Quote:I would have to disagree and say that most of the complaining comes from the fact that it can be very frustrating to deal with feeling like you can never use your powers effectively for the duration you spend with a particular team(mate), which, in some circumstances, can be hours (Task Forces and the like).I doubt that. I would bet that most of this complaining comes from bruised ego's and all around selfishness.
I really wish radial Knockbacks would be outright removed, because those are unbelievably annoying and serve no mechanical benefit in any situation, and what's worse is that the powers they're attached to aren't great powers in other ways, either. Directional ones can be utilized intelligently, but it's rare to see it done.
I personally see no valid reason to complain about adding the option to completely remove KB from a power (again, completely remove, not mitigate to knockback), doing so is pure bellyaching and will-imposing on others. I don't particularly care that certain players want everyone to be forced to deal with it, nor do I particularly care why, that's not a reasonable stance to take. -
I would go with a /MM Blaster over /EN if you go that route, as /MM has a very nice cone AoE and a pretty enormous PBAOE that doesn't require you to get into melee range to use, meanwhile /EN's biggest strength, in my humble opinion, is that it has several very potent melee attacks. Boost Range is not a good reason to pick the set for this reason, because if you intend to rely on it, you're choosing to ignore most of your secondary.
Fire/Dark Corruptor is a very potent combination. I personally do not enjoy Storm Summoning on anything but a Controller (-KB immobilizes make the set much more team-friendly), but your mileage may vary. Fire/Kin is also lovely for raining hell upon the unwashed masses if hurtinating is your desire, but as a Corruptor over a Blaster.
As mentioned in the thread previously, Fortunatas and Crab Spiders are both very good at hoverblasting too if they work conceptually for you. -
Quote:Actually, it was specifically stated that Knockdown would be considdered too powerful in Solar Flare, not removing the Knockback entirely. Nevermind that Foot Stomp does knockdown, but whatever. Not a-gonna happen. I'd love it to, mind ya, at least for some of my characters, but Knockback in powers is set to be knockback by design, and in some cases, is considered a balancing factor because the power would be considered too strong otherwise. This was specifically stated to be the case for Solar Flare, at the very least.

I would finally be able to play a Peacebringer and not want to rip my hair out chasing things around. I'd even be fine with it totally removing the KB mag if it's deemed that a conversion to Knockdown would be too powerful.

Quote:I am of the personal opinion that Acrobatics is not worth 3 power picks unless you really, really want Super Jump in your build. You can also consider getting the KB prot toggle from the Super Jump set. Otherwise, Hover is a good alternative.
This comes down to the problem that, mechanically speaking, Speed is so much more powerful than the other Travel sets since it includes Hasten and a 35ft stealth that stacks with other sources.
Also, for two slots (counting the inherent one), you can give Hover or Combat Jumping 8 points of KB protection, via BotZ and Karma -KB IOs. -
Quote:I would kill for updates to Granite Armor and the entire Ice Armor set (with, hopefully, spillover for Cold Domination's shared FX shields and the EPP pools that use Frozen Armor). And this isn't to say I don't see a reason not to improve some of those graphics, especially Ice Armor.
All of the Dark powers in the game could probably stand for a FX update, too, considering how much better the Warshade/Nictus effects look, but that is both a larger job and one that I don't see happening any time soon. -
The thing about SR is that it's a one-trick pony. Out of the set you can get soft capped defense and not much else, except for +20% recharge. It's easier than any other set to get that soft-capped defense, but, any defense set can get you there.
Meanwhile if you took something like /Shield or /Energy you get a whole grab-bag of goodies to compliment your defenses. Both of those sets get some resists too, Shield gets +max hp and crazy damage bonuses (for a Scrapper), EA has an endurance tool/heal and +recharge bonus.
SR is a very simple set and can be built to it's maximum potential cheaply, but it does not lend itself well to expensive builds if that is your ultimate goal. -
I... just use the slash commands, myself, I didn't think it was that inaccessible. Then again I suppose I have a long and storied history with MMOs and many of the older titles didn't even have GUI elements for most of what the slash commands were capable of.
Is the /cce system that unfriendly to most players? -
Quote:Super speed? Really? Forget the middle man!Why not just have a bunch of super speeding heroes take turns running on a giant mousewheel?
There are probably millions heroes in Paragon with the ability to directly manifest electricity from nothing when you consider all of the folks running around with Electric Armor, Assault, Blast, Control, Manipulation, Melee, Mastery, Mu Mastery, and et cetera. Why, Electric Blast, Electric Control, and Storm Summoning can even create other independent entities which continually spew forth raw electricity!
Plus, there's all those folks with Radiation and Energy based powers. -

I visit the Paragon Wiki absolutely every day, but I did not receive a threat alert at all. That said, I'm going to run both full MalwareBytes and AVG scans and will report back whether they find anything or not. Hopefully not everyone who visited was compromised (although I do also use NoScript on my browser, so that may be related to me never getting an alert).
Edit: And, of course, thank you for all your hard work and dedication, both specifically in this instance and generally for running the Titan Network as a whole.
Edit2: Totally clean, nothing found. This either proves that Tony's right on the money about NoScript, that some visitors didn't get infected, or both. -
Choose light colors and the "No Fade or Pulse" options, that's really all you can do to mitigate it, as far as I'm aware.

