  1. You must have six-slotted that video with the Very Rare Stun set, because I am Absolutely Amazed (ba dum tish) (yes, I know that was awful).

You did a better job of making me want to play First Ward than any of the developers did, too, by the way.
  2. You aren't actually BUYING tokens, you just GET them for buying points.

I would love a red comment on this, because I don't recall any announcement of it or any such a thing, and the wiki currently has Positron listed as "working on Game Design" and War Witch as "Lead Designer." Official confirmation one way or the other would be nice.

I'm confused... is Positron the Lead Designer again, or is this an error? I was under the impression that War Witch was the current Lead Designer.

    Facts on MARTy

    The facts:
    1. It hasn't been tested on the Live environment yet.
    2. The players are never intended to be able to reverse-engineer the exact parameters that trigger it. Expect results to be vague at best.
    3. On the Beta environment there was, I think, one person claiming to have triggered it, using an AE farm.
    4. Zwil's posts indicates that, yes, it is intended to curtail maximum leveling speed. I believe he used the term "trivial amount of time" to describe what they don't want.

This almost certainly means the "CEBR" movement 1-50 in 6 hours is dead. I would personally venture to guess that hitting 50 in the span of 20 hours is probably also dead, but that's not what you asked, I suppose.
  6. For the slow-and-steady approach, there's not much that a prepared and well built Mastermind can't handle. That said, a lot of this game is about speed-this and speed-that, and the archetype really falls apart in a lot of ways when you're rushed and forced to ignore enemies.

For a character capable of doing pretty much whatever? Top end Brutes are pretty ridiculous. I'd personally probably pick a Dom or Controller over one though, but that's more because I like the ability to manipulate a battlefield more than SMASH.

That said, this is kind of a silly question to ask about this game. A lot of the fun for me is making and exploring new characters.
  7. I was actually sort of thinking about a Traps/Beam Defender over a Beam/Traps Corruptor. I've heard that the damage difference only tends to average in the order of 10-20% favoring the Corrupor, counting Scourge, and Traps on a Defender has 6.6% better -Res debuffs per Acid Mortar, which can be triple stacked if I'm not mistaken. That should, in theory, do a lot to make up the damage difference. I'm also fairly certain the damage on Trip Mine is the same on all ATs, which does more to slant the set in favor of Defenders.

    Thoughts?
  8. Elec/Time Controller.
Definitely considering a Beam something (maybe beam/energy or beam mental Blaster, or traps/beam Defender)
Also considering a dark/dark or dark/mental or fire/dark or... something... dark... Blaster.
Ugh. New powers and proliferations in the same issue make my altitis explode.

Edit: As much as I love Masterminds, a word of warning for anyone considering a Time MM: One of the biggest draws to the powerset is it's insane +recharge buffing, both targeted and personal. Those aspects are hugely wasted on a Mastermind - your pets can't benefit at all from Recharge buffs, and most Mastermind builds don't personally benefit from global recharge to nearly the extend that other ATs do, either.

I hope anyone that changed their sub to get those tokens can still change back, or get refunded.
This is my big issue here as well, except that I already paid for another year of sub time based on this misinformation (I'm being generous here by not calling it a lie, point blank).

And refunds? Yeah right. The only refund I've ever gotten for an MMO subscription was from a game that got permanently shut down, and even that took a lot of work. It's a pipe dream to think anyone will get their $140 back because of this, sad as that may be.
  10. Sort of dropping the ball on that "we care more about our veterans than potential new subscribers," bit.
  11. For a character actually capable of doing stuff when not AFK, I cast my vote for WP tanker. Mine can afk in groups of +4x8 as long as they don't have -def or -regen and never die, and I didn't use any purples or PVP IOs in his build at all.
  12. I'm actually pretty impressed at the dedication being put into getting the Mac issues ironed out as quickly as they are. A second publish within a week of launch to fix the remainder of the problems should be good enough for anyone.
  13. Dual Blades is way better on a Scrapper than a Brute. The set is heavily dependent on the +damage from Blinding Feint and that is basically worthless on a Brute's low base damage.

This is actually many many years an outdated belief.
PC hardware is equivalent-to-better than Mac and has been for years, at a substantially better cost-to-performance ratio to boot.

That is going to be the case actually, it's been said numerous times.

VIP status also gives you access to things you can't buy: Incarnates.

Additionally, it's a monthly 'license' purchase for Premiums to get IO access, Market access, and AE access (and rewards) until certain points in the Paragon Rewards shrubbery.

VIPs also get an upgrade to 550 points per month somewhere in, IIRC, tier 8.

VIP also includes 6 ATs unlocked, $15 apiece (that's six months of sub time), four of which never get unlocked by the Shrub. All the Going Rogue content (including 4 powersets) which I haven't even bothered to total in points (but it's a lot). Access to some new powersets for free (Time Manipulation for now). Access to all the new First Ward content for free. Access to two of the new costume sets for free. Access to the VIP tier of the Shrub. There's a lot to the subscription that you aren't counting here, and this is by no means an exhaustive list.

By the way, the rewards for completing those sig. arcs are sick.
  17. To the people accidentally vendoring stuff:
If you send in a support request with the name of the character, the server, the item (as exact as possible, I.E., a [Level] [Set] [Bonus Types] Recipe and the approximate time of your error, they should be able to help you with item recovery (note that this does have a 'statute of limitations' per se... it's best to do it immediately if you expect any kind of result. Otherwise you're pretty likely to get a 'we can't go back that far into the data logs' response).
  18. Bump for day 4 of hoping.
I would really appreciate any time anyone would be willing to invest in build review.

You should include some stipulations about sets with pseudopets or built-in damage buffs providing more benefit to Scrappers than Brutes, such as Elec Melee (Lightning Rod), Kin Melee (Power Siphon), Dark Melee (Soul Drain), Dual Blades (Blinding Feint), and Shield (Against All Odds and Shield Charge).

Damage buff powers are largely desaturated on Brutes because so much of their total damage comes from Fury, their base values are fairly low.
Pseudopets are strictly better on Scrappers because they have damage caps of 400%. I believe this even applies to Burn, but Fiery Aura being resist based doesn't do Scrappers any favors with that set.

At the very least you should include an "if you want to play Shield Defense, go Scrapper" line, because that one stacks both mechanics against the Brute.

    Fire/SD question

I'm no expert (I actually have an open thread a few down asking for help with Fire/Shield myself) but just an initial couple observations: You have more ranged and melee defense slotted than you really need and could probably get some more helpful bonuses by changing some things around there; also, if you really want Hasten, drop Super Jump for it, you can get by with sprint and ninja run fine (and ninja run looks awesome with a shield anyway).
  22. Was the name 'Animorph'? Because I'm pretty sure that's copyrighted. XD

Possibly the original meaning, or at least an old one, of the term PROC is Processed (or Programmed) Random Occurrence, so it is no mystery why people are confused by the idea of non-random procs, as the term pretty heavily carries that connotation for a reason.

    Sorry, but you're patently wrong.

Look in game at the detailed information on Fire Ball. Second section, below the Effect Area, it lists Attack Types. These are the defenses the power checks against. You'll note Fire Ball only checks against Fire and AoE. This isn't unusual either, for example, many psi damage powers only check against the Psi tag, not the position of the attack.
