As an avid Force Fields player, I wouldn't be opposed to them totally replacing... most of the set, honestly. As long as my shields stay, I couldn't care less what they remove from the rest of the set, I barely if ever use the rest of it anyway.
-
What, the completely and totally arbitrary sorting with only the very most basic concept of shoving vaguely related badges close to each other isn't good enough for you?
I actually make a mini-game out of it myself, of collecting as many badges adjacent to one another as possible... which sounds much more insane than intended when I read it back to myself. -
I will also add to the feedback that the map work was AMAZING! Good job artists! Now if we could just talk about the awful Statesbro & Warwork splash screen...
I kid, I kid... mostly... okay, not really, I do hate that splash screen with undying vitriol, but the maps were still stellar. I wish the Hollows really looked like that!
As far as the story goes, I will reserve my judgment until the writers have shown more of their hand. -
Most 'stereotypically asian' girl I could manage in about five minutes of effort. -
Honestly...? I want the old minion costume. Creepy Cultist With No Face made the Circle for me. I HATE their use of the "Bonehead" face to attempt to replace it on the player rig.

I predict that clean and well written Arcanaville post will be hacked apart and quoted out of context to demonstrate support for abolishing the Cottage Rule in two days, tops.

Quote:I'm developing an idea...I don't trust Arcanaville. Creepy AI.
Developer answers would be appreciated.
An AE arc featuring Arcanaville as the world's first silicon-based life form (which is so brilliant it invented itself. Maybe in The Future.) who secretly pulls all the strings behind Paragon City, the Rogue Isles, Praetoria, the Rikti, the Battalion, and everything else...
...wait, does that make Arcanaville the Well of the Furies, and the Well of the Furies a sentient machine...?
...This is actually the plot of the Incarnate Trials! GASP! -
Quote:Ladies and gentlemen, I'm done.If I made public pool and people were chugging apple juice to take a piss in it I might stop working to keep it nice as well.
This poster has broken the glass ceiling. I never thought I'd see the day.
Congratulations, you are officially more ridiculous than Golden Girl.
Good luck if you bother to continue talking sense to these people, Bill. You'll need it. -
Quote:Wow.If by playing the game you mean blatantly disregarding the developers then yes.
Get real. If anyone on the development team had half as big a problem with farming as some of you do, they would have made much more drastic changes than they did, and they sure as PANCAKE wouldn't have waited for literal years to do it. -
Quote:The only game that I can think of that has actually attempted to literally force-implement something like this has been nearly universally panned (being Final Fantasy 14).I still say that the devs should think about just limiting how much xp you can get in x amount of time. If they just put a hard cap and say, "can only get, let's say, 3 levels during a 24 hour period", bam...pl'ing solved.
There's... you know, gosh, just something that people don't like about paying for something on a monthly basis and then being told that you're only allowed to play it X each day.
Edit:
Quote:Pffft no more so then making fun of trolls.
It's like everyone forgot when AE was rolling out the devs said framing AE will be frowned upon and then did mass bannings and roll backs.
Seriously, you're trying to justify openly attacking people based on how they play the game? -
Quote:If you found her derogatory post(s) offensive, please, use the built in Report function (on the bottom-left side of the post) to flag it for moderation.Attacks on the player base at large, or farmers in particular, or PLers has no place in the forums. You can argue semantics all you wish, but you've made your position clear - clearly mean-spirited.
Shame on you.
I certainly did. -
Quote:I just wanted to emphasize this point. Story almost never trumps gameplay. Many of the greatest games of all time have vapid if any story elements and ar sold completely on the back of the gameplay. Many, many games with great stories are lost to the ages because the gameplay is mediocre, and some games never even get off the ground even with a fantastic story, because of downright poor gameplay.Short form: Story is important to me, but it does not trump everything.
A direct skewing of risk-vs-reward in favor of risk is always a bad gameplay decision, even if this specific instance is relatively minor. The tragedy is that it's something that has been done before and will almost certainly be done again, without so much as a thought to the consequences.
Edit:
Quote:So rewards do matter. You want AE for your friends exclusive use. Farm missions have not cluttered anything up. It is hard drive storage, there is plenty left. It isnt even sequential access, so the farm dont slow down access. You want the devs to tie a pork chop around your neck to get the dog to play with you. Get this...most of us dont want to play your poorly written "story" arc. We want to advance our toons and try different combinations and builds. -
Quote:As a roleplayer and an occasional farmer I am so many contradictory stereotypes that this thread should have been consumed in the black hole I ought to have exploded into on page one.As a roleplayer, I find it offensive to be lumped in with those people who seem to be obsessed with enforcing their beliefs about how the game should be played upon everyone else...
Edit:
Quote:Another form of cooldown that could work is to make the AE buildings match the level range of the zones they're in - for example, after you his level 6 in the Atlas AE, the rewards wouod stop, so you'd need to go to the one in Kings Row to continue, and so on. -
Quote:This.I never saw anyone say it will have no impact on the number of instances per hour. It won't have much of an impact on PLing or Ticket gains, though. The reason it could potentially increase instances per hour by farming different mobs is because those mobs will no longer be self rezzing, meaning time spent on the map will be cut by up to one half, meaning farmers will be spending far less time on each map before zoning back out, getting the next mission, and going back in. This argument is not contradictory to anything else that poster has said. Less time spent killing mobs = less time spent per map = more instances.
At least a few people around here can read.
Edit:
Quote:Well no, this isn't quite true. Why? Because when they rez they do so right beside you (so they're already clustered up nicely for you), pbaoes and pets can eat their faces as they rez and they're also in any patches of horridness that you may have set up (debuff patchs, burn patches etc).
Edit2:
Quote:I don't think he/she was saying there would be more concurrent instances, just more instances being created in the same timeframe.
Whether that has any effect on server lag or not, I have no idea, so I'm not defending it as a valid argument. Just clarifying what I think the intent was.
During the I21 beta, one of the Devs (I forget which one, sorry, feel free to check the digest) mentioned that the primary reason that the new low level Atlas Park mission arcs avoid actually giving you an instanced mission map in every circumstance where they could reasonably do so is because each instanced map created by the mapserver contributes to the server latency experienced by every player on the mapserver (read: anyone in any instanced mission or supergroup base), which is compounded dramatically by how frequently low-level players acquire missions.
Farmers banging out missions in 2-5 minutes for hours a day is going to have an impact. I obviously can't even guess how much of an impact as I have no idea what percentage of instances created are done so by MA farmers, but I can venture to say it won't be a statistically insignificant number just because the behavior is so prevalent, and potentially upwards of doubling the speed this type of gamer generates new maps is not going to be totally without consequence. -
Are you including Exalted in this generous offer?