Leo's on the same wavelength as me, here, I think. If you do go with the more open concept this could be a cool SG.

Respectfully, Silverado is famous for his solo stunts because of their difficulty and rarity in the community, so you're essentially contradicting yourself with your own comment.

Make no mistake, City of Heroes has a lot of character customization for a video game, but it doesn't even come close to what a pen and paper (regardless of genre) will allow you to do with your character. If you don't understand why, it's somewhat difficult to explain in a forum like this, and better learned in real play experience anyway. Try it sometime!

Quote:This is false. With defenses, at least, part of it is also positional and typed bonuses were made to be accompanied by a bonus of the other type of defense equal to half the original bonus.
Defense bonuses on IOs were originally only one position, or two types excluding psi, or psi.
The one position-two types pairing that is currently seen in game was a change to make the system more fair to defense based armor sets. -
It's very, very, very, very, very, very difficult to build a Blaster that can solo AVs and GMs without Incarnate power use. Dominators are a much stronger archetype in my opinion due to vastly superior versatility while sacrificing very little in the way of damage output.
That said Fire/Psi and Fire/Mental both show off some of the top end performance of each archetype. -
Quote:Spellchecker removed the "anti" from the beginning of the word, fixed, and thank you.I think you meant, "Storm *isn't* pretty..." If not, I'm sorta lost by this comment.
EDIT:
Quote:I'd have to agree, as a pure ranged damage set, it's probable the worst. It isn't all that bad as damage plus sapping effects set, and those sapping effects would be largely magnified on a team such as this. So if you're even gonna get the most bang for your buck out of Electric Blast, this is the team for it. -
Dual Pistols is kind of a mediocre set (mind you, that doesn't stop it from being awesome to look at, but, its damage isn't great), but can slot Force Feedback +recharges into all three of it's AoEs, making it good with support sets that have powers which benefit from stupid amounts of +recharge. I would avoid it on a Blaster in favor of something that plays to that archetype's strength more (read: HURTN STUFFZ).
Kinetic Melee is great with Shield Defense on a Scrapper for crazy +damage stacking, Ninjitsu on a Stalker for... basically just being the two best Stalker sets, and I have heard it plays nicely with EA on either as well.
Electric Control I would strongly suggest you avoid on a Dominator, because Domination does almost nothing for the set. Meanwhile, it pairs amazingly well with Time Manipulation (my pick), Radiation Emission, and, Poison.
Also, if you want to use the last Going Rogue set, Demon Summoning, it goes great with Thermal Radiation (my pick), Dark Miasma, and Time Manipulation. -
Quote:I'd say it's more like arguing over whether it's better to have only one kidney or no gall bladder. Why are you people acting like heals and buffs are mutually exclusive? Why would you ever want to have just one or the other? It's like arguing over whether it's better to have lungs or a heart.
One is much more threatening to your long-term survival rate while the other mostly just affects your dietary choices, making it more of an inconvenience than a problem. -
StJ/Fire Brute is a lot of fun.
Kin/Shield Scrappers are raunchy due to stacking +damage buffs on a Scrapper's already high base damage. I believe Kinetic Melee is the only primary other than Dark which can grant consistent +damage and also be paired with Shield Defense. -
I'd just like to make a suggestion... don't use a Mastermind for your Storm Summoner. The set meshes much, much better with a Control primary which features -knockback on it's immobilizes (read: ice, earth, fire), or, barring that, with Ice Blast.
Storm is pretty anti-synergistic with Masterminds, in my opinion. It causes far too much chaos on the battlefield without large area Control options and the pet AI does not respond to that well at all.
Another note... Electric Blast is among the worst ranged damage sets in the game, just to warn you. It may even hold the honor of number one worst. Electric Control, on the other hand, pairs amazingly with Time Manipulation, so if you're not opposed to two controllers, you could have an ice/storm and an electric/time to fit into your theme, or an electric/time controller and a storm/ice defender perhaps. -
I love how every game has one class/archetype/whatever that everyone berates, and pats each other on the back for doing so, when the reality is that there is no actual correlation between t3h dur and a character type. Every class/AT/etc has its idiots as well as its excellent players.
Signed,
That Mastermind that you didn't notice solo that Task Force for you, you know, that one time. -
Quote:Couple things without diving into your numbers at the moment......My goal is to be a damage fiend, but also survivable....
...I feel like something is missing on the Def end. Kin Combats are out of the question currently, so please don't suggest those, or purples. Everything else is fair game....
If you want to take advantage of the Brute's mechanics to deal damage you might want to consider one of the secondaries that offers a damage aura.
Kinetic Combats can be very easily aquired for 1-2 Alignment Merits or 16-32 Astral Merits.
The Alignment Merit method is 2-4 days of of 5 missions each, which can be done in under an hour each day, and you can also get one each Signature Story Arc you run for the first time, and then another one per week for running any one Signature Story Arc. These take less than 30 minutes apiece (being generous, I've done SSA 1 in ten minutes). The Astrals come naturally if you intend to grind trials for incarnate progression, and there isn't much else they're useful for.
