (such as the one in soulbound, or Achillies heal) will work for pets, but only powers that take those sets (so the -Res proc only works on defense debuff powers)
    This is correct.

Also, the text on the Aura Buff IOs for pet sets is wrong - the range is, as Rajani said, at least as wide as Supremacy (they say it's shorter), and the resist ones do provide Psi resist.

  14. Just a quick question - why does Dark/Dark get so much mention as a Defender combo but not as a Corruptor combo? Is there some reason that the Defender version is intrinsically better than the Corruptor one? Is it related to Dark/Soul mastery choices or something?

  25. I am of the opinion that the Genin and Jounin should have about 30% DEF to M/R/AOE at 50.
Some might think that sounds like a lot, but, really, is it? Thugs get about 18% from their maneuvers and Bots get 15% from their Force Shields... and those pets all have some resistances, too. Plus, Ninjas are in melee and... well, they're ninjas, they should be good at dodging stuff.