Quote:I almost cried I laughed so hard at this (disturbingly accurate) depiction of Golden Girl.Leave this poster alone, he/she is trying to PL their post count! It doesn't effect you does it?
Best I've seen since the Great Forum Merger.
Edit: Thank you for the new signature, Beef Cake. -

Quote:It will also help her experience more lag during her regularly scheduled play as the mapserver will be bogged down with more instances per hour (potentially approaching twice as many as previously) for AE farmers!I'd really like to know how this "helps" anyone. I get it, you hate farmers, think they're a cancer to the game, but honestly, how is this going to help you? The only impact I can see this having on non-farmers is increased market prices.
Edit: I forgot my snide emoticon since I'm talking about GG.

Quote:Hahahahahahahahahahahahaha! So much for all those stupid Fire/Regen farms, or DB/Regen. Good luck trying to maximize ticket earnings in 2 minutes now!Quote:Major blow to farming. Well, not really. Just means people will be going in and out of missions more often. Doesn't that increase server load, and aren't we about to have an influx of new players? Heh.
Edit: For anyone foolish enough to believe this will actually dampen ticket farming rates at all, here's a fact: This will just lead people to farm mobs that don't self-rez, and since you don't need to clear anywhere near the total amount of mobs you get on an x8 ambush farm to hit the ticket cap with mission complete, this will not change ticket farming rates in the slightest.
What it will do it reduce the total experience and influence possible in a MA map, but that doesn't really mean anything to the powerlevelers except for an additional, perhaps, minute delay added to their schedules as they leave and reenter a mission more frequently. -
All of the Freedom Phalanx TFs, save the (thankfully) updated Positron TF, are pretty awkward in delivery and extremely painful to run mechanically, especially Synapse. Who in their right mind decided to make an entire (extremely long) low level TF out of nothing but villains that drain endurance? Agh!

Quote:There are some sets that have extremely meh powers for both their first picks (hello Storm). I'm 99% certain it would never happen, but what I'd personally love would be if the power level options were changed to something like:Several sets have skipable T8/T9 secondairy powers, or APP abilities you would pick over the T8/T9. But i believe there are way more sets and AT's that are forced to pick a T1 secondairy or APP that they probably will never use, just to unlock the powers that come after it. (such as webname from /traps, majority of immobilize powers from blasters).
Code:Prim - Sec - Pool - APP 1 - 1 - 4 - 35 1 - 1 - 4 - 35 1 - 1 - 4 - 35 6 - 8 - 8 - 38 8 - 14 - 8 - 38 12 - 18 16 - 24 22 - 30 28 - 32

the limit of 4 pool power sets abolished entirely or raised, and the 3rd, 9th, 15th, 21st, and 29th levels grant 3 slots instead of 2.
As I said though, I'm relatively certain this would be viewed as too drastic a series of changes for the game to undergo and would probably be considered too large an increase in character power.
If I had to pick a change to fight for, I'd go for the pool power limits. -
Just wanted to comment about something you mentioned earlier in the thread: Storm.
I love Storm. I love it to death. It's not a bad set early (one of it's best powers is level 16), but it still feels like a late bloomer to me... just because I enjoy Tornado and Lightning Storm so, so, so very much... Thunderclap is also moderately nice on a super high recharge build when you can stack it with itself, or when you have a Stun in your primary to combine it with, though most Control primaries don't really need it, certainly not Plant. -
I'd definitely give Time Manipulation a shot now that it's out. It's an amazing Controller secondary. Excellent buffs, decent healing, good debuffs, a bit of hard control, and a lot of soft control. Very cool. Very fun. Plays well with Fire/ Ice/ and Elec/ for the PBAOE Aura stacking. Could also be paired with Earth/ if you just want control for days.
-
I haven't gotten my /Time character high enough to judge how end-heavy it is (and he's elec control primary, so it's even less of an issue for him anyway), but my Ice/Storm/Ice is an ENORMOUS endurance hog. She runs Cardiac Core T4 and I still have to use Ageless on cooldown if I'm running Arctic Air (and not infrequently without it either!). If you're playing Ice/ and planning to take many toggles, especially leadership and/or fighting toggles, slot well for endurance management, you'll need it.
