Just a quick question regarding Brute Primarys.
I have an Axe/SR brute at 50 and needless to say Axe can be a bit of an endurance hog (plays a lot like broadsword imo with the -def replaced with chance for KD, so it's slow but hits pretty dang hard), I was wondering which primary for brutes uses the least amount of Endurance? -
Brutes can be tanks, brutes can be scrappers.
Sometimes, if I'm the only brute on the team I'll tank however my Axe/SR is built more like a scrapper (I don't have taunt and my taunt aura is slotted for def/end redux).
Most brutes I know of, unless they're a tanking style build rather than a scrapper style build, wont pick up taunt.
Whirling axe was the last power I picked up, 4 slotted it with 3 acc/damage set IOs (Frankenslotting) and one generic endurance reduction IO.
Basically if I'm not tanking on teams I run her as a scrapper, run into a mob SMASH, run into next mob, SMASH and so on. Fury really does encourage this playstyle...running from one group to the next.
It also encourages Brutes to take the Alpha since they not only get fury from attacking but from being attacked and being the target of an Alpha means you get a load of fury.
At level 12 though you can't play as a slave to the SMASH, most Brutes suffer heavy endurance problems early on but you'll probably play more like a scrapper (since you won't have all your defenses in place) than a tank at that level.
Those are my personal experiences. -
ah...shame..
Must have been Knockoutblow or something along those lines...
ah well..no matter... -

I just tried to make a new character to team up with a new character of my fiances and in short I couldn't find an available name. Literally.
We just spent more then an hour looking for names and logged off out of shear annoyance.
At some point something is going to need to be done to free up some names and doubly so if we want new people to be able to come to the game because the situation as it stands is absurd.

I am on Virtue... and I have NEVER had a problem getting names.
I have a few toons on Freedom... and havent had issues getting names on that server >.>
Examples:
Freedom server:
Knockout Blow
Atomic Soap bubble
Punchu Indagut
Virtue:
Natural Stimulant
Alannah
Nina Kitty
Pins n Needles
Red Pop
Cosmic CandyKane
Tons of names are available >.>
Then I never try to make Super Awesome...

ooh Knockout Blow...if that's a brute we teamed on a LRSF run...which ended badly (as most PuG LRSFs do). -
Forgive me if I'm wrong but...
...I swear there is one storyline in X-men where a young mutant has a power which means he exhudes a deadly chemical which effectively turns him into a mobile chemical weapon which he can't shut off and there's no way he could stay among people...
...I think it ends with him being in a cave out in the middle of nowhere and Wolverine (who thanks to his regenerative powers was the only one that could get near him without keeling over) explaining that the guy had to die for the good of the rest of the world just before promptly killing him.
I could have imagined all this but I swear I've read that comic somewhere. -
Only have one.
Amy zon (Tanker Invuln/SS on the EU servers) = Barb Arian (Brute Axe/SR) reason for the different powers was that while Amy is invulnerable and really strong, Barb is the opposite and has to rely on a weapon and her natural agility to avoid damage. -
Always nice to see another European on these forums Animal, welcome to the US side of things!

As feedback I must once again disagree with the Temps being tied to given ATs. It is not that the Temps make the fight possible or impossible, it is that they make it more interesting. Limiting the Temps to specific ATs limits what players can try or how they can experiment with the encounter.
It also makes forming a team, or finding a team being formed, far more difficult. Now rather than my normal mantra of "bring whatever character you most want to play", I have to ask SG-mates "could you please break out that other character you have instead of the one you most favor which you are currently on?"
Please consider revising this.
[/ QUOTE ]
Just like to say I whole heartedly agree with this post. Moving them temp powers from being AT specific would open the TF up a lot more, yes there are those teams that can stack enough debuffs to weaken the Almighty him/herself into being a kitten but not every team is going to be that way.
Once the MM power gets working again, I think you'll definitely see an upswing in the TF being run BUT it shouldn't be the case of having to bring an MM, if you have two Brutes, allow one to choose the Ghost Widow power and the other to choose Black Scorpions power.
I'm not sure how you would get such a thing to work (pop up reward upon defeat of all AVs with temp power selection maybe?) but it would certainly turn the SF (which, with the storyline, is a damn sight better than the first version on test, I mean a LOT better, by a country mile better) from a "run it once for the badge, never again" type SF into a "Will rerun it" type SF for those not building the big debuff teams. -
Ah true...tis in my list of accents though if you look... (can see it in your quote of it
)
-
Well just like to say that Issue 15 is now live on the EU servers for the English servers only (French and German are having problems). So if you still can get on in the US...I say this...
...HA!
...not that I'm actually that excited about Issue 15...just means the booster pack will be out soonish...
Edit: Damn you, still in testing! Hoisted by my own Petard! -
example of one of the many welsh accents just for you Yuri
That and he's quite a funny guy too..

That would be Mancunian. Manchuria is on the other side of the planet.
[/ QUOTE ]
Always had it call Manchurian in my house hold...but then we are a bunch of "southern softies" according to those up north... -
Of course I drink tea...
However I don't have a Posh or Cockney English accent.
we do have, many accents, a quick run down is Manchurian (Manchester), Liverpudlian (Liverpool), Brumie (Birmingham), Yorkshire, Lancastrian, Somerset, Dorset, North London, South London, East London, West London (each side of London has it's own specific accent, Central London is of course Cockney though Cockney rhymning slang in constant use is dying out, various words to filter through to the various London based accents, such as "having a Butchers" at something comes from "Butchers Hook" which meant "Look" in Cockney rhymning slang) and there's quite a few others I've left out of this already long list.
(I have a South London accent, not quite as gutteral as East London however we tend to speak very fast and clip our words). -
ah...the wonders of language do it again!
Yeah I quickly learned not to use my british description for "a packet of cigarettes" while in Canada...got me some odd stares.
The term actually comes from the ye olde british meaning for a bundle of sticks which is also a rude slur word on homosexuals nowadays. -

actually no...it's bright and sunny...I've spent the last few hours reading a book and playing Mario Kart Wii...
Just saying to those moaning that this is inconviencing them, when the majority on the US servers aren't inconvienced by it should try being on the EU servers...where the majority is inconvienced by it...but we start making puns in our maintenance threads, or we go outside and do other things, just nipped back into check if the servers had been updated and Issue 15 was live.
[/ QUOTE ]
how does one nip back in?
[/ QUOTE ]
Might have a different meaning in the US but to 'Nip' somehwere is a british slang term that mean 'to quickly go somewhere' for example if you say your 'nipping to the shops' it means 'quickly going to the shops' can be used in past, present and future tenses 'nipped' 'nip' and 'nipping'.
The more you know... -

Heh all you people complaining about the servers coming down in your prime time...
As an EU player Issue updates ALWAYS come during out Prime Time because the dev team have to be up and awake before the EU support staff will even think about applying a patch incase anything goes pear shaped.
Also, all that MA Maintenance you had that was applied for you in the mornings...yeah hit us in our prime time slot...
So before you start moaning, the EU community has got you beat on being inconvienced by these updates since it's always during our prime time -
It the usual thing of "I'm right, I'm definitely right, I won't listen to any evidence to the contrary, I will outright ignore it just so I can continue to state my opinion!"
Seriously, What about Bugs Bunny, what about ANY bloody cartoon where one of the males has to dress as a female to
a) Fool the guards to get past.
b) Lure said guards around the corner with a show of leg before clobbering them on the head so they can free their friends.
c) Use it as a big old distraction technique.
d) Mulan, she in a DISNEY film dressed as a MALE soldier to fight alongside her troops so she could protect her country, since she wasn't allowed as a girl.
There are many, many, many examples of cross-dressing in stuff LESS than teen rated... -
hmm...tough one...
depends really...when a new booster pack or issue is released, for a short time they're the most popular pieces, you see them everywhere you go.
I do see the Enforcer 2 chest piece used a lot though. -
The best solution in any case is always just to petition yourself and see what the GMs think.
I've done this a few times while making characters based on obscure 90's scrolling beat'em up video game fighting bosses, they've all been deleted before but most of the time they're obscure enough to pass without notice.
They included:
Ash (renamed to Soot)
Shiva (can't remember what he was renamed to)
Barbon (again forgot what he was renamed to)
There's a lot of scope for homages and always petition yourself if every you feel in doubt of whether it will cause trouble. -
Hmm while I don't house any real objections to having the height/gender changes limited to a paid for pack...
...I'd rather see them given as free to all the players (lets face it, it would turn Issue 15 from a 'meh' issue in most peoples eyes into a 'actually pretty good' issue)...
...AND I recommend replacing it with a perma-version of This power with a 30 minute recharge timer...
because come on...everyone loves the vial of bees!
After all...as Vernon says "Here, take more bees with you. You may need them," and need them we shall! -
It's also particularly awesome for invuln tanks going for the typed def soft cap to everything but Psi damage (most of which is listed under Ranged, which you'll probably have atleast 25% def to) now that Ranged defense set bonuses offer typed defense as well (and viceaversa) got two complete sets on my Invuln/SS tanker. It also offers the highest available Neg/Nrg and fire/cold typed defense for that build (most melee attacks are slotted with set IOs which increase smashing/lethal defence for four slots a piece Smashing Haymaker (for the cheap if slightly less effective version) or Kinetic Combat (the better version).
As mentioned above, if you're not building for defense in any way...they're not going to be much use to you...if you are...they're the best def bonus giving sets on a slot for slot basis. -
Finally!
helmets (modern helmet) + Death mask + Death guard + red eye glow = Fifth Column look!
Been waiting ages for an atleast decent resemblence...the options we have now just aren't close enough. -

Our RP threads are 1.5 times longer than yours because of the conversion rate.

Pah that's only continental Europe...we Brits still use Miles, yards and feet (yards and feet my be too archaic and possibly not used in the states...not sure). -
Looks like the US is going to be getting some EU RPers into these forums.
Hmm...let me just express the differences I've found between the US RP forums and the EU RP forums, just to give you a heads up.
The Galaxy Girl thread: Expect this to appear, Galaxy girl is the iconic EU (Union server) meeting point and as such has a LOT of history behind it (think of it as an offshoot of the old gemini park RP I hear you guys got upto).
RP thread length: The main difference I've noticed is that you guys prefer singular REALLY long threads for the RP. However the EU prefers the opposite, shorter RP threads which do the whole begin, middle and end style situation, they can go on for many pages but at most it's 20 pages long. However due to this there tends to be more open/semi-closed/closed RP threads.
Far more enclosed community: Due to the distinct lack of numbers on the EU servers, 95% of the RPers will know the other RPers, especially if they're on the same server, it's also a lot easier to become a 'big name villain/hero' in the EU crowd (Dr Mechano is considered mostly a Mad scientist prankster but also a high threat due to his sporadic if usually directly harmless (indirectly is a different matter) attacks against Paragon cit. His pinnacle achievement being the simultaneous attack against the 3 biggest RPVGs and the three biggest RPSGs and two major (player owned) corporations with harmless but eye catching pranks).
The Unionverse: Inspiration from the Virtueverse of course, the Union community has set up it's own version
I hope you welcome the EU RPers with open arms, we don't bite and we'll probably keep mostly to ourselves to be honest but the Europeans are coming! -
Bah...wonder what IS going on then...shall check support...
DAMN YOU NAYLOR! *shakes fist*
Ticket is being escalated but apparently there is a heavy volume of tickets going on (not entirely sure what's causing the heave volume of tickets, anyone care to inform me?)
